Comments:1315 - very nice lady, just sucks at teaching this subject, always avaliable in office hours and got a week to do homeework, she just isnt good at teaching patterns  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1322 - I'll start of by saying that I am not a math person at all. I know most of the professors in this department kind of suck, so I've been trying to avoid them, and I urge you too as well if you can (aka take classes over the summer). Anyways, Professor Nam isn't the worst teacher. In class, I get pretty confused. She's kind of all over the place. She does provide a loooot of resources and is always available for office hours. But I guess I didn't realize it was a flipped classroom, and I would rather have a teacher teach the material in class and let students ask questions as we're learning. I don't know, I just hate math. Take this review however you want  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1321 - I am legitimately floored at how many positive ratings I have seen. The language barrier isn't even the problem. Regardless of any language barrier that might exist (which you can get over) she is unable to teach, often rambles about topics completely unrelated to the subject, and is unable to clearly explain concepts. Hope you like watching Khan Academy. In regards to office hours, does she have them? Yes. Is she helpful in them? Far from it. If you go to her office hours, expect to be berated, maybe even yelled at, and god forbid you did poorly on the test. Bottom line, if you work at the class and at understanding material, you'll do fine, because it's Calc 1 (or 2), but you'll have a bad time. I do not recommend Dr. Nam.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1321 - Dr. Nam is the professor for calculus. The class covers the basic principles of calc. She has 3 exams and one of them can be replaced by the final. She has some substantial homework but if you get an A on an exam you are exempt from it for the rest of the semester. She has an unbelievable amount of resources available, such as previous year exams/finals and textbook questions, all of these will full keys that show all the work so you can see how to do the types of problems. Her exams are very fair and only teach on the things she goes over in class. She is always available for office ours and is very eager to help you succeed. She is a must take.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1322 - Dr. Nam will help you and will help you help her help you. Calculus 2 is not simple, but Dr. Nam will prepare you. Preparing for class consisted of watching a few 10-minute videos of her teaching the material and doing a few basic problems. In class, we do some more complex problems and answer any questions. The test would work out 5-6 problems accurately representing the subject matter we studied. Homework was substantial, but only for a bit. If you got an A on a test, you would be exempt from homework for the rest of the semester. Just grind out the videos on double speed, writing out her work, and you will have a happy class, semester, and life.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1322 - It is hard to fail this class with how much study material she gives out. She can be a little hard to understand at times but she is also one of the only professors I've seen get so excited about calculus. She is really invested in every student's success, so take advantage of it. If you want to get an A, you're going to have to watch all the videos she posts. Class time is used to practice what she taught in the videos.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Calc 1 & 2 - I had Dr.Nam for both Calc 1 and Calc 2. She is very helpful when you go to her office hours. Watch the videos before going to class and it is so easy to understand what she is saying. The material is not that bad at all. The final is easier than her exams. She offers a lot of extra credit and if you put in the effort, you will earn an A. She is one of my favorite professors. Very nice too.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1322 - Just to put it bluntly: calculus is easy. Now starting off with Dr. Nam’s teaching ability, she’s actually not as bad as what people were telling me. She does a flipped classroom where she posts videos to watch before coming to lecture. During the lectures she would do practice problems with us without explaining much. I found her in class lectures to be a bit chaotic, but she was extremely helpful in office hours. She also has regular office hours for all 5 days of the week which is convenient. I did not pay attention during the in class lectures and I did not watch a single video. Instead, I read the textbook and went to her office hours to clear up some things and my exam average is currently a 97.25. Her exams are fair and styled like a shortened version of the final. She also gives a lot of extra credit which really helps if you’re getting high Bs on the exams because it’s enough to bump it up to an A. Once again, calculus is not difficult and her exams are not intense.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Pre Cal 1320 - The BEST professor! So easy to follow her lectures and her office hours are so helpful. She makes pre-cal funny! TAKE HER!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1320 - Professor Nam is AMAZING! She answers all your questions in class and is always at her office hours! Her tests look just like problems we've done before, so master them with her and take advantage of her flexibility!! She's made me feel so confident with my math skills. The online weekly homework also shows you the answers if you need help.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:cal1 cal2 - TAKE DR.Nam. She is the sweetest and her exams her straightforward from the review sheet. She is so helpful in office hours. I went to her office hours almost every day and she was so helpful and friendly. If you want to learn take Dr.Nam! : )  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-12-05

