Comments:BIC 1323 - Dr. Perry is AMAZING! I had him for both Rhetoric I and II and he was great for both. He engages with students and gets to know them as long as you participate in class and do the readings (which really aren't difficult). He is also quite a lenient grader and is extremely understanding of different life circumstances. I would highly recommend Dr. Perry to anyone for any BIC class, whether it be rhetoric, social world, or a capstone course!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Rhetoric 1&2 - Hands down my favorite professor I have ever had. He truly knows what he is talking about, and has a positive and fun attitude to the world of rhetoric. I suggest anyone with the availability in their schedule to sign up for his class, as it definitely has weight over how I think and communicate 3 years later.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1323 - I could not stand him for another day. I had to drop his class. He is opinionated and only his holy opinion matters. Honestly I could not understand his humor at all.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1323 - Dr. Perry clearly knows what he's talking about. He's a very intelligent man and at times during class, I would space out because he would say things that we all did not understand. He's a funny guy, but if you are a Conservative, DO NOT take his class. The BIC is generally left-leaning and Dr. Perry is no exception to this. Most of the class is driven towards topics that are more liberal like minorities and climate change, and Dr. Perry will make subtle attacks on Conservatives. You are forced to write about these things, even if you do not agree with them at all. If you are Liberal, you will enjoy this class. If not, you will struggle to fit in and you will feel left out. I did learn a lot from Dr. Perry, but I simply did not enjoy the class at all.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC 4389 - Dr. Perry is a brilliant thinker and writer. He embodies the values of a BIC education, and (as a BIC grad himself) equips students to pursue Education beyond Baylor. Dr. Perry does not expect brilliance, but rewards students who are intellectually and emotionally honest in their communication. It was truly a blessing to be part of this capstone.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Rhetoric 1 & 2 - Dr. Perry isn't the easiest grader but taking him is so worth it. He makes his class so purposeful and interesting. Also, he's a genuinely good person who really invests into his students. He's probably my favorite professor at Baylor and should have an A+ rating!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:WC IV - Dr. Perry is very opinionated and if you don't agree with him on everything it's going to be a rough semester. He is very forceful and wants to be the smartest person in the room. He will state his opinions as facts, no matter how subjective they are, and will shove them down your throat. He's a terrific scholar, but he's a tough grader and I did not enjoy his class.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:BIC 2330 - I appreciate how Dr. Perry gives a fluid, comprehensive, and informed lecture on the subject matter. In particular he is able to take complex information from the readings, explain them in a way I can practically understand, then also ground his topics in real life situations. His sense of humor goes well with his talks, and he answers questions very well. Despite an attitude of pessimism/cynicism he sometimes exudes, his classes are lively and he stimulates discussion (which considering the environment of our class is impressive given that the class as a whole was not very talkative. I sometimes wish for more engaging classmates). --Ben P. (I do not believe in completely anonymous criticism).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC 1413 - Rhetoric I- Perry is a pretty awesome professor. He's really funny and his small group discussions are really interesting and he actually makes the stuff you read make sense. Seriously, I could not tell you what I understood from the actual reading of the books, but from the discussion it was much better. Plus, Perry does a great job of covering awkward silences. He's really smart and he's a rhetorician so he will grade you on things like that in your speeches and essays. He focuses more on content I believe for essays (but yes he does grade a bit hard; only once did I get an assignment above a 89) and will grade your speeches on how you say things, I believe (although it seemed at the time like everyone either got a 92 or a 89 or these two same grades it was weird... I'm not sure if we all consistently did the same or he was just feeling lazy that time). He is really chill and was a previous BIC student. He is sarcastic so if you don't like that kind of attitude, maybe you should pick another teacher. He is also the kind of teacher you can joke with so that's nice (even I did and I'm not sure that I ever said anything in his class or to his face besides my speeches). You definitely should take him if you can!