Comments:CLA 3306 - Dr. Jones is so great. He is such a great storyteller that it makes the class fly by. The lecture never feels long, and he knows the subject so well that he can always make it into a story with funny quips to add a nice break in the history lecture.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3306 - Dr. Jones is a wonderful lecturer and has a gift for breaking down the texts you read for class. I had him in Hellenistic History before, and now in the Roman Empire, and he is very knowledgeable in both subjects. Great teacher. The only concern for any new student is that there are usually only three grades, which are three exams that are all essay-based; however, he provides you with the terms and questions beforehand, so it's not too difficult. Great Prof.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:LAT 2320 - This man is a KING. favorite professor here by far. Didn't have to take this class but I did cause Jones was teaching it. He's an easy A and he has a lot of fun in class. He teases students in a funny way and the students tease him back. He is all about having fun in class  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Dr. Jones is THE BEST prof this university has and it's not close. This was my third semester with him and it was a joy. He is the funniest guy on earth and makes Latin so fun to learn. This was a class I loved going to because it was so stress-free and laid back. There would be 10 possible points a week for participation (150 total), and as long as you showed up at least 2ish times a week you'd get full credit. We had a few quizzes which were super easy, and 2 exams. He would always give you a review sheet and a review day the class before. He primarily uses groupme as his form of communication and he'd often throw in some song recommendations (he's metal head). He makes learning fun, even for something as dull as Latin. As long as he is teaching a class at Baylor I will be in his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:LAT 1306 - Dr. Jones was a great latin professor. He made the class pretty easy. he gives you 100pts for participation. To put in in perspective an exam is 100pts. We had 2 exams, the final exam, and weekly quizzes . His exams were super easy. Latin is very memorization driven. As long as you make a quizlet you should be good. We had homework for each day that was usually translating the odd numbered sentences from the textbook. If you google the chapter sentence you can find it translated. The final was about 34% of my grade but the final wasn't that hard. Ended with an A-  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399 - Dr. Jones is an absolutely AMAZING man. He's funny, and I was never bored in his class. He's a little disorganized, and while he lectures he will sorta randomly write words on the board. That's okay because you don't have to take notes or anything to succeed. There are no tests or quizzes, you'll write 4 essays over 4 books (you get lots of freedom on the essays). He will not give you anything below a B as long as you write the full paper (2/3 pages) and you sound like you've at least read the sparknotes. He is willing to give extensions as long as you text him (he doesn't use email and instead uses groupme for communication) ahead of time. Dr. Jones is a super understanding guy and he wants you to succeed - he even asks opinions on things you think should be changed/altered in the class after the semester, because he's interested in improving the quality of the class. Absolutely take Jones if you can, it'll be your favorite class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399 HNR - He's amazing. Super understanding and the workload is also very manageable. The entire grade: 4 essays + participation. Class was insightful and fun with him, he's a lively teacher who's chill. If you're an honors student looking for a seminar class, THIS IS THE ONE. I know it's history, but I took this class as a pre-med, and it was honestly one of my favorite classes (because it added no extra stress to my life and was one of my easiest).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399.N6 - Dr. Jones is a great man, great sense of humor and really approachable. He's incredibly understanding, and eager to discuss each matter with the class. It's good to do the readings for the class for the sake of class discussions but there aren't any quizzes or tests (just 5 3-page essays over the course of the semesters), so I skimmed the ones I didn't choose to write essays on. He writes a lot on the chalkboard for people who do take notes (I didn't) but you're never graded for the information he writes (it's more just for context and so you learn something). He's witty and relatable. He genuinely wants what's best for every student in the class and tries to foster friendship and learning in the class. I still talk to Dr. Jones and everyone in my FYS class. He's not the best at responding to emails (it's not his preferred type of communication) but just come early to or stay after class and you can talk to him. Take this FYS !!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:LAT 2310 - I loved Dr. Jones, to date he is my favorite professor here at Baylor. He is very laid back, absolutely hilarious, and very easy to talk to (not always so easy to get a hold of though). Homework was about average for an intermediate Latin course, just a set number of lines to translate which he may or may not call on you to read off a few of in class, and if you get some wrong (or completely off as I did on a few occasions) don't worry he wont ridicule you or anything, he just reads off the correct translation straight from his copy of whatever Classical work you happen to be going through. I highly recommend Dr. Jones, you should absolutely take him if you can!