Comments:1309 - The only reason I did well in this class was that I had a really good calc professor in high-school. Even so, she made this class unnecessarily hard and wasn't always sure on concepts herself (she once told us she looked something up on Wikipedia). She is strictly a math person teaching business calculus and doesn't do the best job of explaining the applications in the business world. She is also a grad student and was often pre-occupied. Grading took forever. She was very nitpicky on tests and would take off points anywhere she could. Examples she would go over in class were very simple and then everyone would struggle with the homework. She would also conflict with the way the textbook taught or wanted answers and would try and take off points if it wasn't how she wanted it. However, she is a sweet lady but not a great teacher. And, her not having an SI didn't help anyone. If you haven't taken calc before, take anyone else.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1321 - very sweet teacher and pretty helpful. I've taken calc before so that made the course very easy for me but Swindle was extremely fair in grading and as long as you set up the problems right on the test you will get at least a C. i got super sick near finals week and Swindle was extremely understanding and was flexible with me missing our last test and making it up. If you've taken calc before take her; it's super easy. if not it's still very easy to get an A as long as you do homework every night and put the work in  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1309 - Only take this class if you have taken calc before!! It seems easy at first because homework is just completion and she gives daily homework quizzes. But then the test comes and you won't know anything. She does give 10 extra credit points on every test if you complete the last question.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2321 - I had Ms. Swindle for Calc 3. I'm very conflicted about how to rate her. After reading the May 2017 review, it is clear to me that she is a very different teacher now than she was in May 2017. She posts weekly homework, however, my one complaint about that is that she ended up being weeks late on the homework in many cases, and homework is the backbone of learning for me in a math class. Her tests are generally okay, we had one test where the class average was a 60 and she had to do a curve, which was definitely nice of her. Her lectures are where some of the problems lay. The lectures are very fast-paced and theorem-heavy, with occasional examples. Often-times, we would be behind and she would have to rush topics, and so my learning of a topic was a little bit under-developed. One thing I love about Ms. Swindle is her availability. I needed help with the homework often, and I found her to be very gracious in her out of office hours availability. She was always willing to walk me through a problem or even a whole homework if I was really struggling and it aided my understanding of the material heavily. Overall, it is definitely possible to do well in Ms. Swindle's course. A lot of work has to be put in on your part to learn material if the lecture didn't cut it for you. PLEASE utilize her office hours and ask her for help, that is the one thing that really saved me in the class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1321 - If you're naturally good at math, she's a really sweet and enthusiastic professor and it's possible to skate by without doing much work and get a decent grade. If you struggle with math, probably look for someone better at explaining the concepts. I really enjoyed her class though.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Calculus 3 - TLDR: Please do not take Ms. Swindle as your teacher. Just to preface this I wanted to let y'all know that I'm an engineering undergrad who has gotten on the Dean's list every semester here. Ms. Swindle's cal 3 class was the hardest course I've taken here so far. The workload was insane, she only taught us how to do around a third of the homework problems, and the lectures were extremely confusing and unhelpful. She ended the last few classes in the semester by teaching the concepts and not doing any examples in her lectures! I don't know if she's planning on using this system again, but the grading system for my class was extremely different and weird. We had "tokens" to spend on things and were required to do things like post class notes for Learning Contribution Points. These points were often hard to come by and to make an A in the class you needed 10 of them! Ms. Swindle is a nice person and she cares about her students and the subject. She just doesn't know how to teach the subject and is out of touch with most of her students. Hopefully you find this helpful. I strongly recommend choosing NOT to take Ms. Swindle.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1321 - Professor Swindle is very passionate about math. She explains everything very well. I am not good at math at all, and never been, and she took the time to meet with me and made sure I understood the concepts very well.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:MTH 1321 - Professor Swindle is definitely very passionate about math, however, her teaching ability is horrible. Classes consist of the majority of the time going through the examples that are in the text book and often times she does not even know how to do the example. One day most likely because she realized she could not explain how to do every problem she suggested to the class that we use wolfram alpha instead of asking her. She is unprepared and at 8 am the last place you want to be is in her class. The only reason I have an A is because my high school calculus teacher was phenomenal. Everyday we have a one problem quiz from the homework assigned the night before. The quizzes are easy and she lets you use your homework, but if you do not do the homework then they can hurt you. The only way she helps you prepare for tests and the final is by telling you to rework all of the homework problems. Also, because of how unorganized she was our class fell behind schedule and we had a test on the very last day of class two days before finals started. When it comes down to it, Professor Swindle is very passionate about math, but she is condescending and an inadequate teacher. Good luck to all who take her!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1321 - Miss Swindle is a grad student who loves math and with that she tells you she makes her exams very challenging because she wants you to fully understand concepts not just be able to do the problem. I had an A+ in Calc 1 in high school and have a B+ in her class, very hard I would not take her again.   - Grade In Class:B+
