Comments:1305 - DO NOT take her!!! Worst professor ever! She never entered grades, it's the day before our final and I still don't know my grade in the class. I have learned nothing due to the fact that she gets off topic and we always end up getting into very controversial topics. Multiple times she has pushed an assignment back due to her cancelling class so many times and then will change the due date again to an earlier date. Tests are all vocab so you HAVE to read the book and she also makes you read articles and never has a discussion about them in class but still puts questions about them on the test.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Intro to Sociology - Don't do it. Drop the class if you have to. I wish I would have. She can't teach at all, super unorganized, gets off topic, never finishes her thoughts, and is not reliable. At the beginning of the semester it was super unclear what our assignments were going to be and how we needed to study for that class. We had random quizzes and we never even knew what chapter we were on because she didn't follow her own syllabus. She never put grades in until the end of the semester so no one had any idea how they were doing in the class. She blames all of this on the fact that she has another job outside of being a professor at Baylor so obviously her students came second. Save yourself the headache.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:sociology - Do not take her!!!! She is the worst. Class is pointless. All you do is talk about things that get so far off topic you forget what you're learning. She hasn't submitted any grades, and we take our final next week. Her outside job is way more important to her than her students. To pass the test you have to really know the book.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - The semester that I took her, she had another full time job that completely interfered with her work at Baylor. The week before finals, we had 2 of 19 grades put into Canvas, and when she was asked about it, told us that we should know how we are doing in the class based on what kind of work we put into the assignments (????). She is the worst professor I have taken thus far at Baylor and I completely do not recommend her. Most of class time was spent talking vaguely about the issues in the chapter we were on, but the conversation often got skewed beyond what we were actually supposed to be learning for the tests.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Professor Attas is a super sweet lady and she loves hearing your comments in class. She is very objective and challenges you to provide reason/ opinions of the issues going on in society. As far as teaching goes.. she is horrible. There is no way to make an A on the test unless you want to memorize the book. She doesn't ever teach, class time is entirely dedicated to discussion, i have maybe three pages of notes for that class. We are very behind on everything as far as the syllabus goes and she never submits grade and when she does they are messed up. Case and point: my grade for the majority of the semester was 187%... whatever that means. The girl that sat behind me said that she never showed up to the meetings that she scheduled with multiple students. She randomly cancels class and never tells you when upcoming assignments are due. I would not recommend this class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Get out of her class if you can. Does not teach and never puts in grades. Super nice lady but it doesn't make up for being such a poor professor. Not worth your time and stress. Tests are impossible unless you want to memorize the text book. Good luck.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - does not teach. this class was a blow off. I would have skipped everyday if i didn't already have classes in the same building. she is SO rude; the most inconsiderate teacher I've ever had. class time is more like play time and social hour. tests were easy and nothing from class will be on the tests because she doesn't teach at all. waste of time.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro - WORST PROFESSOR. This. class. is. a. joke. By far the worst class I've yet to take in college. If you're just looking to get an A and don't care about learning the material, by all means take this course with Attas. Otherwise, if you want to understand the material and put your tuition to use, find another professor. First of all, she's completely disorganized. We don't follow the syllabus, we've been behind since day one, and nothing productive gets done in class. She "teaches" like it's debate. We only discuss. We don't learn, there aren't any powerpoint 95% of the time, and our discussions end up being irrelevant to the chapter material. I can thank myself for the grade in this course because I taught myself everything, not her. The tests are only vocabulary identification (multiple choice), and again, class material is not relevant to the tests. She requires you to read a massive amount out of the book plus ridiculously awful articles online that are NOT Baylor approved. Terrible professor teaching a potentially interesting course.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1304 - Don't take her! I went to her office hours (actually the TA's office hours) to review my test, and we found out that many of the correct answers were actually incorrect (we looked in the book). If she made the test then she obviously did not put a lot of thought into it. Also, don't sleep in her class because she will count you absent. She is passive aggressive and talked more about her divorce that actually taught. She is disorganized- for extra credit, she never posted the due date until the day AFTER it was due. Attendance is a part of your grade which is absolutely ridiculous because you learn everything from the book. This class was a waste of time. Please take another teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 1305 - She is such a sweet professor. Her way of teaching is relating issues going on in our lives with the study of sociology and how they relate. There was never a dull moment in this class and I was always excited to show up and see what that day was going to be like. Her tests are a little challenging but if you do the reading, you will be golden.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:SOC 1305 - I love Dr. Attas! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She is also very important in the Waco community, as she works with the non-profit Avance Waco. It is helpful to attend lecture in order to know what areas of the textbook to focus on when reading it on your own. With that said, it is essential to read the textbook to get an A in the class. The chapter reviews in the back of each chapter are really helpful when studying for the tests. It's easy to gain participation points by raising your hand and simply sharing your opinion every once in awhile. There are only four homework assignments all semester, which really isn't bad. Basically, attend lecture, read the textbook, and participate, and you'll get your A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Attis sucks but take her if you want an easy class. Basically no homework, I think I did 4 assignments all semester. She doesn't teach, she just asks us questions and talks about her divorce the whole time. The class was extremely painful to sit through and a waste of time. I ended up just using her class as a study hall. When you sleep in you're in no rush to hurry to her class because you know you're not missing anything. But that made her class kinda easy, just know the different functions for her tests (conflict, functionilsit, symbolism, ect.) and you'll be fine.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - I really enjoyed this class for the course itself. Ms. Attas, however, did not teach it well. All we do in class is discuss her personal life and talk in small groups. We once had a class where she asked people to discuss different examples of crime they had witnessed...and this went on for about 30 minutes. She has you do pointless in-class activities that are not on the test and lets you leave class early very often. You could miss every class and do just as well on tests as people who go to class, however you will get graded low in participation. I would switch out of this class if you can but if you're stuck in it, her first two tests were extremely. The third was really difficult even though she did not cover any of the material that was on it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Soc 1305 - Sociology is something I'm very interested in, but taking this course was awful. Attas mostly lectures for the entire period and expects the 70+ students in the class to discuss with her. She grades on participation and its absurd because the class is so big. During her lectures, you don't learn ANYTHING. She talks about her personal life the entire time. You can basically not go to class and not miss anything at all. She really doesn't know how to teach....she does this as a side job. Her availability was also not great. She doesn't have office hours and only offer to meet up with appointment off campus...whenever you ask for help, she's also very pretentious and doesn't give direct answers. To get a good grade in the class, you have to read your textbook very well!! In all, don't take her. there are so many other GREAT sociology professors!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - This was my least favorite class, which sucks because I actually enjoy sociology. If you want to learn more about her personal life, then stay in her class. Her class discussions in class are really irrelevant to the course. I can't say I learned too much from her during the lecture. You definitely need to read the book to do well on the test. There isn't really a point to go to class. She doesn't go over too much during the lecture. She isn't very nice when you talk to her too. Oh, not to mention, she never replies to your email. If you want to get something changed, you have to ask her TA. If you take her, just read the book and you'll be fine.   - Grade In Class:A
