Comments:1301/1302/2310 - I’ve taken ICE for three semesters and I can honestly say I don’t get some of these reviews. Here is the thing with her: she’s called “mean” for sticking to course policies or refusing unreasonable requests. She’s described as “rude” for calling people out on their BS, but the truth is she inspires many of us and I do have a great respect for the woman. If you actually want to walk out of the classroom speaking Spanish and you give a crap about your education, you should take her. She’s funny, super engaging, and her personality is AMAZING, but don’t expect her to hold your hand because you’ll likely be crushed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - She's actually just the meanest woman ever. I didn't learn no matter how much effort i put in in class. In comparison to other professors in the department she just isnt worth taking  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2310 - DO. NOT. TAKE. The only good thing I can say is she rounded my grade up 2% at the end. She is the most biased and rude professor I have ever experienced. She called my class dumb multiple times, refused to answer certain people, and graded everyone completely differently. Before the final she told the class we didn't deserve any grace or the grades we were getting because she was being. Average grades on quizzes and tests were 50-70%. For not being a major/minor it caused way too much stress. Weekly pop quizzes, 4 tests, 2 papers, oral, presentation, and VHL homework (around 3 hours weekly). Points taken off for missed periods, missed accent marks, missed spelling, or not having an article. Very little direction on the quizzes/tests and nothing in English. She gave the same grade on presentations to someone who read from the slides for 2 minutes as someone who memorized the 10 minutes (like they were supposed to). The class was a joke because if you weren't her favorite you got no grace and were judged at a beyond high expectation. Don't take her if you care about yourself and not being degraded, you will definitely get picked on and dread going to class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 lab - She is spaniard. She is fluent in Spanish (obviously), but she doesn't just teach you the language. She pulls a lot of information from her youth which is really cool. She is very open about the differences in cultures. She also really wants you to succeed so just talk with her. She has a quiz after every class which I could never get a 100 on to save my life! Pay more attention then me ig  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 Lab - If you struggle with Spanish, or if you are not near proficient, do not take this woman. She is unforgiving, cold, and merciless. She does not take the team to teach you, she will just ignore you.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1302 - ICE was a strong professor for this class. She is lively and engages with the class, drawing you into the lesson. There is online homework due each day before class, but you can easily complete it in half an hour or less. Put in serious studying for her exams, participate in class, and keep up to date on the material in order to succeed.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:SPA 2302 - I really enjoyed ICE's class. Even though she had pop quizzes and name called, it was never surprising and everyone in my class loved her. If you’re looking to really learn Spanish, take her!! 10000/10 would recommend her class. Very interactive and she is such an amazing professor and mentor. She really wants to see her students succeed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 2302 - I had ICE for my Spanish 2302 Lab. She is an effective instructor, but she is not for the faint of heart. She has zero problems calling out people on things. If you are serious about your Spanish studies or comfortable in the language, then take her because you will learn a lot. If you aren’t, I suggest trying another professor.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1401 - Overall, ICE was pretty decent. We had 10 pop quizzes, two in class compositions, and the tests weren't that hard. They were all fill in the blank style with no multiple choice. The most stressful aspect for me was that she would ask a question and then call on someone and it was very nerve wracking to formulate a response so quickly. It was very intimidating, but I think it helped a lot. There were also two oral exams, which were my least favorite experiences in all of freshman year. Some people even told me she made them cry. I think regardless in Spanish 1401 you're going to have an oral exam no matter who you take. Just don't take ICE if you have really bad testing anxiety.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1401 - I took ICE last semester for 1401. I had previous Spanish experience from HS so the class wasn't too difficult. She's an easy exam grader, but she can be a little overbearing when the class doesn't perform well on a test. Her oral exams are awful. You have to study everything and know all the vocab so when you walk into her office, you can try to answer all of her questions. It doesn't work very well for beginners especially if you have anxiety problems like I do. I ended up failing the last oral because I froze up and she just kinda passive-aggressively had me leave which made me feel kinda stupid. I took 1402 with another professor and I did just fine. I would suggest finding another professor if you have the choice (Lyles is my man, take him).  