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Rhetoric I - Perry is a great scholar, which is why I signed up for his class. However, I do not like his teaching and grading style. When it coems to teaching, I believe the teacher should help you dissect the material and draw broader conclusions and implications from it. Perry, in my opinion, skips the former and jumps straight to the latter. So, you must understand the material on your own. He does not help you digest the material. I was often confused by the amount of terms he threw out, and it seemed like he used them solely for the sake of being intelligent. My biggest concern is with his grading style. It is entirely too subjective. In the speeches, he grades for tone. However, tone is never mentioned in the class, how are we to know what tone is appropriate? Again, Perry assumes we have knowledge when some of us don't. I don't think it is fair that we are graded on tone when it is never mentioned in class. Also, Perry grades based on how much he likes your argument. It seems that he and I do not see eye to eye. I once made an argument that he particularly disliked. He called it inappropriate (not in a dirty sense). However, this argument, while perhaps a little radical, is commonly made by a good amount of organizations and peoples in the world. I interpret his actions as biased. In conclusion, I do not like the subjectivity of Dr. Perry, and unless you do not need any help understanding and digesting the readings, I advise against his course.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Rhetoric I & 2 - I don't understand how this man has a 78 here. He is my favorite professor at this university. He is incredible and hilarious. He's got a great teaching ability and way of connecting with the students. First semester I had him from the 3:30-4:45 slot on TR and the fact that it was him teaching was the only thing that kept me going. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO NOT HATE RHETORIC. He's not a particularly rough grader either. I had a great time taking his class both semesters and wish he still taught World IV so I could take his class again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Rhetoric I & 2 - Dr. Perry is one of the best professors I have ever had at Baylor. He will challenge the way you think and he will push you to do your best. He will call you out on your BS if he knows you can do better but that is what you should expect in an Honors course and from your professors. He is a fair grader and a very laid back professor. Take him if you can  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC 2344 - World Cultures IV - Dr. Perry teaches history the RIGHT way. He does not follow a string of dates or an anthology of biographies. He does not insist that students memorize useless bits of data. He tells STORIES. Perry's philosophy is that history is only important based on the narratives that reflect our perspective of its events. He handles nuanced issues such as slavery, state power, women's rights, the war on terror, and more with two key traits: even-handedness and a keen rhetorical eye. Witty, cynical, engaging, and extremely-perceptive, Perry marks the best approach that students can take to understanding the history of culture and the world. I wish that every BIC professor could take cultures from HIM.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:RhetoricII - Glad the Rhetoric is over and I don't have to take him AGAIN at Baylor. He should be fired.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Rhetoric I - Dr. Perry is the COOLEST professor I have ever taken. He is an inspirational teacher who runs a fun relaxed class. Discussions are very open and fun. He creates a class dynamic where you are more than comfortable talking. He is a honest grader, so you can't be illiterate. He has high standards for all of his students and as long as you try, he will provide you with a rewarding grade. TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE! He will literally change your life for the better and inspire you to work hard, but teach you how to be super efficient and practical.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Rhetoric - Cool guy, and makes the class as good as it can probably be. There's a lot of work, even if there's not a ton of writing. I think some people didn't like him as much because he's not conservative like their parents or highschool teachers or something.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Rhetoric II - He behaves like a big shot with a big ego. I don't like the way he argues.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Rhetoric I & II - Dr. Perry is an excellent professor. Class discussions are always entertaining and you learn a ton in his class. Make sure to proofread because if you do not, he will know and call you out. Overall, he is one of the best professors I have had thus far. Take him if you can!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2344 - WC4 - To be honest, I'm guessing on my grade as I haven't finished the class yet. Dr. Perry is one of the three or four most fabulous professors I've had at Baylor in the last 4 semesters. The man is hilarious, knowledgable, and passionate. He is also 100% open to and capable of debating in his class. I had what might be an obscene amount of fun arguing with him over the Civil War, and learned a lot in the process. He's a fair grader, but you'll want to proofread your papers - Like anyone who has a background in writing, grammar, and English, he doesn't like it if you're paper's got stupid errors in syntax, grammar, etc.  - Grade In Class:B
