Comments:1387 - Dude this man is so awesome. He explains everything super in-depth and all you have to do outside of class is a few readings. He always tells us when the quizzes are and his tests are straightforward. It might be easy to zone out but also easy to catch back up, I recommend!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - Dr. Block is a great lecturer and is frankly quite funny sometimes. Although his lectures are pretty long and tedious, the overall course was not difficult at all. Make sure you take good notes (as he does not post the powerpoints on canvas), and have a general understanding before each quiz (taken on clickers/phones), then you'll be guaranteed an A. There is really no need to purchase the textbook as all the textbook quizzes can be found on quizlet, and the required readings are posted on canvas. His exams are 30 MCQ and a super short FRQ that he would emphasize multiple times in class. There are quite a few opportunities for extra credit as well. There is no curve on exams though beside the extra credit. Dr. Block is definitely a solid choice if you are looking for a laid back course to add to your schedule!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - TAKE his class. His class is very boring but will probably be the easiest poly sci prof. He has quizs like every week on readings. The 3 book quizs that were on quizlet. And two exams that he gave study guides for. All you have to do is study the study guides and you'll be perfect. Same goes for his final as long as you study the material on the guide you'll do great  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1387 - A baylor poli sci mainstay. Equally unaware of both his attractiveness and intellect. Incredibly genuine. ...and he does answer his email.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 4342 - Dr. Block is an excellent professor who is great at explaining and getting you to think critically about the material. If you plan on attending law school, I highly recommend this professor and any of his upper-level courses on constitutional law. They're incredibly informative and foster a deep appreciation for legal reasoning.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - This wasn’t the worst class, but there’s also probably better. Work load is basically nothing, never any homework or big assignments outside of class. In class, there are pretty lengthy lectures and you definitely need to pay attention to the notes, or at least take pictures of his slides. There are frequent readings, but they’re manageable or you can usually find summaries online to help you grasp the main ideas. He does weekly quizzes on the readings, which can be tricky but it’s honestly so easy to just use your phone during them and get an easy A (just do that). Same for his “textbook quizzes”, which you can find a quizlet for and ace. Tests aren’t the easiest, you definitely need to study for them, but he posts study guides which are very comprehensive. Most of the test content comes from readings, and the rest from in class notes. He’s pretty entertaining, and it’s easy to get through even if you aren’t a huge politics person.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1387 - I'd recommend! I've heard there are some better poly sci professors but he isn't bad! I honestly didn't spend that much time on the class besides studying a good bit before the tests. The class consisted of lectures, however, he doesn't post the powerpoints so take good notes!! There are about 9 quizzes throughout the semester that aren't super hard. The readings can be very long and honestly I never read the ones I didn't have a quiz over and would take notes over oyez summaries of the court cases when there was a quiz and got an 80 or 100 on all of the quizzes (they were 5 questions). His grades come from these in class quizzes, 3 outside of class quizzes (that are open book, open note, great grade boosters), 3 tests, participation (the lowest participation grade in my class was a 90), and I think that's it. The tests aren't super challenging, they are very straight forward and don't go into too much detail. He does however throw in true/false and questions on quotes that can be tricky. His A is a 93 but it is doable!! He gives extra credit (one point to your overall final grade for perfect attendance) which is helpful!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - This class is alright. This is a required course and Im a STEM major, so this class was very boring and dry for me. I hated coming to class everyday and just waited for it to be over, but that's just me personally because of my lack of interest for the topic. The workload was not too bad, just some dense readings here and there but the quizzes were easy most of the time. Exams were not too bad as well, usually studied an hour and a half the day before and made A's on them, and like I said I am a STEM major so I don't enjoy the class but still found it easy as long as you time manage. Pretty cool guy too, super chill. Just do your readings, don't procrastinate, and have a good memory when studying to ace the exams.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - Dr. Block is a helpful professor when I meet him during office hours. His lecture can be boring but his tests are based solely on the lecture so it's best to take notes as you'll need them to study. His tests are not ridiculously hard as long as you study the lecture notes. He also has reading quizzes regarding SCOTUS cases, etc at the beginning of class so be prepared for that.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1387 - Not a fun class and tests are so hard. I actually tried in this class and couldn't do well. Not easy. Take someone else.  - Grade In Class:D

