Comments:World Cultures 1 - Dr. Long is AMAZING. Seriously. He's always excited to be in class and it made me enjoy the class so much more. He does a great job of getting to the deeper meaning in the text and if you listen in class, you can write all that back down on the essay portion of the tests. He's a super easy grader and if you aren't doing well, he'll be more than happy to help. He really tries to get to know his students and make them feel welcome in class. If you want a good grade and a professor that respects you, take Dr. Long.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Cultures 4 - Mark Long is the Michael Jordan of professors. He has the unique ability to spark the interest of everyone in the class and create discussions with meaning beyond grades. This course covers the history of the US, and there is no man who loves his country more than Dr. Long. He will pass this love onto you if you put an effort into the class. DISCLAIMER: Get your typing fingers ready, because his class fills up faster than the collapse of RG3's football career. As far as class details, there are quizzes every small group based on the readings. There are 2 papers around 5-7 pages each, and both tests are a mix of MC and short answers. You have extra credit opportunities similar to the Extended Learning papers from other Cultures classes. In my opinion, the difficulty for everything is slightly easier than Cultures 2 and 3. Have a blast.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SW1 - No words can describe how truly amazing Dr. Long is! He is so passionate about his students and the course material. His love for the material is contagious. I always left this class in a happy mood. Take Dr. Long every chance you get.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC 2330 - Dr. Long is a saint! He is one of the nicest men that I have ever known and genuinely cares not only about your grades but you as a person. He is always ready to talk about whatever you need to talk about and really listens to the concerns of his students. I cannot say enough good things about this man and if I got the chance to take him for every one of my classes I would. IF you do get the chance, TAKE HIM!!!! You will not regret it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2344 - Dr. Long is a wonderful man and teacher with a brilliant mind and kind heart. There are few that match his excellence in teaching, but also expressing the human side of a profession overshadowed by the ivory tower of academia. In truth, I cannot see a downside in taking Dr. Long; he will leave you inspired and craving for more to learn. He made me a better person and student with a more positive outlook on life and the world in general. It' has been a genuine blessing being able to spend two semesters worth of classes with him.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC 1314 - Imagine a storyteller of old relating the great and wonderful tales of old. This is basically what each class is like with Dr. Long. He possesses an excellent inside grasp of each culture you study and sincerely wants to instill in you passion about the subject. He grades his journals very easy, but I found myself putting in extra work just because he was so inspiring. Above all else, he wants you to succeed and he wants to inspire you. Additionally, he teaches the narratives you read through a lens of story. He firmly believes in the power of story and how it personally relates to us today. There is simply no reason not to take Dr. Long; he is the best. You will find yourself a different person at the end of the course, most likely. Accept his offers of xenia. --Ben P. Comments:World Cultures I - THE teacher to take for World Cultures. All the other comments have basically said all that needs to be said. I got a B+ because I was an idiot and forgot about the Mosque paper. Please don't be an idiot like me. Dr. Long is so inspiring that I stayed in BIC. I had a terrible Rhetoric professor, and in the spring semester, I had a boring WCII professor. I stayed in the program hoping to meet Dr. Long again. That is how great he is.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:WCI - Dr. Long is an inspiring professor who consistently engages the class in meaningful discussion about life, purpose, integrity, etc. He is very respectful in dealings with students. Dr. Long expects you to read carefully before coming to class. Preparing adequately takes a considerable amount of time, but it\'s worth it. He will help you on your journey.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:World Cultures I - Best professor I have ever had. Passionate, brilliant, funny, and loves his job. I would create my schedule around the ability to get a class with Dr. Long. Homework was not bad at all, mostly just keep up with the reading, which sounds hard but he makes the discussions so interesting that you WANT to read the book before class starts. Tests were fair and graded pretty lightly. Studying is advised, but shouldn't be too difficult.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:World IV - Dr. Long is by far the best professor that I have had at Baylor. He has been an inspiration, and has helped realize what I want to do with the rest of my life. He is a very fair grader. His tests are easy, but they ask the right questions. He's amazing at explaining the readings, and his teaching method is somewhat unorthodox, but by far my favorite. You will never want to skip class. Every class was enjoyable. Get to know him. It's worth it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2344-World Cultures IV - Dr. Long is absolutely, without a doubt the BEST professor I have had at Baylor. History isn't my favorite subject but his insane passion for the material we covered made me want to learn and contribute to class discussions. He is truly a wonderful man and I very highly recommend taking him for any class he teaches, you won't regret it  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:WCV - Very helpful, very willing to meet with students. Be prepared to read a lot (hundreds of pages) if you decide to take Long. Tests were very fair and were accurate measures of course material. Insightful lectures, though repetitive at time. Long carries with him an inspiring sense of duty--he makes diligence addictive. While I definitely recommend his section for WCV, remember that it will NOT be a walk in the park.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:World Cultures IV and V - I have since graduated from Baylor (class of 2007), and I wanted to post this rating for the benefit of those who are thinking about taking Dr. Mark Long. He is an inspirational professor and his teachings will follow you after you've left Waco. I highly recommend him.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC 1314 - I didn't actually have Dr. Long in small group, but in large group he was one of my favorites to hear, (with Dr. Hanks being the other part of the dynamic duo). I did have him for an honors section and he is absolutely incredible. Wish I would've had him for small group.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:I had the man for WC 1. He made it very interesting. I've never met a teacher who had more passion about the subject matter or for his students. He's always available to help and very accomodating. I'd def recommend him for ANY class. Actually, I'd recommend getting to know him even if you have no class of his.
