Comments:FDM 1303 - He is the best! This class is so entertaining, and I have actually learned so many cool facts. If you get the chance, take this course with Dr. Tankersley!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2026-04-09

Comments:FDM 1303 - This was easily one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. The course content was interesting and easy to follow. The grading system was very simple, only three multiple-choice exams and a final, no confusing assignments or invaluable busy work. As long as you pay attention in class, you will get a good grade. Highly recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - This guy is the best, what an absolute stud, bro is 70 years old and cooler than me, we literally got to do an assignment where we go over playboy articles. The undisputed goat.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FDM/JOU 1303 - Cannot stress enough just how good this guy is. Like he's super chill, laid back, loves what he does, and really wants you to succeed. The class can count for either Film and Digital Media or Journalism, it's cross-listed. Your grade is just exams (there's 3 of them) and the final, there's no homework, textbook, or miscellaneous assignments. Because of this, there's no weighting on anything, it's just total points. The exam questions are really easy and kinda humorous, and he does in-class reviews the day before the exam where he stresses major points that'll be on the exam. The final is made up of questions from the past 3 exams. His lectures are also kinda funny, with lots of stories, videos, and jokes. Highly recommend taking him if you can get a spot in any of his classes!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1030 - He is extremely helpful and is always willing to explain anything you got wrong. In his reviews he will basically give you the test answers if you listen. Everything that he's gonna put on the test he emphasizes in class several times.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 3372 - Tank is the goat. I learned lots from his class while having minimal assignments to complete. If ever a "test" or "quiz" (of which there are maybe 3 total including the final) you are always allowed open note and open computer. He always gives plenty of time to complete assignments and is understanding about deadlines. We got out early often and had class canceled a few times. He is very personable likes to get to know his students due to the small class size. Possibly the best thing about him teaching this class specifically is that he knows no one taking it is a journalism major and understands where our priorities lie. Tank is the absolute best try to take him at all costs!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1303 - Really easy but fun class. He let out about 30 minutes early every class too. There's only 3 exams and the final, though, so if you miss class, definitely get notes from someone, because a good portion of what's on exams are things he says that are *not* on the powerpoints. Exams were 50 question multiple choice, and the final had 100 multiple choice questions that came from previous exams.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1303 - Easiest class ever. He is hilarious too  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1303 - Easiest class ever. He is very clear about what he will test you on. Very lecture based.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2024-11-19

Comments:JOU 1303 - Easiest class ever. You have four one page essays (double spaced) plus three exams that make up your grade. As long as you half-way pay attention in class you'll be fine. I think the class average on every exam was like 45/50 and he's such an easy grader. For our final, it was literally just questions from past exams and we had a review where he gave us every question and the answers as well. He's such a sweet guy too! He had us all over for dinner and he sends out Christmas cards. Highly recommend taking him.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2023-12-08

Comments:3372 - He grades lightly because everything is so subjective, you only have in class assignments, with one assignment due every week that takes 15 minutes, and the midterms are solely just based on notes to see if you were paying attention. Take a few notes, laugh at a few jokes, and you have an A with almost no outside work.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2023-11-29

Comments:FDM/JOU 3372 - If you're taking this course, TAKE HIM!!! This class is so easy. In comparison to the other professors, we do a lot more writing that actually seems applicable to life. Even if you have to take him at an unideal time, it is worth it to take him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 1303 - Professor Tankersley was easily my favorite professor this semester! He is a kind human being who loves his students. He makes his class fun and interesting and his workload is very minimal. I would recommend him for any class and encourage anyone to take a class with him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1303 - This man is incredible. He had us all over for a 3 course meal at his house, the tests are easy, practically no homework, and we get let out early every day. Take him!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - Tankersly is the best. Incredibly nice person and a pretty entertaining lecturer. Class is a joke, so definitely take him and the course.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - Professor Tankersley is by far one of my favorite professors. His class consists of one weekly homework writing assignment, writing assignments in class, a midterm and a final. There is also a departmental exam that you have to take no matter what professor you take. This is one of the few classes that I have taken at Baylor where I feel as if I have learned something that can be applied to the real world. He has an extensive background in journalism and has a bunch of funny stories about things that have happened during his career (ask him about these they are hilarious). Every class was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed attending his class. Tankersley truly cares about his students and wants to see you succeed. If you put in the effort you will get an A. Overall, Tankersley is by far the best professor that you can take for this course!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 1303 - As a Journalism major, this was my favorite class of my first semester at Baylor. Tank is funny, caring, experienced, and very personal with his students. Tests are easy (take notes on the stuff that isn't on the powerpoints, then study both your notes and the powerpoints and you'll get an A), his lectures are engaging, we never really had homework, and there are numerous extra credit opportunities. He truly wants the best for you, and I've heard great things about most of the other Journalism professors, but Tank is #1 in my book (so far).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Tankersley is amazing. I don't know how else to put it. He makes assignments not only relevant, but fun. He cares about his students. He is outstanding and I wish every Baylor student had the chance to take a class from him.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-12-14

