Comments:1310 - She was a great professor and in my opinion, made scriptures easy. I have previous knowledge of the Bible so that helped, but you definitely don't need any to succeed in the class. Her teaching is kind of confusing and I think it is not a good introduction to those who are new to their faith. There are three exams, the last being the final which is not cumulative. There were also 5-10 assignments that she called "Letters to a Biblical Character". She gave you 2-3 people you could choose from and you had to write a one-page letter to one character in the Bible of your choice. Overall I would recommend her, I tried to get her again for Heritage but all of her classes were full.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-05-17

Comments:1350 - There are definitely worse heritage classes than hers. The schedule was easy to follow. The tests could get difficult though, I felt like there was a disconnect between material taught and material on the test. Ended up watching two movies, which was fun. But she made us watch the lecture for those days on our own time. I'd recommend her but the class can be annoying at times.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1310 - Not enough good things to say! Seriously take her class, I felt so lucky being in her class compared to my friends in other scriptures classes. She is so sweet and makes class so enjoyable. Assignments and tests were very easy. Really enjoyed this class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Amazing teacher, passionate about what she is teaching and her students. She gives in depth discussion and commentary about the topics and helps it be applicable to our lives as well  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-12-13

Comments:1310 - She is a nice lady and the class is easy, but she definitely has an agenda when it comes to the lens in which she teaches. We didn't talk much about the actual material, so when tests came we had easy questions and some curve balls. If you want an extremely objective teacher, take her, but if you want real answers, I would look elsewhere. If you just want an A and don't care, then she works. Again, she is super sweet and willing to work with you. She plays fun music at 8 am and offers coffee for any students who want to grab some.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1310 - Fantastic Teacher. Dr. Burt is very passionate about religion and teaches the subject very well. There is a little bit of reading for homework but that is all. Her tests are straight from lectures and she does everything to make sure her students do well in the class. The average test score for test 1 was a 92. She gives 100 for every homework if you do it and participation is a part of the grade too. TAKE HER  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-10-15

Comments:Heritage - Forlini Burt is the best you can take for any religion class. She makes you truly want to learn about the Bible and the material. She even went to Common Grounds with me when I was struggling spiritually and talked with me and bought me coffee. We only have to read a little before class that helps with learning material. A lot of our grade is assignment based and the lowest I have ever made on an assignment is a 95 only because I didn't try. Love this woman.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-04-21

Comments:REL 1310 - Take her! She is such a great professor and explains all the material so well! Her tests were straight from the lectures and really straight forward. There is nothing bad I can say about Dr. Forlini!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-12-07

Comments:1310 - I tell everyone I know to take Dr. Forlini-Burt. I took her twice and got an A in both classes. She makes class interesting and her assignments/workload are SO manageable. You feel like you don't have any work, but you're still learning all of the material. She makes a genuine effort to know every student in her course (100 points just for sitting with her and having a cup of coffee!) and is very understanding when you struggle. You have to TRY to get a grade below and A. AND you learn a lot from her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1350 - First off, if you can't get an A or even a B in the class with Forlini as your professor, you actually have to be stupid. I had her for Christian Scriptures HNR as well and she has been the sweetest professor I've had. The class is NOT difficult at all as long as you take notes on her lecture. The readings aren't even a necessity in getting A's on her exams. She gives out exams and a paper at the end of the semester, all of which are very easy and straightforward. The topics taught in class of course are not always easy - in fact, I thought it was very dense and confusing at times but Dr. Forlini walks you through it as simply as possible. She also cares about your spiritual well being, not just the mindless memorization. I've seen so many of my friends struggle to get through their religion classes but I seriously did not have to study for Dr. Forlini's class and it was a relaxing class for me.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1350 - I honestly can't with these reviews. This class was like actually kinda hard and Dr. Forlini Burt doesn't take it easy on you. There is A LOT of reading (which is expected) but there's assignments on top of assignments besides that. Her lectures are super confusing and I promise I was paying attention. It might be because I don't come from a Christian background but I felt like I didn't know what was going on most of the time. The only reason I managed to get an A is because of corona shifting exams online (so they were essays instead on multiple choice) and I'm good at bs-ing stuff in writing. The actual MC exams were super hard tbh.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 H - Dr. Forlini is fantastic. Take her. I had her for Honors Christian Scriptures last fall and she was just the best. I learned so much from her and really appreciated her open-minded approach (she literally never forced her opinions on anyone, which is definitely uncommon for Baylor religious professors). In regard to the class workload, it was pretty easy. For my class, homework was comprised of assigned readings (a lot of people skipped them, but they were actually pretty interesting) and one-page reflections (super easy). Then, for our class meetings, Dr. Forlini would often use PowerPoint to lecture or "circle time" to have class discussions. It was nice, very laid-back. Dr. Forlini is just awesome (she started every class off with a music video of some sort... featuring Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Keith Urban, etc.) and so so caring (she brought us homeade food and/or coffee on multiple occasions). Do yourself a favor and take her class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1310 - Dr. Forlini has to be the nicest person at Baylor. She understands that students have other classes and therefore there is not really any homework. Once I slept through the 8 am lecture on accident and she was very forgiving and met up with me to give me a mini lecture on what I missed. Even though it is an easy class, I just made stupid mistakes on the exams so I was gonna end the class with a B. After taking the final, my thoughts were finalized on ending with a B. I was delighted to look at the grade book to see that she gave me an A on the final and curved my first exam so that I would end the class with an A. As long as you show that you care about the class and make an effort, this class should be easy and even delightful. Take Dr. Forlini!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-04-19

