Comments:1387 - Dr. Bridge is awesome!! He is definitely a professor I will remember for years to come. Like many poli-sci/history classes it is pretty easy to do well once you figure out what they are looking for in assignments. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the information and you can tell he really wants you to understand it. He definitely puts in effort to be personable with students despite having 200+ people in the class, sending a personalized mid-semester update and replying to emails quickly and thoughtfully. You do have to put some work in taking notes and studying before tests, but I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Bridge for PSC 1387!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 1387 - His lower ratings don't represent his teaching ability; he explained that at the beginning of the semester. He had some lower reviews because of online classes during COVID. I highly recommend taking his class because he cares about his students and does an excellent job teaching. He is genuinely passionate about the subject, and his humor makes me focus. I would recommend taking him.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:PSC1387 - Take him!!! The lectures are easy to pay attention to bc he teaches everything like a story, and doesnt go in depth like other psc professors. I only listen during class and take notes and still have gotten an A on every exam without studying. We have quizzes every week from the reading but you really dont have to read bc we cover those topics during class and we have rce's which take like a minute to write a response. There is so much extra credit and he curves every exam a lot too. He also drops quizzes and rce's so combined with the extra credit it should be hard to get below a B. He is kind of funny but one time he got mad at the class for asking questions but other than that hes a little quirky but Its funny.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - PLEASE TAKE HIM!!!! Dr. Bridge is the reason I fell in love in political science again. He is super passionate about what he teaches and the workload is super easy. No essays, 2 quizzes and a civic engagement assignment a week. Only downside is that he does have 5 tests and a final, but they are fairly easy to study for. He also drops a test and several assignments. Seriously the best class I have taken at Baylor so far.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - PSC 1387-Take Dave Bridge!! He makes this class so interesting and captivating. I rarely pay attention in other classes, but I always pay attention to his lectures because he truly makes them interesting. The course load in this class isn't very difficult. He has 2 quizzez a week which are very easy if you do the readings, and also has 2 other assignments per week, one of them being extra credit. His tests are also pretty easy if you pay attention to the lectures.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1327 - TAKE THIS CLASS!! I love Dr. Bridge! He is hilarious and ridiculously passionate about polysci and constitutional law. I looked forward to his class every week. Great lecturer and genuinely cares about his students. Fair grader. Reading every week which was a lot but the quizzes were in Canvas and open note so you could just search through the text. He barely tested on the readings anyway. Tests are not bad as long as you go to class and pay attention. The final was tough and I got a C+ but still got an A in the class. No papers.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3301 - Just had Dr. Bridge for the minimester. It’s a lot of work, but that is to be expected in the minimester. Even then, it really wasn’t that bad at all. He was so helpful and truly made sure that I was successful. Any incorrect answers I had on homework’s he thoroughly explained and made sure I understood. This class used a program stata that pretty intimidating at first, but he had multiple videos walking you through each step. He is a great guy, and I definitely would take him again!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1 - Hilarious and captivating speaker. I would go to his lectures for another year if I could. I'm not even a poly sci major but I loved this guy and his teaching style. I took zero notes and got 100's on all tests. My final grade was 94. (final kicked ass)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - Loved this class. He is a great professor, you learn a lot and it's easy to get an A if you put in an average amount of work. I enjoyed listening to his lectures because they actually aren't boring but pretty interesting. I genuinely don't know why his rating is so low because if you show up to class then you'll do good in the class. Plus he drops so many grades, it's hard to get a bad grade if you try.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - I LOVE PROFESSOR BRIDGE. Lectures are interesting and engaging, tests are easy, and the world is beyond easy. 100% recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - GREAT PROFESSOR! I enjoyed his class a ton! He is so funny and engaging. His exams are open note, and he sets you up to succeed!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - I saw a lot of bad reviews for Dr. Bridge, but he is a really good professor. Almost no homework, the exams are easy if you take good notes (and he always posts the lectures), and he is very passionate about the content. I highly recommend him if you're looking for an easy polisci class  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC-1387 - Best professor I have ever had at Baylor! His exams are easy if you take good notes in class. He was super engaging and made the class so much fun. Best class ever!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - Amazing, amazing teacher. I cannot tell you how much I recommend him. Attendance is not mandatory, the lectures are posted online, lowest scored exams are dropped, extra credit is regularly given, I could actually keep going. He is so hilarious too. The reading can be a little much sometimes, but it pays off. Just pay attention to lectures and I promise you will get an A. Amazing professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - I LOVE THIS MAN. He is hilarious and incredibly well informed on every topic he discusses, which he does unbiasedly I might add. The work load is fine, two online open note unlimited time quizzes per week and a writing exercise each week too. TONS of extra credit and he doesn’t take attendance. Tests are heavy lecture based so pay attention in class or watch his lectures he uploads. Definitely one of my favorite professors.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - This is honestly the easiest class I have taken at baylor. Dr. Bridge is the best professor for this gen ed. I do not know why he has such a low rating. To start he has 5 exams, which he will drop the lowest. They are very simple multiple choice and he even tells the class that 90% is lecture based and 10% is book based. I never even bought the book and did well on every test. He gives and insane 10% curve for every test, so by the end of the semester, I had well over a 100 in the class. His weekly homework is a bit annoying, but once you get the hang of it, it will only take you about 30 min a week. He has 2 weekly quizzes that are open book and have unlimited time. He also has 1 Civic engagement question every week that is very easy to complete. He gives out an extra credit question every week. All of his lectures are posted so you can watch them to study before the exams. There is no reason why anyone should fail this class. He is a must take!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-11-18