Comments:Jou 2303 - Forever grateful to him for last semester! Amazing professor! has a midterm and a final which isn't really a final. Go to class! everyday and you'll get an A! do your writing assignments and you're assured an A! don't slack off or skip class cause he gives in class assignments. He's one of the nicest professors I've had in my life (not just in college)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FDM 1303 - Take this class. It’s an easy A if you pay even moderate attention. Your grade comes from 3 tests and the final - they’re not very hard. Just review the PowerPoints before the tests and stay awake in class, and you’ll probably make an A. Tank has opportunities for bonus points—do them. I had his class in the 11:00-12:15 timeslot on T/Th and he let us out by 11:50 most days.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1303 - Literally best class offered at Baylor!!! Such an awesome professor who makes a mandatory class for many people very enjoyable. I would take this class again in a heartbeat. JUST GO TO CLASS!! Pay attention to every story he tells and important quotes from the clips he shows that he emphasizes as he includes these things in his tests. The tests are very easy if you go to class, pay attention, take notes, and do a bit of studying. The final was 100 of the 150 questions from the 3 exams taken throughout the year and he offered a review session where he had all of the tests available to be written down. Overall an amazing professor and a very manageable class! Hilarious person with some great stories about the journalism field which makes the class very fun.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Jou 1303--mass comm - Clearly states what you need to know for the tests. go to class and take good notes and you're gonna get A's and B's. But be sure to go to class. he takes attendance and although he posts his power points, most of the test questions come from what he says in class. also, pay attention to everything he says in class because sometimes he makes questions extra credit on test if they are about a personal anecdote he mentioned. take him, go to class, take good notes, you're good.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 2303 - Tankersley is hilarious and passionate. He loves what he does and will help you love it too. He's reasonable and direct; take time to get to know him. This class was fun and engaging but I definitely learned really practical information. Totally take him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 2303 - Professor Tankersley is such a bro. The workload is light, but I still feel like I'm learning a ton! I LOVE THIS CLASS! It's so much fun, and it's a good way to wake up in the morning. Tests/quizzes are open notes and open AP Stylebook. He has a lot of real world experience that he relates to each topic from the book to show how each lesson applies to actually working in the field. Just an all around cool dude. 10/10, would recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - Favorite professor at Baylor so far! Don't need to even read the book, but put some effort into the assignments. Very little work overall, but you'll still learn a lot. He really understands how to form connections with students. Because of him I added a public relations concentration. Take him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - kevin rocks! really cares about students super funny he even got me a scholarship he's not fake like a lot of the other journalism professors  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3367 - Tankersley's class is easy-going. I never read the textbook but kept up with class notes and lecture material. His tests are normally open-note but it is helpful to read through your notes ahead of time to fill in any missing information. I had him in the spring and we had a few days that we met outside.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU 3372 - Tankersley is probably the best Writing for Media Markets professor to take. I am a business student and took him a couple semesters ago. The class is fairly straightforward and enjoyable. Tankersly has a lot of journalism experience and tries to make the class interesting and a little "outside the box" as well as relevant to college students and current media. I wouldn't consider this class a "blow off", because you do have some homework every week, but Tankersley keeps the class very smiple and manageable. The main work outside of class were writing assignments, which we did have a good number of, and taking notes on the chapters of the textbook, which Tank asks you to keep up with for possible quizzes and class discussion. But the writing assignments are short and easy and if you like to write you'll probably enjoy them, and the textbook chapters are short and easy to skim into shorthand notes. One cool thing about Tankersley is that he doesn't waste your time. I remember almost half of my classes were let out half an hour early, and most we were out of a little early. Any tests that we had were open-note (that's why you need to keep up with chapter notes) and I remember a small group project as well that wasn't too difficult. My advice if you take the class is just keep up with the weekly assignments and chapter notes, which are easy to do, and the class will be a breeze. Plus you'll probably do some cool stuff in the class from time to time.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - Mr. Tankersley is definitely one of the best writing for media markets professors. I would take him over anyone else. His class is a fairly easy A, and while you do a lot of writing assignments, most of them are done in class. The only two major projects are a media kit and a small paper on a person who plagiarized. You have several AP style book quizzes, but they are all open book, and I really helped learn better grammar from them. The only homework is taking notes on the textbook. Do not fall behind on this. Take the notes when he says to take them. Sometimes, he will give quizzes on the chapters. If you have done your notes, then you can use them, and the quizzes are super easy. If you haven’t, though, you are pretty much out of luck. Do not wait until the night before the final to take the notes. In addition to the writing assignments, there is a midterm and a final; both are open notes and fairly straightforward. You do need to go to class and be there on time. He sometimes gives quick writing assignments at the beginning of class. If you are there for them and complete the majority of them, he will favor you when assigning final grades at the end of the semester. If you ever have any questions, just ask him; he is really approachable. If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me at mwleagle@msn.com.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Journalism - By far my favorite professor at Baylor. I am a business student and took his course as an elective. Most of the b-school professors will keep you in class the full 50 minutes even if they have nothing more worthwhile to say, which is a big waste of their time and your time. Mr. Tankersley allows you to complete homework, etc when he is done lecturing- he's not a time waster. Showing up to class and participating are huge factors in this course. If you're not the participation type... or if you're the type to miss all your allowed absences, this is not the professor for you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:JOU - Very cool guy!!! He made the class interesting and had assignments that let you have fun. He will make you laugh and learn at the same time. His class is as straight foward as you can get. His tests are open notes and open book...You would have to try to do bad in this class. And he even made us cookies one day!!! TAKE HIM!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CST 3372 - what a cool guy.. knows his stuff as well. he's experienced in this field, so he makes it a good class. assignments are easy. its not an automatic a, but if you just listen in class, it should be an easy one.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - Seriously one of the best professors I've had. He's very understanding about life outside of school and will help you out with getting things turned into him... without deductions. I had him for PR writing at 8 am TR, my first 8 oclock ever... the advantage to this is, we were rarely kept longer than 30-45 minutes, ALL semester. It's not a complete blowoff though... he teaches what needs to be taught, effectively, and gets us out of there. KNOWS what he's teaching, very funny guy, great personality. Also teaches 2303. Take him if at all possible, definitely recommend!  - Grade In Class:A