Date: 2022-11-17

Comments:1387 - Not such a terrible class but does come with some work. There are readings you have to do before class because there might or might not be a quiz on it. The class consist of a lecture with a powerpoint that you have to hand write notes unless you have oala for a computer. He does explain things very well and goes over everything in an easy way, class passes by fast. There are 3 exams and a final. Exams are multiple choice with one free response. He gets grades in very late. He does scare you the first day and makes the class seem terrible but I promise is is not that bad.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 1387 - I loved this class! I thought the workload was average and definitely doable, just remember to be a good time manager with this class because it is reading heavy. Throughout the semester there are exams, in class quizzes, and out of class quizzes. The exams are pretty easy, the content is right from his lectures and the assigned readings. He also gives study guides for his exams which is AWESOME. Most college professors wouldn\'t do that. The in class quizzes will always be 5 questions (so 5 points each) and those are also pretty easy. He doesn\'t ask specific questions often, usually they are pretty general. The out of class textbook quizzes are definitely to help people boost their grades because it\'s almost guaranteed you\'ll get an 100 on those, they are word for word from the textbook. He explains material well and never asks students to self teach (there are no surprises on the exam). I wish he was more available though. I don\'t know if that man has ever answered a student email LOL. You have to talk to him face-to-face. Regardless, take Block! He\'s awesome! And really nice to look at.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - This class was just so boring. He did only lectures and it was brutal to sit through. The tests were not too bad and I was able to pull an A without paying attention much in the boring class. Overall really cool guy though and you can just tell how smart he is, it just isn't always the best for teaching.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - Steve block was a fine professor. He lectured everyday and there were quizzes pretty often. It is not hard to do well, it's just a boring class. He is an attractive man so it was easier to focus. He is neither good nor bad, just boring.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-04-19

Comments:PSC 4342 - Dr. Block knows the subject matter well and while some might find his lectures boring, if you are a PoliSci major or similar, you will not. This class focused on the court's role in legislating and I found it fascinating. Dr. Blcok made a point to get to know everyone in the class and was extremely open and available after class and during office hours. Do your readings and be prepared for a quiz (although he usually tells you when there will be one!) The workload is completely reasonable and manageable for a senior level course.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-03-14

Comments:PSC 1387 - Biggest tips would be to do your reading like there will be a quiz over it the next day because there most likely will. Always show up to class on time, and don't leave class early while he is still lecturing that is so disrespectful. Use Oyez to review once the semester starts to focus on court cases. His exam review sheets are super helpful but you also need to study the information in the lectures. One of the most helpful ways to study for this class is going over the review with a study group. Trying to reteach the info to someone else helps with memorization. I personally thought he was a nice professor and that the class was pretty straightforward. Also he gives a lot of extra credit so always be prepared!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - I took this class online and am very grateful I did. Block is a really good guy and he hits the nail on the head with a lot of his lectures, with this meaning he can tend to ramble about something and sometimes lose you after ranting. At least 6 or so out of 38 lectures tend to be pretty long and tedious, but overall it’s because he pre recorded them last summer. You learn a lot because the class is condensed to 3 weeks. I waited till the last minute to do all of them and started with a D and finished with an 88. As long as you look at the powerpoints and put the lectures to 1.5x speed it’s pretty easy. Also, if you do it online, all the tests, quizzes, and final is open note. He gives quite a bit of extra credit and you can basically google the answers. Definitely take this in 3 weeks instead of a semester and get a friend to take the class with you so you both can work on it together. I enjoyed it for the most part and he always had an optional zoom you could go to if you had questions for the upcoming tests.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2022-01-18

