*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:British Literature - Rachel Moore is a wonderful professor bubbling with happiness and experience. She spends decent portions of class lecturing on life and its problems, which can actually help (in life, not really the class) if you pay enough attention. I have never seen so much extra credit in my life. She gives points just for attending class. You can watch a sunrise, recite a poem, write a poem, watch several movies, and the list runs on. In short, it is quite easy to get an A in this course. However, the midterm and final are quite difficult, especially the final (it's cumulative). They ask specific questions that require long hours of studying, and the open-ended written segment can be confusing to some people. She's a good woman and a good teacher and if you take her, get ready to hear about life, hardships, joys, and parking spots. :) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - She was a sweet lady and really cared for each of her students. She grades pretty tough, but I wrote the best essays I've ever written.. and gotten B+'s. Heh. I never got an A on an essay but I'm sure its possible.. If your like a genius. The class consist of 6 essays and a finaly exam ( an in class essay ) and some homework assignments which basically are revising your essays and others essays. Its a very laid back class and you basically have two weeks to right each essay. I really liked the class and would recommend her. There were some fun debates in her class too. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1302 - It is easy to understand how she grades, she lectures on a certain aspect of grammar, then grades harder on mistakes in that area. She is this really sweet old lady and to tell you the truth I had a lot of fun in her class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1302 - Don't take her unless u are an athlete. Plays favorites, not good at letting you know you're grade along the way. the syllibus changes frequently, and you're grade will depend on you're personal relationship (or lack thereof). the other teachers in this department are easier, and if you've had upper level English training...she might tell you you're writing is too complex and to dumb it down, then mark of 15 points for a comma. DONT TAKE HER!!! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1302 - She seems really sweet, but she is a little two-faced. She definitely has her favorites!! (mainly athletes) if you are good at grammer you will do well in her class. she counts off for every little thing in your paper and just like that you get a "C" for forgetting a few commas. it has to be perfect for her!! That aside I did learn alot and I would recommend her. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - I didnt like her teaching style but i really liked her as a person. She is really sweet. But I hated how she graded my papers. it would be marked up for really tiny mistakes. she wanted the papers her way or no way. So she is really strict but if you want to learn more on grammar you should take her. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:FYS - I had Rachel Moore for a first-year seminar in the Honors program. I expected the course to be challenging, but she didn't require very much of us. Our assignments were simple, and I learned absolutely nothing. My greatest complaint pertains to the personal attacks which she leveled at me while she and I were talking about a paper that I had written with which she did not agree. She told me that I should not be at Baylor, that I was unhappy, and that I was making a mess of my life. She thought that my joining a sorority would solve all these problems. I was quite insulted by her unsolicited interference; I believe she was just trying to avoid explaining her vacuous criticisms of my paper. She is probably only a good professor if (1) you don't want to learn anything, (2) you agree with all of her opinions and (3) you are living the sort of life that she wants you to be living. Don't expect a good grade though; she changes her assignments and expectations frequently and without warning. - Grade In Class:A
Comments: I like Mrs. Moore a lot! She is great and a very good English teacher.
Comments:american lit:i heard from everyone how great and helpful she was, so i took the class, then only saw those qualities directed towards a few specific students - those in student govt and atheletes; A LOT of reading - squeezes in one novel after another with analysis expected every night while studying poetry during class time; pop quizzes; you CANNOT afford to be absent; difficult final exam - so much material covered
Comments:She's just "weird" people. I think she does care about her students, but in this aloof/distant way. She will have no qualms about commenting on your personal life. She occasionally embarresses students in her class too. She is "grandmotherly" but in a way where you are glad she isn't your grandmother. She's not all bad. She is a hard teacher, in my opinion. You might learn a lot in her class--but you'll pay for it with the effort you put in. Watch out -- she HEAVILY favors athletes.
Comments:R. Moore, in class, comes across as a very people oriented professor, one who you could see yourself sitting with over lunch and talking about life. In person, Mrs. Moore is distant and controls the conversation, showing little interest in the lives of her students.
Comments:I had Racheal Moore for FYS Self in Contemporary Culture, and as much as she was enthused about infusing us with a strong sence of self and possibily the tools to grow as we go through life (sounds like a mother :)), she was unavalible, unclear, she did not stick to due dates and the syllubus plans changed from day to day without notice.
Comments:She cares about the students in her class, but tends to single people out for criticism. I had her for FYS 1399 English, and there was a lot of out-of-class involvement required.
Comments:I had Rachel Moore for Brit Lit. It was a great class. She is very passionate about her job and about literature. You will never be bored in her class and you will usually leave feeling motivated. She is a great teacher and the workload isn't too bad. You don't read any novels, only poetry. Also, there are no papers to write. She gives a LOT of extra credit so take advantage of it because it is a huge help in the end! Enjoy the class!
