Comments:ASL 2 - I love him as a teacher; I learned so much, as he is deaf, and it helps you learn a lot, and it's a really fun class. There are a few projects, but that's about it, and the tests aren't bad, but you do need to study the vocab. That being said, he's not always the most prepared for class and will sometimes show Facebook videos for class, but you do learn alot and he is a very kind person. He is very fast at answering emails wich is really nice. I would 100% recomend this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CSD 2301 - I've taken Dr. Lummer for the past 3 ASL classes, and I absolutely love him! He's very funny and definitely has his favorites in the class. The projects aren't difficult, if you sign well. There is no extra credit and the grading is a bit inconsistent but otherwise, he is a great professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Super fun teacher, really nice and very helpful. Workload is very doable.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - ASL 3, he doesn't really teach, he kind of just assigns projects and signs at you. not a lot of asl convos and practice. his grading is also not consistent so you dont know what you're doing wrong and right. but hes a great guy.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1405 - Mr. Lummer is a very nice professor, but he doesn't always seem prepared for class. The course is not very difficult, but his assignments can be confusing because he does not always specify exactly what he wants until after you complete the assignment and it's already graded. The tests and quizzes are okay but he always includes at least 1 question about obscure parts of the reading that no one would think to look at. Overall he's very nice but not always super specific or prepared.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Dr. Lummer is a nice person, however, I don't think he's a very good professor. I have not learned nearly as much as I would have hoped or really improved my signing and it seems like he tries to fill time until class is over. The quizzes are simple, there is one test, and three projects. If I had to choose again, I'd pick a different professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ASL II - I had him for both ASL I and ASL II. I absolutely loved him for ASL I. I learned so much and loved going to the class. However, I had him TR for almost two hours for ASL II and it is AWFUL! He was super unorganized and very unclear with what he wanted from us. Many of us in the class felt as if our signing skills had gotten worse due to the lack of signing in the class. It was mostly just watching him sign, which won't help you. For ASL II, you have 5 quizzes, 2 tests, a fable story( Tortoise and the Hare) and an exit interview. I ended up with an A-, but I'm scared I will be behind for ASL III.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1406 - I love Dr. Lummer!! He's my favorite ASL teacher to date. His class isn't too difficult, yet we still manage to learn a lot. & it's really cool to watch him and his teaching assistant (who are both deaf) sign-- which is something you can only get with those who are native to the language. He sticks with the syllabus and offers extra credit (e.g. wearing your ASL club t-shirt for bonus points on quiz/test, attending a Deaf poetry signing, etc.) I recommend him!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - So far, I have taken Lummer for ASL I-III and I would suggest starting off with a different professor. He's great for ASL I, but then he begins to become extremely unreasonable in ASL II and III. He forgets that you have other classes or things to do and will randomly assign 3 major projects due that week without being on the syllabus. I like him as a person, and he's pretty available if you need help, but if you don't understand something he thinks is simple, he will be very sassy with you. His tests and quizzes are not good representations of what we learn in class and from the textbook. He always throws in signs that we've never seen before and grades SUPER unfairly. He's good for the first few classes, but you might as well just take someone else.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ASL I-IV - I took Dr. Lummer for all four years of ASL. It is my opinion that you WILL be a proficient signer after going through this program with Professor Lummer as a teacher. I can't express what an incredible opportunity it is to learn from a Deaf person, a native signer. Take advantage of all the wisdom Dr. L has to offer!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1405 - Pretty good class, but not great, either. I learned a decent bit of stuff, but some of it was pretty boring. If you're interested in the material, you'll probably be fine. I could of had an A if I kept up with the reading better.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ASL 2-4 - I really enjoy Dr. Lummer as a person. He is a really neat man! Get to know him- it will serve you well. I suggest taking a different professor for 1, then taking him for the rest. You really get immersed in the language and while it is difficult to pick up at times, he always wants to make sure you understand him- even going over things an insane amount of times. But if you think about it, ASL is for communicating with Deaf. And Dr. Lummer communicates like that. Yes, it can be hard to understand at times- but in the long haul, I feel it has taught me to be a better signer. I look back and I really am much more fluid than my friends who took other teachers.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1405 - ASL 1 - Dr. Lummer is a nice man. However, teaching wise he expects you to know your alphabet, how to sign your name, and other basic signs. If you are the type of student that needs to be taken step by step, he's not really the teacher to take. He jumps into class and expects a lot of his students. It was neat learning from him but that ended up causing more communication problems. If you are willing to put a lot of office hours, extra time, and tutoring in you will succeed quite well.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ASL 1 - Dr. Lummer is a very nice man and his class was really interesting. He and his assistant teacher Larry taught the class and it was very cool to learn ASL from native signers. That being said, this class was difficult for me. Having no previous experience with Sign Language, the language barrier often made it hard for me to learn and communicate. There were two exams, an interview, and a final. Overall, this class was really interesting and fun, however keeping up my grade was very difficult, and it will definitely help you out if you have previous experience in the language.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ASL 1 - Dr. Lummer is very nice. He is patient with you when you are learning the signs and he makes sure the class understand the material before testing. He and his assistant Larry make an excellent team and they make the class very entertaining. Seeing as they are both deaf, it can be very scary your first day, but they completely understand. The workbook helps a lot and dont be afraid to ask questions or let them know if you dont understand something. I look forward to taking him for ASL II!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1402- ASL1 - Dr. Lummer is a great teacher. He gears his class towards his students and how well they are or are not understanding the material. It can get kind of boring the lectures, but there are also very funny/entertaining moments. He plans his tests based on how ready he feels the class is. His tests are fairly simple as long as you have studied, done the homework and paid attention in class. Overall, I would take this class again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1402 - ASL 1: This is by far the best class I have taken at Baylor. Professor Lummer is deaf, however this makes for an excellent way to learn and remember your ASL. He is a very sweet, patient, and thoughtful man. Always willing to help his students! The first day you will be overwhelmeded but it will pass. Excellent class.   - Grade In Class:B+
