Comments:ACC 5V98 - Dr. Shallcross was selected as the professor for Advanced Excel after Dr. Lail took a higher position within the business school and man did he make this class useful but also very manageable. Homework is worth 60% of the grade with projects making up most of the rest of the grade. This was his first time teaching the class and while he was a little spotty with his knowledge on MACROS and VBA, that's completely okay since it's his first semester teaching the class and he was informed he would teach it somewhat last minute. Shallcross's calling card is the quality of person he is. He is one of the downright most respectful and helpful professors in the entire accounting department. He's very personable and approachable and makes classes with him very enjoyable. I definitely cannot recommend him enough.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 2301 - It's a LOT of work. I took the online version of the course. The prof is okay at teaching but is unwilling to give extra credit other than biweekly reading checks. All tests are proctored, you are allowed to have your notes on exams. Gives relatively little time for exams. It's very hard to receive a good grade in class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 2304 - I was really nervous for managerial considering I got a B- in financial. Shallcross explained things in a way that really made sense and was always so helpful during office hours. He is a really great guy inside and outside of the classroom. His exam reviews are very helpful and exams aren't too difficult if you know the material well, but I would recommend going to SI for reinforcement. There are parts of the class that are easier than others, but overall the class is pretty manageable if you stay on top of things.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Managerial Acc - Like many people have already said, accounting tends to be a hard class, which was the case for me, but I was blessed to have Prof Shallcross on my side. He was very helpful, engaging, and accessible. His tests were out of 25, which I found a lot more manageable than what other professors do (30 questions+) and the content was extremely similar to what he taught during class. The tests were in multiple choice format, with mostly situational working problems (utilizing math/formulas, etc) with some conceptual problems mixed in, although that varied with the chapters. I also found that his homework was not assigned as frequently as other classes, most of the Wiley Plus homework has a video tab that basically solves the entire assignment for you. He also gave extra credit and did a Kahoot review in the class before the exam. Standard grading practice for the Accounting department also applies (A is a 90%+, final can replace lowest test grade, etc) which is awesome because it gives you leeway in the event of a bad score. Overall, would 100% recommend prof Shallcross.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - Accounting is definitely a hard class no matter who you take. This class was hard for me because I'm not an accounting major and because accounting doesn't come naturally to me. However, Professor Shallcross is seriously the nicest professor I've ever had at Baylor. He is the sweetest guy, and always tried to make classes fun (brought us candy, showed us fun videos, played the Baylor basketball recap game when we won the Natty Champ). Our grades consisted of 4 tests and some homework. There was homework due just about every class day but it was all online and was never that bad. The tests were tough for me, but he gives a pretty thorough review which helped a lot if you really knew it. The final (if it is above a 70) replaces your lowest test grade! He is seriously so sweet, he shared his testimony with us on the last day of class AND brought us donuts on the day of the final! He goes really fast when he teaches, but is always available and willing to help during office hours. We always did Kahoot for test reviews and that was so helpful, and you get extra credit just for going to class! Take Shallcross, you won't regret it. :)  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2304 - Professor Shallcross is one of my favorite professors at Baylor. He is so kind and genuinely cares about his student's success. Accounting can be pretty difficult at times but Professor Shallcross is hands down the best professor you could get for managerial accounting. The tests are 25 questions and are pretty straight-forward. He gives you a test review and so many extra practice problems. take shall cross if you can!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ACC 3101 - Finally, a career management class that isn't a total waste of time. He is a really nice guy and his class is interesting. Awesome networking opportunities and the assignments are designed to help you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3101 - unlike BUS 2101, 1101, and 1201 Daniel's class is not an utter waste of time. You actually start networking with companies and build relationships with recruiters. More importantly, Daniel has done an awesome job being flexible with his class structure to make sure that students get the most out of it during the pandemic.