Comments:PSC 1387 - I LOVE THIS GUY! As a business major this was originally just a way to knock out credits, but this dude is hilarious and informative. This class was breezy. I have taken three exams so far, and I got a 98, 100, and 100. I have taken zero notes and done no studying. All I do is give 100% attention in lectures. Did I mention he does not take attendance?  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-11-16

Comments:PSC 1387 - DONT. I had Bridge for two classes, U.S. Constitution, and Campaigns and elections. Campaigns was my first class I had with him and I got a C, USCon I got an A, it is possible but it is IMPOSSIBLE unless you write down his every word which cannot be done without either having recordings of his class or voice memoing it yourself. His workload is not huge but his exams are ridiculous. He has TA's for a 60 people class and good luck ever getting a chance to talk to him and if you do, good luck getting him to listen to you. Again, it is not impossible, just go into it prepared to learn and remember every word that comes out of his mouth, even jokes, it will be LOTS of effort. That being said, he loves what he's teaching, he is ridiculously smart, and he stays our of choosing political sides.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-04-14

Comments:1387 - Actually got an A-... this class was super rough from the start. I was surprised on how difficult this class was. My classmates and I were left confused on how to prepare for the 6 25 question in 25 minute quizzes and our 50 minute 50 question final (which I thought was against University rules). Other than that, Bridge was very knowledgable about this subject, and I appreciated the fact that he was very neutral when talking about politics, it didn't distract from the class.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-12-17

Comments:PSC 1387 - As a political science major just trying to get pre-requisite credit, this class was unnecessarily difficult. The only grades that counted were 6 question quizzes over a 1 hr+ lecture and 50 question, 50-minute tests. I took this class thinking it would be easy, but it was the opposite; I got no assistance when I had issues with technology (that was out of my hands) and was rudely emailed back when I had questions. The tests were filled with extremely specific questions on the 10+ readings per module and immense amount of lectures. I found the lectures to not be helpful in my understanding of the material, hence why my grade is so low for this course because your entire grade is based on tests when no application of the knowledge has occurred. Dr. Bridge is not a nice professor nor does he care for his students, especially ones in an online course. I would not recommend this class or him to anyone.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-12-13

Comments:1387 - DO NOT TAKE. I took the asynchronous online course... Notes were never posted on canvas, had to screenshot from recordings and paste on to a document which was time consuming and made it more difficult. Exams/quizzes were open note/open book, but there were at least 40% of questions that were not in the notes FROM LECTURE. 4-5 quizzes a week. There were also hundreds of documents about cases in the US that we were to read each for each quiz and exam. Specifics were always asked about the cases and obviously, no one has time to devote that much to a FRESHMAN PRE-REQUISITE. This should have been a straight-forward, constructive course but it was my FIRST C ever in my education and mind you, I am in one of the most rigourous pre-med tracks you can be in. It's disturbing that this type of teaching is okay in such a entry-level course and when I had ALL the notes in one huge document and still didn't know 30-40% of the information needed. The professors for this class normally hand out test reviews and do a test review lecture but failed to do so for our online class. Failure of a class online or offline.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2021-12-12

Comments:PSY 1387 - I took this class thinking it would be easy, as a stem major i really don't want to go into law or anything and as a required pre-req, you'd expect this to a straight-forward and enjoyable class but there were 6 exams and a final and so many quizzes. The exams were ridiculous and you had 50 minutes to do 50 questions and they questions were all trick questions. He also never released study guides for this online course but he had released study guides for his classes in semesters before so I had to contact people from his past classes to get resources like that. He never posted his notes online so i had to screenshot every one of his slides from a video and paste it into a word document which was time consuming in itself. He was very fast at responding to emails so that was nice and lectures were entertaining and interesting but i wish his assesments (the only thing that truly counts) were aligned. He also has all of these files and historical documents that are tedious and long and make no sense that he assesses you on.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-12-11

Comments:1387 - Professor Bridge is one of the best Professors I have ever had! He has a deep care for his students that went beyond other professors. He teaches the material in a way that makes it entertaining and learnable. The exams were pretty easy as long as you studied. It was all multiple choice with a couple of matching questions. He was very non-partisan, so much so I could not tell what party he affiliated with. He was quirky and funny and loves Taylor Swift. Even if you do not like political science he makes it entertaining. The workload looked like it was going to be a lot, but in reality it only took an hour each week. There was quite a bit of reading, but nothing more than other classes. If you have an opportunity to take a class from him you definitely should! That would be a decision you do not regret.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - one of the most interesting professors ive had at baylor. i had a lecture style class with 100-200 people so grading was likely easier than his smaller classes  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-10-23

