Comments:PSY 3308 - I am not sure what previous bad reviews mean. Dr. Young is very upbeat, funny, and excited to teach. I do agree that this class' exams are difficult. There are a lot of terms, techniques, names, theories to cover. I found it interesting, but it was difficult to keep up with sometimes. Otherwise, Dr. Young is helpful and a good teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3308 - I was so excited for this class and was let down immensely. I had so much trouble for the first tests and only realized how to do better on them for the last test. I did not like her teaching style at all and her tests were extremely difficult. I do not blame her as there is way too much information in this class to memorize, but at the same time her test formats were extremely difficult. I just did not enjoy her teaching style at all, whereas others may think differently. I would be careful when choosing to take a class with her.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Dr. Young is AWESOME! She's very passionate about psychology and really does her best to engage the class. Though the class is extremely hard, it is possible to make an A (you just might have to sacrifice your sleep, sanity, and social life to do so). The class is so interesting but you cover a ton of material every day. Dr. Young has office hours where you can review your tests, which I highly recommend doing, and if you find a scantron error or show that you misunderstood the question but understood the material, she'll give points back. If you have to take psych, I highly recommend Dr. Young!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Good luck trying to take notes in her class, or being able to guess what is on the test. The only way I could somewhat prepare for her tests was by using her SI's test reviews, but even then I got a B on every test. Your grade in the class is basically all tests, but she does drop one of them. She's funny sometimes, but I don't really like her attitude.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - Dr. Young is a young, fun professor who makes learning psych super interesting. She lectures SUPER fast which makes taking notes difficult but everything she says is important bc 80% of her tests are lecture based. Her classes are fun and easy to follow though. The other 20% of her tests comes from knowing the textbook WORD FOR WORD. She assigns a relatively minimal amount of homework but it’s her tests that really determine your grade. She drops your lowest test but this wasn’t helpful for me because I got the same score for every single test. I started making it an experiment to see what I could do differently to get a better grade in her class. I tried studying solely her powerpoints, I tried rereading the textbook over and over, I tried studying lightly, and I tried studying super hard. For me, once I got my first test back, my test grades were consistent for the rest of the semester. The only thing that helped me ace her final was watching crash course videos. They’re literally word for word from our book and go over almost everything Dr. Young does in class. Even with an A on the final I still barely missed an A in her class. Her class is all about how well you take tests. If you want a relatively tougher class where you actually learn the material well, Young’s right up your ally.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Psy 1305 - She is a good professor and very lively which makes class enjoyable but she goes over the powerpoint ridiculously fast which makes it so hard to take notes over what she says. The exams are harder than they should be IMO over the little details found only in the textbook, but as long as you keep up with reading then you can get an A. When you study just make sure to ask your test like questions to prep for what she will ask, because it is all application.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Young is a super sweet and engaging professor. HOWEVER this class contains SO MUCH INFORMATION ITS INSANE. She does not test you over concepts and Freud, the tests are over itty bitty pieces of information and tiny po dunk research studies that only partially added up to the big concepts. The questions are at complete random. Some questions she will let you know ahead of time and say "Hey study this" which is super nice, however, do not take this class unless you are willing to memorize the whole frickin text book.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1305 - Dr. Young is an amazing professor. This course is manageable as long as you put in the work. The thing that makes this class so hard is that there is literally so much information! Each test is over like 200 pages and the chapters are over completely different things, they dont connect with each other. How I got through this class is by reading through the book and attending the SI sessions. When it came time to study before the test I would go back through my lecture notes and SI worksheets. These were great ways of organizing the material! Also if the SI is still Casey her practice test's are great. Some of the questions were very similar if not identical to the questions on the tests! It seems that some people really like Dr. Young or dont, I really liked her. If you go to her office hours she always very willing to help and talk to you about any thing really! In the end I would recommend taking her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSY 3350 - This class covers a bunch of material, and because of that Dr. Young has to move quickly during lectures. Tests had multiple choice, short answer, and fill in the blank (no word box). As a clinician, Dr. Young was able to include relevant cases into lecture to explain different developmental milestones. She is good at what she does, and knows a lot about the subject. It is important to read the book prior to lecture to get the most out of each class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Personally cannot stand Dr. Young. She is rude and condescending and has an "Im better than everyone type of attitude." I felt like her tests were random questions from all around that tested how well you could remember random facts rather than how much you understood the material. This is also evident in her teaching. She speeds through everything and clearly does not care WHATSOEVER about whether or not we care about psychology.I hope you have a laptop because trying to hand write the notes is a lost cause with how quickly she goes. The exams are mostly lecture based with a few random irrelevant and minute textbook facts that she loves to throw on just to be a jerk. She also loves pretending that this is a neuroscience class and tests the heck out of brain parts and functions to an unnecessary extent. I have not studied at all, and have also studied for two straight weeks, including attending every SI session, reading the textbook and going to office hours and have received B's on every single exam. This is not a class where "hard work pays off." You either magically do well or you don't. Overall would not recommend. Not a good professor OR a good person so don't waste your time.