*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:ECO1380 - Dr. Klein is an amazing teacher. I personally loved her because her teaching style works well with me. She does not have any PowerPoint slides or textbook readings she literally just teaches lectures every class period. She projects a piece of paper on the board and takes notes with you while she is lecturing and this teaching style really worked well for me. This class is definitely more micro than macro but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The workload is heavy. She does not provide a lot of study materials or practice problems which is one of the downsides. There is not an insane amount of assignments but you will spend A LOT of time studying for the exams, they are pretty difficult and you need to study more then you think. The good thing though is that she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. If you show up to her class every day, take notes, do the assignments, and prepare well for the exams you should definitely get a B+ or an A. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - sandy is chill but lord will you be studying all the time. her saving grace is the curve on the final, my grade went from a C to a B+ from it like the curve is so big so that can save you. she teaches with stories and she def knows what shes talking about its just like not an easy class also she does "pop" quizzes for extra credit like every other class which is annoying - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Avoid this class if possible, she doesn't teach you anything that is on the final. It's a do-able class, but the questions on exams seem random and do not align with the examples in class at all. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1380 - Nice lady, terrible teacher. Doesn’t not prepare you for test at all. Only gives abt 5 practice problems completely unrelated to the tests. Tells stories all class and can’t tell what she’s trying to teach or just yap about. Just writes down words on paper and expects us to get the exact definition from her dumb stories. Nice lady, not a good teacher. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ECO2306 - This class is made up of quizzes and 3 exams. There are many opportunities for extra credit so I would really try to get it when you can. The quizzes are super easy, 5 questions max. My main issue with this class is that you have to differentiate between the fluff/stories she goes on about in class and the actual information that you need to know. I took economics in highschool, but if I hadn't I'm not sure that I would have done super well on the tests, so you have to study and get the extra credit. Overall it can be a pretty long/boring class, but she's not mean, her test can just be a bit tricky. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - Sandy seems very nice saying how you can always come into your office even if you need a hug. DONT'T FALL FOR THE SWEETNESS. She only explains definitions in class, BUT the exams consists of concept based mc WHICH WE WEREN'T PREPARED FOR. She says to do the practice problems on canvas which are short answer questions and usually consists of 3-5 questions (not very helpful). Also you can never ask a simple question in office hours such as "can you re-explain this" she will say no. She wants you to ask SPECIFIC questions. There are only 2 tests which are 25% each, reading quizzes, and a comprehensive final which is 35%. You are able to get your two lower tests grades dropped if your final is higher than your best score (same for your lower test grade). I'm so disappointed because I understood all the concepts and how to solve them (with them from my friends practice questions from another class). I barley got a C on the final with my bonus points (she gives lots of opportunity for those). Her questions genuienly make no sense, and she just yaps in them and it gets confusing. She also runs out of time in class because she likes to talk about how she is the "princess of the laundrymat". If you do bad on a test she blames the class, even though we were not prepared for it. I honestly thought I was going to get and A, I was wrong. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Microeconomics - ****DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!**** This is by far the worst professor I have ever had at Baylor. She is so unhelpful and could care less about your performance in the class. I know so many people who had to drop this class. Sandy Klein just tells stories that slightly relate to micro but do not prepare you for the exams. There are no exam reviews or homework that guide you. The only thing that goes into your final grade are quizzes weighted 15%, two midterms weighted 25%, and a final weighted 35%. What happened to me was I completely bombed the two midterms and she has a policy where the final can replace the two midterm grades. Somehow by the grace of God I got an 89 on the final. But, when I tell you I studied like a dog, I studied like a dog. I have never been so stressed in my entire life about school. Just please do not take her and find a professor that cares about your wellbeing. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO 2306 - This class was a tricky one to navigate through. If you are tired of having boring teachers that make you want to fall asleep I would definitely recommend Professor Klein. She has a lot of good stories that can help you remember concepts better, and that, if remembered, can be helpful come test time. With that being said, there could have been more guidance with the test. I was not really sure what to expect, and got a very good grade on the first test, but it was all downhill from there. It takes a pretty impressive performance to pull off an A in her class, so if you are looking for an easy class, do not take Professor Klein. But on the bright side, I must say that I learned more economics than I would have with other professors, although that A would have been nice. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. In this class, you are never prepared for an exam. The practice problems she gives before a test have no help whatsoever. You have to practically teach yourself everything for the two exams you have before the final. No homework to help reinforce topics or even to boost your grade. Only weekly quizzes that have no grade significance (unless you lose one point off and it drops your total grade a lot). Her teaching style may be helpful to some, but for the first exam, our class average was incredibly low. Aside from her teaching, she is a genuinely a nice woman, but not a great professor. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2306 - Professor Klein teaching style was unique by not using power points and writing down little information however she is the most engaging and personable professor I have had. She tells stories from her past and relates them to economics. The two tests and the final of majority of your grade, however the tests were pretty straightforward but you did have to understand the concepts and definitions and then be able to apply to a word problem. I walked into her class not knowing anything about economics and enjoyed every class period!! I personally recommend professor Klein and she is extremely helpful in her office hours and will respond quickly to emails!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:ECO 2306 - I'm confused by these negative reviews, but perhaps I just enjoyed her teaching style, which is a little bit different than some people might be used to. I came in not knowing anything about economics and I left her class an economics major. I learned very well from her teaching style of pretty much just drawing graphs over and over again. There isn't a power point so you really have to write down what she is saying, but I didn't think that was insane or anything until I read these reviews. Sandy is hilarious and makes class genuinely fun to attend. I met a very good friend of mine throught the class because she makes it a very social environment. I will say, her homeworks, which were through Inquizitive, had next to nothing to do with what would be on the exams so I would just do them to get them over with but otherwise ignore them entirely. There is a distinct focus on the graphs and knowing what affects them. Studying that will give you a good understanding and you can easily do well. Plus there's extra credit opportunities which is always very helpful. One more complaint I do have, which someone else mentioned, was that because of the way that she puts in the extra credit grades, your Canvas grade is HEAVILY inflated and its next to impossible to know what you have in the class at any given time. Overall, I thought Sandy Klein was a great professor who taught subjects thoroughly and with an air of positivity and comedy. She was very approachable and helpful and wanted to see students succeed. Maybe economcis is just my thing (seeing as its now my major) but I hate to see all of these negative reviews for a teacher who taught me to love a topic I had never touched before, and helped me learn so much. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - ***PLEASE READ*** Ok, I am very surprised by all these negative reviews. It may be just related to learning style, because Professor Klein was hands down my favorite professor to this day. She uses real life stories to help illustrate her points and is SO kind and available to help. Every class she will remind students that they are ALWAYS welcome at her office hours and to come to her if you need any helps. She says she will help you do well in the class if you just come to her office hours when you get stuck. And this is so true. Although the concepts can be difficult to grasp, her way of teaching and drawing graphs really helped me understand the materials. On top of that, she is SO SWEET and invites everyone to her house for pancakes. I'm not sure why there are so many awful reviews because she is such a sweet and genuinely helpful teacher. I am not some natural genius, but I was able to pull a B+ in the class because her teaching helped me really understand econ. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - this class is ridiculous. Sandy is super kind and tells funny stories, but the class is so difficult to do well. The way she teaches she just stands at the front of class. No ppt. And she just writes a few key words on a piece of paper and its your job to grasp the rest. As for the tests, she tests over things that we barely touched on. The averages on tests would be failing, and when she would hand them back she would explain how disappointed she was in us. Moral of the story, very sweet lady. I just wouldn't recommend her as a professor. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Klein is super nice and is a hilarious person. She tells a lot of great stories throughout the class. I met my friends through this class. She doesn't care if you have side conversations with your peers. While I got an A, I know so many people who struggled. The only reason I got an A was because I already had a good understanding of microeconomics. She is a really bad teacher. I'm being generous calling her a teacher. She didn't do anything. She often drew the graphs wrong. She also struggled explaining very basic microeconomic concepts. I'm convinced she isn't that smart. She doesn't have a passion for teaching, it is merely her means of employment. She also requires a textbook but goes on end about how bad the textbook is. If you have her, don't bother buying the textbook. You also never really know your true grade as she posts assignments incorrectly on canvas. Only take her if you have to or if you already have a good understanding of microeconomics. She is really nice though. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - I loved Professor Klein as a person! She is so caring and so funny. On the contrary I felt her tests were not indicative of what she taught and I struggled my to an A-. This was probably one of my harder classes this semester. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - While Dr. Klein is an incredibly kind and thoughtful lady, she is not the best professor for 2306. I came into this class knowing the reviews and was willing to give her a chance. Her notes, inquizitives, and final review games are meant to be helpful to understanding the topic, however, it did not help me as my learning style did not match with hers. She told us that the tests would be on everything that she wrote down in her notes, however, they were much more difficult than expected and mentioned different information. Then, she said that in order to be successful in this class, you need to study the material for at least five minutes a day, which makes sense, however, when I would go to office hours, the material did not make any more sense. If your teaching style matches with hers or if you have previous experience with microeconomics, it will be a great match. However, if you do have other options, I suggest taking other professors. I am disappointed with the turnout of this class, so I do have to retake it. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2306 - Easily my favorite professor I've had so far at Baylor! I see that there are a lot of negative reviews for her so maybe people dislike her based on their learning styles. Let me start off by saying that Klein is SO funny and is so easy to talk to. She is always available in her office to answer questions and she genuinely wants to help her students. As far as teaching style, she gives a lot of examples through stories and then draws graphs to go along with it. For me, this was very helpful and made it easy to learn because the stories helped me relate the material to the real world. It was always very easy to grasp. Tests can be difficult because they cover a lot of material. There are only 2 tests a semester and then the final. If you learn well through stories and examples, this class will be great for you. If you are a more technical thinker, then maybe her teaching style will not click with you. People are also saying in the reviews that her teaching does not line up with what is on the tests. She will give examples in class and then you have to be able to understand how the example relates to the graphs. If you have trouble with this just go to office hours and she will reexplain it to make sure you understand!! I love how available Sandy Klein is. If you are doing your best to get an A, she will do whatever it takes to help you and she is very approachable. Take Sandy Klein!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - I agree with many of the other negative reviews about Dr. Klein. While she is a nice lady, she is not the best professor. Her lectures do not correlate with questions asked on the test. During her lectures, she often goes off on tangents. Her tests themselves are all multiple choice and often have questions that have debatable answers. When I asked her to clarify on questions on the test, she did not clarify. During her lectures, she would often mess up on her graphs which comprised most of the notes and the material she expected us to know for the exams. Additionally, the class typically made C averages on most of the tests including the final and there were no curves. I was concerned about how I was doing in this class so I went to meet with her multiple times to see how I could improve. She told me I had nothing to worry about in her class. I now have to retake the same course next semester. Very disappointing. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2306 - Do not take Klein, her lectures don't really help with tests at all. Overall, a much harder teacher than every other teacher in the economics department, not very helpful either. Often goes on tangents during her lectures that distracts from learning any of the actual necessary material. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:ECO 2306 - Dr. Klein is a nice lady but this class was surprisingly difficult for how easy it seems. It’s nearly impossible to get an A in because of how difficult the tests are combined with an A being a 93. If someone got the highest score on every test and the final, and did all the homework, they’d barely get an A with about a 94. The material wasn’t horrible, just really bad grading scale. Dr. Klein is a decent Professor. She also took a week off in the middle of the second unit to go to Africa which resulted in lower test grades. It was nice to have 4 classes off but the test was rough. She will substitute the final for 2 or even all 3 of the tests, which means the final could weigh as much as about 80% of your grade. The final was easy, but getting a 93 or higher was still unlikely. This class seems so easy until the end when you realize an A is impossible. I would try to take someone else. An A- is possible, but I think most people get a B+. She's funny though. Not a bad class but Dr. Klein is sorta whack. She’s a freaky freak (you’ll know what I’m talking about later). - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Here's the thing about Klein, she is honestly the sweetest lady. Super easy to talk to and doesn't give much work outside of class. HOWEVER her lectures and tests were actually terrible. She would often forget how to draw some graphs or would even draw them wrong, so expect to learn a majority of the information outside of class. Even if you study the notes you take during the lecture, they would never translate well during the tests. Her tests are very difficult and would usually only have 30 questions. The reviews and the online homework she gave did not help me prepare for her tests. Try to avoid her. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - Don't get me wrong, Klein is absolutely a sweet lady and a kind soul. Yet, her teaching ability is practically not present. She gives lectures in class that are relatively easy to understand but then the tests are a complete 180. The test questions are multiple choice but almost every answer could be argued as right or wrong due to how she words the questions and answers on her tests. If you're looking for a nice teacher you can be friends with, Klein is the one. If you're looking for an A and a better grasp of actual economics, choose someone else. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - By far one of the worst professors I've taken at Baylor, that I almost switched my major. Dr Klein's lectures did not translate well to the test, and most of the notes and test review questions did not adequately prepare me for her tests. A lot of times in class she could not remember the right way to draw graphs, despite stating these were graphs we needed to understand and know. The homework wasn't very helpful. She also felt the need to project her often controversial opinions, which distracted me from actually understanding concepts. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Micro 2306 - Dr. Klein is a awesome teacher that gives great lectures. She uses examples that are helpful and memorable. She is very friendly and relates well with the students. She let us choose between some options for our last chapter to study and we ended up choosing the topics of economics of marijuana and the black market, super fun and interesting. There is very little outside work necessary, just a couple of short readings that she isn't strict on. Study hard because the tests are hard and not many qustions, usually out of only 30 points or so. She does trivia review days the class before a test and the winning team gets a couple points of extra credit which can be like 7% of a test, so try hard! The final exam was surprisingly easy, and if you do well, she will substitute your final for other lower exams. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECO2306 - Dr. Klein is a kind and caring professor, she would like to give extra office hour for students before the exams and really want her students to understand the material. However, her class is not very helpful. I would say if she could give her students study guide in her review session, things would be a lot easier for students to get through rather than just sit there and answer one or two student's questions for 2 hours. She does have homework from inquisitive, which can be time comsuming and not related much to her exams. Overall, you can consider her as an option but will not expect an easy A. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - Professor Klein did a fantastic job not only caring about us learning the material but also caring about us as people. I have not had a professor quite like her because she is kind, caring, interested in my life, and helpful. She has talked me through a difficult situation and has praised me when I do well. Concerning her class, she is well organized with what she will talk about each day but you have to know how to take notes from non-powerpoint lectures. Other than that, her tests are concept based so you have to ask questions if you don't get something in class. Was always available after class to talk about the material and answer questions. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2306 - Most of these ratings are over the top. Yes, the tests are difficult, but college isn't supposed to be easy. Write very good notes and if you still don't understand, actually attend an office hour. She is extremely helpful and can give you much more one on one help. Plus if you go in there the day before the test she tells you what some questions will look like. It's very conceptual, but definitely not impossible, you just really need to understand the concepts. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Micro - Take her for Micro!! If you take good notes and listen during lectures you should do fine on her tests. The reviews help somewhat but you have to study for tests. The quizzes are at home, on canvas and are super easy. She's a sweet teacher and is always willing to answer any questions you have. There is no homework so your grade depends on tests. Study Study Study!!!!! Take good notes and you'll do fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Micro - First of all I made a C- but there's no grade selection for that. DO NOT TAKE KLEIN. She had no reviews when I took her becuase she had just came here from the University of Missouri, and I fully regret it. No teaching skills whatsoever. No homework at all which would be awesome had her test been completely from her lectures. The 3 tests (including the final) that she gives makes up 85% of your grade in the class. DONT SCREW YOURSELF LIKE I DID. I have to retake microeconomics now because of her. Every other professor would have been better. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2306 - Not the best professor. She goes on rants quite often in class. She's nice and has a fun, upbeat personality, but besides that, class is extremely boring (especially if you have her for an hour and 15 minute class). Online quizzes are given each week. I thought they started off extremely easy, but a few were challenging, and didn't recall her going over a lot of the material in class. The exams are very challenging. I made a B on the first, C+ on the second and third. She doesn't help prepare you for exams AT ALL. No homework, no reviews, no extra credit. You have no way to gauge your understanding for the lessons until the actual exam. She just says to study everything, which is less than helpful. She assigns a few articles to read over the semester, but it's not necessary to read them at all. She spends 30+ minutes of class going over the article, and there were never quizzes over them. You have to pay attention to understand anything. You can't give half effort during class time because you will miss everything. She writes notes during the lecture but most are irrelevant, and looking back on your notes will leave you even more clueless and confused because she just writes down random words that have no correlation to the lecture, for God knows why. As someone planning on majoring in economics, I do not feel she has prepared me well or given me a solid foundation for more advanced classes. I would check other options before taking her class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Micro - didn't enjoy her class at all, if you want a class where you have to teach yourself, then take her :) 2 tests are literally impossible and no handouts, no homework, nothing to reinforce your learning... just terrible - Grade In Class:C
Comments:ECO 2306 - Klein is the BOMB. Take her class, you won't regret it! She doesn't give homework. You only have one quiz each week(which you do on your own time outside of class). She's a funny and sweet professor. It felt as if I had my mom teaching me. She's always there to help you if you need any help. Tests are fairly short and to the point. One of the best things about her is that she encourages you not to get the textbook. All in all, she's a great economics professor. With her, you'll learn a ton, and you don't have a heavy workload. If you pay attention and aren't afraid to ask questions, you'll walk out with an easy A. Don't let the fact that she doesn't have many reviews scare you! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:ECON 2306 - Dr. Klein is a very personable and funny professor however her lectures are TERRIBLY boring. Almost the entire class zones out and then everybody fails her tests. She explains things poorly and then puts really high-level questions on her tests. Also, she doesn't assign any homework and doesn't use a textbook so there's no way to reinforce the information you learn in class besides whatever notes you take. It's really frustrating because nobody really knows how to prepare for the tests. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:ECO 2306 - Dr. Klein is a super sweet, funny woman. She is new to Baylor in the past year and is used to teaching a larger group of students. I really enjoyed her class, and the lectures are bearable. However, her tests are IMPOSSIBLE. The first midterm took me by complete surprise with how difficult it was. I made a D. I studied my butt off for the second midterm a week and a half in advance, and still got a C+. The only saving grace in this class is her grading system. Basically, she calculates your grade four ways and gives you the highest possible score. If you fail the midterms but do well on the final, your grade in the class will be your final grade averaged with the quiz grade. There is an online quiz every weekend, but they are an easy five points if you pay attention and use your lecture notes. Overall, she's not terrible. - Grade In Class:B
