Comments:BIO 4432 - I'd like to preface this by saying that if you need to dedicate your studying to understanding the material rather than just memorizing it. Also, just going to be honest, health science studies majors have an advantage because most (at least 60%) of the material has already been introduced in HP 1420 and HP 2306. As someone stated before, there is a lab quiz every week in the first 10 minutes of lab over the material and dissection of both the dissection cat AND some lecture questions combined that you learned from tophat about the topic of that week's dissection, a weekly cumulative lecture quiz over the material, weekly homework assignments due on Tuesday took me about 30mins max, two practical exams in the lab (she dropped one of them), 3 lecture exams (I made an basically an 80 on all 3), a lab presentation, and a final exam. Tests are basically all multiple choice and a heavy combination of both textbook understanding and application to clinical scenarios. If you have never taken an anatomy class at baylor, just be prepared to dedicate time to this class. It's not inherently difficult material, it's just A LOT in a small amount of time, and will definitely take you for a loop if everything is completely new. Make sure you stay up to date with everything, and I recommend testing your own knowledge by trying to teach someone else the material (just to make sure you understand it and could answer questions about it).  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:4432 - Solely made this account for this post. This class is not for the weak. Yes it’s a lot of memorization but we are talking the most memorization you will ever do in your life. On top of application which is all of her tests. I made the fatal mistake of taking physics, ochem, cognition (neuro major), and this class together in one semester. Obviously being right before finals I know this was such a beyond terrible combo. Parizi extremely knowledgeable but for those who struggle even the slightest in her class it is nothing but passive aggressive comments and at times insults to you as a student. If you don’t worship the ground she walks you won’t get another glance. Along with the fact that this class is the entire anatomy course that is taught in the first year of med school with the exceptions of embryology and histology. You should have a background in human anatomy or physiology but an emphasis on human anatomy, without those you should NOT take this course or you will quickly learn the consequences. This class is everyday for multiple hours including breaks and weekends. You cannot take more than 2 days without looking at the material or you will dig yourself a hole that’s impossible to get out of. Make sure you also always do the flipped lecture BEFORE class even if it means an hour or two less of sleep you will thank me. Back to the Professor, she is quite rude in any interaction that regards any formality or questions about her class. Expect a lack of understanding or respect if you have any external time conflicts or personal issues that conflict with any scheduled assignment, quiz, lab, practical, test, etc. There are lab quizzes each week BEFORE lab over the material and dissection you will do that day, a weekly cumulative quiz over the material, weekly homework assignments that require at least 45 minutes each, two practical exams in the lab, 3 lecture exams, a lab presentation, and a final exam. Overall the material of course is fascinating for anyone in any prehealth track and is strictly why I decided to persevere regardless of what grade I might end with. If you are currently in the middle of the semester in her class looking for someone who understands your struggle here it is! Stay inspired and focused, you will study this stuff for the rest of your life. It is okay to not succeed the first time, second time, third time, etc. Good luck, you got this!!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:BIO 4432 - Dr. Parizi is a great professor. She gives so many resources for you to use as you study and it actually makes studying for this lass very enjoyable. The exams are difficult, but fair, as long as you understand the material (not soley memorize) youw ill do just fine. I got a 98 and 99 on the first 2 exams respectivly. The lab is long and drug out at times but its still pretty cool, the practicals are difficult but also fair. Just study an hour at least everyday and 2-4 hours on weekend days and you'll be fine. Weekly quizzes that make sure you stay on track which helps. Go to class, study, watch the videos she posts, use her flipped lectures, and doing well in this class should be very attainable. a 68 rating is outragous for her caliber, at least 90+ in my books.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - nice lady but very stern. she has things her way or the highway but for good reasons. she wants everyone to learn the material beyond just for the classroom. sometimes she goes beyond what the exam material will cover. I recommend reading the textbook, going to SI, and doing practice exams from there cause she likely pulls a lot of questions from there.