Comments:2D Design - Professor Fountain is incredible. Keep an open mind when going into his class; this is not your typical art course. Professor Fountain is extremely considerate of his students and genuinely cares about their learning and personal well-being. He's very quirky and fun, but don't be fooled into thinking it's a blow-off class; a good amount of work is required as it is in any art class. This course will teach you how to create effective designs and establish a foundation for technique in art-making. I highly highly recommend Professor Fountain!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1314 - Professor Fountain is great! He is very nice. He is very interested in his students, and he gives insight into each project. Although he can be a little strict with how he wants projects to be done. His instruction is sometimes unclear, but he is pretty available. You just have to email him or talk to him and he will gladly set up a meeting with you! He leans more toward abstract art, which was something I certainly wasn't used to but after a while, I got into the groove of how he teaches. His teaching can get a little philosophical, but all of it remains relevant to the class. Also, it's kind of interesting to learn about. I recommend Professor Fountain!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Just took this class, put in several hours of work each week (6+) and received several C+, B-, and B grades... Not a single A. I followed the rubrics printed out each time to the best of my ability and my highest grade on a project was an A-. it is a 3 hour class and you meet twice a week and it really is not too bad because he gets you moving around a lot and he includes a 15-20 minute break. He does keep you pretty much the entire 3 hours though, so don't expect to get out much earlier (maybe 10 minutes early). Honestly for a drawing one class he graded pretty harshly. I am a business student and took this for a fine art credit and this class ended up being my second lowest grade. Also, I spent 18+ hours on my final project; I worked 6 hours straight two days in a row. I got a B on it. Seemed as though there was nothing I could do to get him to give me an A. While he does grade pretty harshly, he is a very cool guy and he made us tea and brought us snacks twice. He also lets you redo any of your projects at any time for a better grade which is so helpful. He wants you to succeed but makes sure that you put in 100% effort all the time just for this class (he kind of forgets you have other classes to do homework and study for).  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1314 - Benny is the BEST! He has been one of my favorite professors at Baylor so far (coming from a Junior). His class is paced nicely with a project every couple weeks and lots of helpful demonstrations in class. He is personable, funny, and incredibly helpful. He has some quirks such as making sure craft is precise and clean on each project and wanting discussion amongst the whole class for art critiques. His passion for art is so evident and even though I'm not an art major I have thoroughly enjoyed taking his class and plan to take him again for Drawing 1!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1314 - Fountain's class was enjoyable overall. Because it is a 3 hour course, he would have tea breaks halfway through every class. The guy knows what he's talking about and his own artwork is fascinating. There is a project roughly every 2 weeks. Projects can take a lot of time outside of class, but the sooner you set aside time to work on them the better. The only problems I had with him were that he would subconsciously choose favorites in class, he would occasionally hold prolonged awkward eye contact, and sometimes while walking around class to survey everyone's work, he would seem a little condescending if he didn't like what was being done on the project. Be prepared for the possibility of being singled out in class to critique someone's work or to explain your thought process behind your work. While projects can seem stressful at times, it is incredibly satisfying to finish them. He takes off points for craft issues, and my shaky hand caused me to earn a B instead of an A.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Professor Fountain is very ambitious and technique oriented. He loves to explore different mediums and artistic perspectives. His drawing 1 class builds up. Each project focuses on a specific technique that he will eventually include on the final project. Most projects take around 3 hours outside of class to finish. He is flexible and open to suggestion in terms of how each project will be approached. Prof Fountain is very attentive and goes around the room to look after your progress during class and is very respectful and kind when providing constructive feedback. In terms of how harsh he grades, his class is not an "easy A". However, it is not a very difficult course. If you put in the time and work (which is relatively not too much compared to other courses that I have taken), regardless of your background in art, you can achieve an A in his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1314 - Benny Fountain is an adorable, observant, smart, sarcastic man. I enjoyed quite a few of the projects, but towards the end of the semester I began to become restless and irritated. Make sure if you take his class that you buy good materials - it may be expensive, but part of your grade on each project is for craft, and the paint he recommends buying is water and clots easily. Fountain was really good about making sure everyone felt like they were an artist, but there were moments where if he didn't understand your concept, weren't doing something the way he wanted, or thought something you did was bad that he would sound a little passive aggressive or condescending. That being said, he is a very kind man with a passion for art and painting, and he has an adorable family. The work load is really a lot - you spend about 6 hours in class and nearly two fold that in the studio outside of class, and that can be a lot that leads to irritability. Even after all of that though, I did mostly enjoy the class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1314 - TAKE FOUNTAIN. He is everything you want in a teacher. He is very kind and treats all of his students with respect, even the ones who know nothing about art or design. We had vocabulary quizzes almost weekly and he was really big into having class discussions using those terms, so make sure you know them. He tells us to allot at least 6 hours of work outside of class to finish projects, and that is pretty accurate. He is a perfectionist and always talks about having good craftsmanship and being super careful. So this is probably not the class to take if you have a shaky hand or are messy. He is very helpful and gives great feedback if you go to his office hours! Solid professor.   - Grade In Class:A