Comments:MTH 1321 - Ms. Nam is a wonderful person, but the way she teaches will hit you like a truck if you're not prepared. She doesn't introduce new or advanced concepts in class - instead, she expects you to watch videos online which are slow-paced, hard to understand, and include many instances where she second-guesses her work during the video, making it hard to follow. Her exams are deceptively difficult and are not representative of material covered in class. If you take this class, use all of the resources available to you - SI, office hours, tutoring, etc. and be prepared to teach yourself most of the material. She is much more helpful one-on-one in her office hours, so use those to your full advantage. If you have her, good luck.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-11-22

Comments:1320 - She doesn't speak English very well so it is hard to understand her when she is teaching. She also talks too fast it is hard to keep up. Everyone would just sit there confused the whole hour. I would go to her office hours and she would get questions wrong on the homework or not even realize she put a question like that. Almost every week she was shocked by what was on the homework and told us we would never need to know that yet still had to complete the homework. Take your math credits outside of Baylor. She is a wonderful person but should not be teaching.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-11-15

Comments:1322 - Dr. Nam is such a sweet professor and I'm sad she has a low rating. She provides SO much information to study for the test and clearly puts in a lot of work to help students succeed. If you do most of the practice problems and the homework, you'll have no problem getting an A on exams and in the class. She is very helpful on homework assignments and will walk you through problems.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-11-09

Comments:1321 - Dr. Nam is a super nice professor and you can tell she genuinely wants you to succeed. Unfortunately, her tests are very extremely difficult and she also goes over things very fast in class so it is hard to keep up.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Date: 2021-06-25

Comments:1322 - Really nice lady with lots of office hours and is super willing to help. You were expected to watch and 1 hr lecture before you came to class, which can be very time consuming. Ended up teaching myself most of the content. Tests are easy and she posts practice exams. Also a difficult accent to understand at first if you're bothered by things like that.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-04-19

Comments:1320 - Professor Nam is not very good at explaining her content, so if you struggle in math she is not the professor you want to take. Her accent is kind of hard to understand. She was very condescending when I asked for help, which makes you not want to ask questions in her class. She definitely has favorites in her class and it is quite clear to see.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2020-11-17

Comments:1321 - Dr. Nam is really friendly and genuinely wants to help you. She gave me extra credit (!!) for going to office hours and at one point in the semester she gave extra credit for showing up to class. That being said, if you didn't do well in AP Calc in high school, or if you're not that great at math (like me haha), I would strongly recommend that you NOT sign up for her classes. Dr. Nam lectures and proceeds under the impression that her students have a proficient understanding of precalculus and have a solid understanding of calc. Lectures would have me extremely lost, I'd be constantly going to office hours, and I would study for hours before and after class because I would have to basically reteach myself the material in a way I could understand it. It was difficult because I couldn't make up for my super basic understanding of calc. Yes, she has an accent, but she is honestly not that hard to understand. She also assigns in-class quizzes, but you're allowed to discuss the questions with people sitting near you. She does post tests from previous years with solutions that you can use to practice and are pretty similar to the actual test. If you get a 90 or above on her tests, you don't have to do the HW. The final is written by the department, but she does her best to prep you for it. She has a mini-test near the end of the semester for a chance to bump up your grade before the final. Calculus is hard no matter the professor, but Dr. Nam goes very fast and you'll be expected to keep up. Just know what you're getting yourself into.  - Grade In Class:F

