Comments:1321 - I am convinced Dr. Grigsby is one of the best if not the best calculus professor Baylor has to offer. He explains the topics clearly and makes sure his students understand the needed background material before teaching new concepts. His slides are easy to follow and take notes on and they prepare you well for the exams. He is the first math professor or teacher who has ever been able to keep my attention for a full lesson utilizing creative teaching practices. He has a true gift for teaching and a fun personality. His course also prepares you adequately for the departmental final.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1308 - He is one of the best professors I've had at Baylor, and he's always in a great mood. His jokes always make my day, and he genuinely cares about his students. Great guy and a great teacher. I highly recommend him if you struggle with math.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - I came into Baylor having already taken calc; however, Professor Grigsby has been by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He rounds up grades, he is considerate, he is clear & concise, but most importantly he cares about his students. If you are taking any math class, TAKE HIM. You won't be disappointed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1308 - 1309 - Take him in all of your business Cal class. The best man, wonderful guy. He tries to be funny sometimes to boost everyone, but his jokes are kind of mid, but the only thing is that this guy shows you every single step in math so it makes you understand the point better, so make sure take him everyone.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1321 - Dr. Grigsby is extremely helpful and he's always available to help, you just need to shoot him an email through Canvas and you will have the answer within a few hours. He's also a funny and enthusiastic professor who would make calculus less scary and stressful. 100% recommended taking him!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1308 - I love Dr. Grigsby. He is so sweet and really cares about his students and their success. I got extremely sick at a point in the semester, and he really made extra time to help me catch up and was extremely understanding. He is also a really good teacher and explains the subject material really well. I am not good at math by any means but I really felt like I understood math in Dr. Grigsby's classes. If you can, I definitely recommend taking his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1308 - Business Pre Cal is definitely hard however Professor Grigsby does provide a lot of resources to help you get through it. His exams are by no means easy however if you study, attend his office hours, and review session it is very manageable. There is a departmental problems list which he only brought up in our class towards the end of the semester but trust me do those as well as the exam reviews. His office hours are VERY helpful. There are 2-3 homework assignments a week that are generally 5-15 questions. Some of the questions do have multiple parts but it is very manageable. While attending class is not neccessarily mandatory I will highly recommend going. In class he does have a lot of jokes which range from bad to mid. My final thing is prepare for him slapping the podium and/or the desk in front of him  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1308 - Bus math is hard as is. I took precalc in high school and didn't realize how hard it was in college along with the bus word problems. Even though the material is hard he is a great professor and is always open to questions or attending office hours for extra help. There was homework for each chapter lesson but for the most part, it was manageable. There were no quizzes in the class just 3-4 unit tests and the final. I recommend studying for the unit tests as that can seriously tank your grade if you just try winging it. That's what I did and I had to get an A on the final to get credit for my business requirements. There's really no reason why you should get below a c in this class as he gives all the resources you need to succeed in his class. Overall I would take him again. Be prepared for his bad dad jokes though.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1308 - Mr. Grigsby is the best math professor I have ever had!! Attendance is not mandatory although it is helpful to be in class as he goes over homework problems sometimes. We learn through PowerPoints and he works out the questions on the board. Homework is through math lab and he typically assigns two sections due on the same day but gives us plenty of time to complete them. His study guides for the tests are extremely helpful as they are a direct representation of the exams. He is a funny guy who makes jokes during class which makes it more fun. TAKE HIM YOU WON'T REGRET IT.