Comments:French 1402 - Madame Pierce is really sweet and passionate about teaching. Her class is by no means an easy A but it is fair.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2016-04-16

Comments:French 1 - I really enjoyed the class and Mme. Pierce. That being said, the class is not that easy. She plays favorites with students which can get annoying (not even favorites, she just decides who she likes the least) and her tests are bearable but she manages to find the most random pieces of material, making it hard to know exactly what to study. She really is great and I would recommend her, but I would not exactly call her an easy professor.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2016-01-15

Comments:FRE 3301 - Mme. Pierce is absolutely fantastic. She is so kind and approachable. She really cares for her students and is willing to work with them if they have something else going on (in school or life). All of our homework, in class activities and worksheets all contribute to our learning of the material and preparing for the test. I never felt like I was doing busy work, I learned from every assignment. She exams are very fair. I appreciate the study guide she posts to help us study before the test. I wish she could be my professor for every class! Take her!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1402 - Every single day I looked forward to coming to Mme Pierce's class. She's really helped me develop a love for the French language. Take her if you can!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-04-18

Comments:Adv. Grammar - I took Madame Pierce for Advanced Grammar and received an A- in the class. This was my first advanced french class so I was very nervous about the course. She is so so so welcoming and understanding! She will not make you uncomfortable or mock you when you do not understand! We had a small homework assignment every day (for competition grade), 10 in-class writing assignments (she allowed us to do corrections for full credit), and three tests (two during the course and one final). I would highly recommend taking her for any French class!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-12-19

Comments:1401 - Mme Pierce has quickly become one of my favorite professors at Baylor. I had to pick up this class a week late, due to a horrible and belittling Spanish professor who I dropped, and she helped me catch up pretty quickly. She is so sweet and understanding and is completely willing to help you with any troubles you have. She gives a five question quiz once or twice a week that is pretty straightforward and the tests are based on the book. She posts what will be on the test on canvas as well. You will have two oral exams of which she will give some of the possible questions. If I had chosen to study more, I would have easily gotten an A. Take her if you can; she is amazing.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1401 - One of my FAVORITE professors ever! Mme Pierce really helped me develop a passion for French (so much so that I added it as a secondary major). She teaches by immersion and speaks little English-- VERY effective. I'm so surprised at how well I can read/understand/speak with no prior experience with French. She is incredible! Get a spot quick because her classes fill up fast!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-11-16

Comments:1401,1402 - Madame Pierce is the best! I took her for 1401 and 1402. She's very straightforward in her teaching and you learn alot. She makes sure everyone talks in class, so you feel comfortable speaking. She really cares about her students understanding French. There's online homework daily, and she gives in-class quizzes (but she warns you ahead of time). She's an awesome professor, and I highly recommend taking her!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-10-18

Comments:1401, 1402 - Madame Pierce is AMAZING!! I never liked the idea of having to take a foreign language in college, but Madame Pierce made me love French. She's so sweet and gets the whole class to interact and talk to each other. You have online homework every night, but it takes like 15 minutes. Her lectures are EXTREMELY HELPFUL, and she'll go over everything that'll be on her tests or quizzes. She gives you the format of the tests and basically tells you what to study for, so they're really fair. You have 2 oral exams during the semester, and she gives you the questions she'll ask you! Then she'll ask some follow up questions. I literally cannot think of a reason you shouldn't take her. I loved this class and I wish she was teaching French 3 so I could take her again!  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2016-09-03

Comments:1401, 1402 - Mme Pierce is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. I have had her for the first two semesters of French here at Baylor, and she has inspired me to do more semesters even though I am not required to. There were the usual online assignments every night which were straightforward enough, and her quizzes were about every other week. I thought the tests were very appropriate as well to the style of her teaching with a speaking section, writing section, listening section, and other questions regarding verbs and vocab. Oral exams were twice a semester (midterm and final) and you are able to go in with a partner which I think really helps. Also, over these past two semester, I feel like I have bonded with the others in my class simply because we had to talk to each other and knew we were in this together. Overall, TAKE HER. She is great!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-05-03

