Comments:ACC 5380 - Class is interesting, seems like it will help for FAR on the CPA exam. Dr. Ford is a great teacher and person. The class is structured a lot like the intermediate accounting classes - workout problems due once or twice per week, weekly quizzes, 5 or so cases (not bad), three exams, and the CPE project if it happens during your semester. My only complaint about the class was the CPE project; it's not bad or hard, but I don't think it benefits students that much.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:5380 - This is not supposed to be an easy course, people compare it to intermediate I and II but Cari Ford is an amazing professor, her teaching style was perfect for test preparation and the homework was very helpful and relevant. It is great prep for studying for the CPA, I will 100% reference my notes from this course while I study. She does several workout problems for each chapter and has additional practice problems available on canvas. If you know the notes, re work the problems and are able to do the homeworks without the solutions you will do well on the exams. The only complaint I have is the delayed grading, it is difficult to determine your true grade in the course because it takes a very long time for any case grade to go, it is only 15% of the grade though, tests are the majority and she grades those within 2 days. Overall you should take her!! She is very available for questions in her office and really cares about her students!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:5380 - Dr. Ford is always eager to answer questions and her notes are THE BEST. Hands down the best notes packets I've gotten in a course at Baylor. Master them (not just reading - building quizlets and review from them) and your homework problems and you'll likely get an A on your exams. She's great at explaining material and her tests are fair (Not easy by a long shot, but for accounting? Fair). Homework and research projects are really not bad, but DON'T get behind. She's brimming with enthusiasm, which can be a bit over the top at times, and her Spotify playlists to kick off class are pretty rough. That's about my only complaint. Another awesome professor for an awesome department.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is literally the best teacher I have ever had. Her teaching style is extremely effective and comes to class each day excited to teach accounting. I was scared for my first accounting class but Dr. Ford made it somewhat interesting. She assigned online homework due before each class period and written homework every other class. The class consists of 3 tests and a final. Tests are difficult due to the nature of accounting but very fair if you take good notes. Dr. Ford gives out note packets for each unit, making it easy to follow along and fill in blanks. I would suggest writing down all comments she makes; she often will say small hints that will appear directly on tests. She is super accessible; always responds to emails promptly, puts in grades timely, and truly wants to help students. Any accounting class will be hard and require a lot of studying, but TAKE DR. FORD. I wish all of my teachers taught the way she did.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - I want this woman to be my mom. The absolute best teacher I've ever had! I never thought I'd enjoy accounting, but Carie Ford is a miracle worker. She explains all the material very clearly and always answers any questions thoroughly in class. She is always available for extra help in office hours and truly wants to see all her students succeed. I always felt prepared for tests and they were never too terribly difficult. Take advantage of her office hours and work carefully through all the homework, and you will do fine!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-04

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is an incredible teacher who clearly cares about her students and loves the course material. The class is difficult, but most of that is due to the course subject. The test questions are all multiple choice, but ask questions in a way not covered in class, requiring a complete understanding of the material.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2018-11-23

Comments:3301 - Dr. Ford is the best! She is serious about her faith, knows accounting like the back of her hand, and serves on Christian Women's Job Corps, among many other things. She comes to class every day super peppy and excited to be there! She always makes class fun! She is super super knowledgeable about accounting and is so smart. She brings candy to class on Halloween, too. Intermediate I is the same structure for every professor since it's departmentalized so just choose the class off of the professor. Try to do your best on the first test since it largely is based on just financial accounting 1 and is much easier than the other exams. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Ford. Everyone I know in the class found the class difficult, but loved Dr. Ford!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-12-13

Comments:2303 - I LOVE Dr. Ford. She is the sweetest woman in the whole world. She teaches accounting so well and you can tell she is so passionate about it. There is a lot of homework in this class, but it helps you learn accounting, and financial is not an easy subject. I really love accounting, but I love it even more because of Dr. Ford. She's super approachable so going to her office hours wasn't scary. Her tests are pretty difficult, but as long as you put in the work an really study you'll do well in this class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3301 - Dr. Ford is one of the most energetic teachers I have ever had. She makes coming to class enjoyable, and she really helps make some of the monotonous material interesting. Her notes are fill in with lots of examples, and the questions in the notes and homework will prepare you for all the exams. The class is tough and starting the core is not for the faint of heart, but if you put in the work you'll do well.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-08-08

Comments:ACC 2304 - Dr. Ford is very kind, helpful, and well-intentioned. She works through the material quickly and effectively in lectures, and is especially excellent for visual learners since she frequently diagrams her information on the white board. I found the tests challenging, but not at all unreasonable, and as long as you review the lecture material, do the homework, and read the assigned chapters, you should have no problem succeeding in this class. To top it all off, she's very passionate about accounting and Baylor and really seems to love her job!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-07-05

