Comments:2304 - Where do I start? Hmm if you're reading this and you're registered, I strongly suggest, you go back to bearweb right now and drop the class before its too late!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!! He has good stories, but those stories aren't going to help you get a B on his exams. The paper is unbelievable and if your classmates are jerks then you're doomed as well! Best of luck to you if its past withdrawal time or you have 12 hours !!  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:2304 - 2304 British Literature- HIS REAL NAME IS WILLIAM VERGIL DAVIS for one thing, for some thing this site has him down as Bill Davis. I dont even know where to begin with this guy. In class he is arrogant and expects his students to know things that he never teaches or are covered in the book, such as random IDs and a poem's meter. His quizes are simple enough but those are a mere 10% of the grade; the real terror are his tests. He grades the essay and analysis poems as though everybody in this sophomore undergrad level class were English major-grad students, and in the ID portion most of the IDs will never be mentioned once in class. Overall he should be teaching grad-level classes not 2304....  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:4305 - I've taken Dr. Davis several times and he is one of the most important professors in my career as a student. He knows just about everything there is to know about poetry--modern and contemporary. He is an excellent critic, and his advice is invaluable to my writing. A tough professor, sure, and he has given me a B+ before, but if you are serious about wanting to improve your poems, take him. His own poems are excellent, and his voice is a proven one in the poetry world.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3204 - Dr. Davis has been the most incorrigible and horrific professor I have ever experienced at Baylor University. If you want to feel stepped on, worthless, and completely disregarded as a person than take Dr. Davis. He doesn't care about your opinion and demands perfection. He is a brilliant man, but he should be teaching graduate level classes. Davis is never available, and shouldn't be considered a teacher. All he does during class is talk about his personal relationship with all of the authors. He claims the Simon and Garfunkel stole his poetry, and will tell you endless stories about how great he is. I've never met a man who thinks so highly of himself. Overall, I should have dropped the class. DON'T SIGN UP FOR HIM. However, maybe you'll get lucky like I did and get switched from a nice professor into his class. Gotta love the English department. Good luck with this horrible man.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2304 - I just transferred to Baylor when I was in his 2304 course (it wasn't a requirement to take at my former university). I haven't even received a B in three years until I was GIVEN a C in his class. I was only able to afford Baylor thanks to my writing skills in application to outside scholarships. Anyway, the syllabus is ambiguous to his expectations of how the student will construct or even format their papers. For instance, on a presentation you give he asks you to write out a simple one page outline for the ten minute presentation. He says it is written just to refresh himself on what the students touched on.(<---molestation joke. Check.) He will say that he is going to grade your presentation. BUT! he is going to grade the outline! On mine he wrote things like "too vague". ...on an outline. Give me a break. He does not use the current MLA or APA format. I'm guessing he grades from the style he learned thirty years ago. I was not taught anything in this course. During class he talks about famous people he knows instead of doing his job. And he'll claim that Simon and Garfunkle (not old enough to spell correctly. nor care to find out.)stole some of his work and put it to lyrics. (fyi)Teaching seems to be more like a chore for him. If you are female, you are in better luck. Guys are only allowed to answer questions, not ask them. Lastly and most discouraging is that he memorizes Bible scriptures and Books and tries to use them in class. But, he doesn't acknowledge their interpretations and applications in life. Comments:2304 - Dr. Davis doesn't give As- he says no one is perfect, and therefore, no As. He just put checkmarks or sometimes even checkmark +/- but never an explaination... and these were on journals of my personal reflections and opinions. I made straight As until this class. Oh, and after. I would almost rather have the B than the B+... for this guy, a B+ says, "you did a good job, but I'm not giving you an A." He also says poetry is his supreme fiction. Your justification for your opinions will never be good enough- he will argue. Just avoid this professor. Take his wife, Carol's, class. She's awesome.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4369 - This guy is a hack. I've talked to others in the department and any that will say anything agree that he likes to fail students just to make himself feel smarter. He thinks he's a poet, but he's a hack. He has made students cry in class and grades harshly without giving any good reasons. He also scribbles his notes on your paper so you have to get him to read them and all they say is insults. He was openly talked about how some students' papers were crap IN CLASS. You're better off being taught by a rabid dog than by this old man. He wanders off topic constantly and expects all students to have memorized every work from every author you study and he acts like you're stupid if you haven't read as much as he has. A truly insulting and horrific professor which I hope with all my heart I never see again as long as I live.  - Grade In Class:F