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:BIO4432 - Hi everyone. This is one of the hardest classes anyone can ever take for Baylor. But Dr. Parizi is one of the kindest and most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met. She truly pushed me into wanting to further my path for health care. People complaining about this class don’t understand that this is difficult material and this class will set you up to succeed. It is as difficult as it needs to be, Dr. Parizi does a wonderful job of going into depth and teaching everything for just 1 semester.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - This class is not easy, but it is straightforward. If you read the chapter and then come to the lecture (and/or SI) you should get an A. The class consisted of 4 exams, one of which is dropped, a 10% participation grade, and the final. Test questions were clearly not written to trick you but went over more than just the basic definitions in the textbook. I would highly recommend attending the lectures but maintain that the most important resource is the textbook. You must read each chapter. Dr. Parizi is an excellent teacher and changed the whole structure of the class to make sure students do well. After a low average on the first exam, she split us into groups of 6-7 in order to foster a group study environment which I have only heard positive feedback about from discussion with other students. She gave us fun little quizzes at the end of classes that did not affect our grade but tested out understanding very well. She also assigned presentations about different topics to our groups so that we could practice the highest form of learning, teaching. As far as availability goes, she rearranged her office hours multiple times so that students would be able to reach her, even despite the fact that very few students utilized office hours until they were desperate. In cases where students asked her for help or indicated that they were struggling she explained test questions or concepts that they struggled with and hooked them up with study partners who were already doing well in the class. If she were any more helpful, she would just be holding our hand through the semester. She is super cool and a must-take professor. Most of the people I personally witnessed complaining about Dr. Parizi did poorly on exams and despite not reading the chapter would blame the professor for not knowing the material. Funny enough, they often performed poorly in their other classes as well and ended up dropping out. 10/10 would take again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 4432 - Hey friend, this class will be challenging, but so worth it. First off, Dr. Parizi is a kind-hearted woman who is assertive; some people still aren’t used to assertive women so they see this as a negative characteristic, but it is not! Dr. Parizi will take no sh!t and she will be clear with you about what she expects, so be thankful and use this to your advantage. She makes herself more available for office hours and questions than any other professor I have ever had. On top of this her teaching assistants have office hours as well. USE these tools and ask questions, and allow yourself to become fascinated with the content! It is no secret that this class is extremely demanding, so here is my advice to you: (1) take this class with a lighter course load if you can because you will be studying hours weekly; (2) come prepared to engage in class and having already reviewed lecture content; (3) have a growth mindset and intend to conquer the content; (4) have a basic anatomy course under your belt before this course; and (5) believe in yourself. Dr. Parizi wants you to succeed, but ultimately this is up to you, and receiving an A will be difficult. A grade doesn’t define you, but you will be defined by your work ethic and how you approach this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 1305 - Dr. Parizi is by far the best Bio 1305 teacher! She does not have homework or quizzes, but fun quizzes at the end of the lecture that does not count for your grade. There is 4 exams, the lowest will be dropped and then a required final. On all exams she is not out to get you, she only does high yield topics. The best way to prepare for this course is to read before class, do the practice test after completing a chapter, and I personally just went to SI office hours which was like one on one tutoring. Which I do recommend but is not needed if you completed Bio AP. Overall, Parizi is the best for BIO 1305, she is super nice, and be ready to answer her questions during lecture.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 4432 - you CAN succeed in this course. I understand why people call it the most difficult course at Baylor, becuase it reality it is an insane amount of work. But in my opinion, it is so worth it because it is going to set you up extremely well in the future. Dr. Parizi is really the most amazing professor I have met so far. She really is so caring and wants you to succeed, if you make the point to meet with her and ask questions, she will help you in any way. That being said, you NEED to stay up to date with EVERYTHING. All of her videos, the announcements he sends with extra info, the lecture slides, flipped lecture slides, ALL OF IT!!! Utilize the LA's and their office hours, they can explain things in a different way than Parizi and it can truly help. You will study A LOT for this class but it is worth it. The final is very difficult though and it did drop me from my A to a B, because there are no B+ or -. You are capable of suceeding!!!