Comments:1310/1350 - Dr. Forlini is one of the coolest people I have ever met. Her tests can be a little detail oriented sometimes, but as long as you ask her to explain the review the day before (be the kid that asks her to go through the whole thing, your classmates will thank you) and go through the readings on your own again, they're completely doable. She assigns papers/reflections that are pretty easy to do and act as a grade booster if your tests aren't as strong. She is so kind and intelligent and understands that college students are under a lot of stress. Classes are mostly lecture based, but she loves to hear from students and asks discussion questions. I have heard so many horror stories about other Scripture profs at Baylor; Forlini was amazing and such a blessing!! Take her!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-04-16

Comments:REL 1310/1350 - Dr. Forlini is one of the go-to professors for Scriptures and Heritage. She has readings before each class which aren't a big deal if you don't do. She doesn't keep attendance to my knowledge. Exams in heritage and scriptures are 25 multiple choice questions which can be an issue since there are so few questions, but they usually are straight forward if you have been to class. Plus the class period before exams there is review day in which you can ask her anything about the content. In both classes, we had to write Letters to specific people of the Bible which as long as it looks like you read and it was a page she gave you an A. For scriptures you do have to read a three books on your own and then write a two page letter to that Author. For heritage, there is a 5-7 page research paper. While there is some work, its better than what I've heard from others. I would definitely recommend taking her.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-04-15

Comments:Christian Scriptures - Dr. Forlini Burt is super passionate about her work and a very kind teacher overall. She really cares about her students and wants to help in any way she can. The homework is usually reading from the work before class, and her tests in my experience were all multiple choice. Nothing is too bad if you pay attention and do the work, but sometimes tests can be tricky. Overall, I would recommend her because there are much harder scriptures classes at Baylor!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-04-15

Comments:1310/1350 - Literally the most caring, lenient, passionate, and helpful professor. I had her for Honors Christian Scripture and Christian Heritage. Much of her class is her lecturing with slides (which is everything you need to know for the exam) and discussions. She loves hearing differing opinions and is very open to them, never enforcing her views on anyone which can happen a lot of times in religion courses. She doesn't give any homework except readings and reflectional letters/writings which are pretty much grade boosters. Both courses have a major paper due at the end of the semester which is also easy A. Her exams are also easy A as long as you pay attention to her lecture and slides which she won't post on canvas so if you miss class, you're gonna miss some important portions of the exam. She even lets people take group exams or gives you the exam essay prompts ahead of time so you can pretty much write out your exam answers. She also baked us pie for class and let us watch a movie for an entire week to ease the stress on us as she is very understanding that other professors give us heavy workloads. TLDR; she's an amazing professor in every way possible so take her - her class slots fill up super fast.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-04-14

