*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1401 - She is the most hype and fun teacher I have ever had! Definitely take her. The class is tough if you do not have prior Spanish experience. There is homework before class everyday. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - She made 8am spansih fun, enough said. Im sure there are easier professors out there, but she made it very attainable to get an A if you put in a little effort and showed up to class. Would highly reccomend - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - I would take any class I could with her. Wonderful professor! I'm not good at Spanish, but she taught it in a way that is understandable! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1302/2310 - Rosario's classes are the only classes at baylor i have gotten excited to go to. i look forward to them and her personality makes the class awesome. she is hilarious but also kind, fair, and always wants to help. Tests and quizzes aren't bad if you study and actually learn the material. Homework assignments due every class but do not take longer than 30mins max. There is a short quiz about once a week but she prepares you in class before and emails you with everything you need to know. The same goes for tests, she prepares you very well. The hardest part to me was the oral interview but overall this is my favorite class ive taken. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:SPA 2310 - Best professor I've ever had at Baylor. This is my second year taking her Spanish class because I enjoyed it so much last year. I came into taking Spanish because it was a requirement for my major, but because of her, I loved it! Her class was relatively easy and her humor made up for it being 8:00 AM in the morning. Quizzes were consistent and we had a test every few weeks, but she graded fairly. I literally made a BU Books account to write this review. Take her class and you won't regret it!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - This class is a lot of work and studying because Baylor likes to make everything harder than it needs to be, but Profesora is such a good teacher! She does a lot of active learning to keep you awake during class. I never got bored because she's hilarious. There's online hw due every class, a quiz every week, 4 exams, oral interview, and 3 in class writings. As long as you study, you can get an A. It's not a terrible class, but it's also not an easy A. She gives a lot of partial credit on her exams, quizzes, and in-class writings, so don't stress. She's so nice and even brought us snacks when we took our final. You can tell she loves her students and her job! I would take her again in a blink of an eye. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - She is a really good teacher and I definitely learned a lot in her class. The workload was kind of a lot. Expect lots of quizzes and hw, but class itself is engaging and fun. She wants you to succeed and is very good at explaining material. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - Professor Rosario definitely did her best to make this class interesting and fun even over zoom. She is from Spain and has a native speaker's perspective which I think can be helpful. There is supersite homework due before every class which usually takes 30-45 min. There are ten quizzes all of their dates noted on the course schedule. The exams were fairly straightforward if you studied well and engaged in class. I know some of my classmates felt that Profe spoke too quickly so if you find it difficult to follow spoken spanish thats something to consider. I can tell she definitely does slow her speech down a lot in class already. You just have to be fully engaged to follow her/understand whats going on. I would recommend this class. Spanish at Baylor is difficult and you will have to work in this class, but it is very doable. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1301 - Highly recommend taking Professor Rosario if you don’t understand Spanish but need it to graduate. I have always struggled with Spanish. I have had professors before (not at Baylor) that would belittle me because I didn’t understand the concept. Professor Rosario was always available and willing to help me understand it better. She truly cares about her students and wants you to understand it. If you don’t, don’t be afraid to ask her for help cause she will help you. You do a lot of in person activities and have quizzes in class over the stuff you discuss that week. So just make sure you stay up to date on your work and you should be fine. Highly recommend taking Professor Rosario for all your Spanish. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:Spanish for Business - I LOVED Rosario for spanish for business! She is super funny and a great teacher. She is really understanding and wants to make sure everyone understands what we're learning. We never had tests in this class. All the quizzes were open note that we took on canvas before class. The main assignments you have to do are presentations in front of the class. Make sure to practice for these because she will grade harshly! We also had to write 3-4 business letters in spanish that weren't too bad but she's kind of strict on some of the grammar. Also, we did a mock interview in her office. Other than that the class really isn't bad! I would definitely recommend taking Rosario! She's one of my favorite Baylor professors so far! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:SPA1401 - I had Rosario for Spanish 1 and Spanish 3 (2310) and I would have taken her for the other two semesters, but my schedule didn't line up. I am a graduating senior and can honestly say that Rosario has been my favorite professor at Baylor. I'm actually surprised more students haven't commented on here because she is extremely well-liked. Her classes aren't easy, but she genuinely cares for students, keeps class interesting and engages everyone throughout lecture. Her teaching style is the best I've seen for a foreign language and I picked up the most Spanish while taking her classes. Her tests and quizzes are typical of Spanish courses- not extremely hard or easy. There's usually a listening section with a couple questions on the tests followed by fill in the blank, rewriting sentences, circling answers that are conjugated or within a passage, and a multiple choice section about student presentations. She really wants to help students so you should never feel like you're struggling in her class. I highly recommend taking her for Spanish- you'll get a lot out of her class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:SPA 1400 - Rosario is a great teacher and really cares about her students. She is fluent/clearly speaks both English and Spanish which I found very helpful. She is funny, a great teacher, and will do anything she can to help her students. She does have a heavier work load, but I thought it was worth it to take her class. If you are confused, struggling in the class, or straight up just having a bad day she will meet with you right away to help in any way she can. She got to know us on a personal level and I will definitely miss having her as a professor, take her!! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:SPA2310 - Being from Spain she is extremely good at Spanish, however not as good at english to back it up. Compared to my prior Spanish teachers at Baylor, Rosado is way more difficult in her grading, and I think this has to do with her background. She holds us to a much higher standard than other Spanish teachers, and is very assumptive with what we "should" know, when a lot of us in the class gets lost and she would never explain what these "simple" things mean in english, and this was very frustrating because you aren't allowed to look it up on your phone in class, so a lot of things are not thoroughly explained and will go right over your head. I tried very hard in this class to get the A that I received in the prior 2 Spanish classes I took at Baylor, but she took off most of my points from grades off of her judgement (such as participation, speaking, and presentations) versus what I actually got on the tests. She was also very broad when telling us what would be on the test which made for lots and lots of studying. She is a funny and very entertaining teacher, but know if you take her you will be held to a higher standard and need to teach yourself a lot of things because she is extremely assumptive and thinks we know more than we actually do in Spanish 3. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1401 - Good and fun teacher! Lots of partner work and online homework though and tests were pretty hard. She really cares about her students, even brought donoughts on the day of our final. Take her if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2320 - Rosario is my favorite professor I've had at Baylor so far and definitely the best Spanish teacher I have ever had. I was really nervous about this higher level Spanish course but she made it interesting. I'm not very good at Spanish but she was always very encouraging and never made and me or anyone else feel stupid for messing up. She recognizes that everybody is at a different level and caters to the class's needs really well and is a very fair yet forgiving grader. She's very funny and friendly and not intimidating at all. We did have homework almost every night but it never took very long (and I would just look up the English translations anyway lol). I would 100% recommend her!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1401 - She is an awesome professor. She is available and is willing to help you get the grade you want. Do not be afraid to visit her for office hours. She is outgoing and only allows Spanish in the class, which I find extremely helpful. She forces you to learn Spanish and she speaks in Spanish about 99% of the time. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2310 - I really loved this class a lot! I didn't have a very good teacher for my last year of Spanish in High School so I was very apprehensive about taking a Spanish class again but Professor Dorado really had me loving Spanish again. She is really funny and enjoys interacting with the class. She also never makes fun of anyone for making mistakes. She always is really polite and corrects you while teaching the class at the same time. She is originally from Spain so she usually has a lot of personal stories to share whenever we talk about Spanish culture. Before class she plays Spanish music and she always asks how our day was or how the weekend was at the start of class. She is really good at making the class interactive and she makes grammar fun. She is also good at explaining difficult grammar concepts and answering questions. I never went in for office hours for help, but she is really quick at replying to emails for any questions. The workload is pretty average for a Baylor Spanish class. On every class day online homework is due at 7 AM. Before each class there are some pages of reading that usually have some vocab, grammar, or cultural passages that the homework pertains to. What is covered in the reading and homework is what is covered in class that day. It is usually only about 5 pages of reading and maybe 6-8 online activities. There are vocab quizzes, grammar quizzes, and 3 essays none of which are very difficult if you study. There are three exams and a final. All the exams are written with usually a small listening portion, a vocab section, a grammar section, questions on the stories in the chapters, and then a writing portion. The exams are not difficult if you paid attention and you studied. She also grades leniently without taking full points off for small mistakes. All in all, this class is very doable if you study and do the homework. It is also very enjoyable because the professor is really great! - Grade In Class:A
