*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:3325 - Meddaugh is an extremely friendly professor who is willing to answer many questions during class and fully explain anything that is not very obvious. He was nice enough to give us practice exams a week or two before the exams and they were decently similar to the real exam (he also slightly curved our exams). The final exam was literally just questioned pulled from the first exams so if you did well on the regular exams then you were doing fine on the final. I never actually went to office hours but that's because he explains so well during class and is so friendly during lecture that I felt like I never had a good reason but I'm sure his office hours are a great resource for additional questions. There are practice sets, which are not graded, but highly recommended to be completed so you understand the process for the exams, and there was "homework" where you would be given incorrect solutions and asked to fix them which was interesting. Overall, if you want a good math class experience and don't want the stress of constantly having to do quizzes every class then take this professor. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MTH 3300 - Meddaugh is a strikingly sarcastic but surprisingly available professor. Although it's obvious his main interests are his research and teaching grad students, he made my class a priority when necessary, especially when I or other students email him. He went at our pace, welcomed questions, and was exceptionally clear on what material would be tested. Reviews before exams gave a clear expectation of what would show up on our exams. For foundations, receiving feedback is essential, and his is definitely helpful. I'd wouldn't expect to have a better experience in 3300 with another professor: take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3312 - You will never have a professor as absolutely terrible while simultaneously great as Dr Meddaugh. The man has no desire to teach and makes it known. You will be ripping your hair out trying to understand what on earth all this stuff is before your exam - but you will also laugh throughout every one of his classes and will be entertained. His exams are also 99% identical (really identical - he's too lazy to even change the numbers) to the practice/previous exams he gives you, so exams don't end up being that bad during the moment - but the preparation sucks. You will probably learn nothing in this class, but get a decent grade. Good luck if you are doing any other algebra after this course. Overall, his personality is 11/10, his workload is 4/10 and his teaching is -2/10. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MTH 2311 - Dr. Meddaugh (pronounced Meadow) is great! He has a great sense of humor, he's always available (he's got office hours every day), and while his handwriting absolutely sucks, he is willing to admit it, and will gladly read the mess he has written on the board. His lectures are pretty much straight out of the book. He assigns a "homework quiz" every night, which is 10% of your grade. They're usually only 2 or 3 problems, so they don't take long, and he drops the lowest five at the end of the semester. A significant percentage of the test questions are taken directly off the homework quizzes, so those are pretty much gimmes. The tests and quizzes are all open-ended, and you have to show your work for full credit. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:MTH1321 - Dr. Meddaugh is a really awesome guy! I really appreciated his jokes and willingness to help us. He really wants to see you do well! My class went from him dropping three quizzes to convincing him to drop five! His office hours are the best time to learn honestly- if you can not make it to his office hours, email him and he will try and work it out with you! He has a quiz every thursday (12% of grade), three exams (48% of grade) and the final is worth 40%. The final was HARD, but that isn't Meddaugh's fault. He does not require any homework, but his quizzes normally are exactly like the sample problems from the book he gives at the beginning of the semester. I had a B average on quizzes, C average on exams, but completely bombed the final (thus my grade in class), but am retaking it and will most likely retake Meddaugh specifically! - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1321 - I liked his teaching but hated his test styles. And his quizzes were hard. Its like he taught one way but took the tests from the book or from a formatted bank. It was weird. I tried to do all the homework and the reviews, and my test grades were just decent :/ I think it was the quizzes that tripped me up. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1321 - I did not enjoy his teaching style at all. Maybe this was partly my fault for taking calculus at 8 am, but I often found that Dr. Meddaugh went over the material without actually teaching it to us and the tests seemed disproportionately difficult. I am usually an A student, so this class killed me. But honestly I was just happy to pass at the end. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:3325 - Great Professor! Really knows his stuff. More importantly though, he's a super hottie. This class isn't even a requirement for me and I'm failing bc I'm too busy ogling him during class, rather than paying attention. You should definitely take him, if not for the learning experience, then for the visually appealing aesthetics of Dr. Meddaugh himself! - Grade In Class:F
Comments:MTH 3325 - This class was very time consuming. You must do the homework every night. The homework is not graded, but there is no other way to really learn the material. There is a quiz every Friday, but the problems come straight from the homework. The tests are also just like (or actually are) the homework problems. However, Dr. Meddaugh doesn't always prepare for class, and you can tell. He is extremely helpful in office hours, which are usually at really inconvenient times. Dr. Meddaugh is very smart, but extremely arrogant. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MTH 1321 - Dr. Meddaugh is an awesome professor. I really enjoyed his class. He is a very fair grader, is always available for questions. There was a quiz every Friday, 4 questions, and were usually just homework problems. The homework was never due for a grade, but all of the quiz problems, and a lot of the test problems were just like the homework. Dr. Meddaugh always explained the material very clearly during his lectures, and would always answer any questions clearly and thoroughly. I would highly recommend Dr. Meddaugh. - Grade In Class:A