Comments:REL 1310 - Her classes are extremely conversational. Tests are easy. Sometimes, though, she will put specific questions on the tests so make sure you pay attention in class. I had her at 8 am, and she really cares about her students' well-being.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1310/1350 - Y'all. Little trade secret here- no one knows about the literal blessing Dr. Forlini is to your life. Religion at Baylor is hard. While I watched my peers fail over hard freaking exams, I sat and did group tests in NFP's class, recieving 95's. She's great. Also a cat and coffee lover. Her exams are not exams, rather group essays that you write and submit together. She has a required coffee with a professor meeting, and she is absolutely wonderful to talk to. I really enjoyed her class, and I never once had to work super hard (most days I didn't even read for class and was totally fine). Participate in her class, she loves to hear students opinions because at times it can be quiet. Her lectures are great, and she loves playing devil's advocate. The writings aren't toooo terrible, and I would usually do them the night to two before they were due and get 100's. Stroke of luck that I ended up with such an amazing professor, and you are basically given an A (it's not hard at all). TAKE HER!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-05-15

Comments:1350 - TAKE HER! Seriously y'all. She doesn't take attendance, and the only assigments that are due are a few group essays and the final. Y'all. The final was literally an essay of basically were you spiritually moved at all by this class and you didn't have to show up to her classroom to submit it. I stopped showing up to class after Unit 1, and I made an A in her class. if you need any more reasons idk what to tell you lol  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-05-10

Comments:1310 - Forlini is awesome. Her "tests" are short responses and she gives you multiple prompts to chose from so you have the option to write about something you actually care about. I am not a very religious person, so I did not do all of the readings but class discussions were never forced and not doing the readings did not affect your grade in any way. She does not take attendance so I almost never went to class and had no trouble keeping up at all. You do have to read 3 short books throughout the semester and write a short analysis on each for 30% of your grade. Overall, very easy and enjoyable class. Highly recommend over any of the other scriptures teachers.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-03-27

Comments:1350 - Do NOT take her. Just don't do it. I was told she was good but she completely redid her class and now it's some real bs. It is all writing. Her lectures don't make sense. She doesn't give enough time to take notes and she doesn't post her powerpoint online. She gives almost no directions for assignments. She doesn't give any feedback to try and help you improve. She just kind of assumed everyone was christian and we had to do "spiritual practices." So she basically forces christianity on people. Her exams were stupid and they were all short answer and she graded them really hard. This class just pissed me off. I actually found christian scriptures interesting and was looking forward to christian heritage but I did not learn anything in her class. DO NOT TAKE HER. There are way wayyyyy better professors.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Dr. Forlini-Burt was by far my favorite professor at Baylor through my first semester. She is incredibly sympathetic to students being late because her class is early, and is relatively lenient on turn-in times. She is super personable and requires you go see her in her office and talk for a few minutes which is something I really enjoyed. The tests are a little unorthodox in that they are not multiple-choice, so if you are a good writer you'll do well in this course. She genuinely cares about all her students and it shows in lecture as well as individual conversations. Overall, a fun class run by an amazing professor that helps her students in practically any way she can. 100% recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310: Christian Scripture - Dr. Forlini is without a doubt one of the nicest professors I have yet to meet at Baylor. This is a professor who genuinely cares about your well-being and happiness and recognizes how stressful freshman year can sometimes be. Dr. Forlini also teaches the Bible way differently than any professor I have heard about. She addresses the Bible through different perspectives and openly encourages conversation and discussion especially about the more controversial passages. Her tests primarily consist of open ended responses where there are commonly no right or wrong answers, and the final (at least for my year) was just a question about what you hope your spiritual and religious journey to be in the future. Unless you absolutely do not do the final or follow the instructions, you will get an A on it. The class as a whole is very easy to get an A in as long as you pay some attention or class. She does not make you mindlessly memorize passages or facts about the Bible. However, she does make you read three books by theologists with different views about the nature of God in the Bible and how the Bible applies to the modern world, but you can skim these books or just look up summaries if you don't have the time to read them all the way through. She also does not take attendance. If you have the chance, please take this professor. You will get to brag to everyone else who is dying because of the workload of their Scriptures class about how easy yet interesting this class is.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Dr. Forlini is simply amazing in every way. She is funny, caring, intelligent, and will go out of her way to make sure every one of her students is successful. Above all else, she is focused on encouraging her students to grow in their faith- truly the embodiment of a great professor. She makes a required class very easy for all students. I highly recommend her!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I can't say enough good things about NFB. She is genuinely the kindest professor that I have met. She truly cares for each of her students and is welcoming to everyone, regardless of their faith background. I was in her honors section, and she truly wanted to make each of us feel welcome and always gave thoughtful responses to our questions. There were always assigned readings before class but NFB was mainly concerned that we had meaningful discussion in class over sticking to curriculum which honestly was really great. There is a major paper and project that we worked on over the semester and the final and midterm were both straightforward essays that she told you about ahead of time. No quizzes. She is genuinely a thoughtful and kind woman, I highly recommend her honors section.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - She is super helpful and really wants to get to know each of her students! Easy A!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-08