Comments:3340 - Dr. Bridge is a bad professor. He is a great administrator/researcher but hands down the worst poli sci professor I have taken. His powerpoints, tests, and essays suck. His lectures can be funny in a cringe way if you don't mind him whining about Trump. I learned a handful of good stuff from him but not worth the suffering/passive aggressiveness/threats/patronizing attitude. Please do not take him if you want an A.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-05-11

Comments:PSC 1387 - I personally really liked Dr. Bridge and thought that his lectures were extremely captivating. I understand how many people can find him cocky or arrogant but I don't think that too badly hampers his ability to teach. I do agree with everyone that the workload for his class is a little over the top for a freshman level course as readings could easily span over 50 pages a week and sometimes they had relatively little to do with the lectures. This gets frustrating because the exams are based 90% off of the lectures and so it's pretty easy to not want to do the readings at all, especially when the quizzes over reading only count for 15% of your final grade. I didn't think the exams were too hard because they're open note and there will be a good amount of really easy questions. Each exam was on Canvas and consisted of 60 questions that had to be completed in 50 minutes, meaning you couldn't spend too look referring to your notes or else you won't finish the exam. Overall, if your course load is easier and you have time for a more reading intensive course then I would recommend Bridge. However, if you're a harder major or simply already taking a few time consuming courses then I would suggest a different professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-05-09

Comments:1387 - Dr. Bridge is an entertaining lecturer, but is also very cocky, rude, and egotistical. His quizzes were derived from the extensive readings we had to do each night, and were worded in a way and were so specific that it was difficult to determine the correct answer, even though I did all of the readings. The required textbook was written by Bridge himself (shocker), and seeing how it was online and cost almost $90, I\'m sure he pockets a pretty large amount from each class. The textbook was used on maybe five 5-point take-home quizzes throughout the semester, and other than that was completely irrelevant to the class as a whole. Basically a waste of money. The tests were based mostly on lectures, but a small amount of the questions were from the court cases and sections of the Constitution we were instructed to read at home.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-04-25

Comments:US Constitution - Bridge seems like a nice person but he had sent me multiple emails after our first test (and later tests) saying that I had given up on school after having a COVID issue right at the beginning of the semester. He did not seem genuinely concerned about me or my grade, but more just about telling a student that they're doing bad. He didn't even seem to consider that the format of his test was unusual and a student might have to adjust. He also seemed to insinuate that I was not showing up to class or doing the assignments and that why my grade wasn't up to his standard.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2021-04-25

Comments:PSC 1387 - Dude below hit the nail on the head. I took this class in the Fall of 2020 and it was probably the hardest/strangest class I've taken so far. Quizzes and exams contain radically different material: it's almost like two classes in one. Dr. Bridge quizzes you on the most intricate details from the biweekly 40 page long readings (eTextbook, so like 80 lol), making it insanely hard to score perfectly, even if you took your time and read with perfect comprehension. One afternoon he assigned us a reading of the entire Trump v. Hawaii case (plus the concurring and dissenting opinions of each judge). The PDF was 100 pages long, and the guy quizzed us on specifics: what did sotomayor have to say about blah blah on this specific provision of Trump's immigration blah blah blah... dude.. i have entire exams to study for.. papers to write. And the worst part is that (if youve already forgotten) none of these readings have anything to do with exam material. Dont take him: even if you're a super determined student and you actually complete the readings, you will not succeed.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-04-21

Comments:Poly Sci - This class is a joke and this professor is awful. If you are a poli sci major, then this class MIGHT be for you, but other than that, it's not worth it. As of right now, I am a pre-med student but yet somehow this is my lowest grade... IT'S A LOWER THAN EVEN MY GENETICS GRADE WITH PROF MILES(the hardest genetics professor at Baylor and about half of the class from the beginning of this semester has dropped)!!! This class asks way too much for what the class is, and for me, it's just a stupid prerequisite that is only in the process of hurting my future. I’m having to now study more for this class than my science classes, which in turn is making the workload from the science classes extremely stressful. The reading quizzes, that are required to be done before every class, are terrible. This professor tries to trick you on every detail possible or will ask questions that seem like they can have multiple answers, these quizzes are over many pages of boring readings. I love reading, but these readings are the most boring passages of all time. You’re also required to buy the book, which was made by the professors at Baylor which is an ebook that costs $80, and oh, by the way, nothing you read from the textbook will be on any exam, making it practically useless and is only a way for these professors to make some quick cash. The exams are based solely on lectures, which are the most boring things you will have to deal with in your whole life. He speaks extremely slowly and in an awful monotone the whole time. But, if you love taking exams, then this is the class for you! In this class, you get to take 6 exams and then a final, which is 2 days after your 6th exam :)) I wish I was able to publish the syllabus to prove it to you guys. The exams might be open notes, but there are 60 questions and you have a total of 50 minutes! The worst part is that you can not go back to a previous question you have marked. So technically you have 50 seconds per question, good luck to the people that get anxious from exams. I was in the middle of studying for exam 5 when I realized how pointless and stupid this class truly is. I wish I didn't take this course at all. The only thing this course has done for me is, make me grateful for not being a poli sci major and it made every other class more interesting, yes, even genetics. The only thing I regret is paying for this class. I want a refund lmao, but this is just the opinion of a student who is not a poli sci major. I'm sure you will be able to find a couple of students than truly enjoy this class, but I definitely did not.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-04-13