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIO 1305 - Although Dr. Parizi is a very sweet woman and is extremely intelligent she is an extremely difficult teacher, especially for freshmen. She is normally an upperclassman teacher and it definitely shows. She expected our class to have a background in everything she taught already even though this was freshman Bio, where we are supposed to be learning all these things. She does not understand how someone could be struggling in her class. She offers no study guides, homework, or quizzes so your grade is based 100% on the exams. The exams are extremely difficult and you have no idea what is going to be on them beforehand so she could literally throw anything in there, and she does. By the time my class had gotten to the final more than half the original class had dropped the course. I had a friend who had taken her previously and she said that only about 1/3 of the original class that had started the semester passed the class after the final. She is very sweet and did enjoy teaching freshmen but she is beyond an extremely difficult teacher.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:BIO 3110 - Dr. Parizi is beyond words. She is one of those teachers that takes her class way too seriously however she does give you any help or support. She put out numerous announcements about people missing classes - even if you had missed a flight she wanted you in class. She is unreasonable to expect 100% attendance for a class that we took voluntarily. We volunteered to be LA's and this class came with that responsibility. She honestly treats her students like toddlers and polices us at every opportunity. She does not understand that this is a 1 credit class and takes it way too seriously. There are weekly quizzes, weekly reflections, and 3 big reflection papers. She does not give much late credit and she holds it against you if you turn things in late. For example, I turned in 2 weekly reflections late and though I turned them both in only an hour after, she gave me less points on the second one. She's on a power trip and wants to control her students like we're children. My advice(if you have to take her) would be to set multiple reminders and turn in everything on time/early. Anyway, good luck if you're going to take her :/  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-12-09

Comments:BIO 3110 - This is one of the worst professors at Baylor. She is one of the rudest persons you can ever meet. In my opinion, she has an inferiority complex, and with that, she is rude on emails, in-person, and every interaction. This is a one-credit course. It should remain like that. The workload can feel like two-credit hours. Parizi is never available for an in-person meeting and attacks her students. Privacy is never a thing with this professor, if you are going through anything. So do not tell her anything.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-11-13

Comments:BIO 3110 - The Biology Pedagogy class is an easy A, but to be in the class you have to be a learning assistant for a professor so you already have to have done well in that person's class. Each week you have to read (skim) two articles for a two question quiz at the beginning of each class. Then you have discussion time where you need to talk for participation credit. Finally there are three reflections about being a learning assistant with different prompts throughout the semester. Finally the final is a group repesentation with your other LAs for the class on how you would change the syllabus for next semester. Dr. Parizi makes the class very easy to get an A in, but it should be that way since its just a 1 hour class. You don't have to put a lot of time in the class as well. My assessment is that if a professor asks you to be an LA your probably a good enough student to get an A in the class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 4432 - Let me start this off by saying that I got an account just to post this rating. This will be helpful, so please read. First off, I want to start off by saying that I was a sophomore in this course (junior by credits) and don't really know why I decided to take this course so early. I placed out of a lot of the intro bio classes and took Genetics, Cell and Molecular Bio early on, but this class is a different beast. Do not do the same thing I did, as you will regret this pretty early on. Do not take this class if you are in some other difficult science courses, as I can guarantee you this class will be 90% of your semester focus. Parizi is an amazing professor and I am sure if you use her office hours, she'll be really helpful. I didn't utilize Parizi as much as I utilized the LA's. Even though this class is probably one of the hardest at Baylor, Parizi does truly set you up to succeed. There are so many resources to help you succeed such as Complete Anatomy and Aclands, both of which you need to keep up with as she takes questions and images straight from here on exams and practicals. I would not mess up on CTs and radiographs as they are some of the easiest questions. I would highly recommend that you stay ahead of her if you can. She goes really fast and Anatomy is a