Comments:PSC4393- Conservatism - Incredible professor and person. He has a wealth of life experiences before becoming a professor and this makes his teaching all that more relevant. Dr. Corey is an engaging and passionate lecturer who facilitates a socratic dialogue with his students. Dr. Corey is so well liked and respected among his students that many take him for multiple semesters in a row.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 H - So, I took the Honors section of Great Texts with Dr. Corey,,, and I loved it. Yes, it was a very intensive course (lots of reading and he had quizzes almost every class) but he knows his stuff. Dr. Corey knows these books like the back of his own hand, and he makes sure you walk out of the classroom with a better understanding of your purpose and your life. Yes, he is a pretty strict grader, but I benefitted a lot from having someone actually try to improve my writing and give me really specific advice and fixes. I think he comes off as a little intimidating, but the man truly cares for all of his students and genuinely wants to build a relationship with you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 4373 - Dr. Corey is the best! You actually learn how to think and how to write in his class. He's very great at prompting thoughtful discussion, and he picks really awesome readings. He's super helpful outside of class too if you want to meet with him to ask about a paper or something. He's very personable and wants to get to know you. The workload is what is to be expected from an upper-level course. Take him if you get the chance!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS Political Philosophy - This man is a straight-up genius. I don't think I have ever in my life had the pleasure of being in a room with someone more intelligent than Dr. Corey. He is extremely witty, can think on his feet exceptionally well, and is super accomplished. If any one person should be the face of Baylor University--ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Corey. He is easily the best professor at Baylor. He doesn't take crap and for sure isn't an easy A (especially because he is SUCH an accomplished writer and will always know of ways you can improve your essays) but he is worth taking for the sheer benefit of being in the presence of his intelligence and the priceless knowledge he will impart on you. If you are willing to work hard and speak up in class, you'll be rewarded and can get a good grade. Dr. Corey is not for slackers, but he is the epitome of what an excellent professor should be.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 4373 Liberalism - What a guy. Seriously, if you ever get the chance to take Dr. Corey, you MUST. Though we are but mere undergraduates, Dr. Corey takes his students' opinions and arguments very seriously. He is a Socratic through and through (he's a Plato Scholar for crying out loud), and cares about Truth. He is not afraid to chase arguments to their conclusion but always has the structure and end goal of his lecture in mind. He prepares for classes, what a refreshing reality that is! Have you ever had a prof who actually didn't do the reading and just asks you irrelevant questions? Not this prof. Dr. Corey does all the readings with us and somehow anticipates all of our questions and arguments about the reading. This is the most important thing about him: He understands political philosophy and its important place in the life of society. Political philosophy is not a neatly compartmentalized discipline, its scope spans the entirety of the human experience, from economics to science to theology and beyond. Corey knows this and with one of the quickest and sharpest mind I've ever witnessed, he pares down arguments and facilitates discussion in order to get to the meat of the matter. He always brings in relevant examples to nourish our discussion on fresh conflicts, and when you go into his office, he engages with you fully, no BS, no fluff, no holds barred. If you have any wits about you, take a damn class with Dr. Corey.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3373 - Western Political Thought (Modern) - Dr. David Corey stepped in for his wife to teach this section, and I was very happy that he served as the replacement. He is quick, witty, rhetorically-cognizant, engages the entire class, and entertains questions and debates of all sorts. He has high standards for writing and class preparation, and holds students accountable to his standards (which is SO GREAT for maximizing class time). His selection of texts (Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Mill) is perfect in developing his course objectives, and his tests are fair and well-focused. My only complaint against Corey is the speed at which he criticizes faith and the church, sometimes pulling Bible passages out-of-context to prove a point. However, I would still definitely recommend taking his course, and getting to know him outside of class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:W Political Thought - This class is basically a class on Plato. Corey is the smartest teacher I've ever had. His lectures are planned to perfection every class. The readings can be pretty boring, but tests and papers are reasonable. Stay on top of notes and go to class. This class will push you beyond politics into the deeper meaning of life. Enjoy philosophy, enjoy corey.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 2305 - David Corey is the best professor at Baylor in my mind, hands down. He is everything you would want in a professor: smart, fun and compassionate towards his students. I went through a rough time when I took his class and Dr. Corey went out of his way to make sure I didn’t fail. Corey cared about me and what I took from his class. He is well read beyond belief and could answer any question I had about the text. Corey is an asset to Baylor and I wish he could teach every single of my classes. He is a teacher I will always remember and appreciate. I cannot give a higher recommendation. Like the person below said, he is a 20 out of 10. Take Dr. Corey!