Comments:sociology - Dr. Bradshaw is honestly one of the kindest and most understanding professors at Baylor. At the beginning of the semester he asked the class what qualities we seek in a professor (essentially what makes a good professor). Every adjective he wrote on the board. The list was extensive including words such as empathetic and inspiring. Bradshaw then proceeded to erase all of the adjectives he feared he could not live up to. He erased over half of them. After having taken his class during his last semester at Baylor I can say from first hand experience that Bradshaw should have kept every one of those identifiers up on the board because his teaching reflected all of them. I was the one that said the best professor is an "inspiring" professor and Dr. Bradshaw truly did inspire me. During class I can tell he tried to reach the underrepresented group, or rather, students that are considered the "underdogs" in a way. These students are not the typical Baylor students that come from wealth and happy families. He aimed to give these underdogs hope and inspire them when the world outside his class would otherwise discourage them and remind them of their shortcomings. I am one of these students and with the tragedy of COVID-19 (the semester I took this class) I can say that their have been many discouraging moments outside of his class. However, Dr. Bradshaw inspired me to believe in myself and realize that I can accomplish big things in the academic world. I know that he is most likely not coming back to Baylor but I feel like I still had to write this. I will end this review by stating that Baylor made a BIG mistake in not continuing to have Bradshaw teach sociology at their campus. He was an asset and a hidden diamond in the rough.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Matt is the best professor at Baylor. If you don’t take him you’re just shooting yourself in the foot. You will learn a lot about yourself and the world. It’s also so much fun. He brings food and drinks to class all the time and plays music before class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Probably the best professor I’ve ever had at Baylor. He actually cares about his students, his school and the class. He goes by Matt and doesn’t let you call him Dr. Bradshaw. He’s super down to earth and just amazing guy. You should take him just for the experience of it. He will he gone next year so don’t miss out! Seriously so worth it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - Matt is a fantastic human being. Like, I love everybody in the Sociology department, but Matt has to be my favorite. He's super passionate about the subject of population health and he does an excellent job of keeping students interested and involved. He's also extremely personable and would love for any of his students to talk with him about anything they need to discuss—class related or personal life. Y'all have Spring 2018 before he has to leave. This man has made an incredible impact on my life, and I have learned so much from his class. If you have the chance to take this man, please do! You won't regret it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Y'all. Matt is one of my favorite teachers. He's so passionate about his subject that he does everything possible to make the class enjoyable so that his students grow to love it just as much as he does. Your extra credit comes from speaking in class, and he passes out snacks and candy periodically to reward you for coming to class. This semester he's even trying to organize a day for students to come out to his farm to see his animals. He is always eager to meet students during office hours, and although I never really made the effort to get to know him well, he is still such a genuine, caring professor and I appreciate the way he cares about his students. He never says a negative word about anything or anyone. He's very open about his personal backstory, which I think makes it easier for other students to open up during discussions. There are no papers, projects, or a final. Your grade is 3 tests and about 10 take home quizzes. His tests are not easy, I got a low B on his first test after studying. I did far better on his second test though. Just study hard for tests and you'll be fine. Matt is probably the most caring professor at Baylor, you WILL NOT regret taking him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Matt is the nicest professor on campus and absolutely makes class enjoyable even when the material is very boring. He always ramps up the good points that people bring up and he never tells anyone they're wrong he never said a negative word in class. Tests are m/c and his review sheets are enough to get an A on the tests if you can answer the questions on the review sheets. Take home "quizzes," which are just really 4 elementary questions/topic, and participation will pad your grade. TAKE MATT IF YOU CAN- YOURSELF AND YOUR GPA WILL THANK YOU.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - Matt is a great guy and a fun professor. The class is very large so he doesn't really get the opportunity to get to know anyone on a personal level, but always encourages people to come to his office hours to get to know him and talk to him. He gives out so many chances to get participation points (in class- speaking aloud, but for more shy people, she sends out mass e-mails with opportunities to get points through writing or taking surveys etc). His class was really interesting and I'm glad I took it. If you can, take Matt for sociology!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - Bradshaw is the BEST. I always looked forward to his class because he always made the topics super interesting. No homework, papers, or projects, but some pop quizzes. The tests aren't that bad if you study. For the first test I got a C, the second test I got a B, and on the final I got an A. When my average came out as an 87 at the end of the semester, he bumped me up to an A because he noticed the progress in my test scores. Literally the coolest and nicest guy ever.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3372 - One of the very best courses I have taken at Baylor. The material is interesting, the discussions are interesting, the class itself is very laid back but covers a lot. Professor Bradshaw prefers that you call him Matt and he really makes the class what it is. He bring such a positive energy to the class that you can't help but focus and want to learn something. It's not a difficult course by any means but I wouldn't call it a complete blowoff either. Highly recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3372 - Every health-oriented student should take this class. It is discussion based, and the most insightful class I have taken at Baylor. You get to talk about the issues that shape the health of people today, relating spheres of influence I never thought could be related before. Dr. Bradshaw is the best professor here at Baylor, always encouraging new ideas and helping us be better thinkers. This class is easy, but not because there is no work. You have to do the readings, but they are so interesting you finish them in no time. The entire class period is discussion, and boy does it get interesting. The point: you will thoroughly enjoy and learn from this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Sociology - Dr. Bradshaw has thus far been the only professor in Baylor professor who cares more about what the student is learning about than cramming as much information as he can to fit a "quota" while simultaneously conducting a very educational and influential course. The dedication he had to our class was unlike anything I've ever seen before. I mention this because I heard that someone has been saying he constantly cancels classes - he doesn't. He was super sweet, and always available. Make sure you study to do well on his tests, but he goes over the material extensively and they aren't unreasonably difficult. Thanks Matt!