very difficult subject. You may feel as if the first couple of quizzes are easy, but after this, it gets very difficult to keep up with all the material, so refresh often and quiz yourself along with getting help from Parizi, the LA's, or other people in your class. I did pass this course, but I also want to say that I had a 3.95 GPA before taking this course. I sincerely think this course will set you up for success and help you learn a lot, but if you are serious about your GPA, I would find another course to take. My health suffered a lot from this course trying to get a good grade and I feel like I developed anxiety because of how difficult this course was but nevertheless, I can definitely say I learned some pretty valuable skills, such as learning how to study for difficult courses and staying up to date with material.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:BIO4432 - This post will be kinda long, but I'm gonna add stuff about tips for success in anatomy. I've heard that this was one of the most challenging courses taught at Baylor, and it definitely is, at least the hardest one I've taken this far. Hold on, let me backtrack a bit, I wouldn't say that this course is necessarily hard, its just very dense and fast-paced. The material isn't inherently difficult, its just a lot of memorization, which requires lots of studying. That being said, 100% download and use Anki!!! This program is definitely the only reason I did so well in her class and if you don't know what Anki is, definitely look it up and invest your time into making the cards and studying every single day. Like I mean it, Anki is the key to an A in this class - I wouldn't consider myself smart but I did well because of it. Anyways, onto Parizi. I think that Parizi is one of the sweetest profs at Baylor as she clearly cares about her students by getting to know every one of us by name and gives us a butt ton of resources for our success (more on that later). She is very friendly, approachable, and actually kinda funny at times. I never went to her office hours, but I've heard that she is especially helpful for those that come to office hours / if you are struggling. I think that she gets a bad rep bc people lash out on her because they aren't doing too hot in her class. Honestly tho, she gives you all of the information and it is up to you to shovel it into your brain. I feel like if you're complaining about her or the class itself, chances are its actually on you (sorry). Homework is pretty easy, taken verbatim from powerpoints. Exams are usually a mixture of clinical questions, identifying images, and examining xrays, CT's, etc. To do well on exams, in addition to Anki, be sure to take notes on all the videos she posts online, as well as notes from the videos that she mentions in the powerpoint. My top recommended resources are the Noted Anatomist, Complete Anatomy, and at times Aclands (especially for their quizzes). Be sure to really understand the material backwards and forwards as she typically will mention (along with lots of clinical fluff) only one clue in the question for you to come up with the right answer. Oh yeah, and quizzes and practicals are typically fill in the blank, with spelling counting. Quizzes were weekly, and went over the material that covered the week prior and weren't terrible, just be sure to stay on top of things (by that I mean ahead of her lectures) and watch your spelling. Although a lot of my youth deteriorated from the stress from this class I think it is one of the most rewarding / helpful courses you're gonna take if you're looking to go into the health field in the future. There have been plenty of current medical students writing back to Parizi talking about how the stuff they're doing in MS1 is identical to her class. Personally, I've been impressing the physicians I shadow and it feels really good to finally be answering clinical questions and feeling like a physician to some degree. 100% take this class if you want to pursue medicine, you won't regret it ! (even if you don't do too well).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Parizi is the sweetest lady!! While her class is definitely not easy and your grade is solely derived from your exam scores, her teaching style is absolutely fantastic: she is constantly asking questions, getting to know her students, and poses lots of clicker questions in class that are helpful for learning small details that are important for applications on exam questions. On top of that, she invited all of her students to her house for thanksgiving (I went since I was not able to go home over break lol) and it was great!! 10/10 recommend taking her class if you're prehealth  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - When reading BU Books reviews a lot of people have said that Dr. Parizi is really hard and not the best teacher, but that really isn't the case. The only grades she took in the class were her 4 tests and final which stressed me out. Her tests were definitely not easy. She does try to trick you, SO READ THE TEST QUESTIONS VERY CAREFULLY. But she tests you straight from her lecture powerpoint and textbook. I also really liked her lecture style. She has a good sense of humor, wears very fun outfits, and is a fitness queen. She is always walking up and down the lecture hall and calls on random people at random times to keep everyone on their toes and engaged. I personally liked this because it kept me awake during lecture. I will say she does pick favorites, but she doesn't treat anyone badly. Overall, I would recommend taking her because she makes this somewhat basic material fun and entertaining. She really cares about her students, she even invited all of us to her house for Thanksgiving if we were staying home for break. All you have to do is really know your textbook stuff and pay close attention to the wording of test questions!