Comments:1310 - Dr. Forlini is such an incredible professor. I was scared to take Christian Scriptures because I heard how hard the class can be. However, Dr. Forlini truly expanded my knowledge of the Bible without being too tough. Her tests are all outside of class. She sends out 4-10 questions about the unit and asks you to answer 3 of them in a page each. She really wants her students to engage with the Bible rather than memorize unimportant facts, such as dates. There are 3 tests and a final. The final is a personal question about your own faith. There are 3 additional books and we had to write letters to the authors of the books. These honestly weren't bad. We were also required to write a letter to a biblical character every unit. The workload is not bad and considering the way the tests are set up it is definitely possible to get an A if you pay attention in class. I highly recommend attending class because this is where her test questions come from. Dr. Forlini is so amazing and if you want to get something out of your religion class please take her. It was my favorite class this semester and I was honestly kinda dreading it at first.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-03

Comments:1350 - I love NFB!!! She's so sweet and quirky. Make sure you do well on quizzes, they're worth a pretty large part of your grade (she drops a few of them). There were 4 tests, but each test had questions from the old tests so it was easy to get high A's on them. You do have to write a 10 page paper, but as long as you put effort into it you should get an A. I definitely recommend taking her!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-05-14

Comments:REL 1310 - Dr. Forlini is definitely one of the best professors for Christian Scriptures (however, I did not take her for Christian Heritage and I definitely do not regret that- that class is a lot of work). She's super nice- she always let us out early, tried to make class interesting, and kept the homework to a minimum. She has 3 tests which are honestly sometimes kind of hard, but she recycles material by literally copying and pasting questions (AKA on the final, you've basically seen like 2/3 of the test already). She does make you read 3 books and do pretty long book reports on them, but she's a really lenient grader- it's just about getting them done prior to the night before. She's super friendly and emails back quickly, but my biggest complaint would be that her TA actually takes forever to upload grades.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-05-10

Comments:1350 - Dr. Forlini is one of the best professors I have had at Baylor. Her class is super manageable as well. The hardest part of the class are the quizzes, but she drops some and also gives extra credit ones. The tests are really easy, and even though you have to write a 10 page paper she gives everyone really high A's on it.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-05-03

Comments:1350 - Great teacher who wants her students to succeed...and you will if you put in effort. Tests are accumulative, but her test study guides are good.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2018-04-05

Comments:1310 and 1350 - I love Forlini but all I have to say is this - take her for Scriptures not for Heritage, whatever you do  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-03-22

Comments:1310 - So Dr. Forlini is a very knowledgeable lady. There are no quizzes, 3 tests (all multiple choice and material presented verbatim from previous tests= Test boost), and 3 book reports along with a final. I found the class very interesting a learned a lot. She is willing to help you. The worst part of the class were the book reports. There were 3 books we had to read for scriptures and to me, being a freshman required class, and I am not a religion major, seemed very excessive. Also, the books were about defending, refuting, and lukewarm defending God. It made me question my beliefs about God, because some of the books mentioned that God is not perfect and not all knowing. I have been a devout Christian all of my life, but I did not like the anxiety this class brought me. But I did like the knowledge I gained. I am still struggling now with the idea of who God really is because of the books she required us to read, but she is a good teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-12-01

Comments:1310 Honors - Dr. Forlini is an AMAZING professor. Take her honors section even if you're not in Honors- you won't regret it. It's not much more work than the regular section and the class discussions/lectures are FAR more interesting. There are daily reading assignments and reflections, but they're not overly difficult (to be honest, I did most of mine in the 30 minutes before class, twice a week). We only had a midterm test and a final test (which were both essay-based), and one project that lasted throughout the semester. Dr. Forlini allows time for lots of class discussion, and isn't afraid to ask big questions. She is also incredibly helpful in her office hours. I'm usually a science person, but this was my favorite class of the semester.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-11-02

