*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:GEO 1402 - I'll start with this: Fulton is a very smart man. He's sweet too. Very passionate about what he talks about, but... Class was kinda hard. I put in A LOT of work and went to office hours too.... Exams are weighted pretty light actually (I think 4 normal, 1 cumulative final... The final was easier than the other exams unironically.) Exams are open-note. Def take good notes. The exams were lowkey harder than I thought they should've been, but I made low to mid Bs on them so it was alright. Figuring out how to study was the hard part. In my experience, some of what he said in class didn't show up in the exams and that massively irritated me. He kinda just rambled in class... The reading assignments were a pain in the butt. That part of the workload was probably the worst and why his workload rating is low. What others are saying about it were true in my experience. Quiz questions and NEOS assignments weren't too bad. You can find the quiz questions on Quizlet. My recommendation: write out ALL the quiz questions. They will show up on the exams. Literally exactly as they do in the quizzes. I think It'd be foolish not to do this as his tests are open note. The lab section is not hard though and I actually liked it more than the lecture section. TAs are also great (Get Connor White if he still TAs, ISTG he's the best.) Overall: An A is 100% possible, I got a 93 to be specific but this is NOT a simple blow-off class. Study and ask questions and you'll do fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GEO 1402 - This class is perfect for non science majors trying to knock out a science credit. All exams are take home and you have the entire day to do it. Homework consists of short in class assignments and a online reading assignment and quiz due weekly. Homework is not hard, just busy work. For lab, get Conner White! Absolutely best TA. If you are struggling with anything he will walk you through it and make it very understandable and he prepares you very well for lab midterm and final which has to be in class, but it's not too hard. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Geo 1402 - I dont know why his rating is so low. James Fulton is one of the best teachers I have ever had. As a business major, this class is so easy. You do have a lot of busy work, but it's really easy to figure out, and all his tests are online (wink wink). He is so kind and is always willing to help if you ask. TAKE HIM!!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1402 - Dr. Fulton is so kind and passionate while he's lecturing. But I will say that the workload is A LOT and you have about 60+ questions on connect a week. If you don't wait until the last minute it's fine, but still extremely time consuming. The TA I currently have for lab is extremely awful. She doesn't know how to teach or even just answer our questions about the lab. She makes passive-aggressive comments and makes us feel like idiots. She singles students out and plays favorites. There is no reason that an OCEANS LAB should be this difficult. The other sections get the answered handed to them, but we write paragraphs and still get graded very harsh. My peers are fed up and so am I. Take this class, but be cautious about what section you choose. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GEO 1402 - Professor Fulton is very passionate about the topics that we learn in this course! He is a very kind man who clearly loves what he does. It seems like a heavy course load, but it really managable. Tests are open book & open note, which make them very easy! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1402 - I had Dr. Fulton for World Oceans and, yes the class is boring, but I'm not sure why is rating is so low because it's ridiculously easy. There are weekly readings and quizzes that take a while but the answers are all online. There are in-class NEOS assignments every Thursday but, again, they're super easy and take 5 minutes max. The tests are all online and at home. The lectures are hard to get through but I honestly did the readings during class and it wasn't bad at all. I highly recommend if you need an easy science credit. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GEO 1401 - Dr. Fulton is a very sweet man, who displays a passion for his class. If you are required to take a lab science course, this is the one to do. The class itself was extremely easy. There are weekly readings and quizzes online, but they are very easy to get through and are good grade boosters. He has a few tests, which aren’t hard, nor are they heavily weighted, and they are taken online outside of class (and you are allowed use of the textbook and notes). You are certain to do well in this class if you just show up and do your assignments (even if you don’t show up to class you’ll be fine as long as your attendance doesn’t dip below the minimum). - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1402 - He's actually okay, and a very kind and passionate man about his work. Everything is essentially online, including the tests and they are open book, so that really helps. Also, there is just a lot of reading but you really don't need TOO much effort in his class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:World Oceans - This class was way harder than it needed to be. An “A” is definitely possible, but the homework assignments are way too much. Make sure to study the quiz answers because they are on the exams. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1402 - Honestly, the workload was a lot. There are 2 readings and 2 quizzes due every week. Make sure to study the quizzes because some of the questions or similar questions will show up on the exams. If you study you will do well. Also, doing well in the lab is crucial to doing well in the class. The lab bumped my grade up a bunch. Fulton makes jokes in class and gets very excited about rocks. He really cares about what he is teaching and really cares about his students. 10/10 recommend. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:World Oceans - I would not recommend this professor. The workload is ridiculous. It took me hours to do the online homework for this class, and it wasn't even helpful for the tests. Fulton is a nice guy but he spends time talking about things that aren't even important for the class. I'm kinda mad that I took this because I was told it would be an easy science and Fulton tries to make it a "legit" science class, which it doesn't need to be. DO NOT TAKE. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1402 - I thought Dr. Fulton was a decent teacher for a lecture. He had weekly homework/quizzes, but it was the tests that hurt my grade. He often brought up material hardly mentioned in class that I was unprepared for on the tests. However, I did well on his final, so that brought my grade up at the last minute. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:World Oceans - This class was recommended to me as an easier class for non-majors, but I think that\'s because they didn\'t realize the professor changed last year and Dr. Fulton\'s course is actually fairly difficult. It\'s a lot of memorization of facts, requires no critical thinking, and somehow still manages to be tedious and fails to engage students. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1402 - World Oceans: Overall he was an ok teacher but for being an elective class for credit it requires a lot of work. I studied for his tests a lot and got Bs on all of them. There is weekly homework assignments which aren't too bad. If you really try (or love the oceans) you could get an A but for a business major most of the class was irrelevant and boring. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1401 - For being a "rocks for jocks," this class is pretty difficult. I took it as a lab science because I needed it for my major, but it was much harder than I anticipated. He is an awkwardly funny guy, and I dont dread going to class, but I drift off sometimes because its a pretty boring subject matter. Just do well on the online quizzes and go to your lab sessions, and you'll be fine. Study hard for the exams though because those will get you if youre not careful. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1401 - Rocks for jocks.... Never listen to that. Dr. Fulton is a great guy, very nice and very funny. He is a bit awkward and cannot teach very well. I took this as a science credit being a business major. I took the wrong class. First test average was a 64. There are 4 different tests and they stay the same difficulty. There are not that many people that pass. If you need to get your science credit being a business major I most definitely recommend not taking this class. If you are into geology and want to do that in the future then by all means take this guy. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1401 - Dr. Fulton is great. His class isn't extremely hard and he's lenient with grading. always available for office hours and makes classes fun by putting his own twists on the subject at hand. definitely recommend taking him! - Grade In Class:A