Date: 2020-06-05

Comments:1322 - Dr. Nam is the one of the most kind, generous, and intelligent professors I have ever had. Firstly, she offers a lot of extra credit for her exams which not a lot of other professors do. She's been so helpful and kind during the pandemic, and she gave us extra credit points for attending her WebEx OPTIONAL meetings. Not only that, Dr. Nam really bends backwards for her students. She posts all the HW keys and the previous semester's exams, which HELPED GREATLY. You have all of the answers in front of you for guidance, and her lecture notes are extremely helpful so that you don't have to read the confusing textbook. Yes her tests are hard, but all math tests are hard so that's not an excuse. I know a couple students who made A's on all her tests and the final, which proves that they are doable provided you put in the work. CALC II is a beast and you won't slide by with an easy A no matter which prof you take. Dr Nam is a great, commendable professor who helps students way more than she needs to, and that deserves an applause. Great professor, take her!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-14

Comments:1322 - I think that Dr. Nam is a very nice lady, and she really does want to help her students, but she is not very good at it at all. She offers lots of office hours, and often gives extra credit on tests for going to office hours, which is helpful. On all the tests I was able to have buffer room simply because I went to office hours, or got onto a webex call in quarantine. I HIGHLY recommend taking full advantage of these extra credit opportunities because her tests are quite hard. I think her tests do a poor job of actually analyzing your actually comprehension of the material because she just tries to stump you with hard algebra and trig, which is frustrating with no calculator. Her lectures helped literally none, multiple times each class she'd be doing a problem, realize she made a mistake, and then instead of figuring out what she did wrong, start a new different problem. If you have to take her, it is possible to do well in the class, but you have to take advantage of the extra credit and completion homework, because the tests are very rough.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-13

Comments:1321 - She sucks at grading if you don't do math in her eyes as "correct" so good luck  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-05-09

Comments:1320 - Mrs. Nam is genuinely a kind person and tries her best to teach her students to the best of her ability. It can be very difficult to understand what she is saying and she sometimes does not understand the questions you ask her. The best way to go about her class is to attend all the classes, do the homework, TAKE HER PRACTICE EXAMS that she posts on Canvas, and go to the tutoring center with questions you are confused with. With enough effort, you can get an A!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-11-21

Comments:1321 - I took AP calculus in HS and this class still sucked majorly. I couldn’t understand anything that she was trying to say because her grammar is so bad and she can’t put her thoughts in to words. I finally stopped paying attention in class and relied on khan academy and that is when I started doing better because I wasn’t being confused by her teaching in class. Don’t take this professor if you expect to rely on the lectures or office hours to learn calculus.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Calc 2 - Also, she posts keys on all of the hmk at the beginning of the semester so as you work thru them you have a walked thru answer in front of you.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-05-13

Comments:MTH 1322 - Oh my! How these reviews are nothing like my experience in Mrs. Nam's class. Her material is definitely no harder than any other calc II professor. So that, should not be a consideration in choosing. I CAN tell you that she legit outlines what each section/type of question will be asked. She makes it 150% crystal clear what you do and do not need to know for each test which makes studying way more efficacious. Her tests are not any longer than any other professor. She gives approximately 12-15 quizzes and only captures 5, so you have a pretty damn good chance of getting a 100. Oh, and did I mention SHE WILL TELL YOU THE EXACT QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO KNOW. Homework is completion based which means you can easily get a 100 on that. She has 3 midterms. Midterm 1 - fairly easy if you did the homework and paid attention. IF you really did study the hmk and didnt wait until the night before to cram, you can easily make an A. Midterm 2 - Really, really easy. She tells you what each question wants you to know conceptually. If you studied the hmk and notes you will make an A. Midterm 3 - Harder, so be prepared. I still studied the night before and made an A though. Study about 4 days out. Study and do all the homework and know the ins and outs of each test used to prove/disprove convergence. Study the lecture notes and every example in them. Still a doable A. Mini Exam - A little harder, like Exam 3, but I did not study a whole bunch. If you study complex numbers ahead of time and and goto her offce hours to clear confusion, it is still a doable A. Final - Really, really easy. Each problem we have either been tested over or was on previous year's finals. If you will just NOT WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE and put in concentration in her class you can make an A. No calculus class will allow you to passively make As based on IQ. Personality wise - Mrs. Nam is the most caring professor I have ever had. She would give me food whenever I hadn't eaten and would ask me how I was doing. She is honestly just a really, really good person. Her accent is not unintelligible and if students are saying that as an excuse for bad grades, it seems a little racially motivated. She is very clear and precise with her language. She is also very, very smart and was able to answer all of my questions, even at times late at night over email. If you want an enjoyable professor who cares about your experience, take Nam.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-05-13

