Comments:ELC 4396 - You certainly won't hear anything new about Dr. Grady from me since everybody else seems to have nailed the same general consensus of him. That said, Smart Grid with him wasn't bad at all. Just strangely organized and occasionally interesting. He's a nice guy and very knowledgeable about this field, but effectively teaching it is another story. He doesn't use Canvas. Lectures are basically made up on the fly for that week, as are homework assignments. Tests were initially expected, but we never did any and instead had a report and a final presentation; both of which were pretty easy. You'll basically have no idea what you're doing or what you're looking at any point in the class (you might spend a whole week just watching Grady tinker on an Excel spreadsheet to seemingly no end). Because of this, the only stress you're going to have in this revolves entirely around what Grady's expectations are for his assignments but honestly; don't sweat it. As long as you make some kind of an effort to do whatever vague task has been assigned to you that week and occasionally engage with him in class, you'll be golden. As long as you do those two things, you're almost guaranteed to walk away at the end of the semester with an "A" and accumulated a stack of handouts the size of a textbook. So if you need an ECE elective and something like "Semiconductor Devices" or "Quantum Computing" sounds too daunting alongside your already tears inducing courseload, then take this class. I'm not joking.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ELC 2320 - Dr. Grady is an interesting man. As many of the ratings below me have stated, he probably was once a genius and well respected in the field, but at this point misses the mark completely. There is no canvas, so a paper trail is non-existent, meaning that your grade is determined by whether he likes you or not. HW is him drawing a circuit and saying \"here it is\" without giving any instructions. Tests are 1 question, but since he doesn\'t teach the material required many people don\'t get a single question right on the exam. That being said, it looked like he graded it not on the actual content of your work, but on how much you filled the page. Do not take him, but he was the only option so I would prepare for the worst.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ELC 2320 - Bizarre class. Dr. Grady was obviously at one point a brilliant scientist and engineer, but at this point he has forgotten how to do basic circuit analysis. He frequently did problems wrong in class and skipped many fundamental topics that I am worried are going to show up in the circuits section on the mechanical FE/PE exams. At the very least the class wasn't too hard, since tests were open note and he dropped the lowest two out of six total (!). Some of his tangents in class about defense-related projects and wind/solar power were interesting, but they came at the detriment of material we really should have been covering. Homework load started off as a lot but trailed off to almost nothing by the end of the semester. Exam questions were oddball or off the wall, but he gave very generous partial credit. Like one of the other reviews said, he does not use Canvas and a paper trail for your grade is absolutely non-existent. I think he kind of just gives you whatever he feels like, so try and engage with him before or after class so that you'll stay on his good side!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ELC 2320 - The homework and the exams were confusing because I had no idea what was going on in this class. However it was easy to pass on partial credit. So you won't learn anything but it's a decently easy A. (Especially if you have a decent understanding of basic circuits) The most frustrating part is he doesn't use canvas. So I didn't know my grade the entire semester and had to guess based on (some) returned work. I didn't get much from class and would probably have learned just as much from the textbook and youtube.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3314 - Dr. Grady is unlike any professor I've ever had at Baylor. He grades based on his opinion of you, and any paper trail for your grade vaporizes, so there is no argument with the letter you get at the end. The things he teaches in class aren't even close to what you are supposed to be learning in this REQUIRED course. Even after graduation, I still don't understand what a transistor really does, even though I was supposed to learn about it in this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ELC 3314 - Professor Grady is unlike any professor I've ever had. He hands a syllabus out on the first day that could fit on a notecard, but it at least looks organized. Then he promptly forgets about said syllabus, and just rambles on for the entire semester. The first month or so, we relearned basic circuits...which he did teach us some kind of helpful technics. Then it was just random information that was either so far over our heads (PHD or +30 years of experience needed), totally out of left field (he seems to really like solar panels), or entirely too basic (how to row reduce a matrix). I learned next to nothing, even though I generally try and eek every bit of knowledge out of classes. There was no homework collected, and the homework he gave us was one of the three options listed above. You might as well go take a test in some random class on exam days because you have about as good a chance of being prepared for a random test as you would Grady's. The good news is your grades don't really matter, as long as you are respectful of him and don't goof off in class you'll get an A. It's the most oblivious grading system I've ever experienced. Thank goodness the lab with this class is very involved and difficult because otherwise I would have flunked power electronics. You'll learn a couple of practical things in the lab portion of Grady's class, but other than that there's hardly any substance.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - TAKE GRADY AS A PROFESSOR!!!! Some people don't like him but he's so sweet and his grades are so easy. Grades are mostly tests every other Friday (one exception when he missed two days but he had a grad student teach). Homework load starts out regularly but then it completely stops after first few weeks and turns into more outside labs which are actually fun since its hands on. He communicates only by email but he does a good job keeping students updated. He lets you redo most tests either if the whole class doesn't get it (just correct it) or if you talk to him he will help you understand it before doing a redo. I would definitely recommend him as a prof!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - Dr. Grady is an incredibly easy teacher. He class is also a complete waste of time. If you do take him, do not buy the book. I threw away $150 buying the engineering book which was never used.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - Dr. Grady is one of the worst teachers for this course. There is no doubt that he is extremely smart in Electrical Engineering. He would be better teaching upper level courses. But for 1301, he is terrible. He does not follow the book, and does everything that the other classes dont. You dont do really any homework and you can get away with it. However, when you move into 1302, you will learn about stuff that for other students is new but for you you already know. But, I would not take him. DO NOT  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1301 - Dr. Grady is very down-to-Earth, knowledgable, and treats his students like adults, which is more than a lot of professors in a lot of 1301 classes across the academic disciplines can manage. He is *super* disorganized, though. It was difficult at times to know what was expected of us, and it took forever to get feedback from past assignments. The worst part, though, was he didn't ever work his problems out before he came to class. I mean, five or six times, easily, we lost half an hour or more to him working a problem wrong a first (and maybe second) time before he got his bearings (if he got his bearings). It may have been valuable, though, seeing the real "engineering process" manifest itself a few times on the projector screen. All in all, he brought up interesting anecdotes and his notebook expectations helped me to build habits that are still helping me in my classes. If you're not very organized and need to be told what to do every day, maybe don't take his class. Otherwise ... have fun?  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:EGR 1301 - I had Grady for intro to engineering and it was really easy. There were quizzes every Friday which were only 1 question, a midterm, and a final. We were allowed to use our notebooks on all of them. If you take your notes, do all of your work, and tape his handouts in your notebook, you'll be golden for the exams. There were a few projects we did throughout the semester which the other sections didn't get to do, and they were pretty cool. Grady is a super boring lecturer, but if you can sit through his class and pay attention, it'll be really easy. Easiest intro to engineering professor at Baylor.  - Grade In Class:A
