Comments:1305 - Anderson is the best! Workload was very easy I barely opened the textbook except to study for tests. He really knows what he's talking about. All of our tests were online which was helpful. Highly recommend!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - I loved Andersson! One of my friends told me to take him for Sociology and I don't regret it! He's very passionate about teaching his students and in-class discussions are fun. He's open to hearing everyone's opinions and is very interactive. Workload isn't bad. We do in-class typed participations that are posted on the slides, and they're just to make sure you are following what is being taught, and as long as you answer the questions fully you get 100%, and they're easy homework grades. He also does weekly in-class written participations for attendance. Quizzes and exams were online in canvas. I never read the textbook, but I always looked at the slideshows before taking the quizzes and exams. We also had pre-exam reviews in class and most of the topics discussed in the review would be in the exams. He also gives a lot of bonus and he drops two homework grades and quiz grades. Definitely recommend!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - I barely tried in this class and I got a 98, so don't sweat just get this professor if you have a difficult semester. All quizzes and exams are online,so it was easy to do on your time. And if you want to learn he definitely provides the tools for that, but like me, if you didn't even open the book you'll still make an A. Great professor, I definitely recommend to everyone.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - This class is an EASY A! The only assignments are participant questions that pop up on the power point during lectures, but you can do those outside of class as he posts the power point at the end of lecture. All his quizzes and tests are online with no lockdown browser. He gives lots of extra credit for the exams and is so easy! He is also very thoughtful about the material taught and is politically correct. Take this class for an easy A!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - (Took him back in 2018.) Very entertaining and engaging throughout his lectures. The material can be complicated at times, however the way he breaks down the chapters makes it easier to handle. His teaching style is super laid back and centered around actually connecting to the material. I can say I hated the clickers. I personally prefer having a hard copy in front of me while testing rather than reading off of a projector. The exams were on paper so it was only the quizzes that irked me. He does round grades at the end of the semester too which is always nice. Bump that A- up to an A. Definitely take him if you want to enjoy going to class and engaging with the material.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Easy A. Andersson gives chill uncle vibes and structures his class well considering it's an introductory level course. The grading system is lenient and as long as you get 6/8 on quizzes he'll put them in the gradebook as 100%. Offers multiple ways to get extra credit. Will even allow students to share opinions in class for extra credit as well. Really sweet prof who you can tell is passionate about his field and will even show the class some of the research that he's been involved with (not many professors can do the same!). Good class and exams aren't too terrible if you study and read the textbook chapters.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:soc 1305 - This is a pretty easy class. He reads from the slides but you learn about some pretty interesting stuff. Almost no homework, just reading one chapter per week. Quizzes every Tuesday but as long as you read the chapter. Study for the tests and you will do fine.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - This was one of my favorite classes at Baylor thus far! He's a great teacher and is really leniant on grading and tests. If you just study the powerpoints and know some of the reading from the textbook you should easily pass with an A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Matthew Andersson might be my favorite professor I'll ever have at Baylor. His class consists of almost no prep other than skimming the chapter before his quiz days. He ridiculously curves the quiz grades and also points out what to focus on for the tests. He is so kind and I genuinely just enjoyed him as a person. Definitely recommend this class to anyone who needs a GPA booster.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Soc 1305 - He is an alright professor. His quizzes are graded generously and all I had to do was skim the night before to get a good grade on them. Lecture was pretty boring but the one thing I didn't like was how specific the exam was. I found them pretty difficult. I went over all the slides and chapters for our exam and still made C's on the exam. I felt like it was harder than sociology should be.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Easy class! would recommend! if you just read the bold words in the book you are golden. answer the oral questions for extra credit! loved him!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Very easy class overall and Dr. Andersson is a somewhat entertaining guy. You are expected to read a chapter a week for each weekly quiz and they aren't too bad (he tells you exactly what to focus on) and his grading is insanely generous. No papers like other soc teachers and his tests require little prep. You'll need to pull a 50% on his final to keep an A if you do everything correctly throughout the semester, which isn't hard to do at all. Highly recommend  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Awesome guy! Class is a breeze if you engage with the content and that's incredibly easy to do because he is so excited to teach it. Grading is incredibly generous and exams are easy with a little prep. Highly recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Andersson is a very good professor and his grading is super generous. There's a quiz over the previously discussed chapter every Tuesday and his tests are pretty easy. He kept me interested and engaged