Comments:ACC 2303 - Dr.Ford is a great professor and seems like A very nice person. She tends to rush material at the end of class sometimes to fit the syllabus schedule. Going into her test you feel confident because of the way the material is taught after the test you will realize that her test are extremely hard. I felt like I was under prepared for her exams. There is only 4 PTS extra credit the entire semester. If you feel like this class will be a struggle for you I highly suggest taking a professor who offers extra credit. I took this class again in the summer and passed with an A with a Lower rated professor. The 80 rating on bubook should actually be like an 67 because of difficulty of her test. Again If you feel confident in this course you will do great if you don't take another professor.  - Grade In Class:D

Date: 2017-06-24

Comments:ACC 3301 - I have a lot of mixed feelings about Dr.Ford... She's was good at explaining the material but her teaching didn't fully prepare you for the exams in the class. You would think you have it down and then you get into the exams and they're worded a completely different way than you've seen it before and its confusing. Also she can be very condescending and her extreme enthusiasm is uncomfortable. I'm sure she's a great Financial and grad professor but I would not recommend taking her for Intermediate. Pretty sure that almost all the people retaking this semester were in her class.  - Grade In Class:D

Date: 2017-01-12

Comments:3301 - This class is already hard enough. Dr. Ford is a very fun and quirky teacher, however she can be somewhat unreasonable. She honestly made me feel like I was uneducated and didn't know my material. I wouldn't take her again.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2016-12-14

Comments:ACC 3301 - Everyone loves Dr. Ford. Don't get me wrong, Intermediate 1 is pretty much gonna rule your life for the entire semester... But you might as well take it with a smile, which is what you'd be doing with Dr. Ford. She's great. So encouraging and also a great instructor.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2016-12-12

Comments:ACC 2303 - Dr. Ford is one of the most educated, well rounded women I have ever met at Baylor. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Financial accounting is a heavy course so there is no way round the work load and the hard tests but if you pay attention in class and study you will be fine!  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2016-11-16

Comments:3301 - This class is challenging, but you couldn't pick a better professor than Dr. Ford! She's adorable and so incredibly smart. She's a tiny lady, so she's very approachable and I felt super comfortable asking questions in her class. She also has super helpful pre-printed notes that we fill out during class which are amazing and her SI, Sarah Underwood, is the greatest!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2016-11-14

Comments:Financial - Really positive attitude, and willing (and available) to answer questions after class. Work is manageable: online and on paper homework, 3 tests, and final exam. Grading is fair, but you definitely need to study. Good class overall, and a prof that's easy to recommend, for sure.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-05-22

Comments:Financial Accounting - Dr. Ford is a wonderful, sweet, and engaging professor. There is homework for every class day (mostly online but also some written), and there are 3 exams before the departmental final. The exams are all multiple choice, but they are definitely not easy. Make sure that you really take the time to understand a concept if you don't. You should know it forwards and backwards. Accounting comes really easily to me, so I did very well in the class and found it easy. I know other people who struggle more with the subject, and they did not do as well. But Dr. Ford is super helpful, and if you go to her office hours and pay attention during the lectures she will help you out. I would highly recommend her!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-05-17

Comments:ACC 2303 - Financial is hard- there is no getting past that whoever your teacher is. That being said Dr. Ford is 100% the best choice. She explains the material in such depth and does not move on until you know it. The tests are super difficult, and the comprehensive departmental sucks- but other than that its not that bad. Just make sure to study hard for the exams and you'll be fine. Dr. Ford is truly one of my favorite professors of all time and she tries to get to know all students which makes the class more bearable.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2016-05-14

Comments:ACC 2303 - TAKE DR FORD! She is down to earth and a wonderful lady. She is very organized and has everything she does down to a science. With that, she can be perceived as difficult and not nice. However, if you pay attention and take advantage of what she offers, you will be surprised with where it will get you! What I mean by that is, she offers exam replacement (if your final grade is higher than your lowest test grade she will replace it) ONLY IF you have 2 or few absences in the class and do not disrupt class or are on your phone. Also, if you keep your nameplate and turn it in on the second exam, she will give you an extra 2 points on the exam which is super helpful. Also, if 90% of the class takes the course evals, 2 points will be added to the third exam. Now, for me, I didn't miss a single class, I did well on the homework and would pay attention in the class but I still found the exams to be VERY DIFFICULT. Thankfully, I busted my butt studying for the final and pulled out a 90 which through exam replacement, replaced my 79 with a 90. After all was said and done, I waited for my grade. I ended with an 89.48 which in her books is an A-. I didn't bother asking for extra points or to be bumped up .52 points to an A, but since I had perfect attendance and behaved in class she sent me an email saying she made a mistake and bearweb reported an A- instead of an A. She gave me the benefit of the doubt and because of that, I am a huge fan of Carie Ford. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-05-10

