*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:BUS1350 - This class, in my opinion, is pretty boring so I think that will stay the same no matter what professor you take. It a very average class, if you need to take this class I would probably go with Professor Risinger, I've heard bad things about the other professors. He is not an amazing professor but he is your best option and sometimes he can be funny. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Highly recommend taking Risinger. From what I've heard, he's better than the other professors. Very funny older guy with a great sense of humor. He's also very good at explaining excel concepts and giving you material to prepare you for his exams, all of which feel very fair. The homeworks are not that long and the workload is average at worse. Definitely one of my fav professors at Baylor - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Professor Risinger is honestly a fine professor, there isn't exactly any good professors for Excel so if you have to take him, it's not the end of the world. However, he is VERY pessimistic about how his students will do and will constantly hate on the class dispite the majority of the class doing just fine. His tests are very hard, and a lot of the questions are just to trick you instead of actually testing you on Excel. Overall I would take him again, but he is not one of my favorites for sure. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Interesting class. I hadn't touched excel in my life before this class so I did feel behind compared to others in the class. HW was tedious, and sometimes took forever if you got stuck. Exams were ok, not easy, overall its one of those classes where its good to already know the basics. I learned a good bit, but I felt like Risinger sometimes only touched on something once and expected us to remember it for the test. I was in a mix of confusion and somewhat understanding during the semester. The tests are quirky, the simulation questions are right from the practices, so do those to prepare, the multiple choice questions you just have to know it, so those killed me. Yeah, idk, just a average class ig. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS 1350 - This class is an Excel based class, you learn the ins and out of how to use this software. It's a very hands-on class, you use the classroom computers along with this software called MindTap. Much of the class is following along on your computer with what he's doing on his. From what I've heard from friends, none of the professors that teach this class are good. There's only a handful of decent professors, like Risinger, and then a number of very bad professors. Risinger really does love teaching, and he definitely knows his way around Excel. I can guarantee you that you will leave his class having learned how to properly use Excel. For work, there is an assignment and project for each module, and there are 10 modules. Additionally, there is a training for each module that you 100% should complete many times prior to the exam days. You get 2 attempts to submit every assignment, and 2 attempts to submit every project. You have an unlimited amount of times to complete the trainings, and he locks them on the day of the exams. The only knock I have on Risinger is his exams. There are a total of 2 exams plus the final. I'd say around 40% of the exam are these simulation questions where you actually do stuff in Excel, and the remaining 60% are these true/false and multiple choice questions. Now its these MCQs that really make the test challenging since they focus on the most niche things that you really don't need to know in order to properly use Excel. Aside from the tests though, Professor Risinger was really good at making sure everyone was one the same page and understood everything. Highly recommend taking him if you can. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - Professor Risinger really wants the best for his students in his class. Average grade is a B, probably because there are only two exams and the final, weighted 20% each. Exams are a mix of horrible multiple choice and simulation questions-if you do the trainings and review the material he puts on canvas it\\\'s not that bad, you\\\'ll pass. Average exam grades are around 75% (he\\\'ll show you the data after each exam). Homework could get long, it\\\'s following instructions to edit excel worksheets, and the cengage software can be frustrating, but you get two attempts on each assignment so you can go back and fix what you miss. I\\\'m biased in the fact that I enjoyed the material, so I enjoyed the course, but his teaching style consists of lecturing from behind two computer screens while demonstrating how to insert pivot tables and such, which can get boring. He\\\'ll slow down and redo things if you ask him to, again, great guy. Not a bad professor at all, just a boring class and ridiculously hard multiple choice questions for no reason. Incredibly easy to pass the MOS certification exam required for all freshmen after this test, I got a 920, and it\\\'s 5% of the final grade. Take him if you can. