Comments:REL 3319 - Dr Novakovic for Interpreting the New Testament is not the way to go if you have other options for religion classes. This is not getting to read the NT and try to interpret it rather learning all the methods of interpretations with barely interactions with scripture. She teaches exactly from powerpoints which is ok, but my concern comes with the work. The midterm and final were very specific questions and with not a lot of time (55 min for 50 multiple choice and three short answer for midterm). The paper (around 6000 words) was even worse. She gave us very little detail on the specifics of what an exegesis paper just quick updates at the end of class and then expected us to write at a high level. She does the exegesis paper in parts and then will add thirty comments on your work for that small section which at times do not seem kind. I know this is across the board as many students in the class I was in mentioned the same thing. The final nail in the coffin were reading quizzes in which she would email us the day of at 8pm that we have and we had to finish it by midnight, which is intention to make sure we read (and check emails). Overall I got an A- (93 is an A [Don't know how you'd get an A]), but I had to work way too hard compared to every other religion class. I would recommend finding another professor if there is another who teaches interpreting the NT or take interpreting the OT instead though I don't know who teaches it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Ok to be honest Novakovic was good, however, her TA Rodney Kilgore was awful. He is a doctoral candidate and grades as if he's grading doctoral papers. He grades the reflections incredibly hard in fact there has yet to be a 100 and the semester is practically over.Even after confronting him he refuses to tell you why points were taken off of assignments and how to fix them. I think he just assumes everyone is a religion major, or at least that is what it seems like. Other than this Novakovic just gives quizzes and tests which are fairly easy as long as you study the powerpoints.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1310 - TAKE HER!! I was worried that Scriptures would drop my GPA as a premed, but her class is very easy! The exams are all multiple choice with extra credit, and all the information comes from her powerpoints. There are a few small writings (400 words) that are easy A's also. She's also one of the sweetest professors here and she really cares about her students. Some people have said her accent is hard to understand but I don't agree with that at all.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Took her class and it was ridiculously easy. She'll give tons of extensions for coursework as long as you email her and the tests come literally from highlighted material on slideshows. Guaranteed "A" in the course as long as you give minimal effort  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - TAKE HER!!! I had her for scriptures and she was so nice. Her class is pretty much the same thing. She tells you exactly what is on the test in her lectures and gives you a study guide for each test. I never had to read for her class and still always scored very high on the test.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - honestly not a hard class if you pay attention every day and actually take notes. if you take notes and learn the material it's an easy A. you don't need to read any of the reading and the tests are straight from the power points. i messed around the entire semester and pulled a B even though my test average is a C. she's super understanding and really is sweet. just do the work and you'll be fine. or mess around and get a B like me. either way this class is not stressful  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Christian Scriptures was a fairly easy class. The powerpoints include everything you need to know for the exams and Dr. Novakovic also provides study guides for each test. Honestly, you can get away with not reading the Bible or the Christian Scriptures book. She does have an accent, but I didn't find it difficult to understand her at all. The class was composed of 13 5-question multiple-choice quizzes. 3 of your lowest quizzes were dropped and although the quizzes were unannounced, they were over the information from the last class period and were generally common sense answers. There are also 3 80 question multiple choice tests that are pretty straightforward. There are 4 reflection papers that you have to do, but the papers are 300 words minimum and she provides you with all the questions that you need to answer and the TA grades. The final was 2 parts: Part one was like a standard 80 question test covering the last unit. Part 2 was 50 questions that were cumulative. This class ended up being super easy especially compared to my other friends' Christian Scriptures classes. Take her if you can!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL - Definitely recommend her!! Her exams came straight out of her powerpoints, and you can tell she's very passionate about the history of christianity.