Comments:1310,1350 - I really liked her as a teacher. Lectures on religion are boring, but it is not as bad as you think. Her tests are multiple choice, but there are a lot of questions. There are a few quizzes now and then, but she warns you and are not difficult. Work load is not bad compared to any other religion professors. In 1350, she does make you write a 10 page paper, but she is not a rough grader. If you have ten readable pages, you will do fine. Get the textbooks, you will need them. The special bible is optional.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-09-10

Comments:1310 - I only took this class because the reviews said 25 question multiple choice tests. But she changed the test format for this semester. Tests consisted of a key term section where you picked 8 of the 16 terms and had to write out the meaning and significance of each one. And also a key text section where shed give you 4 different experts from different passages, doesn't tell you where they are from, and you have to tell her where exactly it is from in the bible, the significance of it, the historical/biblical context of it, and what we discussed in class about it. Also would help to use key terms when talking about the texts. She also gives you a review for each test with like double the terms/texts, so you'll have a good idea how to study. There were 3 tests and a cumulative final, reflection questions due before every class, and a difficult text project worth 35% of the grade. The project isn't hard if you just start early on it and everyone pitches in. Overall a good teacher, the tests just threw everybody for a loop, but after the first test, with a class average of a lower C, people figured out how to answer and each test after had a class average around a B+. This class was interesting and I somewhat enjoyed her lectures. Id say she's a much better teacher than other Scriptures teachers I've heard about.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-05-09

Comments:1301 - Dr.Forlini's Class has changed since the previous ratings. I went into the class with a moderate background in the bible. However, THE TEST STRUCTURE HAS CHANGED. The tests are now Blue book tests. This means she gives you 20+ terms and 8-12+ passages she wants you memorize and "Expound Upon" With this new method of testing, FORLINI IS A VERY HARSH GRADER. As she decides how many points you get per response. There is no rubric or structure or consistency in her grading. It is simply what she thinks you deserved for your answer. Her quote on this matter is "if you think you have written enough, Write more". You also have responses submitted via canvas before every class on the readings that are usually around 20 pages, sometimes more.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2017-04-19

Comments:REL1310 - She was not a bad professor and her course wasn't hard, but it was challenging for me because I had almost no background knowledge about the Bible. Her course would probably be an easy A if you grew up surrounded by the church and know a lot of Sunday school information. There is always a reflection assignment due before every class over the reading and the tests are always 25 questions multiple choice; no quizzes or other grades. Her classes are discussion based, which was odd to me because I felt like I was just listening to other people's opinions about the Bible instead of being taught. Basically, I just wouldn't recommend taking her if you're coming in with very little background knowledge about the Bible; other than that, you should ace the class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-02-04

Comments:REL 1310 - Class is interesting and discussion based. The tests for the honors section are essays (not hard so long as you support your claims based on the text...like any other essay). Tests for nonhonors sections are multiple choice (not hard either). There are daily reflections, which are graded generously (i.e. if you wrote it and it is on topic you will probably get a good grade). Dr. Forlini is kind and wants students to face the text head on. She doesn't shy away from difficult passages. Overall an enjoyable (and easy) class.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-12-17

Comments:Christian Scriptures - Forlini is a great freshman professor. She never gives out difficult work; her only daily grades are reflections over last night's reading, which I did in ten minutes or less every time. I could usually get by with skimming the reading passages. She does require using Engaging the Christian Scriptures as well as the Bible, but only a couple of questions from that book are on the test, and I never read it. Her tests are 25 multiple choice problems every time--really easy. I also really like Forlini herself. At first she seemed to only want to ruin our idea of the Bible and God, but I'm pretty sure all the CS professors are supposed to challenge their students to have an open mind about the logistics of the Bible. She explains everything very well and commonly calls on students for questions and input. Overall, easy class to participate, and easy class is not so much participate.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-11-19

Comments:1310 - I had Dr. Forlini for my Christian Scriptures. By far my favorite class. Dr. Forlini's lectures are not only interesting, but she isn't afraid to ask tough questions about the Bible and encourage class discussion. Her tests aren't to bad, but it can be a lot of reading sometimes, however you can get away with not reading for her class if you just don't participate in discussion (which sometimes can be hard, she actively encourages discussion and will call on you to speak.) All in all, Dr. Forlini is a great Professor that I would recommend to anyone who needs to get their Christian Scriptures credit out of the way.  - Grade In Class:B+
