*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1304 - Mrs Bedwell is strict with every paper. She cares your language a lot instead of the content. Actually, I don't recommand you to choose her class unless you are really good at writting. The grades of papers she gives you are always lower than other teachers'. It's very hard to make an A. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2301 - Mrs. Bedwell is such a sweet lady. It was very apparent that she enjoyed lecturing on certain pieces of literature more than others, and she spent much more time focusing on the selections she enjoyed. She read off her notes a lot, but it didn't bother me as much as it seemed to bother other students. She grades essays and projects fairly. She definitely seemed to like students who were active in the classroom and showed interest in the subject more than those who just sat there. There was a pretty hefty amount of reading every night, but there wasn't really any way for her to know if a student read or not. Each student had to do a "reading response" once a week just to reflect over the material they read, these were graded very easily. As long as you listen in class and read a majority of the work, you should be good. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1304 - 1304- There were certainly parts of the course which I enjoyed. I didn't think the oral presentations were that bad and I liked some of the writing assignments were really helpful. I just wasn't impressed with the way she taught the class. English isn't one of those classes that a teacher can stand up there and lecture, which is exactly what she did. She lectured about the nuances of works cited (listening to an hour about a comma gets old) and actually provided little helpful work in class. I probably wouldn't recommend her. Unless you're really into commas. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1304 - Mrs. Bedwell reminds me of an elementary teacher, really nice and babys you through every step. HOWEVER do not be fooled. She grades hard. I made easy A's on all my essays in 1302 and have always considered myself a pretty decent writer, but apparently I was wrong. I never made above a C on her essays and ended up with a C in the class. She is very strict on grammar and structure, not so much content. Also, there is a ton of hw everyday! She is very very detailed, and nitpicky when it comes to grading, and even just lecturing. So, don't let the cute grandma appearance fool you. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:ENG 1304 - Mrs. Bedwell was an excellent professor, possibly my favorite of the professor. In a class that focuses on properly writing research papers, she was there every step of the way to make sure we knew what we were doing. She's extremely good about telling the class when she has to change her office hours for a week (she has young children, so this happened a few times.) In addition, she has the semester organized very well, and she's always prepared for class and doesn't waste time. If you're willing to work, this class is definitely worth taking. That being said, if you're lazy, avoid her like the plague. I had more work in this class than all my others combined...5 papers, an oral presentation, and homework almost every night. It's certainly possible to get an A (my actual average was a 95), but don't expect it to be given to you; Mrs. Bedwell will make you earn it. All in all, I recommend her, but only if you're willing to put in the time. - Grade In Class:A