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4V01 - Dr. Jones is excellent, and I wish there were more professors like him running around our campus. I took the Topics in Mythology seminar class with him, and it was great. Some days we got pizza while we discussed mythology from around the world, not just the tired Greek ones. The class was intellectually stimulating and I made some good friends in the class too. If you see the 4V01 pop up with his name on it, you've got to sign up for it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3387- Classical Myth - Repost (because I am embarrassed by previous misspellings) Great sense of humor, lenient, easy to talk to (though not the easiest to get a hold of), great instructor/teacher Take him! I had 3 tests and either 1 or 2 papers. He gives you a good study guide for the tests. Test= 50% terms (he gives you a list of terms to know before the test), 50% essay- he gives you as many as 5 possible topics before the test and as few as 2 of those will show up on the test and from those you will choose 1 essay question to respond to, so you at MOST you will need to prepare responses to 4 of the topics he gives you before the test And if you can't remember one of the terms he gives you then Google it or if you feel have blanked on an entire story you read (or got it mixed up with another one), you can also read through a summary of the stories through schmoop or possibly in your graves book. Also, the essay questions should be easy because he covers them in his lectures. The class is interesting, and Dr. Jones makes it entertaining and not overly difficult. You will learn a lot of things you should know for intelligent conversation and in order to understand common allusions in other books. If you do poorly in this class either: 1. English is not your first language 2. You are a terrible slacker and deserve it. 3. You really don't belong in college at all 4. You have had some terrible crisis like your dad died (but for the record, Dr. Jones is very understanding and accommodating in this kind of a situation, so I doubt this would actually damage your grade)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Roman History - Dr. Jones is very witty and extremely clear during lectures. There is no way you can lose focus during class. Dr. Jones is one of those very intelligent people that knows he's intelligent, but is till human and open to self depreciating humor. AS a student you can tell he deeply loves the subject he is teachings and loves it when students take the same interest. All of the grades are all based upon your writing ability. The midterm and final are both essays and the only paper you do outside of class is reasonable, because he gives you all the sources.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:HIS 4340 - I've had Dr. Jones for 4 classes, so I can confidently say that he is one of the best teachers at Baylor. His lectures are well organized, the reading is very manageable, and he presents all the material in an analytical light. He's very dry and witty, and makes lots of funny references and comparisons; many times in his Classical Myth and different History courses I'd be struggling to breathe while writing the notes! I highly encourage students to take him for ANY course. You'll learn a lot, and have tons of fun along the way.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3380 - I hate his "teaching style". He doesn't use notes, power points, anything. He writes words/names on the board randomly as he rambles and often gets on uncomfortable tangents like alcohol. My whole class just stares in confusion. I did well in his class because i studied my butt off but didn't use his notes, i used Wikipedia and did well. You have to know the basics about every person he mentions in his study guides (which he gives you a week before the test and SHOULD give you a month before it). I found Greek Myth interesting but couldn't stand Jones. He has office hours but says he's never there so if you want to see him you have to make an appt and i've made appts and gone and he hasn't been there. He's very scattered and clearly tenured. I wouldn't take him for anything again. ALSO, if you're still reading this, i never did any of the readings past the first two weeks and still got A's on the tests. Reading is a waste of time because he doesn't talk about it anyway.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3350 - Professor Jones is the funniest teacher I've ever had at Baylor. His lectures are interesting and he tries to keep each one lighthearted. He's really anecdotal with really random and hilarious stories. He's not a very difficult grader so as long as you pay attention in class and attempt to read the material (there's quite a bit) you can easily make an A. His class is really enjoyable if you appreciate professors with sarcasm.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:HIS 4322 - This course was really cool. Jones has a great style of teaching. He forces you to keep up, which is sometimes very difficult, but he ties everything together. He provides good guides for tests, so you know what to expect. He is very helpful and he really puts time into reading the class essays. The tests were essay style, but really all you have to show is that you were awake/paying attention during class. He repeats broad themes. As always, if you work hard, you do well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Classical Mythology - Without a doubt, one of the best professors at Baylor! His lectures are engaging, and his assignments, while long, are very manageable. Does everything he can to help you do well on exams, including shortening them, if he decides them to be too long.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Greek Mythology - It's not a terrible class, it pretty interesting and certain parts are enjoyable. He is nice, a little sarcastic, but in a funny way and he provides all study guides for the exams. You needs to look up everything you need to study but at least you know what to expect. He gives pretty good lectures, at least I enjoy them and it does help you understand what you are reading because without the lectures just reading makes it hard to understand. It's hard at first, but after 2-3 weeks you kind of get in the groove of things. Overall I would recommend the class, but you better take a lot of notes and read what he tells you or you wont make it. A lot of Reading required.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:3330 - This class is terrible! sooo much reading, and his lectures are long and boring. He writes random names on the chalk board and you have to catch what he says. He does provide the exam study sheets but even then you have to do the reading to do well. DON'T TAKE,  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:3301 - AMAZING PROFESSOR! Jones has one of the best personalities ever. He has the best sense of humor and makes learning so much fun. There is a fair amount of reading, but it's short passages. Take him for whatever you can!!! He's in History and Classics. Top notch man!  - Grade In Class:B+