Comments:PSC 1387 - This class is give and take. There are in-class and out of class quizzes. In-class quizzes are harder because they aren't open note and sometimes they are pop quizzes. You basically can never miss class or even be a little late because of the potential of a quiz. However Block gives a bunch of extra credit and drops the two lowest quizzes. Based on the in-class quizzes I thought the tests would be hard but they are surprisingly easy if you study the provided study guides. Usually the tests are multiple choice with 1 or 2 short answer and he tells you what the short answer questions will be over. Overall Block is not a bad professor to take for this University required class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:750356,1056331 - Dr. Block is very passionate in what he does, but his lectures are extremely difficult to follow. He does not post powerpoints or any notes on canvas. I have asked him several questions after class and he always answers with a new question. Instead of just a simple yes or no, Dr. Block will go on a huge rant without ever answering the original question. However, if you do the long reading assignments and go to class you should be able to get an A in his course. I recommend saving yourself the time and signing up for a different professor.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-11-21

Comments:1387 - Easy af, boring af. Take him if you want a good grade. I never pay attention in class but ace the tests. His quizes are a pain but he gives extra credit. I would reccomend him.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-11-16

Comments:1300 - Workload was not terrible, but the lectures were LONG and BORING, so they lost my attention. This translated to lower grades on tests. I really didn't learn anything in this class and got the lowest grade I have ever gotten in it. I would have chosen sections differently if I could do it over again.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-05-14

Comments:PSC 1387 - Prof Block was a decent lecturer but I was in the very back of Waco Hall because of the seating chart and that was not the best. The weekend quizzes are fairly easy and open book and the in-class quizzes are pretty easy as well, although the reading required is unbelievably boring and sometimes long for only a five question quiz. There are a couple extra credit opportunities for the quizzes, take them because the tests are pretty hard. They assess the material pretty fairly but there are maybe 5 questions that require better understanding than he provided.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-12-20

Comments:2302 - Steve Block was not helpful at all. It could've been because I had his class in Waco hall with 300 other students and he stood up on stage for an hour and 15 minutes lecturing. We had 2 quizzes a week and on average an hour or more reading to do each week. I had COVID-19 when having to take one of his tests and did horrible. I emailed him after for feedback and asked for better study habits and he never answered. I emailed him again asking for good study tips for the next test and he never answered. I also have OALA accommodations and he never gave me my double time on quizzes for his class when I emailed him multiple times about that as well. Do not take this professor unless you love Political Science and can handle long lectures, tons of reading, and crazy hard tests and quizzes.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2020-12-16

Comments:1387 - Dr. Block's lectures have a tendency to feel repetitive and boring, but overall this isn't a terrible class. He explains the same thing in different ways for about 20 minutes before moving on to the next point, which is frustrating, but can be helpful. The workload isn't terrible. You have to read about 3-6 court cases or classics from American politics per week, and you have one in-class quiz over these per week. There's also a textbook reading with a take-home quiz every week. There are 2 tests: the first is multiple choice, the second is multiple choice and short answer, and the final is short answer. He offers a lot of extra credit and seems to grade pretty easily. Overall, it's a boring, but easy class and I did feel like I learned valuable things.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-12-09

Comments:1387 US Constitution - Take block, he offers tons of extra credit quizzes which can boost your quiz grade a bunch, might offer some small extra credit for 1 test (less than 5 points). You need to take good notes in class but if you do just study those and you will be golden on the tests. Definitely read OYEZ before class for reading quizzes. Tests are multiple-choice, might have 1 or 2 short answers but only on one test. I overall liked his lectures but I could find myself becoming bored at times because of the material. I highly highly recommend taking Block for this class, you won't regret it  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - I loved Dr. Bloch's class, and I really wasn't expecting to since its just a gen ed. The material can be kind of dry, but he's a great lecturer. You definitely have to take detailed notes because his powerpoint are just an outline, what he's saying is most important (and he doesn't post the powerpoint). That being said, if you take detailed notes and study them, you'll get an A on the exams, they were never too hard. I found the quizzes harder, at least skim the readings before or read oyez, but I usually had to read them fully and read oyez right before to get an A.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-16