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - Drew is a great professor when it comes to learning Excel. This class is supposedly one of the harder Business classes (especially the entry-level ones) and it was not bad. I would highly recommend taking him next on the list if you can't get the professor you want first. Anyways, the class. There are 2 projects due every week that will take you from 30 minutes to an hour to complete on Excel, and it really isn't that bad. Having people you know in this class is very beneficial as you can figure things out together. One thing I will note, the tests are annoying. They are 40% simulation (actually using Excel) and 60% multiple choice / true false. This makes it very difficult. He expects us to memorize the ins and outs of Excel and the textbook. I didn't do this and passed with a B so really this is an easy class as long as you do the projects and the trainings before the tests. This is a fun class, just a little more workload and studying than I would've originally thought. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS 1350 - Very sweet guy, starburst were a dub. Do the practice and everything you will thank me later. Don't fall behind. Tests are harder than I thought they would be. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1350 - He really is the sweetest professor ever. The class isn't relatively difficult, I would just use the textbook if you're confused or get lost in class. The exams aren't too difficult to score high on, just make sure you truly understand the concepts. The homework could take some time, but it isn't too bad. If you fail or end up with a low grade, it's really on you. He makes things very clear! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1350 - He is super sweet, but the class was really really boring. He talks through everything very thoroughly, but it can get boring when he over explains certain concepts. We only had two assignments every week, and they never took too long. I will not lie, the exams were pretty difficult. An 93+ is an A, so if you want an A you will need to put in some work. His exams are 70 questions with a few simulation questions and the rest being multiple choice. I would recommend, but go into it expecting to put in some effort. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - Not a fan. Very boring. I would be lying if I said I tried very hard though. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1350 - he is a super nice dude but very unclear about instructions and is NOT understanding. i went to his office for BUS 1350 because my computer grading system counted points off my assignment even though i did it correctly, he said that if the system counts it incorrect it is wrong, which is fine but he would not let me submit it another time in order to get a higher grade. there are a million ways to do things in excel and the computer grading makes you do it a specific way, i did not do it that way and this professor did not let me submit for another attempt. also very scary, i am scared to approach him - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS 1350 - He is so sweet and really takes the time to cover the material during class. A lot of it can be confusing, but he backtracks and makes sure everyone understands it. This class will be iffy with any professor because a computer grades everything you do and it can be picky and difficult to get a good grade on the exams. He does send out extensive exam review sheets that are super helpful and cover everything you need to know, so would definitely recommend these for study. Take this man if you want the A, some laughs, and a professor that enjoys teaching and cares for their students. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS1350 - He is always willing to help you. He will stay after class and will even stop in the middle of class to make sure you are caught up. He's also very available with office hours and will sit down with you to go over everything you are struggling with. He is a really wonderful person. However, he assigns SO MUCH work. Everyone I know who has a different professor doesn't have to do nearly as much work as we are assigned. SO MUCH of his tests are multiple choice/true and false. This kills all of our grades. My friends and I can do the simulations really well but when it comes to the multiple choice/true false... they're pointless and unnecessarily difficult which tanks all of our grades. The fact that I am getting a lower grade in this class than my calculus class is insane to me! Don't get me wrong, he's a super sweet and funny guy, but I wouldn't take him again. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1350 - This class is fun! He is a good professor for this, but this class is very similar for all professors because it's basically a computer that grades you for the tests- which makes it very tedious and annoying sometimes. But I learned a lot of great fundamentals from this class with excel! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - I would recommend him over other professors that teach 1350. He is really sweet and goes over everything you need to know during class so pay attention! The exams are multiple choice and simulation, and there are three total including the final. You can tell he loves teaching and I would recommend taking him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - HE IS AMAZING!! If you pay attention in class and do all of the projects and assignments you will have a good grade just based on that. Plus cengage tell you what you did wrong. For exams just review and you will be ok. He is a great professor and he really does want students to understand the concepts and how to do excel.TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1350 - I think he's great! The course itself is pretty easy to do by yourself anyway. You'll do all of your homework on a website called Cengage. Cengage was great because when you submit homework, it shows you what you did wrong. The cool part is that you can correct what you did wrong and submit the assignment again for a better grade. Exams were straightforward and covered exactly what you do in the homework. Any time I had a question in class, he answered it and made sure I understood everything. