Comments:1302 - Señora Jones is the best professor I have ever had. Her teaching ability is far beyond what I have ever experienced. She understands how to communicate effectively to her students. She uses an out of the ordinary teaching style that actually engages the people in her class. She challenges every student in their abilities of grammar, writing, and speaking. She makes it easy to learn. She is personable and always there for you. Her class did not have a heavy workload, which made learning in her class easier. The projects and exams challenged us in the right ways. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you take any of her classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - I love her so much. She makes you watch 9 episodes of a show in Spanish and write about it which takes a lot more of your time than you think. However, I never submitted them in time and she gave me full credit and is SUPER forgiving. She is a funny, kind professora! Take her if you can, just be prepared to watch shows in Spanish nine times (so nine hours worth of dedication plus the writing overview).  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2310 - I had her in lab and ended with a very high A, but it was a TON of work. I found it was a burden to spend hours each week on a lab that I knew other people didn't have to do. I am all for hard work, but I needed to focus my time on studies within my major. If you're an education major or love working with people, then take this class! But if not, you may want to reconsider. Prof Jones is a very fun and encouraging person, but this class was not my favorite.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - I took her for Spanish 2310 Lab. I would definitely recommend others to take this class because she really cares about her students and their experience in her class. I ended the semester with a very high A. This is definitely the most work I have ever had to do for a Spanish lab here at Baylor. Every week there would be 3-4 assignments due, most of the assignments were very easy but could be difficult to find on canvas. I would suggest checking canvas every couple of days to make sure she didn't add an assignment last minute. She makes this class SUPER DOABLE and VERY FUN! The presentations were very simple and she very clearly laid out everything we needed to include. One thing that frustrated me was that she doesn't respond to emails, only text messages. This felt weird to me, but I eventually got used to it. The final oral interview was very low-stakes group work and everyone did very well on it. TAKE HER! She is so easy and makes the class so doable!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301/1302/2310 - She is actually the best overall professor I've had at Baylor. Spanish can be an extremely difficult subject to take here, however she is very helpful and has a flexible teaching style. There are quizzes every two weeks over each chapter instead of tests--this allows for less content to be learned. In other classes, I've heard that the tests cover multiple chapters and this can be extremely difficult. She is super understanding and truly cares if you learn the material!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - I have never in my life enjoyed a spanish class until I took this one. Dr. Jones is everything you want in a professor. She knows what she's talking about, she is kind and understanding, and she makes learning spanish fun and practical. The assignments/workload is no more than the average spanish class, Vistas every other day a quiz over every chapter, but we did not take any large tests. By far my favorite class and favorite professor this semester.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 Lab - Dr. Jones on the whole is an awesome Spanish lab professor who was the reason I got an A in lecture. Though she, in my opinion, gave me an unfair grade for the keynote presentation, all her other grading was extremely fair, and I got out of lab with a 98%. I would just go talk to her before you make the keynote presentation to see what she is looking for.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 1301 - Sra. Jones' course is easy and she tries her best to make the activities and vocabulary fun. She is also willing to push her students and wants them to get the most out of their Spanish classes here at Baylor. She also does not give tests because it does not help you learn a language when you just memorize a lot of stuff then dump it the next day which makes so much sense to me. However, there are 7 quizzes which are not to difficult. She is very kind hearted and loves her students. I will say though that it is important to pay attention in class because she takes notice when someone is too talkative or always on their phone, but overall she is very kind. I am taking her again for the next level of Spanish and Id suggest that you do too.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 2310 - TAKE SRA. JONES!! I cannot stress to you enough how easy your Spanish life will be if you take her. I had no Spanish in high school AND I'm Pre-medicine, so I really needed an easy Spanish class that I didn't have to worry about. THIS IS IT!! She is so energetic, bubbly, and sweet. This is the only professor rating I have ever given and it's only because she is so great. She truly cares about her students and their success, and she wants you to learn in creative ways. There are a lot of in-class activities that make the class very fun and interesting, and the class time seems to goes by very fast (unlike your typical lecture class). I don't know why she has such a low score on BuBooks. I made a high A and this was the class I studied the least for. Almost everyone in the class got an A. She is a very reasonable grader, too. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE CLASS: Let me break down the class for you. HOMEWORK: There is online homework on Vistas almost every night, and you get 6 attempts for almost all of the assignments. You can knock it out in an hour. Easy peasy. I usually do it when I am watching Netflix. If you need help, you can use online sources like SpanishDict or whatever you want. QUIZZES: There is a quiz for each chapter. Know your vocabulary and be familiar with the grammar. Apart from that, it's all multiple choice! And I mean EASY multiple choice. At the end of the quiz, there is an essay question (not very long). She gives you the prompt during the class before the quiz, so you can prepare something, memorize it, and just regurgitate it onto the quiz. She even makes some of the quizzes take-homes! EXAMS: For the 2 Unit Exams, the class before the exam is a review session where she gives you the answers for the culture and "fotonovela" (video) portion of the exam. She will also give you a review for the grammar and vocabulary part of the exam, and the answer key will be on Canvas. Review these the night before the exam and you should be fine. She literally just copies and pastes the questions from the reviews onto the Exam. There is a listening portion of the exam, but it is not difficult and is only ten questions. Other than that, all of the questions on the test are given to you the class before the test! These are the EASIEST tests I have EVER taken at Baylor. WRITTEN EXAMS: There are also 2 written exams. They are like the essay questions on the quizzes, except they are longer and there are several options for prompts that you can choose from. For these written exams, you need to know your vocabulary and grammar pretty well. For the first written exam, she did not give us the prompt beforehand so it was a little more difficult, but the material was easier. We also had class in a computer lab on the 3rd floor of Draper, so you didn’t have to write it by hand. For the second written exam, the material was much more difficult so she gave us the exam as a take-home assignment, which was AMAZING. And she is a very fair grader when it comes to essays (and every assignment you do). She knows that Spanish most likely isn't your first language, so she grades very fair. ORAL EXAMS: These are very easy. They are only about 5-10 minutes long and you just go to her office and talk in Spanish. She gives you the “prompts” on what to talk about beforehand, and you only have to focus on vocabulary and grammar for one chapter. A lot of people in my class didn’t even prepare for them and ended up getting a 100. If you want to prepare for them, just write out a little paragraph and memorize it to show that you put forth the effort. You should get a 100 if you do this. PROJECTS: There are three projects where you record yourself talking in Spanish for a minute and then post them to Canvas. You cannot read from a paper, but you can just memorize something. She gives you the prompt on Canvas under Announcements. Prepare something, memorize it, and then either record yourself speaking with your phone or your computer and then upload the video. You also need to comment on 2 other people’s videos. Once again, not very hard. Put in a little effort and you should do great. They are also due at 11:59 pm. COMPOSITIONS: Remember that essay portion of the quizzes? This is what that is. The written portion of the quizzes will be written by hand. When she grades the quizzes and hands them back to you, she will have corrected your essay. What you need to do it take out the essay page of the quiz and take it home, correct it and type it up (quadruple-spaced, 12 pt. font). Then staple the typed version to the hand-written quiz version and turn it in the next class. CHARLA/TUTORING: There is an outside-of-class requirement. Just go to Charla, Tutoring, Café Social, or Tertulia once a month for 30 minutes (4 times total) and you’re good to go. BINDER: You need a one-inch 3-ring binder for this class. Don’t worry about buying a separate notebook for this class; you won’t use it. There is a document on canvas that tells you how to set up your binder (“Cuaderno”) because it will be graded twice during the semester (they are due the same day as the Unit Exams and she just grades them while you are taking your test.) I suggest that you get a folder that you can use to put assignments that don’t go in the folder and some notebook paper. As long as you keep organized throughout the semester and include all the necessary items listed in the document, you should get a 100. NETFLIX: This is a requirement that you need for your binder. What you do is watch a Spanish show (not a movie) on Netflix, Hulu, etc., print out the “Comprension y Cultura Netflix” document on Canvas, and fill out the questions in Spanish. If you need suggestions for Spanish shows, she also has a document for that on Canvas. Personally, I liked “Gran Hotel” on Netflix; it’s a drama/murder mystery. You will need to complete a total of 8 of the “Comprension” documents (1 document per episode) and