Comments:PSC 2302 - Y'all, take Block. Just take him. Poly sci isn't a class anyone looks forward to, and my expectations were pretty low going in. However, Block is super fair. There are quizzes over the reading, but even just skimming before class should get you an easy 100% on them. He gives out a study guide for every test, and the tests make sense. He doesn't try and trick you. Block also has a dry sense of humor which seems to grow the longer the semester goes. He's fun to talk to after class if you had a question, etc. The only thing is that you have to pay attention in class. He is mostly an auditory lecturer, so don't expect to rely on powerpoints. If you zone or tend to skip class, you won't do well. Block's been awesome with the whole COVID situtation. He posts lectures online, and our tests have been open note because he doesn't like the idea of videoing us. If you have to take poly sci (as I think everyone does), and you're good to pay attention, you should get an easy A with Block.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-04

Comments:2302 - I took Dr. Block's class over the summer so that might change a few things. We had weekly quizzes but he would always tell us when they were coming up. They were pretty easy, just do the reading (or skimming). There were three exams, but they were easy as long as you read. Dr. Block is a professional guy, kinda stiff, but he welcomes questions. I enjoyed his lectures, especially when it was on a topic he was particularly passionate about. He could really get the class to engage and debate. I would recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-12-20

Comments:2302 - Dr. Block is a very fair professor and a nice guy. The class consists of lectures with a reading quiz about once a week over constitutional concepts or supreme court cases. If you read them, then you'll do just fine. His tests are also straightforward, no trick questions. I personally found that his lectures could sometimes drag on, but it is a required class on the constitution, so I wasn't expecting to be entertained all the time. I would recommend, as Dr. Block is fair and the class is definitely doable.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-12-16

Comments:2302 - Good prof for a Baylor requirement. His classes are usually entertaining with his dry humor, give or take a couple boring lectures. MAKE SURE to do the readings before every class or at least read summaries (oyez.com). There is usually a quiz every week and they will definitely impact your final grade because he does A- sadly.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2019-12-14

Comments:4342 - I had Dr. Block for Public Policy. This was a great class and literally almost no work for a 4000+ Level PSC Class. There were pop reading quizzes which sucked. This class was mainly discussion based on many of the famous Supreme Court Cases. We had a midterm and final and basically you had to provide the case name year facts and important legal concepts to get an A. I had taken many of this classes and he is a great professor and knows SO much about the subject, His dry sense of humor was great especially when your class is 2:30pm. It is lecture only sometimes he will write key concepts on the board, he never follows a reading calendar because we are always behind, and he puts no grades in.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-11-14

Comments:2302 - He just lectures randomly without any powerpoint presentation. If you learn well by taking notes orally without any visual powerpoint to go off, then he's fine. I'm more of a visual learner. There's about 20-30 dense pages of reading for each quiz, and HE GIVES POP QUIZZES (and announced quizzes too) at least once a week. They're only 4-5 questions each so if you miss one you're screwed.I tried taking this course in the summer with two other courses and had an A but it was very condensed. If you're taking his class during the summer I would recommend only taking one other easy class with it not two classes. What he says in class is very sporadic and it's hard to follow since he has no notes or powerpoint he goes off of. He goes on tangents a lot too which aren't important. Also, IF YOU MISS MORE THAN ONE CLASS FOR ANY REASON THAT IS NOT SCHOOL RELATED HE WILL TAKE TWO POINTS OFF YOUR FINAL GRADE FOR EACH TIME. Even if you are sick and have a doctor's note! His pop quizzes and quizzes are at the very beginning of class so don't be late. Also, very strict on phones and if you leave class early he will count you absent unless it is an emergency.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-07-30

