*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:5330 - He is the absolute worst professor at Baylor. He can not explain anything at all. All he does is read word for word from his powerpoints. His reading, powerpoints, homework, and test all teach the material in different formats which makes it impossible. He does not give out help at all which is awful. He also told us we are not allowed to use excel and instead to use r studio. No one has ever heard of r. Imagine going into the work place saying you have no idea how to use excel because this insane professor said it was not effective. He also went crazy and forced us all to us lockdown browser halfway through the semester when some people he accused of cheating. He should not have punished the whole class for the actions of a few. Class averages are failing for every exam with the lockdown browser. This shows that this professor has no idea how to teach. He is absolutely terrible and awful, and will seem happy with a smile if he fails students. He has no heart and should not be teaching at this university. Run away from this man, he will ruin your GPA. I have never had a professor that treats students with so much disrespect than this man. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:5330 - Great guy. This class definitely isn't a heavy lift. You basically get 10% of your grade automatically, and the three tests and three projects are pretty easy. Lectures can be a bit dry, tho, and you often get out of class after 45 minutes. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - He was great but it was hard for me to stay focus because his voice was so boring. Other than that his class was great - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - Take him at all costs, wait a semester if you can. You will not regret it. You get out early, he's always there to help, test are extremely straight forward and nothing to worry about if you study some. There are take home exams attached to each exam so you can easily help your grade if you didn't do too well on the in class exam. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - TAKE HIM!!! Professor McElroy is such a kind person who cares so much about his students. He was always very encouraging and made me less stressed about the material. I know some people didn't like how he just wrote the notes wihtout discussing it much, but I did not mind it at all. His class was very relaxing because he wouldn't randomly call on you. He also let us out early almost every class. Highly recommend!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - This man is the best prof I have ever had. Easiest A of my life and I am god awful at statistics. Minimal effort required and he bumped me up to an A. True baller. This dude is a stud. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - I felt it impossible to stay focused during his very slow and monotone lectures. No homework of any sort, so I often forgot I was in this class. I easily received an A by teaching myself all the material the night before the exams. We learned almost nothing. McElroy is very laid back and kind, but the class was a joke if you actually want to understand any sort of statistics. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - I’ll grade this based on two categories.. The class itself, & the professors likeability. The class is boring, no sugar costing that.. & the material is dull. The course doesn’t have homework/busy work which is a positive. It consists of 3 exams(including the final) & three take home exams.. which aren’t too terrible. The professor as a person is amazing, super nice guy who wants you to succeed. I’d recommend him, because it could be ALOT worse. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 3305 - Quirky dude, but he really cares about his students! If you show effort and meet with him, he will be merciful to your grade. He also provides the material that you need, so you actually need the book unless you want the extra help. The class material is super boring, but he knows that and does his best to keep you engaged. He also treats his students like an adults which is refreshing! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:QBA3305 - Easy class! The class material is pretty boring but he tried his best to make it entertaining! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - McElroy is a pretty boring teacher during class. BUT, during his office hours, he is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. He loves getting to know students and is always willing to help them out. If you just study exactly what he puts on canvas, you will probably get an A. His exams aren't hard, although 90% of the time I had absolutely no idea what was going on in class. But he is a total sweetheart. I would definitely recommend taking him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3305 - This guy just writes his notes on the docu camera during class. I can count the amount of times he has actually talked all semester on one hand. you are expected to just copy his notes that he writes in front you of you. I absolutely hate this method of teaching. I never learned anything. This class is also new as the business school has recently restructured this class. This class is extremely boring and dry. He never takes attendance so take that as a positive or negative. Since I missed a few classes, I think thats hurt my grade a little. There are only two professors for this class so it is up to you but either way, this is a dry class. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:QBA 2302 - Professor McElroy is super chill and a really nice guy. Lecture gets a little dry at times, and he simply writes out notes for everyone to copy down. He often lets you out of class early. He assigned online homework (about 20-30 problems per unit), and it takes quite a while because you have to teach yourself some of the concepts here and there. The only grades for the class are the online homework (unlimited attempts) and then 4 tests and a final. The tests are not too bad. They are all multiple choice and 3 had a take home component. The in class is based on the notes he uploads online (be sure to study the vocab), and the take home portion is online. The take home is based on the excel sheets he posts online for the unit. He is also super available, and willing to work with students. He loves getting to know you and wants all his students to do well. Would definitely recommend. