Comments:Drawing I - Professor Gingles is the best drawing professor hands down. Whether you have years of experience or absolutely none, he works with you where you are. It is incredible how much you will grow in just one semester with him and he is extremely considerate about student needs (whether personal or as a class). This class takes time outside of class, but that is regardless of the professor. I highly highly recommend this class and especially Professor Gingles.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Drawing 1 - Such a kind and light-hearted man. He is super helpful and gives great feedback when you ask for it. He's encouraging and very understanding when life isn't treating you very well. He values hardworking students and expects a lot of time being spent on each project with the assumption you go into class after hours to work on projects, as most teachers do. If you put in the effort, it shouldn't be too challenging to get a good grade in his class. I'm not a great drawer, but I could tell he respected me for trying and reflected that in my final course grade.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:drawing I and II - It took me a couple of classes to warm up to him and his teaching style, but professor gingles is incredibly kind, funny, personable, and eager to help. He makes himself available for questions or extra help and wants the best for his students. If you are putting in the effort to do well in his class he notices and will know you. He is also very fun to talk to about random funny things. Great guy.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ART 1310 - Prof. Gingles is honestly a good teacher. I was so scared of drawing (like I cannot draw a stick figure) and I did just fine in his class. He critiques your work super hard, but grades very easy. I found the projects to be difficult, but they were very helpful and pushed me to be better at drawing. If you have to take drawing, do yourself and favor and take it with Prof. Gingles  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Drawing 1 - I personally loved being in Professor Gingle's drawing class. Each drawing assignment I completed helped me understand more about drawing and really helped to improve my art overall. I would not say this class is easy because in order to do well, you need to put a lot of time and effort into your drawings. I spent many hours outside of class each week in order to complete each drawing. Work days were really relaxed as we worked on our drawings and we were able to listen to music. During class, Professor Gingles would walk around and give helpful tips on how to fix our artwork. Also, he would allow us to email him or go to his office if we had questions about our artwork outside of class. He may seem quiet at first but once you get to know him, he is really easy to talk to during and outside of class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - This guy is the most narcissistic, insecure prof ever. He knows he’s not good enough and it oozes from his pores and he demands the assurance to feel otherwise. Avoid.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Drawing I was a surprisingly difficult class. I definitely think I improved in my skills over the semester - my grades on the projects, however, never seemed to really improve. Mr. Gingles was helpful when we were working on our projects but would also leave you alone when you were trying to work out a problem in the drawing on your own. Altogether he was a funny guy to talk to and was caring toward the students - he'd ask us how our days were going, let us out a bit early when he could tell we were all worn out, and even brought us food on the day of our final.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - I really do not recommend him. He picks favorites in the class and spends 90% of his time helping them with minor problems (even though he's obviously going to give them A's) and basically ignores the rest of the class. He gave two vocabulary quizzes (fill in the blank) and the rest of the grade is 7 drawings. The quizzes are really easy if you study but he grades the drawing based on talent that you came into the class with, not improvement or what you learned. I really don't recommend this class unless you are already pretty good at drawing and have prior experience. I had no prior experience and took this class for fun. I regretted it constantly. While he is a nice guy, he made no effort to talk to or even learn the names of the people in the class besides about 3 students who he showed very obvious favoritism (out of a class between 15-20 people). He's an excellent artist himself but he's a bit pompous.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Drawing I - Phenomenal teacher. Gingles transformed my artistic abilities and even motivated me to become a Studio Art major. His class consists simply of drawings and critiques. The critiques allow you to recognize your own mistakes and appreciate and mimic the talent of your peers. The class requires a great degree of work and stamina, which develops you into a much better artist. In the words of RG3, "No pressure, no diamonds".  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Drawing I - He's a really funny man and you should ask him about his farm stories-those sidetrack him easily. He's really passionate about art and it pretty much consumes his life. However, he's an awful teacher. He grades your artwork in comparison to everyone else's, rather than based solely on your own effort in the class. I put a lot of effort into the class and had noticeably better drawings than many of my peers, but I received the exact same grades as everyone else, even those who blew off the projects. He told us on the first day of class that it's really hard to get an A in his class, and he wasn't kidding. No one in my section (15 students) got an A and one or two people in the other section did. He's a big fan of the B+ grade. He will walk around the room to tell you what to do to make your drawing better, but even if you do exactly what he asks and he says your drawing is really good, he won't give you an A. He never responds to emails and the class isn't even listed/available on Blackboard. He's usually in his studio though so if you are free on nights/weekends, go get some brownie points and spend extra time on your projects. Basically, if you are the next Van Gogh, or would rather have a fun 3hr art class than get an A, take him; if you want fair grading, recognition of your effort, and a good education, stay far away.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Drawing 1 - LOVES JUSTIN BIEBER. He's a good teacher, seems mean at first but is really funny, and nice by the end of the semester. He's in his studio a lot so you can almost always find him for help, and doesn't so much grade you be if your amazing or not but by if you try and put in extra effort. Note to self Work on your project outside of class because it always ends up looking better with a little more time.  - Grade In Class:A