Comments:2302+ - I have taken Dr. Block for a number of his classes, including upper levels. All you 2302 peons will never understand the true wrath of Block's 3000 level classes. Want to know what true terror looks like? Being forced to endure cocaine references and Justice Kennedy rants without tons of extra credit to pad your grade. Sure, you're fine now, you're just taking a mandatory class with a regular white dude conservative professor, (no surprises there, you go to Baylor) but what's about to occur may scar you for life: lectures without downloadable powerpoints. All your pre-med profs don't need you actually take pen to paper, so why does Dr. Block? Because the only thing he loves more than Jesus is giving students carpel tunnel. Who needs writing skills when your goal in life is for nurses to comment about your terrible handwriting on scripts anyways? Now when I was a Baylor student, I (allegedly) used my daddy's money to get ahead. It's a shame Baylor looks poorly upon students and professors drinking together, because otherwise I could've used expensive bourbon to guarantee my grades in Dr. Block's classes - instead, I had to do it the old fashioned way - complimenting his kids at office hours. Dr. Block is a coffee fiend, so I would recommend a Common Grounds gift card if studying and actually learning at University sounds worse than another semester of Chapel. Here's a quick how-to on how to pass his 2302 class: Read one case per class that actually matters, skim/read oyez for the rest, and take advantage of all of his extra credit opportunities. His lectures are decent if you aren't hungover, and he enjoys questions, so feel free to spray and pray. Tests are multiple choice if memory serves. Seriously y'all, this ain't hard. If you're taking any of his 3000+ level classes, a word of warning: if his quizzes for 2302 are a walk in the park, his 3000+ level quizzes are walk down a dark alley with three ninjas waiting to strike. Be prepared for the fight of your GPA. In summary, he's cool I guess. Would recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Great prof overall. He gives weekly quizzes and the tests are somewhat hard. Take notes and pay attention, poli sci isn't supposed to be interesting. Very apolitical and wants you to understand the question at hand rather than what side believes what.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Poly Sci - I actualy really liked Block, he was super helpful and bumped my A- into and A. I'd reccomend him  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 4342 - Dr. Block is one of my very favorite professors at Baylor. This class was my second time having him. He is super knowledgeable and his teaching style is easy to follow. He makes the content relatable and encourages students to voice their opinions. He is very funny and one of the nicest human beings ever. Professors like him are the reason I am proud to say that I go to Baylor.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-09-19

Comments:PSC 2302 - Block is one of the best professors at Baylor University. He is also very smart. The course consists of quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. The homework is reading early federalist doctrines as well as a vast amount of supreme court cases. To do well in this course, it is imperative to read the material prior to class. The quizzes are somewhat hard, but it is possible to get 80-100% on every quiz if you read the material before class. You also must take good notes from his powerpoints. Good notes in class makes it easier to do the study guide he posts before exams. His exams are relatively hard, but you can get an A if you took good notes, read every case before class, and praise Block. Block should run for President in 2024.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC2302 - Well, overall he is a decent professor but he never respond emails which is annoying.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - Dr. Block is actually a really nice professor and got more comfortable with the class as the semester continued. We only had 2 tests and a final. There were also "surprise" quizzes but he would usually hint at us the class before when they were going to be. For homework, he assigned us court cases to read. The class was not difficult and it was a pretty easy class. He also gave us a test review for each test outlining what was going to be on it. Take his class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - Dr. Block's classes can be a bit boring material-wise, but he is a really nice, interesting, and funny guy! The class is lecture based, so be prepared to take notes. Come to class -- you'll miss a lot of material if you don't, and he also adds an extra point to your overall grade if you have perfect attendance. That's the only reason that I never skipped. He has "surprise" quizzes; these quizzes are so easy. They're over court cases that I didn't actually read, I just used Oyez online. Know the year, the justice who authored the opinion, and if the issue was ruled constitutional or not and why. Simple facts I memorized the day of. His exams are a bit more challenging, but he gives out a study guide with what will be on the test. Just study off of that and you're golden! He has the quiz grades and three exams. The first is 20%, the second is 25%, and the final is 30%. The final is cumulative. He does use the minus system, so I actually got an A- with a 92. Overall, I recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Professor Block is a interesting teacher - it took me a few weeks to get a grasp on him. The class is lecture based, with lots of homework reading. Your grade consists of quizzes, two tests, and a final that is partially cumulative. He offers extra credit on quizzes, a replacement quiz, and a point added to your grade for perfect attendance (yes 1%, not 1 just a small point). His class is hard... I read 500 pages the entire semester and it is vital that you read, or you will fail quizzes and bomb tests. I made an 100 on the first exam, and a 98 on the second. Going into office hours helps, and knowing the entire review sheet. The tests are hard, but manageable. I would recommend him; all PolySci classes are hard, but this one is fair and manageable.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3311 - Dr. Block is truly one of the best professors I have ever had. Not only is he brilliant and has an amazing teaching ability, he genuinely cares about his students. I had something very serious come up this semester that had the potential to affect my class performance and grade. He was more than willing to work with me and help me so that I could succeed in his class. A bonus is that he is absolutely hilarious. No matter what class of his you're taking, take the time to go to his office hours and really get to know him outside of the classroom. He wants all of his students to succeed and will help you succeed if you make a genuine effort. Whoever said "DO NOT CHOOSE STEVE BLOCK" is just not used to having to actually read and study. Dr. Block is not an easy A, but having him as a professor is completely worth the effort.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-12-11