Comments:- - Do not take him at all costs. There are other professors. Assigns too much for basic courses. Good lecturer, but horrible tests and quizzes. Even if you do all of the reading and pay attention to lecture, whether you do well or not is up in the air. He seems nice and understanding at first, but is not. His lectures are entertaining, but not at the cost of your GPA.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-04-06

Comments:3340 - Campaigns and elections. Dr. Bridge was phenomenal. He was fun, sarcastic, and witty. He thoroughly enjoyed what he taught. He energized Waco Hall with his style of speaking and passion and I genuinely had fun and looked forwards to that class. The workload was hard and required investment but you can get by with a B by just showing up to class. He was working in a large classroom and tried his hardest to reach and be available to his students either through his TAs or by staying after class to take questions. He is conscious of what polisci students are going to want to hear abt so he adapted his lectures to incorporate current events along with his lecture. The readings were minimal and most studying was left to do yourself. The assignments outside of tests and essays were not hard but you need to stay on top of the due dates. Tests were hard and required review. All multiple choice. He had a few in class essays as well. Fabulous professor, take him if you get the chance  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-12-30

Comments:PSC 1387 - This man is the cockiest, rudest professor I have ever had to deal with. I have never written a bad review for a professor before so that tells you how strongly I feel about this. He has a holier than thou mentality and is just snobby. He does not care about his students at all. Take a different professor, this guy's not a good professor and will screw your GPA.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-11-19

Comments:3340 - Bridge has interesting lectures that challenge you but there are many things wrong with him. His tests are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT and his assignments have the most pointless due dates. Overall he is a child pretending to be a professor and I wouldn’t take him again.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2020-11-08

Comments:2302 - This professor is petty and highly biased. He is young and inexperienced and is a much better researcher than he is as a teacher. If given the option take this class with another professor. You will thank me later.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Date: 2020-08-21

Comments:PSC 3301 - Bridge is not for the faint of heart. He is very direct and gets disappointed if students ask questions that they should already know the answer to (things that are listed in the syllabus or something he already talked about, etc.). I had him for an online course though so I can’t speak to some of the other things students said in regards to his name. In the course he was fairly communicative until the end, then he stopped answering emails. He did explain the material in his recorded lectures in a way that was approachable and easy to understand. I found the workload extremely reasonable for a minimester and would consider taking him for other classes in the future.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-06-12

Comments:2302 - Dr. Bridge is phenomenal. Lectures were captivating, he encourages class discussion and comment, and he was always respectful and kind to students. Strongly, strongly recommend taking him.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-23

Comments:2302 - I took Bridge for 2302 Constitutional Development. I can not recommend him enough. He is INCREDIBLY prepared for each lecture which is impressive just to watch. He is also INCREDIBLY eloquent and clear in conveying (honestly pretty difficult) concepts. There’s so much more to why Bridge is such a great professor but I’ll leave it there. As far as the workload, how well you do absolutely depends on how much work you want to put in. His lectures were so dense that I would immediately study them after I left class. You can absolutely do well if you already have a deep understanding of the American government, but you’ll probably realize you don’t actually know as much as you think. Almost the entire grade depends on 4 exams, like most other college courses. All I’m saying is that if you love the government and desire to deeply understand the way it works and why, TAKE BRIDGE.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-02-20

Comments:PSC 2302 - This was by far my favorite class all semester. Dr. Bridge is absolutely amazing and an excellent teacher. He’s very entertaining and is always cracking cringeworthy jokes (but still makes you laugh). There’s a canvas quiz and response due almost every class period which look short but they’ll take you a long time to do. There’s no time limit so you can look through the book or online while you take them but still don’t expect to do well on them. They don’t affect your grade much tho. The only homework is reading which looks like a lot but it’s really not. His exams are all free response and are challenging but fair (80-85% from lectures and 15-20% from the reading). He also curves the exams and your final grade at the end. And he even held review sessions outside of class to help prepare us for the exams. I can’t recommend Bridge enough!!! I also found him fairly attractive so that helped lol  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-12-19

Comments:PSC 2302 - Bridge is an amazing prof who really cares about his students. He clearly puts lots of work into his lectures and teaching the material. For a core class, you will certainly get something out of it. For the sake of learning, I can not recommend Bridge enough. For your grade on the other hand, there’s probably easier profs you could take. However, the class is definitely manageable. I am a poly sci major so take this with a grain of salt. There is a canvas quiz due every class which require 50+ pages of reading and court cases. There’s only about 6 questions and they will hurt your average. Not huge part of your grade - just very annoying to read for 3 hours and get a 2/6. Tests aren’t too bad, sometimes poorly written, but Bridge always curved them accordingly which was very fair and greatly appreciated. He also curved all our grades up a letter. Basically - If you want to learn, become a better citizen, and are willing to put in a reasonable amount of work, TAKE BRIDGE.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-12-18