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 2302 - I had absolutely no idea what was going on in the class most of the time. He is kind of monotonous when he speaks and his explanations are not very clear. This is mostly due to the fact that I had never heard before most of the statistics terms he uses so it was hard to keep up. He only leaves online homework on a couple of chapters; however, these problems were often extremely hard to figure out. Easy once you knew how to do it but expect to spend HOURS figuring it out on your own. You have unlimited attempts so getting hundreds on these is possible. He even opens all of them back up at the end of the semester. His tests are part in-class and part online. The in-class part seems easy (multiple choice) but has a couple trick questions. The online part is hard but you have unlimited resources to help you do it. All in all, he ended up bumping my grade up an entire letter grade and for that I am thankful. He is really nice, just not the best at actually teaching. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:QBA 2302 - There are plenty of positive ratings on here for prof. McElroy, but you should all know that he is an EXTREMELY helpful professor. Makes himself available to anyone that reaches out to him. He actually cares about you personally. I created an account just to write this review, and I plan on deactivating my account after this because he is that awesome. Make an effort to succeed in his class and he will notice, and he often gives out really good grades to those students. He plays favorites for sure, but its easy to be one of them. Tests are part in class and part online, study the definitions for the in-class portion and use his Canvas examples for the online Excel portion. Super easy. Only reason I didnt get an A was that I didnt realize how helpful he was until after I got a 70 on the first test. Take his class if you can. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2305 - This class caught me by surprise because you only have four grades all semester, three exams and a final. The grades become less weighted as the semester goes on, so make sure to start the semester well on the tests. He doesn't assign graded homework or take attendance which is nice, but this also makes it easy to procrastinate learning the material until a night or two before the tests, which is what I did. The only reason I struggled in the class was because I wouldn't do any of the book practice problems throughout the unit and then would cram for the test. I bombed the final which put me at a 75 for the class, but when I checked my transcript he gave me a B-! This guy is really cool and such a homie, 100% take Mcelroy, the last thing he wants to see is his students not succeed. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:QBA I - Mr. McElroy is a cool dude. He explains the material really well and is super straightforward about his tests. Definitely take notes on what he says in class and his examples. Overall, great QBA professor. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2304 - Nicest professor in the world. Super helpful and always available if you have questions or don't understand something. Grades are based on only 4 exams including the final. Tests are fair, study definitions and conceptual questions. Took him for both QBAs and would definitely take him again. NICEST GUY EVER. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:QBA 1 - Awesome teacher. Really struggled in this class, but he helped me out so much and I was able to pull my grade out of the gutter and pass. Workload was easy, test were a little hard because its very conceptual and not what I was expecting from a mathematics based class. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:QBA 1 - Ultimate GOAT. such a good guy to learn from, very relatable to college students and the man loves what he does. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 2302/2305 - HES A BRO. Thats it. Take him. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:QBA 2305 - Take McElroy! QBA is a pretty dry subject but McElroy finds a way to keep it interesting. For those of you who took him for QBA 1, he does not use that grading scale for QBA 2. You'll be okay though, because QBA 2 isn't as difficult as QBA 1. McElroy gives four tests and a final. Each test is all multiple choice and a take-home part over JMP, which is an application that he uses in conjunction with the lectures to sort of visualize the concepts you learn in class. He doesn't take up homework, but I would recommend doing it, particularly the concept questions. A lot of those type of questions will be on the exam. So take notes, pay attention in class, and definitely go see him in his office hours if you need help with something, especially if you're unsure of how to work JMP because that's what the take home portion of the test will be over. Even if you don't need much help in the class, go and see him in his office hours because he's an awesome guy to talk to about QBA, Baylor, life, etc. I finished the class with an A because he bumped me up from an A-. If you're borderline, chances are you'll get the same treatment if you've talked with him a little bit and shown that you've made an effort in his class. And he really likes the kids who took him in QBA 1 and decide to take him for QBA 2. All in all, McElroy is the man and definitely my favorite professor I've taken at Baylor. So take McElroy! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 2302 - Dr. McElroy is a pretty awesome guy. He jokes around a lot. He spent the first day of class trying to get to know everyone. He really is a cool dude. The class itself is just meh. I had no prior experience in stats before I took this class so I was really confused. Read the book and do the homework, that helped a lot. Though he doesn't take it up, I would extremely encourage you to do the practice problems for the tests. He will give you a whole schedule at the beginning of the year, outlining the whole course, day-to-day. The tests are the only thing that count towards your grade and they are all multiple choice. This class is difficult enough to where he ranks you against your classmates. The people with the 35-40 highest averages get A's. Overall, this class isn't the best and it isn't the worst. Even if you have no idea what is going on, you can still get a decent grade if you just read the book and do the homework. Also, he lets class out early most of the time so that's always nice. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 1 - McElroy is the man. No doubt. If you were to rate him on just being a dude, for sure a 100. Really cool. However, his class is torturous if you like having any idea what's going on ever... because you don't. Class averages are about 55-60 on exams, and you've always just gotta hope to edge that out. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2302 - This man is a man among men. He could very well be the coolest professor at Baylor. He loves his students, makes hilarious comments in class, and will help you pretty much any time any day. If you have a chance to take him, please take him. His class is not too hard at all, especially if you go to office hours and his review sessions. Overall, he's a freakin stud, take him. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:QBA 2303 - TAKE HIM!!! he makes stats easy and understandable for anyone! he also makes class fun and lets class out early most of the time. make sure you do at least some of the practice problems before a test and you are almost garrenteed to get an A (the only reason I did not was I forgot to do the connect twice...) - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2302 - This class is pretty boring, but it really was not difficult at all. I am not a math person, nor have I ever taken statistics, but I thought it was completely do-able. McElroy is very friendly and has a very straightforward and dry teaching method. If you keep up with the book and practice homework (never due), it is not difficult. The BEST part about this class is that you are ranked against others in the course. This worked to my advantage in the fact that I got a 45 on the first exam due to my lack of preparation, and still received an A because the other 2/3rds of the class did worse than I did. Quizzes are a good grade boost. Just read the book and your notes the night before and you will do great. I got 100's on them. All tests and quizzes are multiple choice. Final is only over one chapter. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2304 - His lectures are pretty pointless. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. You'll make an A in the class no doubt. If I started going at the beginning of the semester and not when I was already behind, I would have made and A for sure. He's a great guy who cares and really tries to help. Just not a good lecturer. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2302 - Great guy, not the best teacher. His classes are usually short and confusing. I highly recommend you go to his office hours. His tests are somewhat tricky, but he does the class on a ranking system. Beat your peers for your A! Be sure to study for the first test, or it will hit you like a train and you will be playing catch up all semester. This class is not a blow-off like some say it is. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2302 - Very nice fellow! He always tells fun stories in class. But as a teacher this guy is horrible.I literally guessed in every single test I took with this guy, he doesn't teach. So in sum there is no work at all to do, but if you want to do well in the class be prepared to be able to teach yourself the material. Also he grades by rank so hope you do better than your classmates - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2302 - McElroy is a very nice guy and he makes class fun. But he is not very good at explaining the material. I left every class feeling completely LOST. I basically taught myself the material from the chapter notes he posts on BlackBoard. My advice is to do the readings early and go see him in office hours at least a week before the tests (he loves when students go to office hours and I learned much more in office hours than I did in class). Also, he bases your grade on ranking you against all the other QBA students and then curves accordingly. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA 2305 - McElroy is awesome and funny. If you have any questions just go see him he will work with you till you understand. His test are ok and he curves the grades so do not worry. Study the material before class it will help with his lectures. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2302 - I am definitely not a math person, but I got really high grades on his tests. His class is a couple of homework assignments (they can pile up, so do a few questions every night) and 4 tests (study class notes and homework). Check over and over these tests, you might get tricked because you weren't reading carefully. He's a really great guy, makes it fun, and always has a story for anything. He's very helpful. You can email him at any time, and he'll email you back within an hour or two. Also, you can go to his business hours/stay after class if you have any questions, and he'll put you on the right track. If you're not sure about a question on the test, ask him and he'll point you in the right direction. Definitely take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:QBA-2302 - He is my favorite professor at Baylor thus far. Always willing to help at office hours if you do not understand something. He's extremely cool and is an ex marine. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Definitely wish I could take him for the next QBA. TAKE HIM if he is available. You will not regret it. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:QBA 2302 - Great teacher, and an even better person. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2302 - One of my favorite professors I had last semester! Really interesting guy, teaches well, and makes the class super easy to understand. He assigns problem sets, but you don't have to turn them in. Your grade in the class consists of 4 tests a couple quizzes(which are very short and informal - he practically tells you exactly what he will ask). One of my easiest classes at Baylor by far. Definitely take him!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2302 - Hands down my favorite professor at Baylor. The material in Quantitative Business Statistics is not anything someone would willingly sign up to learn, but Mr. McElroy does an excellent job engaging students in the material. I learned more in this class than I expected and what he taught me saved me in the next level of this course. Great professor. Easy to talk to, available, and more than helpful. I recommend him to all business students required to take any course he is available to teach. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2302 - Easily the best teacher I've had so far at Baylor. He does all that he can do to help his students and does a great job teaching the material. His office hours were very convenient, and he was helpful when I went. I would definitely recommend Mr. McElroy!. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2302 - he is so great. nice guy. easy class - Grade In Class:A