Comments:1401 - Madame Pierce is very nice and an excellent teacher, but don't be fooled by past reviews. As of fall 2014, none of the tests are take home. She grades easier than she should on the tests, but that doesn't make them easy. You have a test every other week in this class and they get harder as you go on. The homework is easy and pulls up your grade but her tests are what really pulled me down. I would suggest taking her, but be aware of what you're getting yourself into. While the homework isn't a lot to handle, you need to study A LOT to follow along and do well on the tests.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2015-01-07

Comments:1401 - Really good teacher, really easy class. Any effort should result in an A. The problem I had was there was she gave a lot of tests so when I would have a french test and another test around the same time I would prioritize the other test over French which eventually ended up putting me in a B- rut that I got out of thanks to the final. But really, if you're trying theres no reason you can't get at least an A- in the class. The tests are easy and on top of that she's a generous grader. Theres homework everyday but it doesn't take more than 15 minutes to do at the very most. She's a great language teacher too, you actually learn to speak and understand the language in class, not just read and write it. If you're taking 1401 or 1402 you should take her.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2014-12-19

Comments:1401 - Very easy class, although you learn a lot. Prof. Pierce is very sweet and kind. She is also very lenient in her grading. All of the tests were take-home, usually giving you the weekend to complete them. Very good class if you don't pick up on languages easily. You will definitely learn French well.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2012-11-14

Comments:FR1301-1302 - Madame Pierce is an excellent teacher. I had no background in French at all, and at first I was nervous when on the first day she spoke entirely in French. But the truth is, her teaching style makes you learn the language quicker. Also, she is such a sweet and kind lady who wants to see you suceed, so the atmosphere is never harsh or anxious in the classroom. You never feel like you're getting picked on when she calls on you, and she's so kind that you aren't afraid to get the answer wrong-so you try! Be prepared, because you will speak in class, probably more than once every day. But, she understands that this is year 1. The tests are half oral and listening, which I did pretty well at. There are two oral exams also around the midterm/final time. Don't let it scare you- she isn't intimidating and its more like, your french partner will ask you some questions, which you answer, then she will ask you more about that topic. Overall, she is a fantastic lady and wonderful teacher and if I could would take her for everything!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2012-07-02

Comments:1401&1402 - Madame Pierce has been my favorite professor these past two semesters. She has really made me love French and is the best teacher to learn quickly and effectively. You have workbook homework every day which only takes at most 15 minutes and the tests are easy-every other week an in-class test and the other weeks you have take home tests. You do have to practice your French daily, especially during the first semester but she is the funnest, most inspiring professor I have come across. I highly recommend her and can't wait to take her French grammar class when I get to it! J'adore Madame Pierce!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2012-05-11

Comments:FRE 3301 - Only complaint is her super strict attendance policy. Other than that, probably the best French prof at Baylor.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2011-12-12

Comments:French 1412 - I am very grateful and lucky to have had Dr. Pierce for French...she is nice, fair, and helpful. I think she understands that learning languages can be frustrating and tough, but if you're enjoying it and like learning it, you become better at it quicker. She takes the time to really make French interesting. She can be sarcastic and cheeky in her own way, but it only makes her more amusing. I enjoyed coming to this class. Take Dr. Pierce for any French class  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-12-16

Comments:1412 - Dr. Pierce is an excellent professor! Her teaching style gives EVERYONE an opportunity to practice their French-speaking skills, and she is always there along the way to help you. Her workload is light, but if you take the time to understand exactly what the assignment is then you are only benefiting yourself and increasing your abilities. As for tests, she likes to grade in your favor if she knows you genuinely try, and she is always fair. Nice, educated, and great lady. I highly recommend her (she got me interested in French again)  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-10-05

Comments:1401,1402 - Pierce is THE best French professor in the entire department. She is always helpful and loves the language. She expects you to work hard, and her tests can at times be challenging but definitely do-able if you work hard. Homework evey night on workbooks are a bit of a drag, but just fill it out and you should be fine- it's all completion. TAKE HER TAKE HER. cool prof  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-06-24