Comments:PSC 2302 - He is a brilliant teacher, he really tries hard to get his students to understand the rhetoric and he likes to have relationships with his students. His class is 80% lecture and 20% reading, and the tests are like that too. He's not hard he just wants details and facts on his free response exams.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2019-11-21

Comments:3340 - I had Dr. Bridge this last semester for Campaigns and Elections. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how these few, dissonant, yet prominent voices of students who actually appreciate what Dr. Bridge's class had to offer can manage to sway the masses to this extent. Suffices to say, it's important to note these sheep are beginning poli sci students, yet believe themselves qualified enough to discuss the merits of reviews left by upper level students in a different class. I would also hope any political science student at this point in their collegiate career could get an A in any intro poli-sci class irrespective of the Professor and enjoy the class to a certain degree as it's largely a cookie cutter phenomenon. To put it bluntly, these individuals who are satisfied with receiving an A- (Ah menooses) have yet to be truly battle tested. The course itself is a lie. Campaigns and elections are covered for approximately the last 1/3 of the semester, with the remainder of the class comprised of reading regression articles and you working on your own. He was funny and charming at times, but with the work load and demeanor he exhibited in class sometimes, he bordered upon just being a disinterested jerk. Lastly, and less importantly, Dr. Bridge oddly was insistent that we refer to him as Dr. David Puente (Bridge in spanish, in deference to his family's heritage as well as Texas's changing demographics. Word to the wise, this dynamic is more pervasive in the Spring semester in recognition of Cinco De Mayo- and he will at times offer extra credit (up to 3 points on the final).)  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-06-08

