*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:2306 - I wanted to like this class so much but it was SOOOOOO boring. Edwards is super kind and obviously knows what he is talking about but it really does not translate to his exams. He lectures for forever and then acts surprised when people do not do well on his exam. I like him as a person but he made this class way harder than it needed to be. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - Finley is incredible. I thought I was done for when I saw his ratings, but he is one of, if not the best lecturer I've ever seen. He keeps you engaged the entire class and explains difficult concepts very well. This class is not easy, however, if you are planning on majoring in Econ you NEED to take Edwards. This course will challenge you, but will help you understand Econ extremley well. Overall, the course workload isn't bad and the tests, while difficult, aren't bad if you prepare for them. The class averages on the tests were very low, but most people did not study well. If you study well and put in effort, you will likely enjoy this class. This class made me switch to Econ, and I'm very grateful that I ended up taking Finley! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - TAKE EDWARDS!! Like one of the other comments said, I thought I was screwed when I got Dr Edwards as a professor. His class actually turned me into an Econ major (we'll see how I still feel about that after macro) and I was super disappointed to find out he wasn't teaching macro next semester. You can tell by the way he teaches that he is extremely knowledgeable in economics and genuinely enjoys it. No quizzes, and all of his exams are multiple choice. Honestly I didn't find them difficult because they are based off of applying what you've learned + a bit of common sense, not just pure memorization. He does have slides posted that you can see on Canvas along with short videos explaining the concepts in case you miss a class, but during class he writes on a whiteboard which, as a pencil and paper note taker, I found extremely helpful. I also went to his office hours once just to talk about some of the things discussed in class, and he was super nice. He also gives out review sheets and multiple practice exams which some of the practice exam questions are just copy pasted onto the actual exam. The only gripe I have with this class is sometimes the homework just didn't make sense based off of what we were talking about, but you get three tries per section and it keeps your highest score so basically a free 100. He also does fun games in class occasionally for the entire period to help learn a concept which was a nice break, and he did games which he also gave out extra credit for homework and once for an exam. Overall, show up to class and ask questions if you have them, he's more than willing to help, you just have to put in some effort. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - DONT DO IT BRUH PLS ok i deadass had to drop this class he doesn't answer questions and he uses the white board and doesn't post ANYTHING. if you miss class ur cooked. he also wears the most atrocious suspenders and i fully saw him pick a wedgie one time and it all went downhill from there like we cannot be doing that. SO much homework and i actually had to drop to save myself it was so bad - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:2307 - Literally my worst grade at Baylor so far. listen to the other reviews this class is so hard to learn anything from. Review sessions are helpful before exams but sometimes he cannot answer the questions that he himself writes. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Micro - TAKE EDWARDS! I honestly do not get the hate in these reviews when I had to sign up for him I thought I was screwed. Edwards is easily the best teacher and most knowledgeable I have had in the Business school. His exams are difficult but he gives a practice exam that is almost identical to the actual exam even normally around 5-10 questions being copy and pasted. This is a class you must study for he wont curve tests but he curves final grades I got an A with a 87%. He hosts study sessions and if you pay attention in class and study about an hour a B or A are completely possible in his Micro and Macro courses. I purposely took him again for Macro because of how good he is. I have done well and I go out about 3 nights a week just don't skip class and pay attention youll be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - SAVE YOURSELF FORM HELL!!! I would highly recommend you to not take this guy. If you can I would recommend taking this at MCC or with any other professor, then him. He will teach things in class, and it will make sense until you get to the homework and exams. The exams are extremely hard! The first exam average was a 60. He changes his grading scale at the end of the semester to make sure he does not look like a bad professor and fails everyone. He loves to draw on the white board so do not miss class because if you there is nothing to look off unless your friends take notes. His exams are so bad that he offers review sessions the day before the exam. Please save yourself! He also loves to skip class for family reason. If he was a student, I believe he would have failed this class for missing so much of it. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2306 - I felt like this class was extremely difficult. His notes/lectures were helpful since I am a visual learner, but the homework was very tedious and long. There are three exams, and he grades them as low, mid, and high (all weighted differently). I found his exams to be very long and nothing like what we covered in class, nor on the practice exams. He pulls all of his lectures from the textbook, which is nice if you need to go back and review something. Overall, if you are good at economics, then take him; I would try to avoid taking his class if you can. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2306 - I DON'T KNOW WHY MORE PEOPLE DON'T TALK ABOUT HIM?! He was an amazing teacher. I'm a visual learner that likes writing physical notes. He writes everything on the board. He draws graphs and personally for a visual learner he was one of the best teacher's I've ever had. But everyone is different. I know some others struggled. But if you pay attention and are a visual learner, I think you'll love his class. I loved his activities and he was always very welcoming and easy to talk to. I would take him if you can. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - Holy shiiz, this guy put me through so much emotional turmoil. His classes are not impossible, and he adjusts his grade margins, for example I ended the class with an 84, but got an A-. Why he wont adjust the COURSE I'm not sure but he is doable. You'll have lots of busy work and he told me in office hours "I like to test students on thing they WOULD HAVE NEVER SEEN IN HW OR IN A LECTURE" so be prepared to be dumbfounded by EVERY exam and to think outside the box constantly. With all of that said, he is incredibly smart, and loves what he is doing, just a little awkward. Oh and extra credit? forget it lol. He's doable but difficult - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - I'm surprised at how low his rating is. I think most of the ratings are from those who had to take the class online. I enjoyed this class. The tests can be difficult but I did alright on them (B's). My only complaint is the homework. It's extremely time consuming and is more based on the textbook rather than what he teaches in class. But other than that the class was pretty good to me. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2307 - I enjoyed his class, but his tests are way too hard and does more damage to your educational career than help. I have never gotten a C before in a class in my life until this now. I had 80's and 90's on all the assignments, but the tests were very hard and I bombed both of them which tanked my grade. He does not allow a formula sheet, a scientific calculator, or enough time to take his tests. Do not take him, if you must take it here find someone else. I believe he has to be tenured, - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1305 - I do not recommend taking Dr. Edwards for ECO 1305. I took his class for the Business Admin minor and found that it was a lot more work than I anticipated. I was frustrated by the asynchronous online structure and found myself dedicating more time to this class than any other on a daily basis. Between the weekly textbook readings, lecture videos, homework assignments, and discussion boards, this class demanded multiple hours each week in order to succeed. The homework was especially frustrating because it did not reflect what we learned in lectures or the textbook. However, Dr. Edwards was willing to be flexible and meet with students to discuss areas of concern in the class. Even with his assistance and meeting with a student tutor, I still struggled to make a good grade in this course. However, I think he saw the effort I put into his class and that eventually helped me keep a C in the class. Dr. Edwards is a nice person, but I would not recommend taking him for this particular class. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:ECO 1305 - DO NOT TAKE! I took the grad requirement "Issues in Economics" online with Dr. Edwards. He assigns 4-8 lectures and quizzes each week. The lectures are only about 20 minutes each, but if you have eight in one week, they can become time-consuming. He also assigns 1-2 homework assignments on Mindtap. The quizzes are easy because he lets you take them an unlimited time. Sounds great, right? Nope. The lectures in no way reflect the material on the exams or homework assignments. He does not go into detail about graphing at any time, and the exams and homework assignments require a lot of graphing skills. I was averaging a C or D on the first two exams, so I emailed him asking for study tips. He wrote back with a short "Watch the lecture videos, per the syllabus." Wow, I wish I would have thought of that! I had already been watching every video (I might have missed a week or two), and taking 5-6 pages of notes on EVERY video. I told him this, and he said "Your student history on Canvas says otherwise." Wow! First, he was unwilling to give ANY tips, and second, he accused me of lying! What is this guy doing being a professor? I pay extremely too much money to deal with a jerk like this. He only recommended going to the tutoring center. This isn't helpful if I understand the homework/quizzes but have no idea what is on the exam. He also has an exam due on the Tuesday after thanksgiving break. So, we're going to go a whole week without doing economics, and take an exam? Great. It's also only two weeks before finals, and he's giving some exam. PLEASE save yourself the hassle and take someone else. I wish I would have. