Comments:ACC 4308 (Managerial) - Managerial - Burney is one of a kind. She has a wicked east TN accent and shoots you straight. She has a very different perspective given her managerial accounting credentials and work experiences and definitely favors industry as an alternative to students going into public. Has a ton of neat stories when she gets off-topic. She has taught this stuff forever and knows her material very very well and just wants to help students understand accounting and business function more generally with her class.
As for the structure, class time is not spent lecturing via slides but is entirely spent on practical workout problems similar to what you’ll do on a test. There are some conceptual MC on tests, but you never have to do reading for them if you just pay attention all class. She covers a lot of chapters and goes pretty quick with them, but the workload is not bad at all. There are McGraw Hill Connect chapter problems due every week, but they don’t take long and are good practice. There are also usually 1-2 smallish Excel projects a month she throws in that are easy points too.
Tests are mostly workout problems in very small subsections for each topic with lots of partial credit, so they’re not bad if you practice enough that you can do them from scratch. All in all, very nice lady who just cares a ton about her students and her subject.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:recovery class - I understand how tough it can be to lose money or access to important accounts. That's why I'm happy to share about a reliable hacking expert I've worked with. She's efficient and trustworthy, and I'm truly satisfied with her help.I found her email on Medium and Reddit:Recoveryfundprovider,@,gmail. com. She's a kind person who's assisted me several times. Once, she even recovered stolen funds from my budget and Binance TR accounts. Her services are top quality, and I'm so grateful I reached out to her in 2025. If you're dealing with lost cryptocurrencies or Bitcoin accounts, she can help retrieve them. She also handles deleted or old texts, call logs, emails, and photos. Need to access your spouse's social media? She covers Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Messenger chats, Snapchat, Reddit, and Telegram. She provides a wide range of legit hacking services. This post is my way of thanking her for great work. If you see this, feel SAY HELLO.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 4308 - To preface, so long as your managerial accounting options are Burney, Farish, and Stuebs, Burney is hands down your best option. The reading and homework for this class are average, nothing too heavy but the workload isn't non-existent. As previous comments have stated, Burney doesn't have a PowerPoint she flips through during class, class time is spent almost entirely on workout problems which is beneficial since they make up about 75-80% of her tests. The remaining part of her tests is multiple choice which is much easier if you do the assigned reading. She also has some Excel projects for you to do throughout the semester, none of which are bad, the budgeting project will definitely take some time but she's very receptive in office hours on what to do. I think what I like most about Dr. Burney is her perspective on the accounting profession. Obviously she has a preference for industry but she pulls no punches about the downsides of public accounting which I think is a much-needed slap in the face for our accounting students since up until now public accounting is pushed so hard. Overall, take Burney not just because she's a good professor but she'll also expand your perspective on future career options.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 4308 - I have very mixed feelings about this professor. To start off her lectures mainly consist of workout problems that we go over together in class. She provides no handouts/notes in class. With that being said she is a very good lecturer. She has a great ability to breakdown complex problems into understandable material in an engaging way. The caveat to this is that she is so unavailable apart from her office hours. I don't know if she just had beef with me or something, but I've sent her around 5-6 emails throughout the semester and she never once responded to them. Also she's one of those professors that locks your canvas grade so you never really know exactly what your grade looks like unless you calculate it yourself. Another thing to mention is that she can get extremely political in her lectures, even misinforming her students about certain issues. She also hates public accounting (which I understand), but she would be overly critical about it and consistently talked down about Big4 accounting and basically anything else other than managerial accounting. Also I don't know where her obsession with lean accounting came from but when you get to that topic in lectures it's an absolute bore. Overall, an average class, if you put the work into it, it's a pretty doable A. I pushed this class off to the side and would only study for the exams the night before and averaged mid to high B's on the exams. Her exams are mainly free response with a few multiple choice problems. The good thing about her free response questions is that they are literally carbon copies of the examples you go through in class so you just have to rework those to study. Not a bad choice for this course but I would maybe check out the other professor if you don't like what you just read.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:5308 - I think everyone got an A. Class isn't that interesting imo unless you are interested in compensation incentives, the balanced scorecard, or lean, etc. Sometimes there was 30+ pages of reading due before a class, but as long as you show up to class and speak occasionally you'll be fine  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4308 - I think that the below ratings, or any of the poor ratings are very unfair for the following reasons: 1.) Dr. Burney is a fantastic and engaging professor, and she teaches accounting like the back of her hand. 2.) She wants students to succeed, as long as you show her that you want to succeed. 