Comments:3340 - David (pronounced da-veed) Bridge is a terrible professor. Though you think he is a nice guy at first (as he hates being referred to as Dr. Bridge and wants his students to call him by his first name to reduce the feeling that he is in any way above you), you will find he is not. He gets far too upset with students who pronounce his name David instead of the spanish version of David (pronounced da-veed), so don't make this mistake as he is a native of San-Francisco with parents from Spain. This aside, I found the class challenging, but thought I would be fine considering my grades throughout the semester and thought that he would come through at the end. Nope. He gave me a 65% grade for completion, and that dropped me from an A to an A-. This was perplexing, as I spoke in class almost every time and contributed to the discussion. Moreover, this was a class replete with statistical analysis (far too much of it). If this sounds like a fair class to you feel free to take it, but I would steer clear of it if you care about your GPA--you don't want to end up like the falsely confident reviewer below this (on 5-27-2019) who did well in an easy university requirement class and who will eventually get run at work when they take classes taught by omega wolves like David Bridge.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - To those looking at Dr. Bridge for the Constitution class – please scroll down a bit and see the all amazing ratings Bridge has. Those are 100% true. He is an entertaining lecturer, an approachable professor, and a fair test giver. He makes students work for sure, but is always willing to meet you where you are and help as needed if you put in the effort (which you should – his classes are awesome). His tests are all short answer fill in the blank, but they are definitely a fair review of the material that he covers well in class. If you’re serious about political science, I can’t recommend a professor more highly than Dr. Bridge. Comments:3340 - Campaigns & Elections has got to be one of my all-time favorite classes at Baylor. I learned so much from the articles we read and in-class discussions, and Dr. Bridge’s lectures are a blast. The class was a fair bit of work, but completely within reason and a fair trade for all you get out of it. In addition to a historical and comparative view of election systems that the lectures and readings give, Dr. Bridge also teaches regression analysis in the class and you produce a high-quality paper using the method. It can sound daunting, but Bridge takes his time and makes sure everyone is on board with the material, and holds your hand throughout the writing process, giving tons of feedback and direction. This is probably the most useful class offered to PSC majors – take it take it take it.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3340 - David went back on his word that he would curve the class. Furthermore, he gave me a participation grade that was absolutely not commensurate with my efforts to participate in and facilitate class discussion. He cheated a.k.a. Cheatarse. Not today zurg.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3340 - To clarify I got an A minus (pronounced A mee noose as I was cheated out of an A). Dave is a liar who told us he would curve our grades at the end and he didn't. Also he shouldn't be wearing cowboy boots--there's no such thing as a San Francisco cowboy. He also refused to discuss the unfairness of my final grade with me. No suprise, however, because at the end of the day, Dave Bridge will run and hide like he always does--he's a coward.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3340 - I agree with the poster below. This class and this man are predicated upon lies. Gimp.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3340 - While I was not enrolled in 2304, I do agree with the posters below, and specifically what was said about tests and him and the class being unnecessarily difficult. Dave is a funny guy and is very colloquial in how he addresses his students. He dropped F bombs on occasion in class, and to this end really fostered a relaxed atmosphere. His tests, however, are a big wild card. He won't narrow down what to study and seems to be purposefully vague in how he responds to make his students sweat. The final exam is a take home final that is one question that students are to respond in essay format on canvas. He won’t narrow down what possible questions might be, and this specific year, this question could have been answered with the same efficacy irrespective of whether one took the class or not. He seems to have some sort of superiority complex in how he views his students and sees it as his "duty" to give them a challenging class, even if it is artificially so. The class mainly focuses on topics outside of campaigns and elections: the class is 70% regression articles, reading them and then eventually writing your own(heavy grind). He will tell you this on syllabus day, and he will advise you to drop if you didn't want to sign up for that. Seriously do consider it. It's not avoiding a challenge, but rather simply avoiding being a glutton for punishment. He seems like a really nice guy, but he is a difficult grader on top of not giving you crystal clear expectations. The difficult thing to get past is this is an unrequired elective course that ended up dropping my GPA unnecessarily. And I promise I'm used to hard classes in the Honors sequence. The last thing I will say is he spoke of curving the class at the end of the semester in light of rough averages throughout the year, which he himself admitted could not be solely a function of the students but rather also his teaching style and he promised his students to curve grades.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - As a solid but not excellent student, I have conflicting feelings about this class. Bridge made class interesting and I feel like I genuinely learned every day. However, the tests and essays were graded pretty harshly and somewhat irrational in my opinion. He would deduct excessive points for the smallest errors and the tests are all short answer. One of the essay topics was timed and not even remotely relevant to what we learned. I learned and loved the way Bridge teaches, but in terms of getting a high grade, I got a B+ despite a lot of hard work and feeling prepared for tests.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - Ok I have NEVER had a professor grade like such an asshole in my entire life. I made A's on EVERY test but because he graded awful on essays, I got a B-. The essays will murder you. My class was also geared towards PSC majors, which I am not, and he did not try to make it fair for me whatsoever. I had no background knowledge on political science, but that is what you need to get an A in this course. One of the essays was irrelevant to the material learned and was based off your own knowledge of something specific about Trump's presidency which you had 50 min to write. He will fail you on participation and your opinions if they are not coherent enough. You don't really need the book because its easier to google on quizzes. Quizzes are simple, they don't count for much though. I will say he is a funny guy, and it is a fun class. But I have made A's in calculus, biology, physics ect. but it is IMPOSSIBLE to do well in this course, no matter how hard you try. I went to office hours multiple times, and every question I'd ask he'd say "I'm not gonna give that one away...." You'll love this man until your final grade is in, guaranteed.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2302 - Definitely one of my favorite professors. He keeps the class entertaining and does a really good job of teaching and encouraging conversation. I've never had a teacher so encouraging of people sharing their opinions and helping them clarify their stances. Powerpoint slides are posted online and there are usually 2 very short canvas quizzes every week. Exams are short answer and a bit difficult. The first essay is graded harshly but the second one is a lot more lenient. His class is hard, but he is a great professor and one of my favorites because of his personality and teaching ability.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2302 - Dr. Bridge is amazing!! Best professor I've had. He not only knows what he's talking about but is passionate about the material. He is super funny and makes his lectures engaging and class flies by. There are online "quizzes" on canvas 1-2 times a week but are easy. There are 4 tests that are short answers but if you go to class and pay attention you'll be fine! Definitely take him if you need to take 2302 or any other class he teaches!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - DO NOT TAKE. This man is SO rude and vulgar. He makes the most inappropriate jokes and continuously curses throughout class. Exams are short answer and are graded very harshly. You have to write two essays. Good look getting above a B on them, especially since you will only have 40 minutes to write the second. He does not post his notes online. You have to write everything he says. No extra credit.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 2302 - Dr. Bridge knows his stuff, and he wants you to know it as well. He's a very passionate and entertaining lecturer. He makes sure you don't fall asleep in this class. He only has two essays and three tests throughout the entire course. There was practically no preparation for class besides a few pages of reading, which was not bad at all. Pay attention, take good notes, and stop him if you can't understand something, and you will do great on his tests. All of his tests are short answer, but if you studied your notes, the answers are all right there. We only studied a few court cases, and we only had to read one on our own. Great guy to fulfill the Political Science credit. He actually made me very interested in the topic.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - Bridge is my favorite professor at Baylor. I was going into this class a little bit nervous, as it doesn't have the best reputation here at Baylor, but I ended up loving the class to the point where I was disappointed if I ever had to miss one of Bridge's lectures. He focuses on the foundations of American Consititional Development rather than focusing on court cases like many of the other professors do. If you go to lectures and take notes, you should get a good grade in the class. There are three exams and two papers. Minimal reading. I would definitely recommend taking Bridge for PSC 2302 if you have the option. His class made me think about minoring in political science and I probably would if I had enough credits left.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - By far my favorite professor at Baylor. I am a business student and took his course not knowing what to expect. Most of the b-school professors will keep you in class the full 50 minutes even if they have nothing more worthwhile to say, which is a big waste of their time and your time. He can be funny at times, and corny at others, but is definitely trying to keep it interesting.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Campaigns & Elections - Bridge is an awesome teacher. Campaigns and elections is a great class. He invites you over for dinner at his house on election night. His lectures are never boring. You have to write one paper and the exams are one essay questions take-home. Take this class!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2014-11-10