Comments:1320 - I had a lot of reservations about taking Professor Nam after seeing all her ratings. My advice would be, if you have no experience with PreCal or just suck at math, avoid her. Unless she is going over homework problems (which is very helpful!), her lectures are confusing and difficult to understand. Her accent CAN make understanding the material a bit more work but it isn't the main issue. I got by because I did really well in math in high school, and only took this class for credit. I would suggest after each lesson, go home and watch the exact same lesson via khan academy or something like that. The homework is not too bad and the quizzes are based off of the homework. For the exams, use the practice exams she provides on canvas! I did not figure this out until the end and they are very useful. Overall, Professor Nam is a sweet, understanding woman but she does not teach simple math concepts very well.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2019-05-03

Comments:1322 - Let me start by saying that Nam is not a good professor. She has trouble conveying her ideas and he accent doesn't help. However, at least in my opinion, she makes up for this by giving you so many chances to succeed. The homework is completion and she only takes your best quizzes. She also replaces your lowest test with the final. You can tell she really wants her students to succeed. The reality is that there are only 1 or 2 good math professors that teach lower level math classes so if you can't get one, Nam is your next best bet.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2019-04-25

Comments:1308 - I took Professor Nam for Business Pre-Calc. I am honestly confused why there are 5 star reviews on here. She is a horrible teacher for several reasons, and the many people I knew in there thought the same. The biggest problem is that her accent is so thick, I literally COULD NOT understand her. Second, she assigns homework before she teaches the lesson in class. While the homework is a completion grade, HOW can you complete homework you don't know how to do? I often wondered - why do I have to go to the math lab every day to learn what I pay $50,000 for HER to teach me? Third, her tests are on Monday's, and free tutoring services aren't open all weekend. Fourth, her tests and quizzes are INSANELY hard, like the hardest questions possible from each chapter.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2019-01-17

Comments:1321 - I really enjoyed this class and Dr. Nam is a really sweet and compassionate professor. She was always willing to help clarify challenging concepts and never judged any of us for not understanding something. If you have the grit and perseverance to keep on improving in your performance and utilize all resources that are given to you, taking Dr. Nam’s class will not be a challenge at all. This class will push you to think critically and yes, some of the exam questions were challenging, but if you did each and every one of the List Problems and practice exams that Dr. Nam posts on her Canvas page, you will know that all exam problems have been taught OR assigned as a homework/ practice problem before. Dr. Nam has reiterated many times throughout the semester that it’s essential to practice calculus at least 30 minutes every day and there are numerous resources (Office hours, Success Center Tutoring, etc.) that you may take advantage of in order to be successful in 1321. If you pay attention, take notes, and attend every class, you will be able to do well in her exams. Dr. Nam does have a slight accent, as stated previously in the other reviews, but her accent is completely comprehensible. Concepts are explained clearly and her teaching notes are very helpful in preparation for exams and the cumulative final.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-14

Comments:MTH 1308 - Where do I start with Dr. Nam... to say the least LISTEN TO THE REST OF THE REVIEWS AND AVOID TAKING NAM AT ALL COSTS. Class time was pointless because of the language barrier. No one knew what she was trying to get across. She gives homework assignments that are due at the end of every week and has open homework quizzes. Her tests were what made the class difficult because she words the problems like someone who can't speak English would. She'll also laugh in your face if you don't understand what she's trying to say. Overall there is a reason why her rating is a 47, to be completely honest it should be a lot lower. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2018-12-10

