Comments:ENG 3351 - Take Dr. Pond! She is super laid back and is very willing to work with you! We had readings every class, but she supplied us with most of them (we only needed to buy 3 books) and they usually weren't very long. Every class we had a discussion board due, which was basically a completion grade. At the beginning of the semester, you will chose an author for the semester that you do a short presentation on, write a paper on, and create an ABL exhibit for. This class sounds like a lot of work, but there is not that much. The presentation is just a one page summary of an article, and the ABL exhibit is just 3 artifacts that you check out (I promise it is easy). The paper is worth 35%, but it is actually really fun if you get into it. The paper is an "introduction" to your author with a biography section, a letters section, and a scholarship section. If you like history, this is a really fun paper to write! There is surprisingly a lot of drama you can find about the authors when you start doing research. We had 3 weeks of "workshop" on the papers, so it is not as daunting as it seems if you write one section each week. There was one exam, but it was very easy and low-key (almost everyone got an A). I highly recommend this class, especially if you want to try out something a little different from your typical Brit Lit class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 3331 - I loved her! She was very helpful and willing to work with you if you needed it. There were 2 longer papers worth 25%, 5 close readings worth 25%, and 3 exams worth 50%. We got a review sheet for the exams and they were easy if you did the reading and came to class. The exams were short answer responses to questions. The class discussions were pretty laid back and easy to get involved in. Definitely take her if you can!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3331 - She is the best English professor hands down! She is extremely helpful with everything, and is the type of professor that wants you to succeed in the course. She has reading responses for the readings instead of quizzes, which was super easy and informal. For the first reading response, she let us redo the assignment if we weren't satisfied with the grade which helped a lot. The exams are written but if you took notes in class, you will have no problem making a 100; plus, she prepares us for it beforehand anyways. As an English major, I left the course feeling confident in the works we have discusses. Take her if you can!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Dr. Pond is the best English professor I have ever had! English is a tricky subject for me, but instead of having just major papers due, she does small quizzes or a reading response each class. There is almost always something due so you cannot get behind on the reading, and we go through 7 different units with three novels to be read so it is a fast-paced course, but she is always engaging and discussion based. She is a pretty gracious writer and cares a lot more about your overall idea than your writing skill. There are also two tests that she goes over a review and it is not too bad at all. I highly reccomend her if you can take her, do!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Had her for Brit Lit, her class was great. Overall did a great job of keeping discussions as engaging as possible. Depending on the unit reading can be pretty heavy but can also be really short. If you do the readings and put in some effort to the reading responses and quizzes you will do well in the class. She gives you the test questions before the test. Definitely would recommend taking her class  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Topics of Lit - All though she is a wonderful person and I felt like I genuinely learned from her class her final project was absurd. It was a new media project that required a ton of footage editing which she knew nothing about and gave us 2 weeks to do what surmounted to about 2 months of work. She did this because she didn't understand the software or time required for the project. She also gave us no definite structure for the project, she just said change the narrative. But then proceeded to grade the main project on opinion, and to top it all off we also had to write a 7-page paper. My group put in about 30 hours of work just to have her tell us she hated it. This hit really hard because we worked very hard on the project and we were proud of what we had. The class was fine up until that project. I believe she should do the project herself to gain a better understanding of what it was like to make the videos and write the essay. Maybe then she will also have a better understanding of what she wants out of it and can better explain it to her students. If you have experience with video editing or film you might be fine, but since the grading was mostly opinion I can't say for sure. If you want to learn about narrative perspective this is the class for you. I believe what I learned in this class will benefit me writing in the long run, but apparently won't do anything for my film skills.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Brit Lit - THIS LADY. I cannot say enough about. She truly is an angel. She treats everyone the same and is so effective with the way she teaches. She has a great heart and wants everyone to get an A so badly. I love her. Take her class!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 4368 - Absolutely one of my all time favorites in the English department. I took Dr. Pond in my final semester as an English lit major and she is literally the ONLY professor that no matter how good and interesting you are...NO ONE wants to listen to you talk for the full time on a t/th class!!! I know that it's hard to do much else with literature but Dr. Pond gets it and finds ways to break up the class time whether it's just talking in small groups or something else entirely. Bless her heart, I can't tell you how many countless hours I've spent in carroll science wishing to be anywhere but there while some old guy drowns on and on and on....loved this class, and the books she picked. The workload is pretty low besides the reading. There were two small papers and one big paper due at the end and that was it. Love love love her!!! Must take.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:American Lit - Best english professor I have EVER had (I'm an english major). Dr. Pond will meet with you whenever, responds to emails right away, and is very generous with grading (even if you're a crap writer, she'll grade you well if you visibly worked hard). Even if english is hard for you, you'll ace-- several pre-med students pulled A's pretty easily, same with business students. Her class discussions are always really chill, and she's possibly the nicest person I've ever met. I'm dying to take another of her classes just because she's so great. Whatever you have to do, whatever class you have to move to get her American lit, DO IT you will not regret it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - I LOVE Dr. Pond. For the first paper people didn't do all that well and she gave us the option to revise it for up to a letter grade better, on top of extra credit for going to the writing center before it was due. The readings were not that hard, and she explained them really well in class and got discussion going for every reading. Overall, for brit lit you have to take her. Favorite professor at baylor!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Take her. Take her. Take her. Dr. Pond is a wonderful teacher. I don't like poetry but she presents it in a way that holds my attention. In class we discuss what we read the night before. There are a lot of weird kids in my class but she puts up with everyone. I have never had a more graceful teacher. Even when someone makes a snarky comment, she plays it off and uses it to further our discussion. She grades very fairly and does not assign an unreasonable amount of work. Taking notes is optional but you will get an A if you do. The two tests in the class stem directly from our class discussions. All in all, I love Dr. Pond and I wish she taught more than just Brit Lit so I could take her again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - I LOVED Dr. Pond. She is fantastic. A true gem for Baylor. She is friendly and smart and funny - you could not get a better professor for Brit. Lit. Some of the stuff we read was difficult and did not make any sense, but Dr. Pond had her own special way of making it all fit together just perfectly when we got to class. I learned a ton in this class and really enjoyed it. There is a bit of workload, but its not bad. Readings everyday of course, along with a notecard with two questions you think of from what you read. Seems simple but it actually really gets you thinking about the text. She loves to draw themes out of the readings and also have the students make connections between different poems and essays, ect. There are two tests and a final. All essay questions. The first test was too long and Dr. Pond felt bad about that so she allowed us to finish it at home. She will give you a review sheet for the test and the test outline before the exam - you can pretty much walk into class with the test finished before you even get it. She also allows one page of notes (even small font - she doesn't care) and the book for exams. However, be sure you know your stuff - you will not have time to make connections on the day of the test if you did not study. There was also two reading responses, each two to three pages in length. She is not looking for grammar but does expect excellent writing. She will grade it then give it back and allow you to edit it for one higher grade. Overall, I feel like Dr. Pond is one of my all-time favorite profs. You should know that she loves the class to participate in the discussion. Don't be afraid to be wrong - she does not judge what you say and will use it to bring the entire class to a deeper understanding of the text. I just cannot say enough about her!  - Grade In Class:A