Comments:2302 - I don't really know why there are such polarizing opinions about this guy. I struggled in the beginning with quizzes, but reading Oyez is all you need to do to succeed on court case quizzes. Also, I don't think his exams are hard at all- just study his review sheet. Seriously, I am NOT the kind of person to make a lot of A's, but here I am. Lectures can be a little boring, but he cracks some really funny jokes at times. I would recommend taking my man Steve.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Professor Block is amazing. He has the dryest humor and keeps class entertaining and keeps everyone's attention the entire time. He's super accommodating and respects that we have stuff to do outside of class! There is a good amount of reading for cases for almost every class, but it's actually super interesting and manageable. He's super respectful of all his students opinions especially when discussing the more controversial topics! You will not regret taking Prof Block!!! He is SO knowledgeable about everything he teaches us which makes the class more fun while also making sure you actually learn everything! TAKE BLOCK!!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Dr. Block is an excellent professor. He is mainly a lecture based professor with powerpoints that have some key points on them. He assigns a lot of reading and has quizzes almost every class and sometimes pop quizzes. I loved this class because I am a political science major. However, a lot of my friends who weren't found him to be very intense and boring. His tests are HARD but he does give a study guide. He does have a lot of extra credit opportunites which were great to salvage some low quiz grades. His final cost me a A in the class. Overall great teacher, but heavy workload and hard tests. Recommended for Political Science or History majors. Pass if you are looking for an easy A  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 2302 - I took this class during Summer 2 and it was honestly a good time. It was mostly lecture based but if you paid attention you would leave the class understanding all the information and putting everything you talked about together. We had 9 quizes, very easy if you read. Tests were so easy, each took me about 20 min, all multiple choice. His study guides have the topics that are on the test. Study that and the quizlets online and you should not make below a 90 on the tests. He has extra credit opportunities that help your grade and quiz average. A lot of the people in the class finished w quiz averages over 100%. If you want an easy class that is enjoyable and interesting, take this class w Dr. Block. He knows what he's doing and if you show the slightest amount of effort, he will help you out.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I honestly just really hate the whole subject of political science. Dr. Block is an ok teacher, he does pretty well for a subject that is dry. His quizzes are fairly easy if you read but his tests are really hard. Block lectures the entire class and teaches from powerpoints which he goes through very quickly. He is not a very interesting teacher, but its probably because he is teaching a boring class. He is one of those teachers that is terrible at putting in grades. He will put all of your grades in at the end of the semester which makes it difficult to know exactly where you stand in the class. Overall, the class sucks, and Dr. Block is an average/below average teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I so do not like polisci at all. It doesn't make sense to me, which is why I got a C. The class was not bad especially for a person who is not interested in this material. It goes by pretty quickly and Prof Block is really funny.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:2302 - This class is easy, straight up. The quizzes he gives are extremely easy if you actually read them (even if you just read the summary of the court cases online). His summaries of the court cases in class are exactly what appears on the exam, and the review he gives for each test is extremely helpful if you actually do it. I only ever did the reviews and studied the day before the exams and got As on them. Bottom line, if you even put in the slightest amount of effort in this class, there is no reason why you shouldn't get a B or higher. If you don't even try to read anything, you're not going to do well in the class. It's not a lot of work! Plus, his lectures are really interesting. He's very passionate about the topic and it makes for extremely compelling lectures. He has a pretty strict attendance and technology policy, but it's not difficult to pay attention in his class. I definitely recommend taking