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - When I read her ratings on this site, I got mixed reviews, but this is what I can say about my time with her. Dr. Parizi's class is not easy; you need to read the textbook before the lecture and there are only tests for her grade. That may sound scary except it really isn't. Stay on top of your work and it should be smooth sailing, it'll be a big problem if you get behind. She is amazing at lecturing and she's quite clear on what material should be ignored and material that should definitely be reviewed. Overall she is an amazing professor and I would take her class again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - This class is very challenging but I enjoyed taking it because I learned a lot. She definitely prepared me well for 1306. Her tests are conceptual so simply memorizing notes and facts isn't going to help you. She's a great professor and actually wants to get to know you personally.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Last semester was Dr. Parizi’s first time in a while teaching 1305, and I don’t know if she will ever teach intro bio again, but I think this can help give an idea about how she teaches whether you take intro bio from her or her anatomy class. Anyways, Dr. Parizi does a great job teaching the concepts, but she does expect a lot out of you. Her tests will be hard and will require you to really know how to apply the concepts. However, I think taking Dr. Parizi can really benefit students in the long run. Having her for 1305 really challenged me and made me work harder. College (especially premed) isn’t a walk in the park, and it’s supposed to be challenging. Taking Dr. Parizi will prepare you for the challenges of college classes in the future, or medical school if you take her anatomy class  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3425 - I am writing this as an alum after completing my first semester at a professional program. If you are planning to go to medical/dental/pharmacy/optometry/PT/OT/PA school, you should ABSOLUTELY take this class. I barely got a B, but I killed my grad school-level anatomy course this past semester. This course is hard but professional programs are no joke. Not only will you 100% run into another course that is this difficult, you will likely be taking numerous other high level science courses alongside it. Taking this right before going to my prof. program gave me such a huge advantage. This course specifically will most likely hurt your GPA, unless you are able to dedicate 90% of your studying time towards it. I would either take this the second semester of your senior year, or take it without any other difficult science courses (if you can help it). You will learn so much from this class/lab, it really is such a huge benefit no matter what you decide to do.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2019-12-13

Comments:3425 - Do not be scared of this class. Especially if you are going to medical school it will give you an advantage. Quit going through college looking for the teachers that dish out an A's like its nothing. Yes you have to work for your grade but you learn a whole lot and Dr. Parizi is an amazing person who does not make you feel bad for asking questions or not knowing information when she calls on you. Take this class and challenge yourself. You will be surprised at what you can do.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3425 - Dr. Parizi is without a doubt one of the sweetest professors ever. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and if sarcasm blows right over you, you might get offended which is where I think people say she's "mean". She's ALWAYS available in her office. Tests are hard, practicals are a JOKE they are so hard. She doens't really curve or offer extra credit so your grade is your grade, however, there are 15 quizzes total which can really boost your grade, and by the end of the semester she was giving us 100's for the quizzes in lieu of participating and asking questions in class. She really does want you to learn and truly LOVES teaching. I'd recommend her!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2019-05-04

