Comments:2310 - Excellent teacher and a wonderful person. Dr.E is clear on what is on his midterm, final, 1 paper, and 3 short responses. He pulls the questions from the topics he presents during class, so just attend class and you'll get an A. I very much enjoyed this class. Easy as long as you get audible and hit 1.2 speed on the novel readings, and look over sparknotes before the quizzes. I see some people have said the quotes on the quizzes are difficult, I would say they are easy. Just know the person's character traits and it will be obvious who said the quote. Overall, great professor and if you're a stem major this class is so manageable with your upper-level stem courses.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 2310 - Dr. Engebretson is one of the few professors that made me comfortable speaking in a class. Not only is he respectful but he assigns readings that are quite enjoyable. Onto how the class is structured grading wise: 10% comes from showing up with that days text and speaking in class, 15% is covered by easy (sometimes oddly specific) quizzes, another 15% is composed of reading journals, 20% is the midterm, 20% is a 1,000 word essay, and the last 20% is the final. The midterm and final exams (written in a blue book) ask you to identify the author/title of the text of quotes with an explanation of why they’re significant and have 1-2 essay type questions on the 2nd halves. They’re not formatted to be difficult but you’ll need to complete the readings legitimately to pass. Despite making this class sound easy the readings can sometimes be long so I highly suggest spacing them out to cover fewer pages every day rather than reading the amount in full bulk (you’ll be surprised at how much less work it’ll feel like). The class is pretty chill as he won’t force you to read or answer if you feel uncomfortable and couldn’t have asked for a better professor for this class. Highly recommend him :)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Dr. E is a very fun guy; however, his readings assignments are not. We averaged 65-75 pages a night and his reading quizzes were 6 questions and you only had to choose five. All the quiz questions were asking about who asked a certain quote within the readings. This gave me much difficulty because I can't remember who said 15 words out of 75 pages.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2301 - Dr. E is amazing! Took the wintermester Brit lit course. It was a lot (as expected), but he was willing to work with us in order to make sure that we understood everything. Actually gives you feedback on your work! If I had the chance, I'd take him again. Just make sure to keep up with the work. If you keep up, you'll do great!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Brit Lit - Dr. E is great, he makes a potentially boring class entertaining and has chosen reading that is at interesting as it could be for this course. It is easy to get a good grade as long as you show up, take the quizzes and get the four, short response papers in. The only time it gets to be a lot is during Jane Austen but he breaks it up well. Take him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Dr.E is the best professor I’ve had at Baylor thus far. He truly cares about his students and their well-being. He has us complete two modules a week, which is manageable. He makes you feel important to him by sending emails to you, checking in, and asking what he can do you help. He is very accommodating as well! If you don't know who to take for 2310, you can't go wrong with Dr. E!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 2310 - Dr. E was honestly a pleasant teacher. The readings were easy to follow, he asked insightful questions to guide discussion, pop quizzes kept us accountable for reading, and the response papers were simply laid out making it easy to succeed in meeting the prompt. However, Dr. E was not willing to cooperate with my attendance accommodation through OALA after he realized how often I was using that accommodation for my mental health. Dr. Williams was so understanding of this, she knew depression can affect people in a way that they don't know if they're going to be able to get out of bed the next day unless it is that morning. Most of the time people with depression simply can't. It sounds extreme, but that's where I was. I was seeing a psychiatrist, a counselor, on medication, and life was still as hard as possible. All my other professors were patient, in constant communication with me, and I was doing well not to fall severely behind in any course. This was not enough for Dr. E. Halfway through the semester, he told me I only had 3 absences left or I would fail the course. He said he could do this because he spoke to OALA, not my health care providers who advised me to utilize this accommodation, but OALA. I understand for Dr. E that this was because I was missing in-class discussion and discussions were most of the course to him, but when we went online because of the pandemic he did nothing to simulate class discussion. We only took two quizzes a week with a few response papers. I finished most of these quizzes in one night. This non-negotiable factor, discussion, of his course was somehow only negotiable as he saw fit instead of meeting me where I needed, where my health care providers were advocating for me to be met as a student going through a difficult time. Dr. E is a genuinely good person, but this experience in his course deeply hurt me. I wouldn't recommend taking Dr. E if you're going through a difficult time or needing to utilize any OALA accommodations. His course is great if you need a quick & easy English credit or if you are looking for thoughtful discussions. Although, Dr. E may have learned from this experience and may handle this situations better in the future. I just want to advise anyone struggling on the Baylor campus that this *may* not be the course for you if you're looking for unwavering support from a professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:American Literature - Dr. E is one of the best professors I have ever