Comments:PSC 2302 - Bridge's class is almost entirely lecture-based, there are no surprises! Every test has one or two questions from the reading. He only assigns like three or four pages of reading per test! He's incredibly accessible if you have questions on your tests. He isn't obsessed with memorization of court cases, but focuses on the general understanding of the material covered. He's pretty young, and has a mildly sketchy futon. But, he really loves his subject and is always willing to help. Really helped me choose to switch my major to political science. The tests were literally the powerpoints in class. My one complaint was that he said it was pointless to vote in states that are not swing states. This is our civic duty.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ACD - Dr. Bridge makes ACD painless. He is a very efficient professor. You do most of your learning in class, not outside class reading the textbook. Besides the essays (which are graded very tough) there is little to no homework. Realize you will make a bad grade on the essays, but that participation and easier tests will make up for it. If you like poli-sci, he\'s a great professor to take. If you don\'t, he\'s still the least painful way to take the course. He gets that most students take ACD because they have to.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACD - Bridge is an awesome teacher. His class is not the easiest, but there is hardly any workload on a daily basis. He teaches very well. He is passionate about the subject and makes you want to learn more. Don't be discouraged if you get a bad grade on the first paper. He softens up. Take him if you can get in. It will be worth it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I wouldn't say Dave is an awful teacher, but he made the subject rather boring and irritating. First, he does a weird "gamble" your grade game at the beginning of the semester, where students can assign their grades to weigh more on certain exams/essays. I would recommend NOT gambling, as it was a HUGE mistake and... well... look at my grade now. Second, he doesn't grade his own papers. He has his TA grade them and the TA was terrible, rude, and overall unhelpful when trying to write the essays. In fact, this TA in particular was so ignorant of basic grammar of English, I’d wager that a five year old would have been by far a better grader. I had another professor with a PhD tell me that the TA should have been fired. Perhaps you'll get a better TA, reader, or perhaps not. Dave really gets points docked here. It’s lazy and reflects badly on his “experience.” Third, Dave had an attitude of "idgaf" whenever approaching him with problems in class. I was usually told that he “stands by all his TA’s final decisions on grades” and to "start a study group and review the notes" in defense of his braindead TA, which is childish like he “pretends” to be. My last complaint was his personality, I hated it. People might love it, but I was unamused by his "16 year old" attitude as he calls it. Actually, it’s seemingly reflective of how I would expect someone of that age to run this political science course at Baylor University. However, with all this being said, the class isn't hell. Dave makes lectures somewhat interesting, considering the course itself being a bore. I've had much worse teachers before and Dave isn't a spiteful professor. Word of the vine is that Dave is the best choice as well for this course. Don't let my review deter you completely from this class, just learn from my mistakes and prepare. The workload is almost non-existent, minus some reading. Don't take this for granted, as there's little room for mistakes. You will also have to show up for class for a grade, so DON'T MISS IT. Make this class your "there's no way I'll miss it" class and you'll be golden. All in all, I didn't put too much effort into this class after being so turned off by it halfway through, but I still passed so I will spare Dave from any final complaints or insults. It still haunts me and I feel like my grade was unfair, but I know I’m still much better off now that I’m out of his class. Hope this helps you, reader.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:2302 - Dr. Bridge is awesome. He is very young, and is hilarious. He is very straightforward with the class, and tries to involve a class discussion kind of atmosphere in each class by asking brod questions to the class in an effort to begin discussion between students. He is very passionate about the subject that he teaches, and is very bright. There are 3 tests and a final, and two essays that you have to do for his class (2 pages each). His tests are all essay questions (10 of them), and if you study a decent amount for them they're not too hard to get an A on. He is very open to criticisms and suggestions on how to improve his class, and even does a "halfway evaluation" to try and better the class halfway through the semester. He is very friendly, and tries very hard to memorize everyones name in the class of 30 + people. He is a tough but fair grader on the essays, and wants you to write concise papers instead of adding unnecessary fluff. He is a very entertaining lecturer who makes an otherwise dull subject very interesting. I would highly recommend taking Bridge if you have the opportunity.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3340 - Dr. Bridge is one of my favorite professors to listen to. He makes class a lot of fun and he makes lectures unique and unlike the regurgitaged political history lessons you've heard a million times. He integrates games/simulations into the class which are a lot of fun. HOWEVER, his grading is extremely subjective. His tests are also all essay and he expects you to pretty much integrate everything we've discussed in the class into one essay. That being said, I got a C+ on the first test. He assigns a long paper along with a detailed rubric. He does help out with this paper a lot, but I still did not end up with the grade I wanted. Overall, Dr. Bridge is really a great professor. You'll learn more than you ever wanted to, but don't take him if you're looking for an easy A.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 2302 (Am. Const. Dev) - Bridge thinks he's a lot more fun and interesting than he is. That being said, he's fun and interesting. He just loves the way he teaches and his curriculum and will go on and on about it. The BEST part of his class is that there's no homework. 2 essays, 2 tests, and a final. He pretty much tells you what will be on the tests and they're all easy essay tests. The papers he is weird about. I recommend going to show yours to him before you turn it in.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM OH MY GOSH TAKE HIM. so interesting, I actually loved going to class. He takes a very boring subject and makes it interesting. Tests were fair, and you get some say in how your grade is weighed. My favorite professor/class, and that's coming from a biology major.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Bridge is the best professor I have had at Baylor. His classes are always interesting and fun, and he is very willing to help you out and tell you what he did or did not like on papers. I was ready for Constitutional Development to be the most boring class in the world, but Bridge made it my favorite class, until the next class I took with him! There were 2 essays that are pretty tough because they can only be 2 pages long and he is a little bit vague on the prompt but he is very willing to help. The tests were very easy if you study and he actually went over everything in class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - BEST PROFESSOR IN AMERICA!! no but seriously..he is the best! Go to class every single day and you will have no problem..i didnt even purchase the book and with my notes i made A's on all the test. The essays are graded a bit tough but he challenges you to be your best..if you dont want that then you shouldnt be in college any way. But this man is awesome..i hate histoty with a passion but after this class i want to take a history class with him just for fun 0__0 i never write reviews but this man deserves one...if you want a interesting 2302 class that will have you going home every class with something to think about this is the one for you! TAKE THIS CLASS!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2302 - Bridge is a great teacher, SERIOUSLY GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY, the tests are DIRECTLY from his lectures with a tiny bit from the book, you have barely any reading, the papers are pretty simple if you ask him to help you, he is extremely helpful if you ask him, he wants to see his students suceed and so he will help you! I was in the class with 130 other people and when I went to help him with my paper he was totally helpful, remembered my name and followed up on questions I had. He makes his lectures pretty entertaining and he doesnt post anything on blackboard because he wants you to come to class. I would definitley take him again!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2302 - Bridge is an awesome teacher and an awesome guy. He knows that most people in his class would rather be anywhere but his class so he tries as best as he can to make it interesting. There are great class discussions and he puts a lot of effort into his power points by making them very short, but with lots of information. There are 2 tests and 2 papers. The tests are straight forward essays which he helps prepare you for and the papers are 3 pages max. The papers you have to put some effort in because he is a tough grader, however, he makes up for it by weighting the tests so much more. If you put the effort in to study and just write down the power points you should have no problem. By far the best ACD teacher there is and possibly one of the best in the PSC department.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - I took bridge's ACD class as a freshman and was sure on the first day I'd end up with a C. He comes across as a total tool at first, but he is an excellent teacher. we did more than learn about court cases all year, and he made each class session interesting. there are "readings" which nobody did, and no quizzes, so the workload is relatively light. the two essays are both 3 page papers max, but they require a lot of thought because of his tough grading. the midterm and the final are both essay, and are very straightforward, but definitely require a fair amount of studying. even if I'd gotten a lower grade, I wouldn't have taken another teacher. bridge's class is worth the work.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2011-05-16