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Class on Plato - Dr. Corey is brilliant! You will get a high grade in his class because he will not let you do poorly. Dr. Corey works with his students and really cares about them succeeding. I have never met a teacher more devoted to the well being of his students. Corey is also a fantastic speaker and knows the subjects he teaches like the back of his hand. But while he is super smart, Corey is humble about it. He has a way of making everyone feel their opinion is valued. My advice: TAKE THIS MAN. My friends all loved him and now I understand why.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC - I am not a Poly Sci major, but I absolutely loved Dr. Corey! He made the subject interesting for me and everyone in class! Dr. Corey will challenge students to think but his class is really not that hard. He will do everything and more to make sure you 1) get an A and 2) understand the material. He even invites students to have dinner with him and his family. Dr. Corey loves what he does and it shows. He is hands down one of the smartest and best lecturers at Baylor. I am so happy I took Dr. Corey.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC - Dr. Corey is the best teacher at Baylor: hands down. 20 out of 10. He is one of those brilliant people that you tell your kids about. And he always treats students with extraordinary respect and dignity.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 5343 - Dr. Corey is my favorite teacher. He is a fantastic speaker and really knows his stuff. He makes class so interesting and challenges his students to think. I cannot recommend Dr. Corey more highly. He is the kind of professor that you remember.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:GTX 2301 - I had Dr. Corey for the University Scholars section Great Texts. He was amazing. He is so respectful towards students, other professors, and the texts themselves. He is extremely knowledgeable as well. Dr. Corey seems like he is eager and open to learning new things, which might come from input from us :). He's a cool guy. He is very busy so he doesn't have office hours per se, but he is very accomodating and will meet you when he can; if not, he'll correspond via email. As the course was taught along with two other professors, Dr. Corey alone wasn't in charge of the curriculumm, etc. There was a lot of careful reading required, but I enjoyed it. Again the essays took up a lot of time, but were somehow enjoyable. Daily quizzes weren't hard if you read the texts carefully. A very fair grader on papers-- in fact, I was prepared for him to be way tougher. I will miss his class!   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC Social World I - Corey will kick your butt, but he's worth taking if you have time to read the texts (sometimes over and over again just to understand them if it's Social World). A lot of the girls in my class thought he was a PILF, but he's a hard PILF. Do NOT take this man on PILF-factor alone. His section of SW1 is demanding and you'll learn a lot. He's very helpful if you've read the texts, and pretty easy to track down if you need help. If you're there to goof around, though, take someone else.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:GTX 2302 - Amazing prof and class. He teaches you how to write real college essays and is even willing to talk outside of class about the readings or whatever you want. The readings and class discussions changed my life. Take this prof!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:GTX 2302 - At first, I couldn't stand this man because I thought he was extremely arrogant, but after I went to ask him a few questions in his office, I figured out he was actually a pretty nice guy. Brag on his daughter and that will get you brownie points for sure. Go visit him in his office, and ask him questions about your papers before you write them. He is super helpful, and he really is interested in your life. He does take attendance so go to class, but if you have to miss, email him with a good reason. Overall, an extremely intelligent man with a lot to give, you kind of just have to get past the annoying parts of him.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3363 - Dr. Corey is yes, a good teacher. But if you have any sort of life outside of school then I encourage you to NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The workload is VERY INTENSE and you will spend hours reading and more hours writing. The atmosphere is a bit intimidating as well. If you have a busy semester then DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you have a lot of time, (a WHOLE WHOLE LOT OF TIME) and are academically driven, go for it.   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2006-01-03

Comments:Social World II - Dr. Corey is an extremely intelligent professor who knows his stuff... However, he will let you know that he is way smarter than you and often undermines his students... Take someone else...  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Social World II - An outstanding professor with high standards for his students. Demands that you read the material and comprehend texts fully. Engaging during classroom discussions - you cannot float by or afford to not read any of the texts.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:PolThought - Yeah, he's a great prof. Very dynamic and fun to be in class with...not to mention that he's HOT  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC 2322 - BIC is hard no matter what, but he made me want to do well. He encourages his students to go past their own limits. Amazing teacher with very unique teaching style.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2004-07-08

Comments:Am. Pol. Tht - Unbelievable teaching style, probably the best professor I've had at Baylor. It is a lot of work, but he makes it to where you WANT to do the work because it is so interesting. Never a boring class...I've never been in a class when students were actually disappointed when we had a walk, if that tells you anything about how good he is.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Corey is the best and hard at the same time. He expects you to do your best and I found him very helpful for the BIC stuff. Overall-I would not mind having him for all my classes!