had, and certainly the best English professor. He is extremely respectful of the students. During discussion, he would treat every student's viewpoint with respect, and try to point out the significance and importance of what the student said, even if it wasn't correct. He is super young, so he really understands students. He tries to pick texts that are relevant to student lives, and is super awesome to talk to outside of class. His grading is also really awesome too. The midterm/final each consisted of 9 identification/short answer questions followed by an essay. Dr. E grades really easily, as the average for both was around an 88%. There's also 4 400-word response papers, which is just a completion grade, and a 5 page essay at the end of the semester. The hardest part are the near-daily quizzes, which pull from quotes straight from the texts. However, I literally did not read a single book the entire semester and just Sparknoted everything and still had a B average. So if you actually put in the work, the quizzes should not be that hard. Also, don't worry about the participation grade. Dr. E claims if you don't participate in class, he'll drop your participation grade. However, he gave me a 90% and I almost never spoke up in class. Overall, if you put in a decent amount of work, it is super easy to get an A. I slacked off and didn't care about this class, and I still got a B+. Just take Dr. E.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1302 - DR. E IS SUPER GREAT TAKE HIM!!! His class is really fun and interactive. He is super funny and young and really passionate about what he does. There are 6 essays total (3-4 pages each) and he does not grade super hard. There are just a couple reading assignments for every class and pop quizzes, BUT TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - ABSOLUTELY TAKE DR. E IF YOU CAN! He is a great teacher who really knows his stuff and makes an effort to make it interesting and enjoyable for the class. The workload is super light with some outside reading and essays that are extremely easy. For the research paper, I suggest you pick something that you really care about or else it will make it difficult to find the inspiration to work on it with everything else going on. Overall, Dr. E is great and I thoroughly enjoyed his class and would recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - Dr. E is cool. He's always cracking jokes to keep everyone's attention. The readings aren't bad at all compared to other reading classes. There's 4 small response papers over stuff we've read. 1 essay, a midterm, final and daily quizzes. Midterm and final consisted of 10 quotes and 1 short essay. Quizzes are really easy and he drops 2 at the end of the semester. However, my only complaint is that he didn't upload several grades before the final. I went into the final without knowing 2 response paper grades and a quiz grade. He didn't upload our essay grades until the day before finals (a month and week after we turned it in). Overall, the class is easy if you just read and know what's going on in the stories.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1304 - Dr. E is the best. I'd take him again if he didn't have a long waitlist. He's sarcastic and talks so calmly it's hilarious. He'll gave about 3 quizzes over some readings during the semester, but they're not hard if you just read the book. The essays aren't hard. The final research paper is a pain so make sure you pick a topic you really like or you'll hate yourself for a month. I really like that he made 3 pages of your research paper due at different times so it made sure that I wasn't trying to write an 8 page essay the night before it was due. His way of doing the research paper really wasn't too stressful. He's super cool about asking questions so go right ahead. Just don't be weirded out if he's always making awkward eye contact with you during class. Take him if you can get into his class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Dr. Engebretson is the best! He is in his early 30s and is very relatable. He always cracks jokes and attempts to make this class enjoyable. He is very helpful with each paper and goes to great lengths to answer any of your questions. English is one of my better subjects, so I actually enjoyed his class and it was not too hard for me. If you are not, he is still extremely helpful and wants your writing to get better while you are in his class. Regarding the big research paper, he sets smaller deadlines throughout the class, so you are not able to completely procrastinate on it, which helped me because I am a notorious procrastinator. Although, you do have to put a lot of time and effort into your papers, but that would be for any class or any professor at Baylor. If you can get Engebretson, take him! He is wonderful and he is willing to just talk about your interests and life with you in his office hours. He is one of my favorite professors I have had at Baylor!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1304 - Engebretson was really easy pick. He guides you through the research paper and makes sure you do well on it. He offers some extra credit, but I did not need it. Engebretson is still rather young, so his lectures are quite relatable. He makes class fun and enjoyable. Take Engebretson!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - I took him for American Lit, and he is an awesome teacher. His class is not a blow off class, you do have to read almost ALL of the readings because he has a random weekly quiz and they are quotes so you cannot sparknote them. BUT the workload is manageable. I had the class at 1115 on mwf and it was my first class so I would just always wake up 1-2 hours before class and do the reading then. Like I said it isn\'t a blow off class, and you do have to read, but he makes it worth it. His class is not boring at all, he is very funny and engaging. Plus he is cute and nice :) So if you are looking to not learn don\'t take him, but if you kinda enjoy reading you should definitely take him because he is wonderful! (and did I mention funny)   - Grade In Class:A