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1350 - Professor Risinger is the GOAT. He is extremely knowledgeable of Excel and is funny, approachable, and good at explaining how and why to do something. The tests have a ton of questions, but they're pretty easy and you have plenty of time to answer them. The questions are split into types, with some being simulations where you perform a task in excel, while others are multiple choice or true/false questions asking about what something is or why you'd use it. The homework is manageable and will take an hour or two of your time per week. If you do the homework and follow along in class, you will literally get A's on every exam. For the MOS Certification Exam, if you do both practice exams multiple times (they don't take very long), you will get an A on that too. There are also a couple capstone projects throughout the semester that are essentially longer versions of the weekly homework, but these are pretty easy as well. Professor Risinger is super helpful, and even responded to an email asking for help I sent at 10 pm. He's super chill and smart, and I would absolutely take him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - YOU GUYS! TAKE HIM! Prof Risinger is so sweet, so helpful, so FUNNY. I agree with the others in that the content of Excel is sometimes boring. Tip: you NEED to pay attention in class and do the assignments in class with him...it's easy to get behind if you are on your phone during the lectures. However, every time someone in class was behind, he would so, so patiently demonstrate the task for us over and over until we got it. He WANTS us to succeed and cares about it. If I had a homework question, he would respond to my email within MINUTES with detailed answers, screenshots, follow ups. He is pretty funny as well. Always had us laughing and made a tedious subject bearable. Can't recommend him enough! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1350 - Drew is an absolute king. The content of this class is boring no matter how you spin it but Risinger makes it especially easy to get an A, and more importantly develop a solid understanding of excel. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - He is not the greatest at teaching but he's very nice and wants the best for his students. I think the material is just weird/hard to teach in general since it is Excel and we are not only learning how to do it but also the concepts behind it. The tests I believe are pretty much the same as most other professors that teach the class and they are hard to study for. The tests are made up of multiple choice questions on concepts and simulation questions were you have to perform things in excel. The simulation questions I found to be easier especially if you do the module trainings. Overall, I would take Risinger again. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - My favorite professor just because he's very chill and understanding. Not the best at teaching and does not prepare you for tests, you've got to study a lot yourself BUT he will round up and do his best to help you out grade-wise. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1305 - He's a very nice guy and really good at Excel, but not the best at teaching it. I had him in person and then online whenever COVID spread. It was okay in person, but not great online. There were three tests that were half conceptual and half performing tasks. The task portion wasn't bad, but the conceptual part was pretty hard. I had to teach myself a lot in this class, but I ended up learning a lot because of that. Overall, I've heard he's better than most professors for this class, but it's still a pretty hard class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - I loved Risinger! I had previously taken this class and had to drop because of how hard it was. Risinger made class easy! He sometimes struggles to teach the material, but he always figures it out. The assignments were easy and the tests were even easier. TAKE HIM!!! He is great at responding to emails and loves having students come to his office hours. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Nice guy, and I had a fun time with this class. The only thing is that you have to use Dell computer for your HW. If you use Mac or any other computers, it won't submit right. So you have to go to the library to do them. He does have a few different tests, which was complicated and wacky. He talks A LOT. I can see that he's trying so hard to extend every single step with In-class projects which he could finish it in 30 minutes. DO HW, this will save your grades from bad exam grades. Other than that, it was alright. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1305 - A moderately difficult class overall, tough to get an A in but not hard at all to get a B. Professor Risinger is an amazing person that truly cares about his students and was the most friendly and down to earth professor I have had so far at Baylor. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Professor Risinger's BUS 1305 class was awesome. However, it was more difficult than I thought it would be. Risinger's class has definitely gotten a little harder in the last few years. The main issue students that take his class have is that the tests are broken down and weighted poorly. Most of what's on the test isn't covered in class, but it's in the textbook (nobody read it or bought it) or on canvas. The tests are pretty difficult and they aren't curved. The final was slightly easier than the tests. The homework and in class assignments are what saved my grade. Really easy to get a B or A- in this class, but an A was pretty difficult. Risinger moved at an appropriate speed and offered to stay after each and every class to help students who missed something in the notes or students who needed clarification. He never cancelled class and utilized class time well. He prepared us adequately for the MOS certification exam by giving us time in class to study. Risinger gave an organized class schedule in the beginning of the semester and he adjusted due dates when necessary. Overall, he taught the material really well. Everything that he assigned was significant in learning information for the class. He was approachable and answered questions to the best of his ability. Excellent professor. I learned so much in the class (and got my MOS certification) but the class was not overwhelming. The material that I learned in this class is applicable to the real world. This aspect made the studying much more worthwhile. I would take Risinger again. Hopefully the way the tests are graded will be changed but an A is possible. If you can handle a 5pm class, then take him. He also brings candy every class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - The comment about four below mine that starts with "oh Drew" is so accurate. Make friends with your neighbors in that class and follow along in class when he goes through the homework. He get's off topic a lot and tells random stories about his work. You don't use the textbook at all, so don't waste your money buying it. I'm glad I took him, but don't take him if you want to be challenged and actually learn a lot about MIS. Easy A - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - SUPER EASY and SUPER NICE.Do your homework and you will get A. There is little workload. This class does not need to textbook. Just follow him in class, you will be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Drew is a very nice and funny guy and you will most likely get an A in the class is you follow along with him in class. He does most assignments with you in class so you should get a high A on what you do in class. There are some homework assignments, but they are very similar to what he does with you in class. This class is a very easy A. The tests are similar to the homework simulations and have a multiple choice for vocabulary and terms. His tests are a small portion of your grade, so even if you do poorly on those you can still get an A. I would recommend taking him if you're okay with a night class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MIS1305 - He is a wonderful man. I've actually learned a lot in his class and even though he sometimes gets off track, he knows how to use the programs in the way that they are used in the real business world. He teaches his class collaboratively and lets students give input on how things should be done. He does sometimes admit that he doesn't know how to do something, but I actually like that because then the whole class engages to figure out how to do it. I personally learn a lot better this way, as opposed to a classroom where the professor just lectures at you for an hour. I would definitely recommend taking him especially considering the horror stories I've heard about other MIS professors. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MIS 1305 - Oh Drew. He does not know much about the MIS subject...at all. He assigns HW about every class does it with you in class (he never finishes) and then you have to finish on your own. I do not think I have learned one thing from this class, but you will get an A. If what you are looking for is an A, take him (even tho it's at 5 pm). His HW (that he does in class w u) is worth 45% and tests are 10% each. He is hilarious bc half the time he doesn't know what he's doing but overall happy I took him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - TAKE HIM. He is a great teacher. His class is in the evening, but it's totally worth it. He is laid back and makes MIS easy and actually kind of fun. He does projects in class with you and the homework is just a project really similar to what he did in class. Tests aren't worth very much of your grade so it's easy to get an A if you just put in work and do all your homework. He teaches what you actually need to know in the real business world and doesn't bother with little details that don't matter. Take him if you can!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - If you don't mind a night class he's awesome. Most helpful teacher i've ever had. Does all homework assignments with you in class so you'll get an A and the exams don't affect your grade too much because they only count for 10% of your grade. Definitely would recommend taking him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Mr. Risinger is the man. I wasn't very happy about taking this class at 5pm, but he's a really funny guy and is extremely helpful. Take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Risinger was great. He only teaches one class and has another job, so he's not the typical professor. He does almost every homework assignment with you in class, so you're guaranteed to get A's on all the homework, which counts as 45% of your total grade. He changed the test format at the end of this semester, which made the tests a lot easier. He's also a really nice guy and jokes around with the class a lot. Definitely take him if you don't mind having a night class! - Grade In Class:A