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 2301 - Dan is honestly the best, a super nice guy and a good teacher. I made a B in this class but not because of him- it was because of the new online formatting. Accounting is hard and not intuitive, so I had a hard time picking it up. It's nice because the final is optional, and there's an 8% bump on the homework. If you struggle in the class as I did, you can use your notes on the tests and accept a B in the class. It's not ideal, but if you're liberal arts and need an out it's nice to have. Overall Dan does the best with what the department gives him. I think he'd have more A's if he was able to teach both sections, but that's not his fault.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2301 - He is a great professor. Some people seemed to struggle in the class, but I thought it was easy. He is very willing to help and explains things throughout class. He provides fill-in-the-blank notes for you. He gives an 8% bonus on the homework. He drops a quiz grade. Quizzes are online. Tests are all MC. The final is optional. Overall, an easy A and probably the easiest prof for accounting.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 2303 - My grade wasn't great but that 100% wasn't because of this Professor. He was extremely organized, explained thoroughly in class, was completely open and non-judgmental about questions in or out of class. I didn\'t take full advantage of his availability and willingness to help, but I was also dealing with other things and that\'s why my grade is a C. He\'s a great guy and a great teacher and if you get the chance you should take him for financial accounting.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:ACC 2303 - Professor Shallcross is kind, thorough with his lectures, and relatively forgiving with his workload. His notes are fill-in-the-blank and incredibly detailed, which makes lectures and studying a total breeze. Homework can take a while, but you're given multiple chances to answer each question correctly and it really aids with understanding the material at the end of the day. Tests are fair and you can rack up a ton of bonus points if you do the reading quizzes for each chapter. You really can't ask for more from an accounting professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - Financial Accounting- TAKE SHALLCROSS . He's an awesome professor and is very clear and well spoken in his lectures. If you need help you can go into his office ours and he will be there to help you. It's a difficult class and t I promise you that he will make it easier.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ACC2303 - Professor Shallcross is the best!! He is so organized and provides notes to be filled in every class. He makes everything very clear and is always willing to answer questions. I've learned so much in this class and I never thought I would actually enjoy accounting but thanks to him, I really do. The homework can sometimes take a while to complete, but it really helps you understand the material for the exams, which are straight forward and not too difficult. I highly recommend him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 2303 - Professor Shallcross has an extremely organized and forgiving accounting class. He provides students with notes that very specifically translate to test questions, as well as provides chapter reviews at the ends of each notes. He grades homework assignments on a curve, replaces your lowest test grade with whatever your final exam score is, and gives a five point bonus to each test if you do the reading checks outside of class(which are pretty easy). Even if you do not like accounting, this class is the best way to learn it without any of the stress or hassle that a lot of other professors can give you. Plus if you love accounting, this class will give you an excellent foundation for the future. Would HIGHLY recommend Shallcross.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - TAKE SHALLCROSS. He's very helpful and his lecture notes are very straight forward. The exams will come straight from the notes and he will usually emphasize exactly what will be on the exam. Great teacher and nice guy. Would take him if possible (even at 8am).  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2303 - I'm hoping to get a B or B+. Shallcross is my favorite professor. He just had a kid, so he's pretty young. Definitely worth it, I have him at 8am and wish I could have him for 2304. He's always available whether it's for ACC or anything else. He gives you the material straight forward. It's definitely not a blow off class, so you'll have to study but thats how all ACC classes will be like. His class consist of 4 tests, 4 quizzes, a final, and online homework (plus reading checks which will give you +5 points on the each test if you get above a 70 or 80% average). The online homework sucks but you get 2 tries per question, so you're bound to get an A on all of his homework (plus he gives 8% back, so if you have a 92% average on homework, its basically a 100%). His test can be tricky sometimes, but definitely do-able if you study. They're multiple choice and work out problems. Take him!!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ACC 2302 - I took this class as a first semester freshman and I was definitely nervous about it. I have heard that Accounting is often a class that students struggle with, but Shallcrosse presented information in a straightforward and easy to follow manner. He provided his students with plenty of examples and practice problems and his tests were very straightforward. He is a first year teacher so it seemed most of the time he wasn't quite sure how to teach we just went through notes and examples. Overall this class is easy as long as you fully understand how to do the in class examples you will be fine.  - Grade In Class:A