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:intro to psych - Dr. Young is very nice and understanding. She tells you exactly what to expect from her class. She offers some bonus also! Overall, this class was very easy. You will need to read the book because she will test on things not in her powerpoint. Her tests are tricky but if you know the vocab and the chapters you will do great! Don't let people scare you into thinking this class is hard  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3350 - Dr. Young is a great person, but this class is definitely more difficult than anyone expected. There is just a ton of content, and it was clear that her main goal with the powerpoints was getting through them in time rather than people actually learning, I typically prefer to take notes only by hand, but the only way you can stay caught up in lecture is to either print out the powerpoint slides and take notes or just take notes on your computer. The tests have some short answer, but she is very generous with partial credit so it is always worth at least writing something. Definitely go to office hours to review your exams. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it, but it is worth your time and energy if you are serious about the course/major.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3350 - Dr. Young is a very young professor who also does clinical work, something she brings into her teaching to help apply concepts learned in class. Her tests are exactly what she says they will be, mostly multiple choice with some fill in the blank and short answer. Be sure to pay attention to the videos she shows; they actually appear on exams! She is very laid back and responsive, she gets exams graded and up on Canvas within 24 hours. The reading from the textbook is pretty important in clarifying what she lectures over and sometimes she pulls questions purely from the textbook.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - If you want to take notes in her class you have to have the writing or typing speed if lightning. No joke. She goes so fast during class that no one has the time to write anything important down. I went to all of the SI sessions and everything made sense there, but when it came time for exams, everything was different. She taught the class like everyone in there was going to be psychologists. For me, because of her I do not want to be one.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:3350 - I've actually taken Dr. Young twice because I loved her so much the first time around! She's one of the most fair professors that I've had and is extremely helpful if you go into office hours to review your tests. She is very open about how she grades things and you always know what to expect from her. She cares a lot about her students, and forms genuine relationships with them. She uses powerpoint slides during her lectures, but tends to only refer to them and uses a lot of supplementary information and real world examples when she is teaching - which I found super helpful in understanding the information! Additionally, if you are at all interested in grad school/post undergrad opportunities in psych, she is a GREAT resource and loves to help students with this process! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend that you take Dr. Young!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSY 1305 - Take Dr. Danielle Young FOR SURE. Dr. Young is an amazing professor, who knows her stuff. She is very helpful approachable and passionate. She WANTS to see her students succeed. Her tests are VERY fair, and if you show up to classes, take notes, and read the textbook there is a very very good chance you will make an A. She drops a test, offers extra credit, and her quizzes are completion grades. Her slideshows, quizzes, and charts are great study tools. I'm sure until the day I graduate, she will remain one of the very best professors I've had the pleasure of having at Baylor. If you're going take Intro to Psych, take her FOR SURE.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Very sweet, young professor! You can tell she's passionate about psychology. There is a lot of material to learn, so make sure you study a couple of days early for the test. Read the book!!! She offers extra credit which is nice. She drops one test. The final is cumulative, so it covers 16 chapters. Overall, not difficult if you study really well.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Psy 3350 - Dr. Young was a great professor. Though there is a lot of material to cover in Life Span Human Development, she kept her lectures very interesting so it was easy to learn material. Honestly, if you read the book and show up to class and take notes, you will get an A or a B easily. Her tests are very fair. They have 50 multiple choice, short answer, and fill in the blank based on definitions. Take Dr. Young! She is very nice and helpful. You will not regret it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Dr. Young is one of the most caring professors I have had at Baylor, despite her huge class sizes she makes an effort to get to know her students as long as you go to her office hours. Her exams are very straight forward and as long as you go to class and read over your notes, you will do well on the tests. The book is not a necessity for this class, but may be helpful to some people.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - This is a pretty standard lecture class; show up, she lectures, you take notes and then eventually take a test. If you've taken psychology before, this class should be easy. If not, then you HAVE to show up and/or read the textbook. You go over a chapter a day so missing one class can drop your next test 2 letter grades. I never took psychology before and never read the book either so I had to study my butt off for a B. If you have to take psychology, overall I would recommend Dr. Young. She is sweet and helpful.  - Grade In Class:B