Comments:FRE 1402 - I had Madame Pierce for the second time in French 2 and I cannot begin to describe how outstanding she is! Not only is she an amazing professor, but a wonderful person as well. She truly cares about her students. If you’re struggling to learn the language, then she will set up a time that works with your schedule and personally help you in anyway she can. Even if you have a personal problem she is very understanding. I have never had a better, more compassionate teacher in my life. The way she conducts class is very conducive to learning French. If you work hard, you can get a good grasp on the language and get an A.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-05-19

Comments:1402 - Madame Pierce is sooo nice and funny! She's really understanding and cares about her individual students. Class was tough, having to speak French all the time, but that's just the program and Madame Pierce is great.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2010-05-12

Comments:4301 - Madame Pierce is really sweet and wants to help. For the Topics in French Grammar class, she is very challenging because of the complexity of the grammar and the amount of memorization. I would take her again. She is a really good teacher who does an excellent job of teaching the material without total dependence on the book. The tests are challenging, but the material on them is expected. The homework load is not bad.   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2010-04-13

Comments:1401 - Madame Pierce is by far the greatest professor I've had at Baylor! She is amazing, if you have the opportunity, TAKE PIERCE! The class is fun, and she teaches in a way that you don't even realize you're learning, but you pick it up so quickly. My best piece of advice would be to go to class! I ended up losing a lot of points in participation because I didn't go to class, however, when I was in class, I was active. She's an amazing professor with a unique teaching style.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2010-01-01

Comments:FRE 1401 - Madame Pierce is a wonderful professor, hands down! I would pick her over any other french professor! She is very personable in class and creates a very positive learning environment. If you are freaked out about being called on to speak in class, TAKE MADAME PIERCE! She has a method of asking questions where no one ever feels worried or embarassed. She learns everyone's name in class immediately and because of her verbal exercises, all the students in class learn each other's names as well. Her class was fun because we got to know Mrs. Pierce as well as each other and things never got awkward. If you don't know something, she'll explain better or give you a chance to hear someone else before coming back to you. She is 100% available to help students, and wants you to do well in her class. The downside is that she is such a great teacher that it's easy to not realize how difficult her class is. A lot of people struggle to do well in her class. The in class tests are not as difficult as they seem, but always study. She gives you a detailed study guide before each in class test though that tells you exactly what to study without just giving you the questions. The oral exams are stressful and difficult, but she gives you the questions for the exam beforehand, so it's really up to you to study enough to do well. Try not to miss class as much as possible and don't fall behind in your homework, because it really does help. You are given around 3 pages in the workbook for homework every night, but they are very easy and almost all the answers are in the back of the workbook anyways. You watch these awesome french soap operaish episodes with every chapter that start out kind of dull because you don't know much, but by the last episode of the semester, we were freaking out! (although our class was mainly girls, so what can i say) Mrs. Pierce will show us current french magazines and have us read an article to show us how much we really can understand. Once, she showed us an article about Hannah Montana, and those are just the kind of things she likes to do to help students learn. We listened to music once in class and on our last day of class, we played french jeapardy and battleship to study for the final exam. Take Pierce!! Our class absolutely fell in love with her, and we are ALL taking her again next semester! Her spaces go fast though, so jump on it early! Bon chance!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-12-26