with his "participation points" and I thoroughly enjoyed this intro class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - I liked Dr. Andersson. He is a good professor who is very generous on the grades he gives his students. I agree in some ways it might be a little harder than it needs to be but his scale for quizzes is generous and I think he curves his exams a bit. He gives a lot of extra credit for his exams and honestly the easiest thing for you to do is SHOW UP for class... If you do you can get a 100 on attendance which is a grade booster. Also, his quizzes are every Tuesday and like I stated before, the scale is very generous and to your benefit. He also drops the lowest two which can raise your grade in a 25% grading category. If you go to his office hours he is the nicest and most understanding person for any kind of situation that might come up and is easy to talk to. There is no homework other than to read and study for his exams and quizzes. It wasn't too difficult of a course and for the lenient workload, I can't complain too much  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Nice guy. Class is not too bad, but probably a little harder than other teachers. Class was a little boring as it is lecture based. Quizzes every Tuesday, but the grading scale is pretty generous. You can miss half of the questions and still get an 80%. Tests are half multiple choice half free response and there are only 3 tests a semester including the final.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Guys take Dr. Andersson if you want an easy A. His class has quizzes almost every class but as long as you read it's sooooo easy! Like literally, I put very minimal effort into this class and I didn't study for the tests until the night before and got high grades just from reviewing my notes and the vocab at the back of each chapter. This class is an easy A, but you do also learn if you bother to listen. There's no homework besides reading the chapters for the quizzes, and he'll tell you exactly when to have a chapter read by. He is also a very nice man, always willing to help you and he wants his students to succeed. He might not be the most interesting teacher, I don't know but I would highly recommend him to anyone.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Not completely horrible but I have heard that there are a lot better soc. Profs. The statement about the quizzes that someone else made is only partially true. it is a check system but even when I would get check pluses if you check your grades on canvas he would give you 80% or other grades. That wasn't the only misleading thing about this class, he doesn't weight the grade in canvas until after you have taken the final. I had a B+ in the class until he did this and several of my friends ended up failing! I think this was extremely inconsiderate because everyone in the class thought they were doing better than they truly were. When students complained about this he sent out several VERY rude emails. I wasn't too upset about the situation but his attitude in the emails definitely bothered me. There were a lot of quizzes in this class but he tells you if they are over lectures or the book, its hard to miss a class because the quizzes were twice a week. There is a lot of reading but if we are being honest, I didn't do any of it... definitely were I lost my grades. This only hurt me during the quizzes in my opinion, I only studied the powerpoints for the exams and did really good on them. He talks about a lot of stuff in class that is pretty irrelevant to the exams but I still found it some what interesting. When studying though only focus on his statements in the powerpoints, not the major articles he also puts in them. overall I would recommend him just keep in mind the whole weighted grade fiasco  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:Soc 1305 - Dr.Andersson is the man to take for sociology. He is a very good lecturer. Expect to study regularly for this class, as there are quizzes almost every class period. He is very generous with the grading of the quizzes. For example, he grades his quizzes on a check system. A 75-100% on a quiz equals a 100. There are 2 tests and a final, which are very straightforward if you study both the lectures and the book. The book is pretty descent and it is not very long. Overall, I would recommend taking particular notes of his lectures and reading the book before each book quiz for an A!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 1305 - While definitely not the easiest professor to take for Intro Sociology, it's not exactly a difficult class. I thought Dr. Andersson's class was enjoyable and extremely fair- the review below mentions getting a 0 for missing a quiz- what do you expect? A participation trophy? You get a 50 just for putting your name on the paper, and he drops 3 quizzes. The exams aren't a walk in the park but he gives free extra credit for them (including nearly 8 points on the final). The class is taught at a college level because guess what - it is a college class. I felt that I learned a good amount of information and thought expectations were reasonable for an intro level class. The course material could have been organized slightly better, but I had no major complaints with this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Andersson isn't the worst sociology professor at Baylor but there are definitely better ones, avoid him if you can. The class is boring, it's a lot of reading, and quizzes are almost every class period. If you miss a quiz its an automatic zero, if you are absent for a good reason and miss a quiz it is still a 0, at the end of the semester he drops 2 quiz grades. Because of the weight of the quiz grades, try your best to get 100s on as many as possible. The final grade was 20% for exam 1 & 2 and 25% for Exam 3 25% for quizzes (the average) and 10% for participation. This class isn't the worst but I don't believe it really taught me anything and I was bored every single class. It was hard to understand what was important information and what wasn't. The tests tested almost everything mentioned in lectures, expect a lot of studying when it comes to this class.  - Grade In Class:C+
