Comments:2320 - Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had, I built my entire class schedule for this semester around his class . He might take a little while to get used to because he's not very structured or strict, but his teaching style is very flexible and dynamic which works really well for a language class. He'll speed up or slow down the curriculum as needed to fit how the class is doing and if you don't understand something he'll make sure everyone is on the same page before we move on. Sometimes he'll ask a lot of you, but if it's honestly too much, he'll be realistic and adjust accordingly. Homework is generally very easy, often just half of a worksheet or a short reading in the book to discuss at the next class. Online workbook sets are due about once a month and are not that time-consuming. He gives a quiz just about every day, but if the whole class bombs it he won't even count it as a grade - it's more of a status check to see if he needs to spend more time on a certain lesson. He'll grade you based on effort for things like class participation and Canvas videos, so as long as you're trying and you care about the class, you'll do great. The tests are not overly difficult and he's very clear about what you'll be held accountable for on each exam.
If you need a professor who is very structured and teaches without any deviation, he's not the one you should take. But if you actually want to get more comfortable speaking French, learn about the culture, and have a fun time in a class with lots of discussions, go for it! I wish all professors cared as much as he does about his students. - Grade In Class:A |

Comments:1401 - This class was a lot of fun, it was something to look forward to everyday. It's really laid back and he likes to joke around and have a good time, yet still teaches. Also, he likes to get to know all of his students a little. And he is actually French, so he knows his stuff. Watch out for some of the test, they can get kind of difficult, especially towards the end. The workload is pretty easy, you just do test corrections and the workbook. Though the workbook can be kind of annoying, because some chapters will have about 30 pages, and you've only got 4 days to do it, but if you skip a couple of the exercises in the middle he doesn't seem to notice. I would definitely suggest taking him, the class isn't too hard and it's actually kind of enjoyable. - Grade In Class:A |