Comments:2302 - Bridge comes across as a jerk, but he is really funny and really cool. He knows the students don't want to be there and wouldn't take this course if Baylor didn't require it. He gives 2 papers and 2 exams. He grades extremely harshly on the papers, but is more lenient on the midterm and final. He cusses in class sometimes and doesn't seem to respect the students, but it all depends on how well you know him. I would definitely recommend going to his office because he is really helpful!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2302 - Very very interesting professor. You will never be bored in class and there's absolutely no homework or quizzes, but his tests are very hard. He only has two papers, a midterm and a final but they are all essay and he is an extremely strict grader. Pretty much, if you miss anything on the rubric he uses, you get points off. Fun class, just make sure you take really good notes because he doesn't have a review session for the final and the essay prompts are really broad.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3340 - This class taught me more about how research was presented than Scope and Methods, even though the class was on Campaigns and Elections. Bridge has such a clear, funny, and irreverent way of presenting things that his classes were incredibly fun. I hated the Wednesday night time slot, but hey, it only met once a week and we even had a night at Bridge's apartment to eat dinner and watch the election returns come in, which was an absolute blast. Take this professor! You don't really have homework in the class aside from the readings, which are all online. There was no assigned book, which was awesome. The tests were more than passable if you did all the readings, paid good attention in class, and used the study sheet he passes out to study with. The only homework we got were a couple of essays, which I farted around on until the last possible minute and my grade suffered accordingly (I think I got As on both exams...so eek!). Don't do that--they're a significant part of your grade and questions that aren't that hard. Bridge is also very accessible via e-mail if you have questions. If you have a lot of questions, it's easy to set up an appointment for office hours or catch him after class. Take his classes! They are so much fun.   - Grade In Class:C