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1401 - So I loved ICE, she was so knowledgeable. She helped me learn so much and was really engaging in conversation each day in Spanish. She made us talk back to her every day, which increased my Spanish ability so much. We had only weekly homework, 3 tests, 2 oral exams, 2 compositions, and a final. This seems like a lot, but keep in mind that this class meets every single day. She is funny, gave us an amazing extra credit opportunity, and the class becomes like a little family because you see each other every day. You will have to study, because it is Spanish at Baylor, so it is hard. But, if you care about your grade and are willing to learn, take her. She is great. I would definitely take her again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1402 - She is actually a really cool person, but a heads up that she will pick on you in class so make sure you aren't like super sensitive or you'll probably get your feelings hurt. The tests are kind of difficult but if you study it won't be too bad. There are weekly pop quizzes so make sure you skip class wisely otherwise you will be getting zeros on a lot of quizzes. STUDY FOR THE ORALS! No joke, they kick your butt if you don't actually study. The homework is due at the end of the week and it's online so it is usually pretty easy! Colorado-Edwards is very personal and likes to get to know her students and is super talkative. You will easily get off topic talking about your lives and what not and she really makes the class enjoyable! I recommend taking her but make sure you actually STUDY  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1402 - Isabel is very personal, she's really talkative and takes time t get to know each student pretty well. Her Spanish is perfect since she's from Spain, but she knows how to explain it very well and is always concerned with making sure we truly understand the concept. Her tests vary, some are easy and some are hard. Her oral exams are what always get me, but she offers extra credit that is going to be my saving grace. I really like her as a person, and I'm taking her again for 2310.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 2306 - COLORADO EDWARDS IS SO EASY TAKE HER!!!!!! there's barely any homework and her tests are so easy! i studied the morning of the final and got a 96  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA3302 - Profesora Colorado is very dynamic and excited in class. She's from Spain, so her Spanish is of course perfect. I liked the way she had us do debates about fun topics linked euthanasia, stuff that makes you want to give your opinion in Spanish. The only part I didn't really like was the grammar we did, but hey, it is a class for majors so we needed it. In general I would recommend Profesora Colorado.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:SPA 1402 - First let me start by saying I was salty AF because I had registered for a different teacher who actually had good ratings on BU books and Baylor switched the teachers a week before class started. Needless to say I got on BU books, saw Colorado-Edwards had terrible reviews and was soo nervious/mad. Colorado-Edwards is a nice lady... She's helpful if you go to your office hours. Spanish 2 is pretty difficult which is why people fail/ do badly. If you take the time to sit down and study, you can do it!! Don't solely rely on Colorado-Edwards to teach you... you will do badly. Study on your own if you want to actually do well in this class. The part I hated the most is that she has random pop quizzes. My class was talking about them before she came in one day and we discussed how everyone pretty much did really badly on all of them. The thing is, sometimes you don't have time to study all the material on a random week day, it would be much nicer to have a set day (ie the tests are set on specific dates) that way you can know when to study. It's not like I could study every lesson every single night. Luckily theyre only 5 or 10% of your grade. ANYWAY... it is possible to do well in this class.Get on her good side and show that you actually are trying.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1402 - HORRIBLE professor! TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! She is incredibly unhelpful..she doesn't allow you to keep any of the graded exams so when I went to speak to her about my errors on the exam she literally took maybe 5 mins to explain my mistakes. She'll insult you in private and in front of the class if you say something wrong...i think she is extremely rude and condescending. Not a very nice lady at all. I wished someone would have warned me about her before i took her class. Her expectations for 1402 are crazy...she doesn't offer any extra credit or curve the exams. I came into the class a week late and she wouldn't even accept the hw due for the first week which is completely unfair b/c i wasn't even registered for the class. WARNING!!!! DONT TAKE HER!  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1401 - She is a great professor despite what anyone else says. The class requires participation and the desire to learn spanish. Homework is a big portion of the grade and is due every friday. She does give pop quizzes but if you have been learning and engaging in class, they aren't going to do bad. There are oral exams and compositions throughout the semester as well. The tests are sometimes difficult but if you truly study and know what the test covers, all will be good. She is great with teaching and relates to the students rather well.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:SPA 1402 - Look. The lady is nice and she cares about Spanish. But honestly, don't take her unless you have to. All else aside you will be miserable. There is such a dense amount of work, and she is not good at explaining it. She's from Spain, so she probably doesn't realize how difficult this material is. I won't slander her, or badmouth her, but this class with her has been so miserable. She has little officer hours, and honestly, her tests are not manageable at all. This teacher will wear you thin. Please, please don't take her if you want to remain sane. I'm an A student and I'm telling you straight up, DO NOT TAKE HER. You will regret the decision all semester.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1402 - If perfection had a name, it would be hers. She has very high standards, but you will learn Spanish. Definitely worth every dime!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1401 - She is a great professor, very available and willing to help. She speaks in spanish and teaches in it, even though this was the intro to spanish course. I thought it was easy because I already took spanish in high school. She is really sweet and has a great sense of humor. Homework is due every friday and it is all online. Usually one quiz a week and tests are pretty easy. sometimes she is hard to understand because of her accent.   - Grade In Class:A