3.) The class is 4 tests, 60% percent total; 20% final; 20 percent homework, whereas your final grade for homework is curved to make up for online homework electronic error. 4.) She awards an incredible amount of partial work on tests. That being said, take her. She is a great option  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - Was worried going into this class because of poor reviews and the fact that she usually teaches upper level accounting courses. I took her for managerial accounting and was very pleasantly surprised. There is no way around the fact that accounting is a hard subject and will have a large workload. Dr. Burney's teaching style is very lecture-based and doesn't provide note guides. However, she is extremely helpful when you ask questions and are following along. Make sure you take good notes and do every example she does in class. The four tests are basically all written problems with 10-12 multiple choice questions. This may sound bad but it really is not. The written portion is almost identical to the problems she does in class and she never threw anything at us that we hadn't seen before. She also gives A TON of partial credit. She also drops a decent amount of homework at the end of the semester. I felt that she prepared us extremely well for the final because she is an upper level teacher and is extremely knowledgeable. Take her for sure.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Adv Managerial - In my personal opinion, these ratings below me are unfair. I came to the first day expecting a rough class, but Dr. Burney turned out to be one of my favorite professors. She's a very kind soul, a fine helper willing to answer questions, and I thought a very fair grader (I even did poorly on a couple tests and I feel this way). The class is a challenge for sure, but the workload wasn't outrageous. I'd highly recommend her.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Advanced Managerial - This is not a fun class. It's mainly a repeat of the intro to managerial class, but with a huge workload. Burney grades inconsistently. She grades the tests leniently (lots of partial credit for showing work), but grades the excel projects brutally (because of "formatting"). She can be nicer in office hours (if she's not busy). She's also relatively responsive to feedback if you give it in nice way. For example, a friend of mine complained to her that she was not posting the homework far enough in advanced of its due date. After that she actually posted stuff earlier. If you're taking this, you're an accounting major and you have to take it. You're options are probably Robinson and Burney. Burney is probably the better option, but it won't be very fun.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4308 - Advanced Managerial - Dr. Burney's class was brutal. The content itself isn't too bad since it is in large part an extension of the intro managerial class, but she makes you work for it. She only responds to about 1/4 emails I send her, and when she does respond, only about 1/3 of time will she actually answer the question asked, usually she just responds with some sarcastic answer, or something that is not helpful at all. Her grading is extremely sporadic...the tests are graded pretty lightly which is nice, but she seems to arbitrarily take off points on the excel projects. Those 3 or 4 excel projects were randomly sprung on us, and they made the workload brutal because she continued to assign homework and other assignments during the times we were supposed to be working on excel projects. I don't know much about Robinson's 4308 class, but I would recommend not taking Dr. Burney.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2304 - Burney was great, she did a great job explaining the material. Homework is daily but is only 1 or two problems and is worth very little of the overall grade. She gives a lot of leniency on the tests for showing your work. She may not give extra credit but she drops your 5 lowest homework grades, added a free 100 for a quiz grade, and replaced our lowest test with the grade from the final.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2304 - Dr. Burney is a really nice woman and she really loves accounting. She was always willing to answer any of my homework questions during office hours. However I am not sure he teaching style is the most effective for a class that requires a significant amount of working out problems. During a typical day she would usually lecture for a little while and then would work out examples on the board. We hardly ever worked out problems for ourselves during class time and I think that personally would have been beneficial. Homework is due almost every class period. She drops the 5 lowest homework scores. Her tests were manageable, 10 to 20 multiple choice and several work out problems. She gave a lot of grace on the work out problems which really saved me in this class. The final is departmental and cumulative. If you are capable of learning accounting on your own then this class may be for you, but otherwise I would suggest someone else with a different teaching style.   - Grade In Class:C

Comments:ACC 2304 - Dr. Burney is a tough teacher. She gives no reviews because "we've been reviewing all semester" so the tests are very difficult. We didn't get corrections on our homework to see what we did wrong. She had no intention of giving us a review for the cumulative final but thankfully one of the students asked if she could get us a review from one of the other professors and she obliged. The homework is worth very little of your overall grade.. but she does drop 5. This includes quizzes (which she gives randomly so you don't know when and you're out of of luck if you missed that class day). Her tests are about 15 multiple choice and 10 or so problems you work out. No extra credit, no SI (for us), no notes or assignment answers or anything of that nature on Blackboard). Take someone else.   - Grade In Class:C