put them in your folder. Four are due with the first binder grade (the day of Unit Exam 1) and the other four are due with the second binder grade (the day of Unit Exam 2). FINALS: There are two parts to the final; a listening portion and a written portion. The listening portion is just like the listening portion of the Unit Exams, except it is easier. Sra. Jones reads out 3 different passages, and all you have to do is answer the 5 multiple-choice questions that go with each passage. The questions are in chronological order with the passage that she is reading, and the answers are VERY obvious if you listen. Just in case you miss something, she reads the passage twice aloud. You take this on the last day of class. There is also a written portion that is just like the written exams. This is taken during the regular final exam time. It is much longer than the regular written exams, but she gives you everything you need to know before the exam and thoroughly goes over everything you need to write. She gives you the prompts, how to answer them correctly, etc. I highly recommend you prepare something before the exam so that you have an easier time writing your essay. HELPFUL COMMENTS FOR THE COURSE: 1. Start the projects a little early. If you are a procrastinator like me, at least write out what you are going to say (in Spanish) the day before you record the project. Whenever you are recording, DO NOT READ from the paper. She will know. Everyone will know. Try to memorize and make sense of what you are saying. That’s why you need to start early. Also, it takes a while to upload the video to Canvas so give yourself time before it is due. 2. KEEP EVERYTHING! Not every assignment she hands to you goes in your binder, but make sure that you keep all of your papers and assignments in a folder or somewhere where you can easily find them. 3. To make typing up your compositions and written exams a lot easier, google shortcuts to symbols like á, ñ, and ¡ so that you don’t spend so much time inserting symbols. I really hoped this helped you. You will learn a lot from this class because Sra. Jones has a way of making you learn without even realizing you are learning something. Good luck, and I hope you take her course!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1401 - Señora Jones is the best! I’m not sure why her score is so low because she is amazing!! She really cares about her students. Theres online homework every night but its actually so helpful. Quizzes and tests are so easy. For the oral exams, she gives you a list of questions to prepare yourself. Easiest class I had all year!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1402 - Profesota Jones is a great person to have for Spanish. She is always mixing up class activities, and bringd lots of enthusiasm. She is happy to help in office hours, and really wants you to get your head around the materials.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1401 - Senora Jones was great! Do your work and show up to class and you will be fine. Exams are only worth like 30% of your grade. So do well on your quizzes, online hmw, and oral exams. All of these things are VERY easy. She gives reviews that look exactly like her exams. TAKE HER.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1401 - Profesora Jones is one of the best spanish teachers I have ever had. I literally enjoy going to her class everyday. She is so energetic and full of life that there's no way you can sit in her class and not absorb her positive energy. Her workload is average. We had daily online assignments, quizzes, and tests. Definitely nothing you can not handle. Her tests are super easy, she gives a study guide that looks just like the test. Her quizzes are a little bit harder, but most of them are take home quizzes. She is also a very busy lady so during the semester she cancels class a lot. I'd say we have had like 2 weeks worth of cancelled class, which is about 14 days since we see her everyday.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1401 - Nice lady, but she plays favorites. If she doesn't like you, she will make that clear and you will definitely do worse in the class. Easy tests though because she gives a review just like it. Daily online HW.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1401 - Señora is so energetic, so peppy, so encouraging. Her class is super easy so I can see why people think Spanish down the road is hard. We never learn anything during class, it’s all expected to be done on your own. We just do activities and worksheets. Some of the activities are actually fun, but a lot of them feel like a waste of time. There is online homework every night which is incredibly annoying but it is helpful in practicing the information. She will count off points from your grade if you miss class, so try your hardest to be there every day. For tests - Señora gives you a review packet and all the grammar and vocab questions from the test are in the packet. And if that isn’t easy enough, the entire test is multiple choice. The hard part of the tests are the Fotonovela and Culture sections. Culture is random Spanish facts from the textbook and for Fotonovela you have to remember the characters’ names, what they said, what they did, and when. It’s so incredibly annoying, stupid, and has no relevance to learning Spanish. The quizzes are really easy (multiple choice) and she tells you how to write the synthesis the day before. There’s no excuse not to do well since the format is so incredibly easy. Señora Jones really wants you to do well. She’ll help you in any way that she can and she genuinely cares about her students. She’s such a fun person, so it’s awesome to get to know her outside of the context of Spanish class. She’s not a pushover though, just a warning – she will flip out on you if you do something to make her mad. I highly recommend Señora Jones if you want an EASY EASY EASY A! If you are only taking one or two semesters of Spanish, take Jones!! But if you are taking 3, 4, or more, then DON'T TAKE HER! She will definitely not prepare you for Spanish down the road.