Comments:2330 - I was really looking forward to Social World 1 going into the semester. While the readings were cool, Paul Carron was a let down and a source of anxiety. His biggest pro is that he knows the reading material well, but besides that there were a lot of cons for me. He took absolutely forever to grade anything, gave very minimal and sometimes incoherent feedback/grades, was disorganized on the whole, poor at managing class time, and bad at facilitating student discussion. Try as I might to participate, I felt like he actively shut me down. Likewise, on the few occasions I tried conversing with him after class, he never felt very reciprocal. I personally will avoid classes with Carron in the future, but some of my classmates had higher opinions of him. So, please do understand that this is just my subjective opinion.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Social World - He isn't the easiest grader but he did an incredible job at explaining difficult readings. He makes the class interesting and does a great job at preparing you for the tests.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC 2330 & 2340 - Both of these courses are framed the same so I had the same experience in both. Dr. Carron is a great small group prof. He always had a mini lecture prepared to really help us understand the readings. He's not an easy grader when it comes to the essays but is totally fair. He's big on sources so make sure you have some good ones and cite them orrectly. The courses are the same as all other BIC courses- quizzes, exams, and essays. These specific courses also want us to be aware of our community so both semesters offered different outside volunteering for extra credit. I highly recommend doing the extra credit!!! It pushed me up from an A- to an A both semesters! Overall, Dr. Carron is a really good Social World small group professor, definitely should consider taking him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC3358 - Carron is incredibly underwhelming as a lecturer. He'll bore you to tears and say nothing new while he's trying to be young and hip or something. He's got a new family, too, so it's sometimes hard to get him to reply to emails or catch him in office (though you can't hold that against him).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC3358 - Carron was really funny in the classroom and seemed to enjoy teaching our class. ...but his lecturing was sometimes boring and hard to follow. He's also tends to be a tough grader. Overall, I give him a "meh."  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC2340-SWII - I liked Carron as a person, but I didn't always understand his teaching. I don't blame him as much as the material he had to teach, but I think he tried to do a good job. Occasionally we would have a really interesting class discussion, but usually the class and Carron seemed kind of sleepy. He was defending his dissertation this semester, so I think that was a unique element that contributed to his performance, also. Overall, he's a nice guy and probably a good prof, too. ...but he is a tough grader most of the time.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:GTX - He is a really good prof! There is a lot of reading, but that's just how this class is. I am not an english person and he understood that so he wasn't too hard on us. He had study sessions for us before the tests and gave us study sheets that were very helpful for the tests! Take Carron!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC 2334 - I'm still in this class so i don't have my grade yet, but I absolutely LOVE Carron. he's such a nice professor. He's very understanding and enjoys input from the readings. He does not assign anymore homework than any of the other cultures classes. Personally I did not enjoy cultures 3, but he makes it interesting and grades very fairly. He even has you put your id on your papers instead of your name so it's not biased. Highly recommend!   - Grade In Class:C

Comments:2301 - Awesome teacher. If you're Engineering make sure you take him. He explains the texts in terms that we scientific people can understand.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2301 - Take Prof. Carron! If you like philosophy more than literature, great texts is the class for you. The tests are essay based but they are pretty straightforward. Make sure you do the nightly journal. It may seem annoying but it is worth about a test grade, so just do it. As long as you pay attention and read, you'll do great in prof carron's class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Carron is a great teacher! He has a great sense of humor. We had fewer books than the other classes and a small journal every night. The journal was kind of annoying, but it was worth it not to have to read what the other classes had to read. His tests are mostly essay, but there are only two of them and only two papers. You have to do the reading to do well, but workload is much more doable than the other teachers' classes.  - Grade In Class:A
