Comments:LAT 4309 - I took Dr. Hedjuk for my first upper level after Dr. White (We love Dr. White!). This was one of the hardest classes I have taken, but it was not impossible, and also, one of the most rewarding classes I have ever taken. Dr. Hedjuk is very accomplished and it is a privilege to take a class with her. She is so kind, funny, down to earth, but also, doesn't take crap and will tell you if you are wrong. She fosters a great class enviroment and you make lots of friends through shared suffing. Students say she is the hardest Latin prof, and "don't ever take her", but I think I learned the most I've ever learned in her class and again, it was so rewarding. She may be tough but she actually wants the best for you and has little projects and things along the way that are grade boosters. Take her and you will fall in love with Latin poetry!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:LAT 3308 - I AM DR. HEJDUK\'S #1 FAN IF NOT HER #1 STUDENT. this class was so fun it changed my brain chemistry forever. i love to learn!! and i love to learn from DOCTOR Julia Dyson Hejduk!!! the final exam is cumulative, which is a challenge. and you will have to do assignments to supplement translation, but i don\'t think it\'s too crazy. oh, and there\'s sight reading on the exams. mine were always kinda shoddy but that\'s on me. but Dr. Hejduk is so insightful and smart and kind. and i liked the readings and didn\'t find the workload spectacularly difficult (call me a nerd! see if i care!). take this class; you\'ll wanna be DOCTOR Julia Dyson Hejduk when you grow up!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:GTX 2301 - The class itself was awful. 50-75 pages of HARD reading each night. This class made me drop USchols and Honors altogether, but I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hejduk. She is the sweetest, kindest woman, she facilitates class discussion really well, and she sometimes provides class activities like acting out certain scenes or putting us on debate teams. Unlike other Great Texts professors, she doesn't cold call, which was awesome because I never did any of the readings, and by the end of the semester I got an A, which I didn't expect, so I assume she bumped my grade up. Long story short, don't take Great Texts, but if you have take it, take it with Dr. Hejduk.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Latin 1301, 1302 - As others have noted, Dr. Hejduk is both very sharp and very considerate. Due to the fact that I was in the honors section, Dr. Hejduk generally taught two to three weeks ahead of the regular sections. In addition to class, she was very good about keeping office hours and scheduling appointments if one had questions. Having a a quiz or a test every week kept me on my toes. While the homework does not directly count for very much of the course grade, it is crucial to keep up so you will understand the concepts on the tests. I would highly recommend Dr. Hejduk to anyone who is looking for a rigorous understanding of the language.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Dr. Hejduk is very knowledgeable, sharp, and kind, as well as good humored. Although she grades strictly, she is very fair, and provides apt opportunities to redeem lower grades at the end of the semester, as she is concerned that you learn the course matter. There is either a test or a quiz every week, so there are plenty of grades to factor into the average. Be aware that there are no make-up quizzes, although one quiz is dropped. The final was cumulative, but not terribly difficult with appropriate study allotted. As long as you work hard, you will be fine; she's reasonable and gracious, and it was an honor to take her class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Latin 1302, 2320, 4V01 - If you are thinking about going to Grad school in Classics then you should definitely take Dr. Hejduk! She will teach you things that help you be succesful later on. She assigns lots of translating though so don't take her if you can't keep up! She is challenging, but taking her classes is always a good experience I think. She is also very kind and helpful...motherly almost, yet with a Harvard degree.   - Grade In Class:A