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1401 - She is a judgmental person but not a bad teacher. Runs a strict classroom but doesn't assign to much homework. Tests are kind of hard and quizzes are easy.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1402 - Señora Jones is absolutely amazing. She does give a lot of online homework sometimes but it is definitely do-able. She cares about her students and really wants then to succeed. She is funny, laid back, and an amazing teacher. I wish I could take her for Spanish 3.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Dra. Jones is one of the best Spanish professors here at Baylor, and I would argue that she cares more than most as well. First of all, she has a very active, positive personality and a great attitude, and is more than happy to help you with the class. She's naturally jubilant and it's hard not to like her. The class itself isn't particularly easy, like any Spanish class here, but she makes it fun and painless. The binder organization grade was super tedious, and the homework can be overwhelming, but the tests are MORE than fair and doable and the activities in class really make time fly. She does remove points for lack of attendance or being late, so that's kind of a shame, but the final project is to make a board game, which I thought was really fun. Overall, great professor, minor inconveniences, moderately difficult to make an A (93% or bust).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Profesora Jones is lovely and peppy and helpful to her students! The coursework has a lot of culture, so just study super hard for her unit tests as those are mostly culture oriented. Go through all the pages she has written down on the study guides. Her tests and quizzes are fair. Just beware she takes attendance every day and an unexcused absence takes off 10 points and one tardy takes off 5 points off your attendance grade. In the end, when you're fighting point to point for your A, your attendance grade will prove helpful to your grade.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Professor Jones is awesome! She makes this class fun and has a lot of activities to help us understand the material. This course is very culture-oriented as opposed to grammar in other levels. She gives a quiz over every chapter of the book and 2 tests (Ch 1-3) and (Ch 4-6) which covered mostly the culture and vocab. There are a lot of group projects and assignments that allow for a ton of opportunities to get points. She is very enthusiastic about what she teaches, which makes this class fun. I would highly recommend Professor Jones!  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2015-05-02

Comments:2310 - She gives way too much work and the class is more about culture and reading than learning grammar and vocab. Several parts of your grade will be subjective and you have to go to class to get participation points. She's not that great at teaching and treats people like middle schoolers... Supersite HW everyday, quizzes and tests are not too bad, and Comprehension HW is long and tedious. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR 2310.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1401 - I took Senora Jones during my first semester as a freshman. I had never taken spanish so naturally I was terrified about spanish, but Senora was so incredibly helpful and fun, so much so that i actually looked forward to going to her class. She is incredibly animated and friendly and is an amazing teacher and she just made class so much fun. Workload is pretty average, its mostly online, and she never counted the penalty if you happened to miss a section the day it was due! her quizzes are kinda hard, but her tests are suer easy. DO THE TEST STUDY GUIDE...ITS LITERALLY THE TEST! All in all Senora jones is freaking amazing. TAKE HER IF YOU GET THE CHANCE YA'LL.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2015-01-30

Comments:1401 - Señora Jones is AWESOME. She is very helpful in class and out of class. She keeps her class interesting with a variety of activities to learn the language. I had no previous background in Spanish, not even one class, and I am slowly getting the language. There is homework every night, and a couple extra activities, but it really helps you learn. You learn 10 chapters, each chapter has a quiz which is made up from the grammar and vocabulary used in that chapter and every three chapters there is a unit test consisting of all three units. The quizzes are kinda hard, but the unit test she gives a study guide that is basically the test. You have two oral exams, which can be kinda hard, but just practice. She is very personable and gets to know you and is willing to help you out. Super friendly- TAKE HER!  - Grade In Class:B+
