Comments:ENG 2301 - I have never had a teacher be more passionate about their subject than Professor Dickinson. He taught the historical context of every book we read, which was really interesting. I didn’t think I would get too much out of a mandatory brit lit course, but I actually found this course to be very rewarding. Professor Dickinson really cared that his students got something out of the texts. Great teacher, always available to meet with students.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2301 - Let me go ahead and set the record straight for Professor Dickinson. He is a very intelligent and caring man especially towards his students. I had him for British Literature and I would recommend him in a heartbeat. I will go ahead and say that I hate reading literature and Brit Lit can get confusing... However, 99.9999% I Sparknoted everything. If you do choose him for a Brit Lit course, you do have homework due every class and honestly, it is very easy and a very easy grade category to get a 100. In other words, do it. Also, show up and participate. It doesn't matter if you are good with analysis or not just speak and you can get an easy grade for your attendance. His projects do come at a rather last minute but with careful planning and not doing anything at the last minute, you can get an easy 90+ grade for that category. The only thing I did not do well on was the mid-term but I ended up getting a 90 on the final. Also, do not hesitate to go to his office hours for help on the paper project.... if you do and listen to his revisions, you can get an easy A on the paper. All in all, I had a great experience with him. I would have gotten an A had I not done poorly on the mid-term but if you follow my advice, you should be golden.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2301 - I never doubted that Professor Dickinson deeply cares about his students and the literature we read. He is always available (literally 9-4 everyday) and his excitement about class makes it fun to learn from him. Although he has a heavy workload it is all relevant. It isn't easy, so I wouldn't recommend him to someone who doesn't like english, but lets not forget we pay for this school and brit lit is a requirement find joy in the class--it's there!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Ok this guy is not a very good teacher. He's one of those teacher who treats you like you're in middle school. He's the only teacher I've ever had who had a substitute instead of just canceling class. He hates when people talk in class, will count you absent if he thinks you're not paying attention, and will count you absent if your phone is out. He's rude and he doesn't grade by the rubric. He basically pulls your grade out of thin air. He's terrible at explaining what he is looking for on the essay. At first, our homework was very centered around our essays, but later in the class he start just giving us busy work. Last semester I took 1302 with Mrs. Kunkel (Salinas) and I never made a B on an essay. This semester I've made 2 C's and a B-. He gives participation grades, but he puts them in randomly and never gives anyone a 100. On the first essay he gave another girl in the class a 0 because he didn't like her essay. He offers one re-write, but he still rides hard. Unless you REALLY like English I would not recommend him. Overall his grading was super whack and he never used a rubric, nor did he offer explanation for why he graded your essay the way he did. Save yourself the hassle and take someone else.   - Grade In Class:B