Comments:1401 - Madame Pierce is THE BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHER THERE IS at Baylor. Do not be fooled and take other professors who are not as good. If you really want to learn French and do it in a fun way, then TAKE Madame Pierce. I had never spoken a WORD of French when I walked into her intro class and now I know more than I ever expected I would. She speaks French from day one but does it in a way that you will understand. Everybody in the class will also get a chance to speak everyday but it is really fun. We have assignments everyday from the workbook for homework. The best part is no quizzes! We do however have take home tests every other week which should be called take-home quizzes because they are only worth 10% of your grade. Then the other weeks you have in-class tests in the Language acquisition center. If you do all the homework and you don’t miss class then all you have to do is a little reviewing for the tests. The hardest parts are the 2 orals (mid-term oral and an oral at the end of the semester). Prepare as much as you can for these because they are 20% of your grade. Madame Pierce will help you prepare for them if you ask her. She is wonderful about helping you inside or outside of class. DO NOT MISS CLASS because if you do it is almost a guaranteed F. If you study hard for the final and go to class everyday you can definitely pull off an A. You will learn so much in this class and trust me it never gets boring. Madame Pierce is the cutest sweetest lady and she will help you learn French no matter what it takes!   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-12-17

Comments:1412 - I absolutely hated this class. The tests don't reflect how much or what you learned at all. They're always the same format. I could just never get used to the format. There's like 7 different sections on each test, and i would do pretty well on every section by only missing maybe 2 points on each section. However, in the end those 2 or 3 points from each section would add up to about 25 points. The final was really the only test that kept me from getting a B though.   - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2008-12-18

Comments:1412 - Madame Pierce is WONDERFUL. She's super sweet and gives you lots of opportunities to practice and use French in the classroom. You have to speak in French everyday to get your participation grade, but you never feel like you're being put on the spot. There is homework everyday, but it is never all that much and it does reflect what will be emphasized on the tests. The tests during the semester were on the easier side as long as you studied and did the work. There is listening, speaking and writing portions of the test, as well as some cultural question that come word for word from the book. You must do a presentation in French in front of the class on an aspect of French culture. You get to pick your topic and it isn't very long (5-8 minutes) and by the time you're presenting this, you've already met and gotten to know the people in your class, so it isn't as nerve-wracking as it could be. I would definitely take her for another course. My French greatly improved with her help.   - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2008-12-15

Comments:1401 - Madame Pierce is an excellent teacher, but this class has a huge workload. She covers about a chapter a week. There is some kind of test every week, but it alternates between take-home and in-class. There is homework everyday from the workbook that she checks everyday for a completion grade. I really liked the teacher and learned a lot, but I had to work really hard for my grade.   - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2008-11-24

Comments:2320 - Yes, she is definitely one of the better French profs. Her tests were far easier than Mme. Level's. She lets you fill in the blank on tests with your own verbs, and you can prepare the essay question beforehand. She's pretty picky on the fill in the blank parts. Study endings, tenses, and weekly vocab/grammar quizzes. One oral with prepared responses and a partner, I think it was worth 10% of your grade. Incompetent partner can kill your grade. :(  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2008-07-13

Comments:1401 and 1402 - Prof. Pierce is the best professor I have had at Baylor, and I am a Senior. She is funny, helpful, and so nice. I loved every class, and made friends in both semesters because you have so much fun in class. Not only is it fun, she is an awesome teacher. It may be hard, but if you go to class every day, you can make an A. If I hadn't skipped so much I would have had an A. You learn so much more french taking her. The second time I took her, all the people in the class who had taken her the previous semester knew way more french than the people who had had other professors. TAKE PIERCE!!!!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2008-07-02

Comments:1412 - Really nice lady. She is very interested in helping students understand French and learn to speak it more proficiently. Great professor!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2008-05-14

Comments:FRE 1401, 1402 - Prof. Pierce is the best french prof by far. I took her for my first two semesters (hopefully she'll teach 2310) and learned a lot and loved the class, it was my favorite class to go to every day, even though it gets tiring going MTWRF. She was out sick one week and 4 other professors came in to teach, and they were awful by comparison. Everyone in my class who had a different prof. for 1401 was much worse at FRE than people who had pierce. take her if you can.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2008-03-30

Comments:1401 - I absolutely adored this class! Pierce is probably the best teacher I've had yet. She's funny, makes sure everyone gets an equal chance to talk in class, whether you want to or not, and is more than willing to schedule time outside of class if you need extra helps. The tests weren't too hard or too easy, so studying a couple days before each exam probably helps. We did a few pages out of the workbook each night, nothing that took longer than fifteen or so minutes. I would definitely recommend her - I even tried to take her for 1402, but she's so popular the class closed real fast!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2008-03-17