Comments:ACC 2302 - Dr. Ford is extremely nice and helpful. She explains things clearly in class and makes materials available for outside learning. There are 3 tests and a final, and she lets the final replace your lowest test score. Take her!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2014-12-21

Comments:ACC 2303 - Accounting is not an easy subject and it takes a special mind to have a complete understanding of it. With that being said, Dr. Ford does a very good job of teaching accounting to students. Her homework load is very manageable and she explains things slowly so you can keep up with her lecture. The exams are all multiple choice. I'd say the most difficult chapters in the course are Chapter 3 (accruals) and Chapter 9 (stocks and bonds). The course is very sequential, so if you aren't understanding the earlier material, you won't understand the later material. Dr. Ford will help you, but much of the course is in your ballpark.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2014-12-18

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is GREAT teacher. The majority of other students who are in Accounting the same time as you do not understand the material to the extent of her class. Not only is she extremely available and very helpful, but she is really eager to see students succeed in her class and to love accounting. There is a decent amount of work in her class, but if you do the practice and put in the time, it's really to understand the class if you keep up.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2014-11-12

Comments:ACC 2303 - With accounting, you either understand it or you don't. Dr. Ford does a great job in teaching the necessities of accounting for all business students. If you're a student that wants to learn more in-depth she will teach you the extras after class. The workload is not bad. There is homework due every class period but it's not hard and takes on average 10 minutes to complete. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and wished she taught more upper-level accounting classes. I would definitely take her over any other accounting professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2014-05-14

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is such a sweet woman and cares a lot about you learning the material. She tries to make her class fun and energetic which is nice. She is also always available and is always willing to help you understand everything whether it's in class or outside. The workload isn't much at all and the tests aren't made to trick you. I would take her if possible, she is wonderful!  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2014-05-10

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is a nice lady but as students that doesn't matter to us, what matters is the difficulty of the class. My class was combined with honor students and they made great grades on her exams like A's which always made the class average high. Others suffered. We had 4 exams and a final which all counted equally percent wise. Her exams were difficult and required that you know the concept and how everything relates with each other. You'd have to do the hw, read the book and go for SI to pass with an A. There was hw on MAL due every class period and I had her Tuesday & Thursday. The exams were about 38-43 multiple choice questions so you had no room to mess up as each question was about 3 points each. Lastly we had a stock game project. We each had to pick a company to invest in and each time before an exam we would have to turn it in for a grade. We had 5 in total worth 10%. The hw was worth 5% and the exams were 17% each. We also occasionally had written hw over the weekend that counted for 2 hw grades. She refused to replace your lowest grade with your final so w/e you get stays. Her class is no joke so if you have her, go in prepared.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:2304 - Dr. Ford is literally the best accounting professor at Baylor! She is always available, just make sure you do the assignments and you will make an A like I did!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC2303 - The greatest professor I have met! Dr Ford made me like accounting so much because her class is pretty fun. Her office hour was pretty helpful, she explained clearly. And her tests were not hard and were all multiple choices. But you still can learn a lot by the excellent way she is teaching. Especially the examples she went through in the class and the pencasts she posted on BB.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2013-12-16

Comments:2302 - Dr. Ford is the best! Her class changed a lot between previous years and this year, It was not very difficult at all. I would have gotten an A if I had studied more for the first couple of tests. They are very straight to the point and only over 2 chapters. Most classes do it over 3+ chapters. She is hilarious and sweet and tries to get to know everyone. We do My Accounting Lab homework which is an easy 100. We did 5 stock games that were very easy and given ahead of time. The final was quite difficult, but if you do well on the first four exams you won't need a high score on the final as it is the same percentage as a normal exam. It also replaces the lowest test grade. She is really so nice and a great teacher.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2013-12-14

Comments:3310 - This class was way easier than I expected. I was really worried about this class heading into the second semester of the accounting core. There is a lot of assignments throughout the semester and make sure you do it all. It is worth 35% of your grade. Don't put way too much thought and work into the assignments because I swear half the time she doesn't even grade it and just put 100s on them. On some of the main assignments throughout the semester you'll be confused on why you got such a low grade. I wrote a terrible paper once and my friend wrote an amazing paper and he got a B and I got an A. So she is def bias but she was bias towards me so It was awesome. You’re going to be spending most of your time researching various cases throughout the semester. There is 2 huge case competitions which you have about 2 weeks to work on and present to people from a Big 4 firm. These presentations are extremely nerve wrecking but your presenting skills will improve a ton after taking this class. There is 3 presentations the entire semester so its not bad at all. One presentation we had the day after Dia which sucked. Carie is going to have many pointless class periods throughout the semester and it kind of sucked but it was whatever. There is no test in this class which is awesome. Just presentations. Do everything assigned and you should make at least B worst case. I was so surprised when I saw I made an A. I calculated my grade and wasn't even possible to make an A but I guess she bumped me up an entire point. She’s a great lady and def will brighten your morning each day. I dream about this lady. She is so sexy. The things I'd do to her. I am going to miss seeing her next semester.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Acc 2303 - I had never gotten a C in a class before this one. I'm not going to blame this on Dr. Ford though- she's great. Her class was really boring, but she tries so hard to make it entertaining. She's a great professor and she really knows what she's talking about. I'm not sure why I did so poorly in the class, but it has nothing to do with Dr. Ford. She's great!  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2013-05-14