him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I sat in Bennett Auditorium, on the left side the beginning of the semester. I got a 72 on the first test, and a zero on my first quiz. However, I still was able to pull out a A-. He gives lots of extra credit, however its important to do good on your quizzes. In the end I really got an 88 but on BearWeb it was a A-, I'm not sure if that same thing happened to other people, but that was my experience. For the quizzes and tests its really just important to know the date, justice, facts, questions, and the clauses used from the Constitution. I was having trouble because I was trying to understand every detail, when you should really just look for those things that he goes over explicitly in class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I was in Dr. Block's honors section, and there was basically no work at all. If you read before class and pay attention during the discussion there is no reason not to get an A here. He gives a lot of extra credit on quizzes, and for that reason I have a 105%. There is one moot court project at the end that took some time and effort, but on the whole this was not a difficult class. As far as his personality, Dr. Block seems like a pretty nice guy, but he definitely lets his personal political views color the discussion and seems to sort of dismiss opinions other than his own. This could be frustrating, but on the whole I would say he isn't a bad choice for this one.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - Don't take Block if you can possibly avoid him. Maybe he used to be easier, and that's why his ratings are so high, but that's certainly not the case now. He's a very nice person, but a horrible professor. I was in his advanced section, so I expected a heavier workload, but his quizzes were awful, his assignments too big, and his exams breakdown-inducing. He clearly doesn't understand that his students have other classes besides his to worry about. If you're looking for Honors credit, FIND ANOTHER WAY.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC2302 - DO NOT CHOOSE STEVE BLOCK!!!I chose him because of his high rating on bubooks but I regreted it! Do not trust the ratings he got and I have no idea how he gets such a high score. You have to get 94% to get an A in this class, usually this is because the class is too easy and the professor has to make it harder. But this is not even the case! His teaching is terrible and the quizs aren't easy at all! PSC is supoosed to be one of the hardest classes and 94% for an A? Unbelievable! His voice is monotone and he doeasn't provide ppts to download. He only shows you bullet points(which are so abbreviated) in class and does a lot of talking which makes it hard to take notes. I've asked my freinds about their PSC professors and there professor all provide ppt to download and an A in there classes are all 90%!AGAIN, DO NOT CHOOSE HIM! I hope my post will save you.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 2302 Honors - Dr. Block is the man. From his inherently goofy nature to his intense man crush on Alexander Hamilton, there is nothing to dislike about this man. He is easygoing, kind, and fair. He knows his stuff when it comes to the Constitution, and takes every opportunity to answer any questions that one may have in the class. There was a lot of reading in my class; however, it was manageable and completely relevant. We never did a reading in the class that wasn't discussed or mentioned during class time. There is a final essay at the end of the semester, but it is fairly graded and so easy to write, as it is a group project. Take Dr. Block, you will not regret it. I couldn't recommend him more.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - TAKE HIM! I would even recommend waiting a semester or two if you have to in order to take him. There are assigned readings for every other class or so but they are easy reads. Quizzes are a bit tough (but he gives extra credit questions), exams are easy to study for. In overall, good professor, enjoyable class, interesting readings, easy grade.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - Dr. Block is one of the coolest teachers at Baylor. At the beginning of the semester he was a little dry and I thought it was going to be boring but the class really ended up being interesting. What I really loved about Block was how unbiased he was. He really made debates interesting without blurting any personal opinions or controversy. His class is also very straight forward and his tests/quizzes are very easy to study for. I really would recommend Block to anyone who wants to learn a lot and get a pretty easy grade.