Comments:2320 - Mme. Pierce is an amazing professor. I took her for 1402 and 2320 and I learned so much in both. Finding a good professor in this department is hard, seeing as most of the good ones end up "leaving", but Pierce is quite possibly the best one we've got! Take her if you can!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2007-05-04

Comments:1401 - Okay, so Prof.Pierce is pretty much the most adorable person ever! Her class was a total blast! I wish i had devoted more time to it and worked harder. The tests are pretty easy as long as you study. Learning a new language is just downright difficult but Prof.Pierce makes it as easy as she can. She's totally cute and is actually really quite funny. I def. recommend her to everyone!!  - Grade In Class:D

Date: 2006-12-15

Comments:FRE 1401 - Pierce was the coolest teacher i had for my first semester here at baylor. It's so easy to learn french because of her. There was a workbook assignment due at the beginning of class everyday but it only took about 10-20 minutes to do. Take-home tests and in-class tests alternated every week. She gives a review of what will be on the tests on blackboard so you know what to study ahead of time. The tests aren't hard if you prepare yourself for them. I liked her class so much that im taking her again this semester for 1402. If you get the chance, take Pierce!!!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2006-01-06

Comments:1412 - Mme Pierce is absolutely wonderful! She is always willing to help you with what ever you want. You will have homework, especially in 1412-two semesters in one. The CD is easy and the workbook isn't bad. If you can take Mme Pierce do it, she’s great  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2005-12-01

Comments:1403/2310 - I adore Pierce!! I took her for two semesters and loved her both times!! She really gets to know her students and expects them to get to know each other. Always willing to help. Nice lady, really cares!!!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2005-05-10

Comments:1412 - Mme Pierce has a very interactive style of teaching which lets you get to know your classmates really well. She has a sense of humor too. Every day you do the same routine, which sometimes gets a little old, but it's not too bad. Her homework load is not bad, but her tests are a little hard. She is very approachable and cares about her students.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2005-02-12

Comments:1412 - Mme Pierce is the reason I changed my major to French. she is so much fun in class, and you still learn a lot, and your speaking skills get so much better. She's probably the friendliest person I've ever met, and she's very funny. if every professor was like Mme Pierce, no one would ever skip class.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2005-02-01

Comments:1412 - I love Madame Pierce. She is the kindest person and really respects her students. She is also very helpful and understands if you happen to not turn in a hw assignment once or twice. The tests are fair because she tells you exactly what's going to be on it on Blackboard. I strongly recommend her if you want to take French or don't know what language you want to take. Even if you don't enjoy French, you will surely enjoy Pierce.   - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2005-01-10

Comments:1412 - Madame Pierce is amazing. She is extremely accomadating and VERY sweet. Her tests were hard, but if you pay attention in class you'll do well. I'd definitely recommend this class =).  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1403 - Dr.Pierce is the sweetest lady. i loved having her. i did not learn anything in high school...i actually learned more from her in one semester then i had learned my 3 years in high school combined. she is really great. i would recommend her to anyone because she will work with you if you need help. She wants everyone to pass. Her tests can be difficult but definitely doable. i would have to say that she has been my fave teacher at baylor. so take Dr. Pierce!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FRE - The best prof. I have had so far. I hated french in high school, but now love to speak it! She is an amazing teacher- it is a blessing to have her teach such a difficult language!! Her tests can be hard, but there are no surprises. She is also a very fair teacher.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:She's the coolest.

Comments:She is the best french teacher anyone will ever have in their entire lives. I assure you you will learn a lot and she is also an extremely nice person as well. She cares about your grade and she motivates you to do well. I recommend her to anyone who has not taken french before. I only wish she were teaching FRE 1402!

Comments:Ditto. Pierce is by far the best teacher in the French department.

Comments:Madame Pierce is such a sweet lady. Her tests are a little hard, but she'll do almost anything to help you learn the language.