Comments:2303 - I cannot say enough about Dr. Ford! She is, by far, the best professor I have had at Baylor thus far. She is a great teacher and makes a difficult subject fun and enjoyable. Be sure to go see her in office hours if you have any questions - she is very helpful and friendly.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2013-01-14

Comments:3310 - Dr. Ford will make you laugh every class. She's just bubbly & goofy! However, she did make group research assignments due with two days notice which was miserable. Research in general was just miserable. She will try to make you buy the books...don't. You never use them except for once or twice. Overall the class is relatively easy, just time consuming. The final.... is take home, but takes forever it seems like! Take Crazy Carie, she isn't so bad ;)  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2012-04-30

Comments:ACC 2303 - My favorite professor i have had. Thoroughly explains everything and is so sweet. I completely understand everything because of her lectures, and did not have to do much extra work outside of class. TAKE HER!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2012-02-02

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is the nicest lady I've ever met. Even though I did not do too well in the class, I would definitely recommend her to anyone. My main problem was that I never really read the book until the day before the test. If you stay on top of things, you will do fine in this class. I really enjoyed class because she did a good job at going through examples.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2012-01-12

Comments:ACC 3310 - This is a time consuming class. She grades stuff really hard, but she will take it easy toward the end of the semester. She grades the take home final very easy (mainly depends on how much effort you put into it). Your presentation and writing skill is the key to succeed in this class. Nice personality and excited about teaching. Your presentation skill will definitely improve if you take this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-05-20

Comments:3310 - This class is so frustrating. We have 2 projects that totaled to 55% of our grade and we got a week to work on each one. The grading of these were so arbitrary too, I feel like she just assigned a grade on how she feels or what she thinks is right but doesn't have an explanation for it. She is a horrible teacher and acts like she is speaking to preschoolers when she teaches. The class is a waste of time, and definitely needs development. The final is very easy though, takes a lot of time but is an easy A if it is started early enough  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - Wow looking at her all class period makes the class go by fast!  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2009-05-12

Comments:Financial - Shes a great teacher. Her pretests suck not because they are hard but because you have to be up at school all the time taking them. HOWEVER, they do really help you learn the material and pay off huge dividened on her tests, which aren't terribly hard. If you make an A on the test, then you dont have to take pretests for the next test which is very sweet. She makes this hard class easy because she drills it into you. Keep up, take notes, ask questions and youll do great. Just like any other class...  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-01-08

Comments:3310 - This lady is ridiculous. You might get a good grade, but she will drive you crazy. She is never prepared and has no idea what she is doing. She did, though, help my presentation skills.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-05-07

Comments:2303 - I really liked Dr. Ford and her teaching style. She did lots of problems on the board and constantly worked things out. This class is just difficult in general, but I recommend Dr. Ford, she is amazing!  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2008-02-19

Comments:2303 - Accounting can be hard, I flew through it because its my major and I have some experience. Ford is the professor to get for it though. 20% of your grade can be a HIGH A if you go to all the classes and take your time on the HW. Just make C's and B's on the tests (first is a gimme) and you can make a B. THERE IS NO EXCUSE NOT TO MAKE A "C" IN THIS CLASS.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2007-12-29

Comments:2303 - Dr. Ford is awesome!! Face it, accounting sucks but Dr. Ford makes it so bearable and actually interesting. She is so energetic, fun, and young. Just do the homework which she lets you do over until you get a 100 on it, and do the chapter quizzes to study for the tests. All tests are MC. Great teacher!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2007-11-07

Comments:3310 - Dr. Ford can be very aggravating. Every time she lectures, it's as if she's looking at her powerpoints for the first time, which doesn't really matter since most of the lecture is devoid of content. She gives numerous meaningless homework assignments that are only useful in that they inflate your grade. She uses an odd grading scheme and detailed rubrics that end up giving a high grade (average final grade in Spr. '07 was an 88, there was only 1 C) She takes forever to grade assignments and then doesn't seem to know why she assigned each grade. It's easy to see in her office, which is good since you'll probably have a lot of questions about why she graded you the way she did. After this class, the only you'll have learned is how to use FARS...which is very painful.  - Grade In Class:A
