Comments:4368 - As a senior currently applying for graduate school for audiology, I can honestly say Dr. Murphy makes me want to rethink this career path. I started this class excited to learn more about audiology and now it's the class I look forward to the least. The level of unorganization is astounding. We didn't receive the syllabus until three weeks into the semester and it was changed three times. In addition, she moved two quizzes twice due printer issues and forgetting. The test had more material from the Intro to Audiology class than her own class. She uses a different professor's powerpoints and seldom seems prepared for class. With such an amazing CSD faculty I am disappointed that my education is being restricted by this one professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4368 - I wanted to go to Audiology graduate school, and this class is one of few audiology related classes that Baylor offers, and I am truly disappointed. I have learned little to nothing and I am bored to death. She takes weeks to go over one power point, and then blames her shortcomings on the length of the class and the professor who wrote the powerpoint. The class runs really behind, and not all of the material is covered. There were three syllabuses given out and the date of every project, quiz, and test was changed either the day of or a few days before.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4368 - This is by far the most boring class I have ever had which is very unfortunate considering this major is so great. I had Dr. Drew for audiology and learned so much, I was so excited to take this class and learn more, but did not learn anything. She constantly revised the syllabus, canceled quizzes, while never taking responsibility. She never knew the answers to questions we have regarding the material. We had a project that everyone struggled with because we had not yet gone over the slides with the information needed for the project. She is not helpful and you have to teach yourself the material. It's unfortunate that she is the only professor for this class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4368 - She is honestly one of the worst teacher's I have ever had. She has come late to multiple classes. She has changed the date of the quizzes on the quiz day--so we would study for hours to only have it changed (this happened twice--once because she had printer issues and another because she forgot about the quiz????). Her tests have information that we did not go over in class....It took her 8 class periods to get through one four page powerpoint. We have had three new revised syllabus'. She uploads nothing on canvas. She does not take responsibility when she makes a mistake. It takes weeks to get our grades back. When asked a question, she is unable to answer or answers in a way that does not actually answer the question. I have multiple friends who are applying for audiology graduate school that are considering changing majors because they dislike the class so much. Honestly very disappointed in this class- I really was looking forward to learning more about audiology. Most importantly, I feel like I have learned nothing that will aid me in my education. I am disappointed in the quality of this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4301 - Murphy is... well, Murphy is an interesting Professor. She is super, super sweet, but a pretty awful teacher. She lectures inconsistently, and is really hard to pay attention to. Some days she will cover 4 slides, and another day she will cover 40. To be honest - all you need to do in class is fill in the blanks. If you read through them before taking the online quizzes and use her Quia games, you will be all set. Her exams are easy if you understand the material, AND there is extra credit on them. And, you DON'T need the book!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4301 - You will be doing yourself a favor. She is a great! Very laid back and positive and gains your respect very easily so you will want to do good in the class not only for you, but for her as well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CSD 4358 - Dr. Murphy is a horrible teacher. She is a really great person, but she should not be teaching. She takes forever to get through one slide and you will not get your test grade back until the night before or the morning of your next test with her. She does not give very much homework, but for Speech Science, she gave us these bizarre group projects that should have been done individually. Her tests are difficult, and so are the online quizzes she posts. The good thing about the quizzes though: you can take it twice and your highest score is what is recorded. She never asks questions from the notes for those- just google them and find them all on one quizlet site. She really knows what she is talking about, but it is difficult to get her to start talking about it... - she was the same way for Audiology. Best of luck  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4301 - I will be honest. Dr. Murphy is a sweetheart but being in her class bores me to death. She really does tend to repeat herself over and over again. Sometimes she comes across as a bit awk or like loses her thoughts. Unfortunately, as a speech path major you have to take her for more than one class. I even went to an office hour and she thought she was helping me but I left there as clueless as when I walked in and had to get help from a classmate. Tests were okay, you really have to know your stuff to an extent obviously. It's multiple choice mainly and she has some bonus point questions spread out on it as well. There are online quizzes which weren't bad at all. I was actually very thankful for those and also for the quia games she makes available.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:AUD 4301 - Dr. Murphy is so sweet, she gets a little repetitious at times and the slides tend to get a bit boring, but as long as you study the slides you will do great. She adds quia games on he Bb which help a tremendously with test study and the quizes help you prepare and bring your grade up. As long as you pay attention and study the slides you will have an A!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Audiology - I hate to be mean, but I want to be honest. I think that Dr. Murphy is a great person, however, I do not like her teaching style and find her class the most boring class I've ever had at Baylor - and I'm a Junior. The tests were not too hard, but that's if you can stay awake in the class and actually listen. She spends half of the class on one powerpoint slide and just repeats the same thing over and over. It was her first semester, but still. She took months to grade our tests, but at least they weren't too difficult. With as awful as the class itself was, she was much better if you went to her one-on-one. I have her again this semester (I have to) and she seems better, so I'm hopeful she's getting used to Baylor. Did I mention that half of the class skipped every day?  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4301 - It was Dr. Murphy's first year, but I have to say she did a great job. A week before the final, she helped me review some material I was confused about. She honestly knows her information and cares about the subject. She took some time to grade our tests, but we have to understand that professors have to keep up with a lot.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4301 - In all fairness to the prof, this is her first semester here and she is trying to get settled and used to a different environment. Cut her a little slack. She had never used blackboard before and at first it took her a long time to get the hang of it. I agree that the lectures are incredibly boring but she tries very hard to accomodate everyone, and is extremely helpful if you have any questions. Tests are very easy if you study, and the quizzes are a good measure of what you need to know.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4301 - This professor is an awful teacher. Extremely dry, boring lectures along with long repetitive powerpoints. Unless she leaves Baylor...there is no hope for students! She starts with no syllabus, and takes months to return grades. The only good point about her class is that the tests are not too hard, and she doesn't seem to notice or mind if you study for your other classes while sitting in hers!  - Grade In Class:B
