Comments:NSC 1306-Intro to Neuro - This is how you get an A in NSC 1306. At first, your gonna freak, Unit 1 is with Dr. Keele, its a lot of info, its overwhelming but chill cause it gets better. Study his sldies for sure and do read the textbook for his unit since its the basis for everything later on in the semester. I will say that you need a 207/230 to get an A in that class but IT IS VERY POSSIBLE. The second unit is Dr. Malavanti, this unit I thought was the hardest but for her, make sure you study in depth the systems she talks abt in class. Unit 3 was with Dr. Scullin, HES THE BEST. He is super engaging and his content isn't super bad, this is where I stopped reading the textbook and focused more on class lectures and just listening and taking notes. His questions are super super fair. For his unit he tells you a couple of topics that we are responsible for covering from the textbook on our own, legit just do what he tells u to and your so fine. Last unit is Dr. Phillips, this one was also fine. Just listen and take notes from lect slides and you will do fine on the exam. Overall, you get one dropped exam but each exam is 50 points so 3 50 point exams plus an 80 point final and THAT IS IT. 4 grades and that is it. You can also purchase the lect note textbook from the bookstore and is helpful for sure with organizing info. I would say overall this class is very difficult but if you like this stuff and willing to really study and put in a lot of work, its so doable. The questions on all exams are all multiple choice and pretty straight forward, some tend to be more general and others are more specific. Organize your info, study, REPITITION, be curious, explain it out loud to yourself, and teach it to others, YOU WILL DO GOOD. I usually started studying for the exams about a week in advance and the SI practice exams are also super helpful and give you an idea of the questions. I never actually attended an SI session but heard great things about them and all the worksheets were always in canvas to complete on own time if it works better for you :) - Grade In Class:A |

Comments:NSC 1106 - The Introduction to Neuroscience Laboratory is such a joke. It's all online, and I feel like I learned nothing from the course. The course is graded out of 130 points. The first module is 5 quizzes, with one that can be dropped. The second module is an introduction to R, which is like this sort of coding program or whatever. The third module is Sleepy Mice. Basically, you make a chart and write some stuff over sleep deprivation. The fourth and final module is FraidyRat. I think that like 99% of people in the lab despise FraidyRat. Honestly, the program is really cool, but the quizzes that you have for that module can't be dropped. As long as you stay on top of the coursework, it should be fine. However, if you're confused, don't even bother asking the TAs, they just use the job as a study hall. - Grade In Class:A |

Comments:3319 - This class is hard, it's an upper level neuro course, so you can't expect it to be on the same level as intro. You have to read the book or you'll do poorly on the exams. There's 4 exams and a final and he drops your lowest of the 4 regular exams. He does retake quizzes, you take one at the beginning of class, then he lectures over the quiz material and you retake the quiz at the end of class, so there's a guaranteed 100 if you pay attention. he also drops your 3 lowest. His exams are 80% book info and maybe a couple of questions from lecture. There's MC, some open-ended, matching, and drawing. The open-ended and drawing are predictive, if he spends a whole lecture talking about one specific thing or drawing it, chances are it's going to be an open-ended question on the exam. Seriously, just read and go to class (which can be boring most of the time) and you can make a good grade. - Grade In Class:A |