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PCS - Block is a great professor. He is really passionate about teaching political science and really cares about his students. He makes reviews for his tests and usually gives you a heads up for quizzes. I'm glad that I took him and I would definitely recommend him.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - You will love Dr. Block, especially if you are in the class because its a Baylor requirement. He gives a "reading" quiz once a week, but they are more like did you pay attention last class and read the first page of the readings right before class. His tests are very straight forward and are easily passed if you simply pay attetnion in class and look over the test review for no more than 30 minutes to an hour. Also you will enjoy the class more if you actually participate in the discussions and speak up because then discussions can take place instead of him just standing at the front of the room talking. His smaller class is better than his huge class of 200 because he is able to learn about each of the students and therefore able to facilitate the class discussions.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - Easy A. The few quizes he has just check to see if you read. The test are so easy if you complete the reviews and study them, the test are straight form the reviews. This class is not hard  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - If I had to pick one word to describe him, it would be "adequate." Block has everything I'd want in a typical-good professor - nice guy, helpful, educational but not too hard, interesting subject, etc. He's not the most brilliant teacher I've ever seen but he's plenty good enough. I'd have no trouble recommending him. (Note that you WILL have to study for the midterm and final; you'll have to know dates and names for a lot of different Supreme Court cases. This is a matter of simple memorization, but don't put it off until the last minute. There was also a moot court assignment, which was a ton of fun but took a bit of time.)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - EASIEST. CLASS. EVER. Poli Sci can be challenging but it make it easy to get an A (and I had NO background in any sort of government courses!). There are 2 tests and a final...after each class he sends out an email telling you 2 or 3 court cases to read and if there will or may be a quiz on any of them (he will never surprise you with a quiz). Quizzes are EASY, just 5 questions to see if you understand the basics; I simply took 10 minutes to google the case facts right before class and was fine. Before each test he gives a review sheet telling you all of the court cases you have to know about (you simply have to know the justice, year, and outcome, not background). I simply memorized facts the night before the test and made a 100 on each of the tests and an A on the final! Lectures may seem a little boring and confusing but if you want little to no workload, take Mr. Block.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I thought Steve Block was a great prof. He explained the material well and got me really interested in the court cases, which is something new, since I've never really taken an interest in a subject like this before. He's a nice guy, and very approachable. Readings aren't a piece of cake, but they're not bad. Staying on top of the readings is key to doing well in this class. If you try to cram in a bunch of court case readings the night before the test, it won't work. It's so much easier to study for his tests when you already have a general idea of what each court case encompasses. Additionally, he gives quizzes after almost every reading assignment. They're pretty easy to do well on, and definitely a good grade booster. Keep up with the readings and take good notes--he explains the court cases really well during class, and paying attention to the lecture also makes it a lot easier to study for the tests. I would take this prof again.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Block's class consists of two tests, a final, and really easy quizzes. He is kind of scattered during his lectures but before the tests he gives you a review and tells you what to pay attention to in each case. He also offers extra credit throughout the course. Definantly easier than some of the other professors that teach this course.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2302 - Mr. Block is a graduate student so it seems like teaching is kind of new to him. He did know what he was talking about and it helped a lot to print out the slides and follow along. No written homework, just court case readings. Tests were from the cases/slides. He walks through what readings will be on the tests and tells you which opinions/dissents to pay attention to. Pretty easy A.   - Grade In Class:A