Comments:3425 - Dr. Parizi is the best. People complain all the time about how she's so mean and her tests are impossible, but that's not true. If you study, read before class, and go and ask questions not only will you do well, but you will also have a professor that cares about you and wants you to succeed. Is it a lot of work? Yes. Are you planning to go to med school? More than likely. So get used to the work and quit complaining.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:General H. Anatomy - Dr. Parizi is a very interested in anatomy and is a wonderful professor. She will learn you name very quickly and goes to all the labs. I found this to be the most engaging class at baylor. It is, however, VERY time consuming. But taking this class or not depends on your capacity for self discipline. If you know that you are a hard worker who will put in the hours each week to keep up with the course, then you should not have a problem landing a B. Honestly, I could have gotten an A if I just studied a little more thoroughly. It is NOT HARD/COMPLEX information. it is a matter of memorization. If you can get through each relevant powerpoint about 3 (or more) times before the test-- you will do well. Really learn EVERYTHING you can from the powerpoint slides (ESPECIALLY WHAT IS IN RED) because these seemingly "insignificant" facts will show up on the tests and its easy to overlook when preparing. I believe most of the points I lost on tests were from little things I failed to memorize from powerpoint slides. Overall -- not hard material, just a very intensive course that demands your time. I would absolutely not recommend taking this class with another hard science course. One of the two will suffer.( Pre-meds: save this one for your senior year.) Good Luck.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-12-05

Comments:BIO 3422 - This class is incredibly tough and intense, but if you're taking it you're probably going into some sort of professional school so it really prepares you for that. Dr. Parizi can be intimidating, but she is one of the kindest, sweetest, toughest professors out there. She wants you to succeed. This class is super hard, but do-able if you put in all of your effort.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3425 - I made an account on here just to put in a rating for Dr. Parizi. Opposed to what many say of her, she is a wonderful and kind person. Yes she is intense and her class is the hardest I've taken at Baylor, but if you take the time to get to know her she will work with you and only wants the best for you. She was very understanding when I had some difficulties mid-semester, and after doing poorer than I had hoped on the final, she bumped my grade because she knew how hard I had worked in her class. I only had 12 hours this semester and struggled to keep up with the workload, it will definitely take a lot of time and mental strength but it is possible and will prepare you well for med/grad school.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Human Anatomy - If you are a masochist with a photographic memory, look no further!! This class is for YOU. If this does not apply to you, make sure your therapist is on speed dial because this class will likely cause you to have a psychotic break and/ or to become so stressed that you drop 50 pounds and have a full head of grey hair by the end of the semester! For the love of God, yourself, and your family, do not take this class. The tests cover 500+ PowerPoint slides each, and the lab practicals are so unrealistic that you will not believe it until you experience it. Dr. Parizi makes Donald Trump look sane.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:Human Anatomy - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. LITERALLY SAVE YOURSELF. If you do not want to give up your entire life + sleep, absolutely do not take this class. I have never experienced a more unreasonable and unrealistic class. I think it is probably much harder than anything you will ever do in medical school, assuming anyone in medical school has a gracious bone in their body. Dr. Parizi is the absolute worst. She doesn\'t give a crap about you or if you fail her class. I have only made 4 Bs in college, am a Biology major, and have a 3.85 GPA, but... She will literally fail you. God bless.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Anatomy - If you are going to take this, make sure youre not taking any other hard classes and have enough discipline to dedicate hours EVERY night to study for this class. I've never had a class with so much dense material and memorization required and it is extremely fast paced. Quizzes count as two test grades so don't blow those off. She is an excellent prof but this class is ridiculously hard.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:3425 - Do not take her for anatomy!!! I'm surprised no one has reviewed this course yet. If you are seriously considering medical school or have the time to dedicate to this one class than by all means do it. Not only is the class over so much material, it is also incredibly fast paced. She does not curve whatsoever and the current average in the class is a 65. I wish someone told me how difficult this class would be. Chordate Anatomy is your best bet. Don't be fooled by the long waitlist for this class. Stay away!  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1301 - She is an excellent teacher; her tests are harder than Honors. Don't take her if you're not ready to study. However, she is good to take for a pre-med because it is good preparation. Don't expect to get an A; I was one of the 10 that did, in a class of 120.