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I have no idea why she has such a low rating, this is a great class. The tests are 100% from the powerpoint. She gives a study guide out before the test with everything that will be on the test, and even hosts review sessions if you want to go to those. She is a wonderful professor who loves her job, and she made me enjoy this class a lot. Wonderful women I promise!! She deserves a 100!! Everyone complaining about her has no idea how bad some of the other 1310 teachers are.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I dropped this class because I got a 40 on the first test. This class will be hard if you haven’t had any christian history classes before. Her accent makes things much more difficult. She is so sweet and funny, but do yourself a favor and don’t take her. She shouldn’t have this high of ratings!!  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:REL 1310H - I took Dr.Novakovic for honors christian scriptures, and I found her to be quite sweet and helpful. She is really not that hard to understand, you just need to listen and pay attention in class. Her exams come straight from her powerpoints, so pay attention in class and study those powerpoints! She gives study guides for her exams and they are probably the greatest thing ever so go over them and make sure you know everything on it. An A is easy to get if you just read the information she gives you. She has 14 quizzes over readings from the bible and she drops your lowest 3. They are very easy, but once again you need to read!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1310 - Novakovic can be hard to understand because of her accent. She is an okay teacher but reads straight off the power points. Her daily quizzes are not super hard. If you have grown up in the church you will get an 80% on them and if you read you will get an 100%. The exams are somewhat difficult but if you go through all the power points you will be fine. There is no need to read the book but do read the Bible. Exams are multiple choice and easy to cross off answers. There are 5 800 word papers but as long as you use your own thoughts you will get a grade in the 90s. It is a very boring class as far as material goes but not super hard with Novakovic.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3319 - Dr. Novakovic is one of the best professors in the Religion Department. She is scholarly and competent. Her class is an overview of different methodologies, so you just kind of go through them one by one. It is a moderate amount of reading and she gives daily quizzes. I found I could skim the readings relatively quickly and still score reasonably well. There is a major exegesis paper, and she will let you know if she thinks your paper is lacking. Her comments can be brutal, but she wants you to write like a scholar, so try to be concise and engage with the text in the ways she wants you to. She offers plenty of help with the paper by making it due in stages--you turn in most of it in pieces throughout the semester. All she really wants, though, is for you to thoughtfully engage important, scholarly sources. I got her advice about initial direction for my paper and solid sources for my paper. I got a 98 on it. She can be hard to pay attention to in class--her teaching style is very boring--but she is easy to talk to outside of class and she wants to help you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Professor Novakovic is honestly so amazing. Her accent is a little tough, but if you pay attention it is not a hard barrier to overcome. The class is fairly easy. There are short 5 question quizzes every day- but if you read they are an easy 100. Also, she drops like 6 at the end of the semester, and offers extra credit. She is so sweet and VERY understanding! She excused several of my absences and let me make up quizzes. Also, she is VERY knowledgeable. She knows what she is talking about. I highly recommend her for scriptures.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Rel 1310 - This teacher is not good, simply put. She's very intelligent and knowledgeable, but her teaching is lackluster. She also required a lot of memorization from her powerpoints. If you can crunch an entire powerpoint, down pat, then you won't have any problems, but that style isn't for most. She has little flexibility in tests. They are hard, critical thinking questions. Only 10 points of extra credits, 5 each on the two tests, she required every book of the Old and New Testament, respectively, to be known in order for the 5 points. Pretty ridiculous. Her final was 150 questions, and a pain. Overall, do not take this professor if you have the option. If you have to take her, know that you'll be working hard for that A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Scriptures - Novakovic was my Summer Christian Scriptures professor. She was amazing. Very friendly and very helpful! Not to mention sweet. However, if you're looking for a cake walk I wouldn't go with her. You'll definitely get an education in her course! But you'll also work very hard for your grade. I suggest flashcards...lots and lots of flashcards.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2013-08-23

