Comments:Calc 1 - I will start by saying that I took Calculus 1 in high school which really helped me get through this class. Mr Courtemanche is not a very teacher, and so if you are bad at math I would recommend taking another teacher. That being said if you already Calculus, I would recommend taking him, because his tests are not very hard. By the end of the class I had a 100 percent quiz average because he drops quite a few quizzes and makes many of them participation based. He makes himself very available and is always offering to talk to you during office hours, although I never actually went there for help.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Precal - If you don't mind corny and awkward jokes this guy isn't the worst. He made my worst subject manageable by being more than happy to give 1 on 1 time that was well worth it.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1320 - This guy isn't too bad. Yes, he makes bad jokes and sometimes goes too fast but in the end all he wanted to do was help everyone. I had class during his scheduled office times, but each time I emailed him to ask for help he made room and did multiple problems step by step to make sure I understood him. His tests are not hard at all as long as you review through the sections they're over. He's an average teacher, but he did things systematically, and taught primarily through examples that were usually on his tests. He replaces your lowest test grade with your final exam grade if its better and drops 2-3 of the quiz grades (a homework quiz was given every Wednesday in my case) depending on how many your class takes. I thought he did just fine, and I never had any problems with him. Take him if you can, he just wants to help. Besides, anyone is better than Coogan.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1320 - I can't really say much that hasn't already been said. There's a reason Mr. Courtemanche has the lowest rating in possibly all of the university. He's a nice enough guy and he tries to make himself open to questions but he's just a horrible teacher. He cannot express his thoughts in a teachable way. I actually found that listening to him made it harder to learn the material outside class, which you have to do if you want to stand a chance on the tests. I can tell that he's trying but teaching is just not his thing. Please avoid him AT ALL COSTS. You will regret taking him.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1309 - He's definitely one of if not THE worst teacher on campus. 2/3 of my class dropped out after the second test. He only tests on the hardest questions in the section, and is a tough grader. Do not take him unless you hate yourself.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1309 - Let's be honest, Courtemanche is probably the worst professor at Baylor. But he can't even be called a "professor" because he is only a graduate student (problem #1). This class has been absolutely horrible. He walks into class late and then says "oh we are so behind" and starts teaching a lesson at 90 mph and no one can keep up. He just writes problems down on the board and does half of the steps in his head. I've had to go to multiple tutors and friends for help, and I am barely making a passing C right now. He makes the test extremely hard and the class averages have been below a 70 each test. There is zero opportunity for extra credit and the homework is never collected. Your only hope for passing the class is a giant curve on the final exam. If you can AVOID Courtemanche at all costs.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1309 - Where do I even begin; My experience with Mr. Courtemanche was undoubtedly the worst class experience in my entire education. Mr. Courtemanche does not give students a chance to succeed by grading his tests, which are unrealistic and not an accurate representation of your knowledge, extremely hard. He claims that by grading hard we will do better on the final exam. How is that useful to us when each of our test class averages have been in the 68-71 range. His teaching methods are worthless and the organization of the class is extremely sloppy. All he does is copy down example problems (rapidly) onto the board, with little or incoherent explanation, expecting us to learn from that. The quiz system is extremely sloppy and homework is just an enormous amount of book problems that may or may not be used for anything. I excel at math, having scored an A on every math course in high school and my first semester of college. As much as I hate using this word, this class is unfair and the grades given are not accurate representations of students\' knowledge. Avoid this class at all costs. If not, prepare to teach yourself a calculus course and to receive a C.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1309 - Overall this was a terrible class. He's new but thats no excuse. He doesn\'t teach the material, instead he just writes out problems on the board and expects you to be able to follow along. You end up having to relearn the material on your own or from a more qualified friend. One of the greatest materials you can use to reteach yourself are the numerous HW problems he assigns after the completion of each chapter, which he doesn\'t even take up. Instead he has quizzes that may or may not be over the HW. Also his quizzes and tests are nothing like the HW or the reviews (just more HW problems), so you better pray that you receive some kind of divine guidance on test day. Again he\'s a horrible professor. You\'ll hate yourself if you take this class.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1309 - Professor Courtemanche is not only a horrible teacher, he is also bigoted and racist. Throughout the course he would makeseveral racist comments and pretend he was "kidding." Incredibly unprofessional.I am a very good student, I'm even in the Honors College, but it seems like Courtemanche did everything in his power to fail me. He fails to teach the material in an understandable manner, then he gives a whole chapters worth of homework to do in a night, which he then doesn't take up or even look at. He grades homework by "quizing" which he insists may be taking up homework but usually ends up with him having us rewrite our test grades, which usually average around a 70 (good by his terms). When I asked for him to post explanations of the homework, he refused, saying I could find them in the book. Although you do have the answers in the back of the book, you cannot find explanations, and usually are forced to relearn the material on your own time. You waste an hour in his class only to be forced to either have him reexplain it in office hours or learn it on your own. When I told him I have too many other assignments to come in to his office hours, he stated that math should be the most important thing in my life at all times. This guy is seriously both annoying and should be fired from the graduate program.   - Grade In Class:C+