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - The BEST teacher a student could ask for. Dr. Bradshaw genuinely cares about his class and all the people in it. I took him Spring 2015. You must know the course material in order to get an A on the test though. Bradshaw is the type of teacher that wants you to succeed but also wants you to have fun while learning. TAKE HIM!!! It was for sure my favorite class so far here at Baylor. I miss it! If you're reading this THANKS MATT!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Bradshaw is a fine professor. He is passionate about his subject, is very qualified and available, and does not make his course unnecessarily difficult. He is kind and easygoing, and likes to run his class more casual and personable than others. He does cancel class frequently - He cancels before spring break, after Dia, and about 5 or 6 other times throughout the semester (including Monday through Friday one week because he was in Louisiana, for a conference or something). The only things that are a bit awry with Matt's teaching style other than canceling a lot of class is that he does not in any way conduct a productive class. He doesn't begin the lecture until 10 minutes or more into classtime, he lets students talk over him, sleep in class, and generally disrespect him, he seeks approval to WAY too high a degree from his students and I'm pretty sure he thinks we would skip class anyways if he didn't cancel periodically. It's not that I don't mind class being cancelled every few weeks or so, it's that I'm insulted that he assumes we "wouldn't show up anyways" if he didn't. He writes so many letters of rec because he's an easy professor and students know this. His clicker questions at the beginning of class are lousy and childish. His reviews and evaluations boost his confidence and it's silly how much his students' approval means to him - he wants to be a "cool" professor so badly that it comes across as immature. While his students may respect him, they don't respect his class. These three kids who sat in front of me last spring, they watched Netflix on one of their laptops every single class throughout the semester and Matt did nothing because he's too afraid to be firm and take control of his class. These guys behind me would always yell out obscenities to make everyone laugh and Matt pretended it was funny as well. In summary, I think Bradshaw's a fine professor, but not if you care about your education. I will probably get another mass email from him regarding this review (because he checks BUbooks regularly), but what I've said is the honest truth. Take Bradshaw for 1305 for the easiest A of your life (I had a 104% - and that's with A-'s on every exam). I wonder if he'll write a fake review himself to call my review BS.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Great teacher!!! Take him! Easy easy A. He assigns a lot of reading that is helpful to understanding the topics, but honestly I stopped reading after the first test. Come to class, be engaged--which is easy to do since he is a great lecturer--and study power points. He gives you a review, it takes some time to fill out, especially if you didn't do the readings, but the test is exactly like it. He also offers easy extra credit which got me over a 100 in his class. Easy class but you will also learn a lot.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Please heed my advice when I say take this class. Matt is the greatest professor this university has to offer just because of how down to earth he is and much he cares about each of his students. Get involved and speak up in class, if you have to take this class, take Bradshaw or none, easiest A, but a very enjoyable A  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 1305 - If you signed up for Bradshaw, you just lucked out. Such a down to earth guy who genuinely respects his students. All of his teaching is very relatable to life and not all textbook - so actually super fun and interesting class. I'd almost say if you have anyone else, drop them and take Bradshaw.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro to sociology - BEST PROF AT BAYLOR! Matt (Dr. Bradshaw) was one of my favorite prof this semester. He is super fun, cool, and very approachable. I'm gonna miss his class so much next year. You can get by without reading, plus he offers extra credit! He also cancels class alot, during the spring semester at least. MATT IF YOU'RE READING THIS, YOU DA MAN!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - I FREAKING LOVED BRADSHAW SO MUCH!!!!!!! He is funny and a nice caring guy, I learned so much from him by just listening. Take Bradshaw if you get a chance, taking another teacher instead of Bradshaw is like going to Mcdonalds over Olive Garden  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - I took this class as junior, and if I would have a man like Matt as a professor my freshman year, WOW! I call him Matt because thats his preference, as opposed to Dr. Bradshaw. He's SUPER COOL AND LAID BACK, TEACHES WELL, and genuinely cares about his students. I literally made a BU books account just to rant about him. WOWOWOWOWOWOW! He mightve gone easy on our class because it was all first semester-freshman. I think I maxed out on absences but still made a 94. Hes fantastic about office hours and replying to emails, and will suprise you with puppies and his cute daughter!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - TAKE MATT. Best sociology professor. He cancels class before every test so you can "study" and sporadically throughout the semester. He also really cares about you. He'll give out his cell phone number at the beginning of the semester and encourages you to call him if you have any issues at all. Also, his class is SUPER easy. I never paid attention in class or studied for the tests and got high B's. But the quiz grades bring your average up. They're pretty much worksheets because you take them home with you and they're nearly all completion I think. He's a truly nice guy and understands that most of us aren't sociology majors but he does want us to learn a little something.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Wonderful teacher! He loves sociology so much, and makes you interested in it too! The points he made were so interesting and well-thoughtout. He takes time to research great articles and videos. Although there is a lot of reading in the class, you can get by without reading it. Plus, he cancels class the week of thanksgiving!!! Highly recommend Professor Bradshaw as a teacher! (one day he even pulled out a turtle...so awesome)  - Grade In Class:A
