Comments:4319 - You don't need to be a genius to do well in this class, but you do need to use your resources if you want to do well. It's also not particularly mathematics heavy, which I had assumed it would be. I read every single textbook chapter and went to Dr. Pham's office hours frequently. He is very helpful, supportive, and friendly!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - wasnt necessarily an exciting class, but was much better than I expected from an economics class! studied a couple days before each exam and ended the class with an A, also the practice exams he gives you have some questions that overlap onto the actual tests and are great representations of the material. made me switch into an economics concentration! nice guy  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - Dr. Pham is incredibly smart and knows economics very well. He is such a nice professor and really wanted us to understand the concepts. His classes could get boring at times, but just pay attention and read the book and the tests were not that hard. We had homework every 2 weeks but it was online and super easy. He gave us a big curve on our grades at the end of the semester too  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4319-Game Theory - Game theory tends to be a topic you either get or you don't, it's pretty bimodal. Dr. Pham is incredible at teaching this course. He explains it so thoroughly and makes sure you understand the logic behind it all. Some people were worried about understanding him before the semester started, but he doesn't have an accent at all. I really enjoyed having Dr. Pham as a professor. The only thing about his teaching that was rough was how he does notes. He writes them out on his iPad and a lot of the time his handwriting can be hard to read. The notes are also really hard to understand if you aren't in class, like, nearly impossible. So the key to this class is attendance. And he only offers game theory as an 8am, which is on purpose. He wants the people who take the class to be committed to coming and putting forth effort. In terms of structure, there are 8 homeworks which aren't bad but can be difficult at times. There are 2 tests and a noncumulative final. The exams are all really fair in my opinion. Nothing on them that is out of nowhere or something you haven't discussed. I think they were pretty representative of what you knew. I really enjoyed this class and he curves at the end pretty nicely.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MicroEco - He curves everything so much it's almost laughable. But like a happy laugh because I got a 72% and ended up with a B. Do your homework, (cannot emphasize that enough you get 3 attempts, so get 100% on HW every chance you get) and you'll be fine as long as you study at least a bit.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ECO 2306 - His class is very boring, but READ THE BOOK and you will succeed. ALSO study the practice test closely with your book open and you can do very well on the tests. It is 2 tests a noncumulative final and homework that are each 25% of your grade. Homework is online so thats an easy 100. Tests have a HUGE curve so overall you have everything you need to succeed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - Pham teaches an entire lecture based class where he goes from slide to slide. It can be boring but if you pay attention, you will understand things. His tests are straight from the book. If you simply read the textbook, you will do fine on his tests. Overall, really nice guy. Enjoyable class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - This class is not bad, just pretty boring. He's super smart but he talks over the students heads alot. The hardest part of this class is staying awake. The homework is online and itsnt too bad, but the dates aren't on the syllabus. If you study the powerpoint and look over the homework you should be ok for the tests.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2306 - Not bad at all. He just stands and reads off the powerpoint. He posts them to Canvas later on in class so really don't even have to pay attention in class. One homework due a week which is easy to complete. 2 Tests during the semester and the final. 2 Tests were pretty easy as long as you study ahead of time. He posts a review online but no answers to questions. He really knows the material but needs to find a way to convey it better. Overall though, not bad at all.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - Professor Pham is a nice guy but his lectures are very boring. The homework is pretty easy and theres only one due a week. The tests are really straight forward. The only bad part is that there is only 3 grades that go in, the tests, the final, and the homework.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ECO 4319 - Game theory is a very challenging course that takes a lot of problem-solving and very little memorization. Dr. Pham is a great professor, though; he teaches extremely thoroughly, makes few mistakes, is friendly and always helpful. I really enjoyed taking him and though he is a tough grader, he is fair (in my opinion). The difficult parts of this class are the homeworks, which we had 8 of and which got increasingly challenging, and the exams, which are curved by adjusting the letter grade scale. If you put in consistent work you can earn a B+ or A- fairly easily, and an A if you really work hard. Overall I loved game theory and Dr. Pham's subtle humor. He is also very easy to understand (no accent) so don't worry about that.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - This class is hard. First thing first, I suck at economics. Pham has a pHD from Cornell in Economics and a BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. He is smart, and sometimes struggles to bring concepts to a fundamental level. The class grade consists of homework, three exams, and a Cumulative final. Being a Cornell alum, he has an interesting grading scale. He creates a distribution of the class grade and then creates a fair grading scale. Example: if you got a 70, and the class average was a 60, your grade would be around an A / A-. At the end of the semester, an A in our class was an 85%. This is great, until you do not know what you need on the final to make an A. Nevertheless, I did well on two exams, and screwed one big time. You can make A's on the test, but he does not give you the answer key to practice exams; in order to excel, you need to do some serious textbook searching and googling. Furthermore, he does not give answers in his office. That being said, the class is relatively fair, but simultaneously frustrating. I made an A, and i got an A on the final. It is possible, but just be aware that it is hard.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2306 - Not a bad teacher but boring class. Goes over a powerpoint for the whole time. However, he gives massive curves on each test so it's worth taking! He also gives out practice problems that are on the test.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:4319 - Game Theory is kind of like a prisoner's dilemma, but since you know the Nash equilibrium, you just have to adjust your expectations and you are fine  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ECO2306 - Professor Pham is SUCH a boring teacher. He's not bad, but his lectures put me to sleep (which might also have been because I had him at 8am). This is honestly one of the most boring classes I have ever taken. Economics isn't a particularly difficult topic, but I had a really hard time paying attention in his class so I ended up teaching myself everything from the book. The homework assignments each week are easy 100s but the tests are really hard (he does curve them though). Super nice guy but insanely boring class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-11-07

Comments:2306 - Class is all lecture. He is extremely passionate about economics and it is apparent. Homework is usually once a week and is sometimes difficult but he gives you enough attempts to always end up with 100%. Tests are kind of difficult but he curves them a lot. Overall a good professor and I recommend him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Game Theory - Wonderful professor, passionate, helpful, and brilliant, recommend him to anyone and everyone who needs to take a class he teaches. 71 is far too low of a rating.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2015-11-20

Comments:Game Theory - Dr. Pham seemed legitimately interested in teaching the subject, and was good at getting his point across and explaining complex things. He chooses to lecture by writing notes on an iPad, and you can almost never read what he scribbles on the board. His SI was useless as were his test reviews. What you have to do is learn how to think for the homework and tests, because you never saw the same kind of problem twice and constantly had to invent new ways to solve each problem. Tests are all blue book and are pretty tricky, but he curves on a relative scale so almost everyone passes.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2013-12-18

Comments:4319 - I had an extremely difficult time paying attention during lectures, and he would review the material before the test, so you could still perform well. He grades the exams subjectively. He acted bothered when I went into his office hours.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Eco Development - Best class at Baylor, and I am not even an economics major! He is always available by e-mail, and sends you messages back right away. He cares so much about what he teaches. He is interesting, also.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-05-20

Comments:Game Theory - He writes on the chalkboard straight from an outline. His office hours are inflexible.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:5334 - There's nobody better to take at Baylor than Dr. Pham. He's the only prof. who teaches and doesn't just lecture. He always explains things before you move on to the next subject. You will have tough homework and readings, but you will learn more from him than any other professor. Definitely take.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Eco 5334 - Very gifted teacher. You can really tell he knows his stuff. He involves the class a great deal, and does a great job getting the message across. He makes you interested in the subject. His projects are graded somewhat arbitrarily at times.   - Grade In Class:B+