Comments:1320 - I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE COMPLAINT ABOUT HER. Her class is the easiest class in my life. Test is straight forward from learning material (if you do your homework), she is nice except for her accent. I'm honest, I got 160 at the end of the semester. I don't even know how. Just do homework, come to her office hour you will be fine. Trust be and take her. She is nice  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-05

Comments:MTH 1308 - The only reason I put that I have an A is because she curves and I haven't taken the final yet. Don't take Nam. Don't do it. I read these reviews and still took her and wish I had listened. I depended solely on the SI and myself to pass this class and I'm at the end of the semester and I've gained nothing but pure anxiety from this professor. She has yelled at kids in our class for not understanding so I just kept to myself and never asked any questions which is not what you want in your professor. The only plus side of the class is that she will make sure you pass it by curving but just save yourself the trouble of teaching yourself and trying to interpret what's she's saying in class.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-11-27

Comments:1308 - Horrible, awful, terrible, any negative adjective someone can associate with Dr. Nam is not giving their full effort to do well in her class. Her class, for sure, can be a challenge if you are not familiar w/ english speakers w/ accents. However, that should just motivate you to work even harder. Anybody can pass any class or do well in it if they dedicate themselves -- provided that they have the prescient knowledge on the topic that is required. The key to success in her class is, first, pay attention, second, ask for help -- whether that be in class or outside of class. Do not just do the minimal work required asked of you. Go to her office hours and ask for help. Dr. Nam is very helpful and one of the nicest professors I have encountered thus far.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-11-14

Comments:MTH 1308 - Look it says I got an A but that's because I got a 103% on the first exam and then I got an 80 and then a 72. If you want to pay to teach yourself I'd recommend taking this class. Have an extra $4,500 that you want to throw down the toilet? Take this class! In reality, Mrs. Nam is a nice lady but will insult you/the class if you don't understand a lesson or problem. Her accent causes a STRONG language barrier with the class that no one can overcome without receiving outside help through SI's and Khan Academy. Please take this advice and all the other ones don't have her as your teacher, I'm good at math but I've never been more lost than first learning algebra in 7th grade. Good luck if you already do have her. Hang in there.. you can do it.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-11-11

Comments:1308 - DO NOT TAKE HER. professor nam is the worst teacher in the whole university hands down. she doesnt put in the homework or quiz grades until the last day of the semester. she gives 4 tests that everyone fails. she struggles with english which makes the course even harder than it already is. incredibly hard tests and a very poor teacher. do not take this professor  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2018-11-04

Comments:1321 - Mrs. Nam's class isn't challenging. She has take home quizzes due before class, 3 exams, and a final. It is easy to make an A if you do all the homework and study for the exams. However, it was hard to understand her sometimes. I would recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-04-07

Comments:1320 - PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! The most unorganized and unskilled professor I have ever had. She is unclear on when anything is due. Class time itself is unhelpful because she is AWFUL at explaining things. You might as well read the textbook and teach yourself it during class. Also, the class I was in started with 30 kids and only had 13 left because everyone withdrew. Hands out extra credit that is honestly not worth doing because she'll give like one or two points for 30 questions. The only positive is that the tests aren't that hard.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1321 - I took Calculus in high school prior to college. Coming into college, I was expecting this class to be one of my easiest because I knew all the material going in. Boy was I wrong. Professor Nam is a sweet lady. She assigns a lot of homework, but the HW list is departmental, meaning almost every other class is doing the same amount of work. Nam's tests are extremely challenging, almost to the point of me dropping the class. The nice thing about Nam is she offered some extra credit AND replaced our final exam grade with our lowest test grade. The final is departmental, so everyone takes the same test. I remember leaving that final more confidently than I had any of Nam's tests and all the other people with different professors saying that was the hardest test they had ever taken. My point is...Nam's class will seem like it is difficult, but in the end, you will do fine because she prepares you so well for the final. Overall, Calculus is extremely difficult. It doesn't matter who your professor is, you just got to get through it.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2018-01-05