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Parizi taught well and I felt like I gained a lot of knowledge from this class. I studied a lot for this class by taking really good notes in the book AND in class. Most of my study time was devoted towards this class, and I even struggled on some two of her tests, but she dropped one. The test averages were always around 70 with about 10-15 people with A's on the test (out of 100 people). Tests were very hard as they were "application" questions, meaning you have to know how to apply the concepts that you learn. This a very difficult class compared to other classes, but if you do make it out with an A, I think you will feel like you gained a lot out of the class. There is also mastering biology (online homework) every class that isn't very hard at all. She engages the class more than any other of my teachers. When it comes to the learning, you read and learn a lot, but getting the grade will be a challenge. Take if you want.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - As a teacher she is somewhat lack luster, though she let me sleep right in front of her in the front row. I even ate breakfast right in front of a her a few times! So, she's pretty lax on what you do in class. She does play favorites a bit though, generally by calling on people she KNOWS are smart just so they can introduce more topics so she can explain them. She really DOES want you to know your stuff, but she does expect a lot more out of the average Bio 1 student then probably most professors. The thing I didn't like most about the class was that it seemed that she was EXTREMELY Mastering Biology reliant. I don't see why, since her powerpoint lectures were actually pretty damn good (considering the material). Her tests did seem a bit rough though...even for a nerd like me. So expect to be studying a lot if you don't know the material by heart, or at least ONE GOOD study session the day before your test.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - She's a really nice person, but as a teacher I didn't like her. I thought her tests weren't an accurate measurement of what we learned in class and from the textbook. She also doesn't curve grades despite the low class average. During class she would state that we should know something certain because it'd be on the exam, but most of the time I found it wasn't. She likes for you to know the experiments from the texts. Going to review your tests helps a lot. Once you understand what types of questions she will ask, it makes the class a lot easy. She also uses questions from MasterBiology quizzes and practice tests, as well as the questions on the last page of the chapters. Reading the texts before class is vital because she'll go off on tangents and say she must "finish the thought, even though you won't be learning that until your junior/senior year." Also, during some units she frequently second guessed herself, which caused confusion. If you've taken AP Biology before, I'd say you could manage a better grade than I did in the class, if not, I'd choose someone else.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1305 - Parizi is a VERY nice woman; however, she isn't a very good teacher. You basically teach yourself everything needed for the tests. She doesn't like to curve, and she considers a C to be a good grade. I don't know who I would choose as a teacher over her, but I wouldn't recommend her if there was another option.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Dr. Parizi is NOT a teacher. She is a very nice lady but Mastering Biology and the Text book taught me the things I needed to know for her tests. There are 4 exam and a final and there are quizzes on Mastering Biology.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1305 - I really didn't know what to expect from her until the last unit, because I think that's when she finally got the hang of teaching. It helps to take notes from the book before the lecture, so that during the lecture you can add on the things she says are important. Bio is supposed to be hard, but she's very thorough in explaining the material if you put in the effort. She elaborates using several video sources, and that helps a lot. Go to her office hours to look over tests and ask questions there. She'll be more than happy to answer and appreciates your effort for your grade. However, I hated how she'd randomly ask people questions. She'll literally ask a question and randomly pick someone to answer it. Yes, she did memorize everyone's name within a month. So that's intimidating...like a said before, READ beforehand. If she sees you shuffling through your notes, she'll appreciate the effort. Overall not bad. I just think biology is a difficult course.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Parizi is a nice woman, but definitely more of a researcher than a teacher. You start class off with drawing and then go to the powerpoint (that follows the book exactly). There will be questions in the powerpoint that she comes up with, but most of the time she won't say the answer, only 'yes' to the class's random answers... confusing. Mastering Bio is due every two to three days but they're not too bad and there's extra credit. The tests are ALL application and very tricky. Review Mastering Bio before the exam and that's about 25% of it. If she repeats something in lecture, star it! It WILL be on the test. There are quizzes, 4 exams, and a final. She'll drop one exam. I wouldn't recommend her, but she's fine if you have to take her.  - Grade In Class:C