Comments:1310 - I personally took the time to do all of the Prof's readings and came to class prepared to learn the material. However, I am not from an extremely religious background and she is a well-rounded scholar. This can make things difficult if you don't already have a general knowledge of what all is going on. Had I known a little more up front, I would have had no issue whatsoever.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2013-08-16

Comments:1310 - Dr. Novakovic is a fairly easy professor. She sticks to her syllabi and makes minor changes. I hardly ever read and almost achieved a B, but oh well. For those who don't ever miss a reading assignment, Novakovic is your teacher. Quizzes are extremely easy if you can read with comprehension and tests mirror quizzes and the readings. All her lectures are posted up on BlackBoard after each class, so you don't even have to listen in class, but why waste your time? Reflection papers are extremely easy, and offers plenty of extra credit. She's fairly easy, but it is hard to comprehend half of the things she says due to her thick accent. It's also hard to stay awake because she will lecture from beginning to end! Never expect to get out of the class early unless it's a test day or final!  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2010-12-19

Comments:Rel 1310 - She is a great teacher. She gave about one quiz a week and assigned reflection papers based on the readings (which really aren't that bad). She also offers extra credit options that help tremendously. I would definitely recommend taking her.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-12-14

Comments:1310 - This class is not too difficult. There are 10 quizzes that are 11 questions each, and each question is worth 10 pts. So you can get 9 right and still get a 100. The quizzes are over the readings which are only about 20 pages at MOST. There are also 10 reflection papers that you have to write, each one being between 500 and 600 words each. These are graded by her TA and they are normally graded pretty graciously, as long as you back up your thoughts. The best part about the quizzes and reflection papers is that she only takes the top 8 from both. In addition to the extra credit points on the quizzes, she gives a total of 20 extra credit points that is added to your grade (not on your average, but on the cumulative points). And on the general competency quiz, after getting 5 questions right, you get a point for every question you get right after that. The tests are straight from her powerpoints she goes over in class. So study those and you will do fairly well. But be sure to study them carefully because the hardest questions are the really detailed ones that come from the quotes throughout her powerpoints. The tests are usually 105 questions. The last 5 questions are extra credit questions as well. I think she has been my favorite professor this semester and would gladly take her class again. Take her if you get the chance to.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Christian Scriptures - i am in this class now and its awful. she doesnt explain anything well. her accent can be funny but its really distracting. she is nice and met with me and wanted to help but she didnt tell me how to study any better. her tests and quizzes are so hard and so random. and the class is so boring. religion at baylor is hard no matter what.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:REL 1310 - Dr. Novakovic, she needs to learn to lecture better. She knows the material EXTREMELY well I just think that she doesn't deliver as well as she could. There is quite alot of reading due in this class and her weekly quizzes are tough. Her tests are even harder, some of the questions are essentially quotes from the Bible and you need to know who said it and when/why and what book it's from. I think I did poorly on every tests and I'm an Honors student who knows how to study and memorize things verbatim. She gives extra credit, only bout 50 points out of the 1 million you get overall in the class, so it's only a buffer for about 2 points.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Great proffesor. Gives out alot of extra credit (on tests, quizzes, and random extra credit opportunities). There is kind of alot of reading but its alright. There is a one page reflection paper (that you can bs and get an A on) and quizzes on thursdays. She chooses easy questions that people should get rights. She gives out study guides for the tests and the final. The tests are directly from the powerpoints but she is kind of boring at times. I would take her over most other religion teachers.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4311 (NT) - Great teacher - very thought provoking and not as close minded as a lot of Baylor Religion profs. Basically just tests from her power points. Keep up with the writing assignments though, they're a big part of your grade. I would have had an easy A in this class, but I missed the final so I ended up with a B.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2009-02-07

Comments:3319 - To be honest this class was not at all what I thought it would be. Lots and lots of theory - the only interpretation that gets done is your exegesis at the end and some random lectures that fill space after you cover all the theory. Dr. Novakovic is really nice and absolutely brilliant, but the class kind of bored me at times.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - This was a really easy class. She works totally off of Powerpoints which include all of the marerials on the tests. She makes great study guides listing exactly what terms and concepts are on every exam. She does have an accent, but it's easy to understand and entertaining with certain words. She's a very inteligent woman with a great story and probably knows more about the Bible than the people who wrote it.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-01-22

Comments:REL 1310 - ABSOLUTELY take this class! Religion classes are some of the most difficult @ Baylor, and as my friends were going through hell studying for their class, I only had to skim the posted lectures - once! TAKE THIS CLASS.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-01-05

Comments:1310 - The reason I give her high scores here is that her class is very easy. In class she goes over her lectures, and you don't have to take notes because she posts the lectures on blackboard after class. She speaks with a heavy accent, which can be good or bad; it was entertaining sometimes... (ex. plague pronounced plog) Do not be intimidated by the reading syllabus she gives out in the beginning. I never had to open any of my books for this class. If you study.. well, basically memorize the lecture information, that is what she makes her tests out of. On top of that, on tests there have always been 10-15 points of extra credit. Oh, on the subject of quizzes, you'll have 10 throughout the semester, and she drops the lowest 2. She'll warn you the class before that you'll be having a quiz next time, and it will cover the new material she covered in lecture(the powerpoints) that she hasn't already quizzed you on. I think she understands that we aren't all religion majors... so the quiz questions are really really easy too... I highly would recommend taking her. Oh right, if you smile and nod when she looks your direction during class, she might like you more and ignore the fact that you're working on sudoku while sitting in the second row =D  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Amazing teacher. She is from Croatia, and she has an accent, but other than that she is fabulous. The tests are very easy and there is a quiz once a week. She gives extra credit on everything and gives two extra credit essays. My grade ended up being a 100.9 and i didn't read most of the assignments. As long as you look over her powerpoints posted on blackboard before a test or quiz you'll get an A.   - Grade In Class:A