Comments:1321 - She lectures in class but does not do any sample problems from the homework, and when she does do a sample problem she does the easiest problem. I have not learned anything in this class, the only reason why I have this grade is because I took calculus in high school and because the SI that I have is really good. I do not like her teaching style, it feels like a reverse class (where you read the book and ask questions) but she claims that the class is not a reverse class. She is very unorganized during her lectures, online she posts lecture summary of that lesson but that is exactly where she teaches from even thought they are put online for us to go to if we need extra help. I would highly recommend not taking her if given the option.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-11-09

Comments:1320 - If you can help it- DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, it is the BIGGEST JOKE! She is hands down the WORST teacher. She is very nice, but nice does not get you a good grade or concept of the material. She has a very strong accent and does not know what she's doing a lot of the time (many in my class have proven her answers wrong on the homework and take home quizzes). She has very confusing methods of doing things and simply does not cover all of the materials required to do well on the test. We must grade our own homework by looking at her answers online (which is not helpful whatsoever) and we are left completely dumbfounded come exam days. When asking for help she simply says "read the textbook" or "look at my answers online"- again, not helpful. It really disappoints me that Baylor would have someone, such as her, be a professor.  - Grade In Class:DROP

The first test everyone got like a 40 except for one kid who got a 74 bahahabahaha i cant with this class she had me all the way messed up because she would say perpendicular instead of vertical and parallel instead of horizontal. Comments:1320 - I ONLY GAVE HER ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAD TO. SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER (IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL HER THAT) I HAVE EVER HAD. SHE DOES NOT EXPLAIN MATERIAL. SHE GOES STRAIGHT INTO PROBLEMS AND EXPECTS YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING. HER TESTS ARE MADE OF PROBLEMS THAT ARE HARDER THAN THE PROBLEMS SHE DOES IN CLASS. IF I THERES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WILL TAKE FROM ME, IT IS DO NOT TAKE HER AND IF YOU ARE DROP OUT OF THE CLASS AND SEARCH FOR ANOTHER TEACHER. SHE HAS AN EXTREMELY HEAVY ACCENT WHICH ONLY MAKES IT HARDER TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS THAT SHE NEVER EXPLAINS. SHE ALSO SAYS THINGS LIKE SHE WONT GIVE A QUIZ OR WILL GIVE BONUS POINTS THEN FORGETS ABOUT SAYING IT. I CAN NOT STRESS HOW AWFUL SHE IS AS A TEACHER. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND GPA AND TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!!  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:Pre Cal - DO NOT TAKE HER! Ms. Nam is a very sweet lady and Im sure she would have been awesome to speak with but she is terrible at teaching. She goes on these tangents about something small in her lecture and then tries to relate it to real life. All it does is waste class time and make people super confused. Theres no notes in class because you have to do them all on your own time, which isn't unusual for college, but she doesn't even try to explain them. If you have any questions she just tells you to look at the book or her online notes which don't help at all because they are so unorganized. Theres a prior assignment before each class which is super simple, rarely takes longer than 10 minutes. She will tell you theres a quiz before each class but she doesn't keep up with it. If she does, she pretty much tells you exactly what's going to be on it. Tests are only 8 questions and they take the entire hour of class. Theres usually some sort of extra credit questions. I took calculus my senior year of high school and this pre cal class is a million times harder than that class. Also, she has a very thick accent and even after adapting to it a little, it's still hard to understand her. Would not recommend this class to anyone. Comments:MTH 1320 - Ms. Nam will drag you to the gallows if you are unprepared. This is easily the hardest class I had my freshman year solely due to Nam. She's very hard to understand and pretty unorganized. Every class you have a 2 problem quiz and you have homework due before each test. Each test was around 12 problems long. She graded average but the questions she asked were ridiculous. Often I'd never seen the questions on the tests. It honestly upsets me how Baylor can hire a proffesor like Nam. She's a very intelligent lady but her teaching ability is no where. Halfway through the semester I figured it was better to sleep than pay attention. It turned out to be better since I could be better rested for when I reached myself the material. My advice is stay clear away from her!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1320 - She assigns hw but you don't have to do it. Every so often you'll take quizzes in the class that will be one or two questions. Then you have 4 tests and those determine your grade. There are a ton of inconsistencies in her notes and some things are wrong in them. She doesn't really teach and I couldn't understand her over her accent. Take someone else.