*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1201 - Don't be on Count Lail's list...other than that, he's great and hilarious - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - Just don't be on the Lail List. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - Just don't be on the Lail list. This guy is an icon. 10/10 recommend - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1201 - This class is required for all business majors, and Dr. Lail is the only one that teaches it. The class itself is pretty standard, though there are a lot of parts to it. You have 3 LockDown Browser exams (last one counts as the final), 14 open book open note quizzes (25% of the grade), and 14 simulation style assignments (20% of the grade). Participation is worth around 10% of the grade, and it's made up of both the TopHat questions during the lectures, and the questions imbedded into the textbook reading (only 5 per section). The class is only 2 credits and meets only 2 times a week, with one day being a lecture class and the other being a guest speaker. The exams include questions from the guest speakers sessions, which is kinda annoying but makes sense since it gets you to pay attention (plus the speakers are sometimes pretty interesting). Worth mentioning that sometimes the exams and quizzes can can be a little tricky when it comes to the wording of the questions, but it's still certainly very doable if you're careful. While it does look like a lot at the beginning, you take it in chunks so it really isn't that bad. Dr. Lail does a good job of balancing it all out and making sure you don't forget when things are due. He does a great job of making himself available during office hours, and you can always shoot him an email if you have questions. Best of all, he's a very strong Christian, and that really does go a long way when he does his lectures. All in all, this is not a difficult class. As long as you do the work and turn it in on time, you'll be just fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - LOVE THIS GUY! THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! I have never met such a compassionate and intelligent man of such a sophisticated character before in the entirety of my life. And therefore, it is my obligation to post this comment to show my everlasting gratitude. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1201 - Lail is a great professor, with a manageable workload for a 2-credit hour class. His guest speakers can be hit or miss, but they are always interesting. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - BRADLEY IS THE BEST EVER! HE IS AMAZING AND PAY ATTENTION AND ATTEND EVERY CLASS! HE IS A GIFT FROM THE MOST HIGH. HE IS VERY FUNNY AND HIS CLASS IS AMAZING DUE TO THE GUEST SPEAKERS, NO FINAL, AND ok exams. I WISH HE TAUGHT MORE CLASSES - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - Dr. Lail is a great professor! While there are weekly quizzes with readings and internship simulations, they are really easy as long as you put in the work. While tests can be tricky they aren't terrible and an A in this class is totally doable. Dr. Lail is also very open about his faith and he is very kind and always willing to help students in any way possbile. If you have the chance to have Dr. Lail for 1201, take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS1201 - Dr. Lail is my favorite professor at Baylor. He's great at engaging students in his lectures and includes tons of relevant examples in his slides. Part of your grade is participation so def pay attention in class cause he'll have you answer a couple questions on TopHat. He posts all his presentations on the online textbook site and the tests are almost exactly the same as the lectures/reading. They're take-home tests around 40 MC questions. There's always a couple about the guest speakers so you have to pay attention to them but they're all really interesting! He usually has an online quiz and Stukent assignment due on Sundays but they have no time limit and are pretty easy. Definitely take Dr. Lail he's so chill! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - Dr. Lail is a good professor, but he's not for everyone. His class is easy but if you get behind, there is no way you're going to catch up. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS 1201 - One of the nicest professors at Baylor. Take him for intro business, really enjoyed his class - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1201 - I pushed really hard for this intro class, it should've been an easy A, and from talking with upperclassmen it was, now we have tests, quizzes, and a simulation internship. They are not all hard per se but his tests are a bit tricky. I studied hard to get an A but ended with a B+ so a little upset. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1201 - Harder than I thought it was going to be. He did call me out in class kind of embarrassing but whatever - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1201 - This is for BUS 1201. Dr. Lail is an amazing professor! TAKE HIM if you want a professor who is not ashamed to share his faith. Go to his office hours. The exams are tuff if you don't study. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2304 - AHH, Accounting is the bane of my existence- so take this review with a grain of salt, bc maybe its my hatred for the subject. This teacher was not useful at all- his review and homework sheets did nothing for me, and when I went to him to get help, he would tell me "to figure it out". With a lot of personal studying, and getting help with upperclassman, I got a B- but it was unreasonably hard with no help from the teacher who seems not to care about his students. He would cancel and it was just not a good thing. My mental health was in the drain and had so much anxiety. TAKE DON- his videos helped me so much! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ACC 2303 - The most genuine guy that cares for your success. Takes the time during class to explain the material in different ways and takes questions frequently. Always applies the material in fun ways and keeps class entertaining. Homework can be very time consuming but if you get a 90 or above on every assignment you get a 5pt bonus on every test, which trust YOU WILL NEED IT. Definitely go to office hours, he is so kind and will explain everything to assure you know your stuff. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ACC 3303 - I LOVED having Lail for AIS. Take him if you are able too! He is also the Accounting department chair so he’s always super busy and traveling but he really cares about his students and wants you to do well in his class and in your career. Some of the projects are a pain to do. The quizzes are usually pretty easy as long as you understand what is going on in class and most of the exams are a reasonable test of what you covered in class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ACC 3303 - Best professor to take for AIS, easy grader on the Access Group project and other assignments. Exams are easy, average is usually around 87, 88. Very good at explaining the material, very helpful during office hours! Take him if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3303/2304 - Seriously the best professor I've had! Is very clear on the expectations he has for the course and as use as a student. You can tell he genuinely cares for everyone in his class. Extremely helpful in office hours. Great at explaining material! If he is an option, take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3303 - Lail is the BEST. He is extremely knowledgeable, and truly wants to help you do well in your career. The projects are time consuming, and he's a tough grader because he wants to train you for the workplace. He cares about his students and wants them to be successful. Definitely recommend. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ACC 3303 - DR. LAIL ROCKS!! He is hands down my favorite professor I have ever had at Baylor. He is such a nice guy and he is hilarious. He cares a lot about his students and is willing to help you at all hours even if he is out of town. He is extremely helpful in office hours. Dr. Lail truly wants all of his students to succeed. He is great at teaching the material, even though it is a difficult class. The tests, quizzes, and projects are challenging and time consuming but this is the accounting core so get used to it. His test averages are significantly higher than Dr. Hurtt’s even though they are the EXACT same test. 10/10 recommend Dr. Lail and you would be crazy not to take him. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:AIS - Lail is the absolute best! Overall, I was not too fond of the class material itself, but Dr. Lail really did make it fun overall. There isn't a huge amount of homework, but the projects can be overwhelming. That being said, it's the accounting core so I wouldn't expect anything to be a breeze. He is extremely helpful in his office hours and has them scheduled at manageable times. The tests are all difficult, but the second one is the toughest; you will need to study well in advance for them all. Reading the book is also necessary because you will be tested on things that will not be gone over in class, but they typically are things like vocab words. Great guy that makes semi-dull material interesting. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lail. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3303 - Yes, Lail is the man. Without a doubt the greatest professor I've ever had. Honestly just ticked that he doesn't have over a 90 rating. Yeah the class is hard. Yeah there's a lot of work. Welcome to the accounting core. If that scares you, you might as well drop it now because this is just the beginning. There is absolutely no better person to start out the core with. Lail is a funny dude. He's super chill. I was never once scared to go in his classroom or office. He will not make you feel stupid at any point. He cares about his students and will do whatever it takes to help you. He can be a stickler and won't cut you much slack, but once again, welcome to accounting. I will recommend him until my dying day. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ACC 3303 - Lail is the man. Doesn't take things too seriously, loves teaching, and loves the Lord. Should for sure take him for the beginning of the stressful accounting core. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ACC 3303 - By far my favorite professor I have had a Baylor. Dr. Lail is an amazing person and teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed going to his class everyday! If you talk to him and go to his office hours he is so funny and such a great guy. I am getting a B in the class solely because of my lack of studying. If you try in his class and go to his office when you are confused he will absolutely help you and you will get an A. TAKE LAIL FOR AIS! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3303 - Dr. Lail is the best. He's so funny and a great teacher. He gives a few challenging projects with Access and Excel (which you definitely need to know as an accounting student) and even though he kind of intimidated me at first, he's very helpful if you go to his office. This class was great. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:AIS - Dr. Lail is incredible!! He really wants his students to succeed. The class starts off pretty easy and then really ramps up quickly. He is great at explaining topics that many students in the class have never leaned before and truly cares that his students learn the material. Dr. Lail is definitely the professor to take for AIS! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ACC 3303 - AIS-Dr. Lail is definitely the guy you want to take for this class. It's a very weird class compared to financial and managerial which are the only ones you take before you're required to do AIS. Dr. Lail does a pretty decent job explaining everything, it's an incredibly fair workload, and he offers some extra credit and does a good job at keeping students engaged. From what I saw/heard from peers in Hurtt's class, Dr. Lail's students were much more content with being in his class than Hurtt's students were. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:ACC3303 - Lail is such an awesome guy and makes each class fun. There really isn't a lot of work to prepare for each of the classes but the tests are really tough. You could study a ton and still not get an A on the test because the questions were so in depth. Fortunately there were a lot of other parts of the class that factored in to your final grade, not just the tests. There were 3 excel tests, a database project, a cyberprotect activity, homework, quizzes and a quickbooks project. It is attainable to get an A in all those other aspects but you'll have to spend a lot of time on them. Overall I would recommend Lail just be prepared to spend some time on this class. I got a B but I probably spent less than three hours a week on this class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ACC 3303 - AIS. Professor Lail is incredible. He makes the material seem so easy and he truly cares for his students. He would always ask me how I was doing after class and make sure everything was going ok, which was so nice! The material in AIS isn't hard, but it is by no means a blow off class. The vocal is so important! The Access project at the end of the year is fun, but watch out for the Excel Testing and make sure you're really prepared before you sign up to take the tests. There's not much homework, so make sure you do all the suggested problems because it's better to understand the material sooner rather than the night before the test! The material is easy, but the tests can be tricky so make sure you are over prepared. The final is harder than you would expect, so don't count on it to raise your grade! - Grade In Class:A