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ECO 2307 - I would strongly recommend against taking Dr. Edwards. He cares about economics and he explains the material fairly well, but his tests were very difficult. It would take a LOT of hours and effort of studying to get an A in his class. He is the kind of professor that if you make an 89.99, he will not round it to a 90 and give you an A but will give you a B+. There are so many economics professors that would be so much easier if you are looking out for your grade. I am, well was, a 4.0 student and this class is what caused me to lose my 4.0. Take someone else if you want a good grade. If you are looking to just learn about economics and don't care what grade you get, then he would be a great professor. I saw his reviews but registered for this class last minute, so I decided to take him despite a low score on BU books. I now wish I would have waited to take the course with a better professor. You've been warned! If you do take his class, here are some good things to know. I took his online class, and I would spend 4-5 hours every Friday doing all of the work for the week (lectures, quizzes, homework, discussion boards). If you have the option to take it online, I would recommend it because he structured his class well for online. He talks slow so I would watch his lectures on 2x speed and save a lot of time. Don't miss a discussion board or weekly class that isn't optional because you will have to write a 500 word makeup assignment, and it's much easier to just show up or complete the 100 word discussion board. He offered an optional book review assignment worth 15% that I recently submitted, and it reduces the weight of the 2 exams and the final by 5% each if you do it. I'm not sure how hard he will grade it, but I will update this review when I get that grade back. Most importantly, put a lot of time into studying for the exams beforehand. Don't cram last minute or the day before, even if you've done well with cramming in other classes like me. The questions he asks on exams usually require an understanding of 2-3 concepts working together, so you have to really know your stuff well. You can do this, good luck! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - I took Dr. Edwards for the intro economics class for non-majors. With it being an asynchronous class, I feel like Dr. Edwards gave us plenty of resources; his Canvas page is updated with assignments each week, with all the videos and quizzes neatly organized. He was also very responsive to his emails, and overall was an understanding person. Yes, the work he gave was excessive, but he did move the deadline from 5 PM on Fridays to 11:59 PM after he asked for our feedback in the middle of the semester. This class is quite similar to my economics AP class that I took in high school, but I honestly didn't remember much to actually get a leg-up. His tests were fair, and economics itself is just tricky sometimes. Reading the textbook helped me grasp the concepts since he doesn't dive too deep into some of them during his videos, and sometimes his videos covered information that the textbook did not; honestly, just watch the lectures and read the book- doesn't really take too long if you have a free Friday afternoon (or do the more responsible thing and complete a bit of the assignments each day). I took notes on a google doc, and kept up with it all semester, so when it came to studying for each test, I read over my notes as a review. BE SURE TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THE EQUATIONS AND GRAPHS. He would give practice tests and other resources in preparation for the exams that are helpful. His quizzes had unlimited attempts, so those were easy 100%'s. Like some of the comments said, the Cengage HW did not help at all, the discussion boards were also a waste of our time. I basically would do all my economics stuff on Friday, and it would usually take me about 4-5 hours. I honestly feel like this class was pretty good for an asynchronous class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO 1305 - Let me start off by saying, Economics is not my favorite subject and that could color my evaluation. In the online version of the class, there are 2 chapters covered each week. Each chapter consists of numerous videos recorded by Dr. Edwards that last 2 hours cumulatively, a quiz after every lecture, Mind Tap homework with about 5-8 sections, and a reading with a discussion board where you have to make an initial comment and then respond to 2 other comments. The lectures are pretty good, but tests are pretty hard. (In my opinion.) He has consistent office hours which is really nice! As far as exam reviews go, he puts together 2 practice tests which really help in knowing what kinds of questions to expect, and he hosts an hour long unstructured review on zoom. You're supposed to come to the reviews with questions, so it's largely unhelpful to attend if you truly don't know what's going on, because you don't know what to ask a question about. There are 2 exams and a cumulative final. Overall, it's not a terrible class for intro to economics, economics is just a tricky subject. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO 1305 - This class was the absolute worst class I have had so far. This was during the COVID semester so the class was asynchronous online which was the biggest challenge for me. With being online, he did post a detailed work schedule for the week which was honestly the only good part about this class, but the amount of work was excessive. There were very long videos that were mainly just him rambling, textbook readings that do not represent how to do the homework at all, and discussions that did not help with learning the material. I put in so much effort into this class and spent hours upon hours doing the assignments and watching the lecture videos just to finish with a C. Also, this is a NON-BUSINESS MAJOR CLASS. The level of understanding of the material was insane and expectations were way too high for a class of non-business majors. Edwards gives off an arrogant economist type of personality which is discouraging because it makes it hard to ask for help and understand when his tone sounds like he is better than everyone else. Overall, if you have another choice take them because anything is better than this dreadful course. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1305 - Dr. Edwards is the worst professor I have ever had. Do not take his class if you want to learn anything. He is unhelpful and rude to students in difficult situations and insensitive to students with issues. His course load and difficulty is ridiculous for an intro class, and he responds rudely to students who ask for help. Dr. Edwards does not teach this class effectively and is a rude person to boot. Endless amounts of hard work mean nothing to him, and he only cares about fulfilling his grade requirements (aka curving the top 10% of the class) and then abandoning the rest of the class. DO NOT TAKE ANY COURSE FROM HIM. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2305 - Finley is not my favorite. He didn't teach all that much and all of his lectures were only in-person. His teaching is just very shoddy and the textbook assignments are trash. I have a good understanding of economics and I understood most of the content, but I struggles with his convoluted lesson plans and over complications of simple concepts. I had to retake it over the summer and I got an A. Plus, no offense or anything, but he's kind of boring and he gives off the "economist" vibe which didn't help. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:1305 - Although this was a non majors econ class, it required a pretty thorough understanding of economics, which you could not possibly get from Dr. Edward's lectures. Dr. Edwards is more than happy to give out only 3-4 A's per class because its 'expected' for only 10% of any econ class to achieve an A grade. Also he does A-'s at a 93, which again, seems unnecessary for a non majors course. He doesn't curve any exams under any circumstance even if the averages are low 70's. His practice exams are fairly representative of the test in that, whatever is on them may be a signal to you of what to avoid studying for the real exam. Making an A or an A- isn't impossible though, my friends got A’s, do the readings and take notes before you come to class. Then during lectures don't bother writing down what he says since its practically no different from the book. Just copy the graphs. The HW is based on accuracy and it takes the average of 3 attempts at max, so you really can't blow it off because it will affect your grade. In class activities are a way to earn extra credit, except its actually pretty difficult to get the extra credit since they are usually competitive activities. He also doesn't drop any test!! He does make your lowest mid term worth 15% instead of 20%, but the opportunity cost of that 5% of grace on your low midterm is that the final is worth 25% instead of 20. Try your best to go to office hours and ask as many questions as you can, he's really nice and will definitely try to help you to the best of his ability. Overall, Dr. Edwards definitely could make it worse but he doesn't, and his lectures may not be the most innovative but I still think they are interesting and occasionally he will talk about the current economy as well! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:micro - He isn't a bad prof, I took micro during pledging and even taking his class at 10:10 I still would do fine on his tests even tho I slept thru some lectures. I don't know why some idiots can't listen while they're awake, I did it in my sleep. The guy is good if you take notes. Some people are dumb idk. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Before you read someones comment about Edwards, look at what grade they got in the class. At least for his 2306 class, and A is possible if you study hard. I actually thought he was a great professor and did an amazing job explaining concepts, but you're going to have to put in many hours of studying if you want to excel. He clearly explained how concepts worked and DIDN'T just read from the textbooks and his exams reflect exactly what we learn in class. His class actually sparked my interest in economics. I think a lot of people don't like him because of the grade they ended up with in the class, but the reality is that none of this is supposed to be super easy. You work hard in this class, you'll be rewarded. If you think this will be a blow off class, of course you'll be disappointed. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1302 - WORST PROF EVER. HIS LECTURES ARE SO BAD AND HE DOES NOT HELP OUT SIDE OF CLASS - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2307 - Professor Edwards class is purely based off the lectures. He does not have any slides to review if you miss a class. The book also is not very accurate. So if you miss class or don't pay attention you have nothing to study for test. All his tests usually have an average of 70 without a curve. He also mainly just tells stories when he is teaching which is hard to take notes over or remember. He also does not calculate grades on canvas. So you don't know what your grade is till the very end of the semester and it makes it impossible to calculate what grade you need on the final. If possible I would take someone else. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Professor Edwards is a pretty good professor overall. He really seemed like he wanted me to succeed in his class. Tips: Show up to class, most extra credit will come from your participation during class activities. Study for tests with the homework and the practice exam he gives you. Go to him in office hours and he will kinda let on a couple questions on the exam. Study for the exams, they assume you have already mastered the concepts, they are ALL APPLIED PROBLEMS. no vocab. I found there was also a bit of a time crunch, so time yourself while taking the practice exam to see where you stand. The final is cumulative but if you study the practice test and your other tests, you'll be fine. The final was actually my highest test grade. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - It is a mistake to take his microeconomics class. While he is a nice guy, it is not a well-formatted class. ALL of the notes are hand-written on the board every day and not posted anywhere. They also do not follow a book. If you miss a class, then you missed those notes and better hope you can figure it out before the exam. The exams are harder than the material he teaches as well. Furthermore, if you are sick (even deathly ill) you cannot make up a test. Doesn't matter what happened, you can only take the test on test day. This screwed me over because I had to come take a test while very sick and incapable of doing so. You will also not know the grading scale until the last week of class. Want to know if you have an A or B? Too bad, you have to wait. He does not release grades until the last week, making it impossible to determine how you're really doing. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ECO 2307 - Edwards is terrible. His lectures make a lot of sense and seem easy, but the online homework is insanely difficult and not helpful at all and his tests are ridiculously hard. Making any grade other than an A is extremly rare for me, so the fact that I did so poorly in this class while being an economics major is really frustrating. I maintained a good grade all year and I worked my butt off studying for the final and ended up doing so poorly that it dropped me three leter grades, and the final was ridiculously difficult. I don't understand how proffessors like Dr. Edwards can be so proud of making their classes intentionally impossible and GPA killers. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. THERE IS VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF SUCCESS IN THIS CLASS. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Microeconomics - Edwards is a really good professor, but his class is tough. His lectures are organized and very easy to follow and come straight from the book. The homework is all online, which is kinda annoying, and it isn't always on the topic that we discussed in class. His tests are pretty tough. He gives out practice tests to help you study, but each question on the test is worth a lot so it's hard to get an A. He won't curve the tests either, even if the average is below a passing score. Tough class, but definitely doable; you just have to put in the work. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Micro - DO NOT TAKE EDWARDS. At first I thought that this class would be pretty easy based off of the lectures Edwards would give. He writes the notes along with the class on the board, going over pretty basic economic topics. But his lectures have NOTHING to do with the homework/tests he gives. Aplia is stupid and useless and he didn't even publish a canvas page, so if you want to see your grades you have to go to this website to find them. The homework on Aplia is always unnecessarily long and takes forever to finish, and even though he drops your lowest two homework grades, it doesn't do much. The tests are what baffles me about this course. The tests are so insanely hard, and even if you think you studied enough, you didn't. He is totally fine with a class average below a 70, and acts as though he has done his job. I don't understand how a professor can be this ok with his students struggling as much as they do. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:Macro - Also took Edwards for Micro. Edwards seems to have a low rating, however, I thought he was a very good professor. Micro/Macro are not easy classes but with Edwards, you have to work extremely hard to get an A. His classes go into a lot more detail than other micro/macro sections which will hurt your grade in the class but help you in the long run. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Macro - Economics is hard but it should not be this hard. Getting less than an A for me is rare and I studied hard for tests and spent tons of time on unnecessarily difficult online homework. From his teaching, at first you get the impression that the material is fairly simple because he just scratches the surface with simple definitions and graphs. Then, the tests are INSANELY HARD. They are no where near the difficulty of his lectures. There are only two before the final so if you do poorly on one you're screwed. The final is cumulative and covers the last third of the semester that was not tested on previously. Its impossible. He offers to do a book review assignment for another test grade (which he will include whether or not the grade he gives on it will bring your grade up or down). I was one of only two in the class to do the assignment and it took a lot of time and effort. I am generally a good writer but he gave me an 88. So in the end it didn't boost my grade at all which was very frustrating. ALSO he has a MANDATORY class session towards the end where he makes you live tweet a documentary. You also have to tweet every after every class and interact with others which got old fast. Overall, unfair tests, difficult homework and not good at teaching. You should take anyone else besides this guy. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2307 - Edwards is excellent. Should have an 80-something score. His tests are mixed; some multiple choice, and then two short answers. He only has two tests and then the final; I wish he had three. But he has a book review project that is optional to add to the syllabus. I think this is a great idea! Lectures are a great use of your time; DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I never opened it after the first week, because his teaching was enough. There are Aplia assignments, so you have to purchase the program. You can probably get all A's on the homework IF you take time to think them out, and use your notes. Finley gives you everything you need to succeed. This isn't probably an easy A, but it can definitely be an A if your semester isn't too swamped with your other classes. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Microeconomics - Not sure why Edwards has such a low rating, he's a good professor. Very reasonable homework and assignments; tests are straightforward and he only asks questions about topics he's covered in class. The only downside is he uses Aplia for online homework which is pretty difficult at times. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO 2306 - Edwards is a teacher that takes pride in making his class difficult. His homework is on a website called aplia and it is very time consuming and it is graded based on accuracy so you will likely miss a good amount of points on homework even though most classes homework grades are always 100. However, in the lectures he is very clear on what concepts will be on the exam and the exams don't have any trick questions. He also gives practice exams that are similar to the real ones, so there's no reason not to do well on the exams. Make sure you don't skip class because he occasionally holds simulations which you will lose a whole grade if you don't go to. Edwards is very gracious at the end of the year though as he gave A LOT of extra credit on the homework. However, he is kind of a rude teacher and is not very helpful outside of class. Also he WILL NOT round you. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2307 - Edwards is unfriendly, unhelpful, and downright rude. His tests are incredibly difficult and there are only two of them, so if you screw up on one then you're left hung out to try. He does offer an optional book review that will boost your grade, I did it and would highly recommend it. The reading was tedious but overall an easy way to raise your grade. I bombed the first test and went in to go over it with him and ask to see how I could do better and Finley straight up told me that I was going to fail his class (I didn't so screw him). He is not helpful and I wouldn't recommend him unless your only other option is English. Bottom line: take Ssozi instead Edwards. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:ECO 2307 - Dr. Edwards is a good professor. He explained the material thoroughly, Econ is sometimes just a difficult topic to get. He had a few in-class assignments, weekly online homework, and microblogging. He has 2 exams and a final but also offers a book review option that switches the percentages around so tests count less. He is a very helpful professor and I believe wants his students to really understand the material. Overall, study all of the course materials he gives on aplia and pay attention in class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO 2304 - His lectures are straight from the book, the tests aren't too difficult, and he gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. It's important to show up for his class every day so you won't miss any new material! The only problem I had with him was I hated doing the Aplia homework. It was completely unnecessary and did not help with my understanding of the material. Also, there are no SI's for this class so if anyone needs extra help, they need to ask Dr. Edwards for questions or find some other resource. Lastly, there's no clear cut way to study for the tests.. you gotta know the material. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2304 - Good Professor! Had to re-take that class because I made a C- with Linda English who was horrid. Edwards is good. easy to understand and not that boring - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2304 - Prof Edwards is great! He makes the class very interesting and is always available to help you out. He clearly cares about each student's success. The exams come straight from the notes, however, the homework is pretty tough. It doesn't hurt your grade much though. I made anywhere from D's to A's on it and still ended with an A in the class. I would highly recommend him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Principles of Microeconom - He makes you buy Aplia, which is expensive, so that part I don't like. His lectures are decent, not life-changing, but decent. His online homework is hard, but if you do the practice assignments before the graded assignments, you'll make A's. He has practice tests that really help you prepare for the actual tests. You don't actually have to do the reading in order to pass. one thing I'll mention is that It's kind of a hard subject to wrap your mind around, so you need to review your lecture notes - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:ECO 2306 - BY FAR THE WORST PROFESSOR I ever had at Baylor. I made A's and A-'s in every other class (with exception to two B+'s) during my time at the school yet struggled in his class. Professor Edwards was new to Baylor when I had him and would always compare Baylor students to the students from the tiny liberal arts college he came from. For example when he said, "It's interesting seeing how even though you all got into Baylor, my students from last year had better scores than you guys." His practice tests were unhelpful for the real thing and he was often rude when I went for office hours He always tried to hurry up the visits to his office hours so he could leave early and never had any interest in helping me. When I pleaded for help at his office hours, he actually said, "Look, if you're having trouble with my class then you're going to have a very tough career." I have never posted a professor rating before now. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:ECO 2306 - I don't know what everyone on here was complaining about. Dr. Edwards was a great professors. His attendance policy is very flexible, the online homework, while tricky, is very manageable and his lectures supplemented the book. We also did a bunch of simulations and games in class that really illustrated the concepts and made class more engaging. He was always willing to work with me in terms of difficulties I was having with the class and always responded to emails promptly. His practice exams were pretty much exactly like the actual exams - especially the practice final. He doesn't expect to give out very many As, but economics is a hard subject - it's not like marketing or something where it's extremely intuitive. Overall Edwards was a great professor and I recommend his class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Micro2306 - If you can, avoid Dr. Edwards, unless you already have a strong knowledge of microeconomics. Edwards is a stiff, not very friendly or helpful professor. He teaches straight out of the book, so theres no point in taking notes. The online homework seems easy until you go to the test and completely bomb the test. I went to his office hours and he said, "if you can get into Baylor, you can pass my class." He did not care that I was struggling in his class. He's just a rude, young professor who thinks he's the best, but really he doesn't care about his students grades or how they are doing in the class. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:Micro - Homework does not usually correlate easily to what we talked about in class, making it stressful. Hard to know what to expect from tests but includes a lot of minute details, multiple choice and free response. Does not do powerpoints but instead reads from handwritten notes. He is super available which is nice but just restates what the book says and not much more. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:Microecon 2306 - Dr. Edwards is such a nice guy, and super available when it comes to office hours. He has a signup page online for appointments that he makes available from the start of the course. We didn't have a whiteboard for the entirety of the semester, but he improvised and was able to create all of the graphs required and project them old-school style from a piece of paper. The subject matter can be a bit tricky, but I don't think that has anything to do with the professor, it's just Econ. Edwards teaches straight from the book, so if you read you'll always know what's coming up in class. He was always super helpful whenever I went to his office with a question. The homework is always much more complex than the tests, so if you understand the concepts enough for that, the class itself will be straightforward enough. We usually had two homework assignments due every Tuesday, random pop quizzes and three tests and a final. If you study, you'll probably be fine. I would probably recommend Edwards if you have some idea of Econ theories already, but if you don't he's always more than happy to help students out. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Micro - Edwards is horrible. He does not know how to teach. His lectures are word from word from the book, so there's absolutely no point going to class to listen to him ramble and make the lesson even more complicated. His test grades are consistently low but if you do the practice exams you'll do alright. He is rude when you go to his office hours and overall very unhelpful. The online homework is ridiculously hard and is nothing like the tests or in class exercises. He is a horrible teacher try to get someone else if you can - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Micro - Funny guy, but not the best professor. Test averages were consistently low and he did nothing to address them. He considers 75-80's to be a good grades in his class, so if that's what you're looking for take him. - Grade In Class:B