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:Precal - Homework quizzes everyday, not too bad, but when tests come they are terrible. My highest test grade was a D+, compared to other teachers her class is way harder. She has a very thick asian accent and is almost impossible to understand. DO NOT TAKE HER.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1301 - Mrs. Nam is a terrible teacher. She is unwilling to help her students and does not follow baylor's policy of allowing students to make up test and work for excused absences and family emergencies. I went to her for help multiple times and instead of helping me she told me that I only had the ability to be a C student and proceeded to not help me. All she did was insult me and be very rude despite my efforts. I'm very good at math and a hard worker. she is such a terrible teacher. She is confusing and difficult to understand with her lacking english ability. She is a terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1320 - Fresh out of High School this class rocked my boat! I was not prepared for the academic challenge of this class. If you know you know your pre-cal than you can take her and not have to worry, but if you are not confident in your math skills than don't take her. I worked and just passed the class. its hard to understand her sometimes too. Do not recommend  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1320 - May people say Professor Nam is really hard to understand. She really isnt. The first couple classes, sure you have to get acclimated to it. However, its fairly easy after the first two classes to understand what she is saying. She can go a little fast, but she will explain a problem if you ask. She makes her office hours readily available and homework isnt that bad. She gives really big curves for the test so dont be scared about it. Tests are similar to practice test as in the way they are solved, but are different numbers. She isnt about memorizing formulas, but how to manipulate a problem to get to the same solution. There is absolutely no calculator work done. Test are solving, no multiple choice. All answers to the homework are posted on blackboard and in the back of the text book, so you can figure out how to do problems easily. There is a Quiz each class, but the problem is directly from the textbook and is always an odd problem.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1320 - People say you can understand her but, Though she has an accent you can comprehend what she is saying it's not hard to follow her during class. Everything that she goes over in class is exactly what she wants you to know and is on the homework and the exams. She gives you everything that you need to know just do your homework and GO TO OFFICE hours, she is more than willing to help and she does help, plus she enjoys seeing that you are taking the initiative to learn and improve. There are no surprises because everything from the lectures, to the book examples, to homework adds up to exams.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1304 - Professor Nam has a strong accent, so it requires you to listen a little harder. She knows what she is doing but it takes her a while to figure out how to illustrate it properly. In class you will find yourself lost but in office hours she is very helpful and an overall kind lady. If you are easily frustrated this is not the instructor for you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - This teacher is really nice and an overall great person. However, her ability to teach isn't that great. I took Honors Pre-Calculus in high school and was taught everything that we're supposed to go over in the curriculum. Her accent is not very fluent at all which makes it hard to understand. Also, if you do not do the work the way she likes, she will take off points which is also hurting my grade. I am familiar in doing certain sections the way I was taught in high school (which is easier for me to understand), however that will not be acceptable for her grading. She teaches only the examples already given in the book which does not necessarily help in understanding anything. I feel as if everything I previously learned is pointless for this class. If you can, AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1304 - She has a horrible accent. It makes it difficult to understand what she is teaching. If you have a good background of precal then you will do well in this class, if not and you are learning from her then it will be more difficult. I've done all the homework and when i ask her for help it's still difficult to understand. She is a nice lady over all, very kind and caring for her students, but is just to difficult to understand. We have quizes once or twice a week but she does not post the grades on blackboard so you don't know what you have until the end of the semester.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1304 - Professor Nam's accent is horrible. You will have to train yourself to understand what she's saying. Her workload is average for a math class. You need to do the homework in order to do well on the tests. Just do not take her. Take a professor who speaks English clearly. She's a great person. She's extremely nice, but I don't know why Baylor would even hire her with her accent. Baffling. ********************Do not take her**************  - Grade In Class:B+