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1320 - Ian Grigsby is a great teacher and does very well practicing math problems and making sure that we understand what we are learning. He only gave us homework on topics that we needed to know and would be tested over. During class he was always very open to questions. In his files on canvas, he also offered additional practice. Before every test he also offered test reviews along with an answer key which further aided in preparation for the test. If you put in the time to do the work and know the content well, you should have no problem getting an A in his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:mth 1309 - Honestly an INCREDIBLE professor! Calc is hard but he makes it understandable and is very uplifting. He is always avalible and gives you so many study resources. He values his students and really wants them to thrive! He posts his old tests and they are basically an outline of what your upcoming test will look like. Definitely would recommend him, plus he is a super entertaining person  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1309 - This was my first math class in my life in which I got a B. I came into the class without any confidence in math. Like I said I had never gotten a B in any math class in high school. I was terrified coming into “calculus” and thought for sure I was doomed. Now, I did have to work my butt off and there were many quizzes and HW assignments that had fast turnover rates but he taught phenomenally. I now have a confidence in math I never had before, I am confident that if I were to switch majors to engineering that I could do it. He took confusing topics and ideas and simplified them to something I, someone who has never received a B in a math class, could comprehend. I have recommended his class to everyone. He was always there to help and truly cared about everyone’s success in the class. Looking back I would not have taken calculus with anyone else.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:MTH 1309 - Coming into this class, everyone said it was really hard, but Grigsby made it manageable and easy to understand. He was available almost anytime to schedule an appointment to help answer questions and was good about explaining it to us in class. He holds a test review before every test where he goes over things you need to know for the tests. The tests are very fair and are easy if you study and know what you are doing. About once or twice a week, we had take home quizzes that would be over the material learned in class. Although math class can be boring sometimes, he always made it very interesting by visiting Desmos and by making jokes. I highly recommend taking him for Business Calculus and would take him again for any class that I needed to take.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MTH 1309 - He's a very good teacher, tries very hard to help students. Worst quality is terrible jokes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - I will forever be grateful for Grigsby because he is 100% the only reason why I was able to pass the class. Whenever a subject didn't make since, all I had to do was email him and he would meet me in his office for a 1-on-1 tutoring session. He would generally make appointments throughout the day and they were EXTREMELY helpful. His tests are wickedly hard, but he grades off of process more than correctness, so if you at least do the processes correctly, you'll get around a C (which hey, a pass is a pass in calc). He truly cares for his students and wants the best for them. His jokes hurt quite a bit and I'd recommend wearing either Chicago Cubs or Dallas Stars gear on the first day of class. (I only said that because I know he reads these, but really tho) But really bad jokes makes learning really bad calculus better. I do not think you will regret taking him. He's kinda the bomb.com!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1320 - Great person, great teacher, terrible jokes. He really cares for each student and explains math in a way that actually makes sense. He is super helpful in office hours and will answer homework questions before each class. Tests are a little difficult, but he is good about letting you know what will be on it and how to prepare. Tries to make class fun and is always open to critique. If I had to take math again, would definitely take Grigsby.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - I have always been pretty bad at math. But I will say the final killed me. I would of had a easy C+ but I screwed up so thats not on him. However, Grigsby is a decent professor, hands down one of the coolest people you will ever meet. He is still learning how to teach and he has some serious potential but honestly he is not quite ready. The class in itself is hard and you have quizzes every time you turn around, it really can make you or break you. As far as his availability goes, it was hands down the worst experience I've had at Baylor. Yes he has office hours but he cannot seem to answer an email to save his life. It got to the point where I wrote a written appeal to the dean due to this. Long story short, he's a great guy and if you are decent at math, take him. If not, take literally anyone but him.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1309 - Mr. Grigsby cares deeply for each student and does everything in his power to help them succeed in the class. I'm usually pretty bad at math (and I was terrified to take Calculus), but he made it manageable and not so scary.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1309 - Great teacher. He cares for each student. Homework quizzes usually once a week and you're allowed to copy it directly from your homework. Tests were sometimes a little harder, but manageable.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1309 - Professor Grigbsy is a very nice guy. He is always there for help if you need it through office hours or through schedule appointments. He has a a lot of quizzes that can make or break your grade. His tests are EXTREMELY hard. Be prepared to study hours and hours. Im serious. My other complaint is that he has his review sessions the night before. Sometimes less than 12 hours before the exam.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2017-04-24

Comments:1309 - Not too hard. He has weekly homework quizzes that are open note. He also holds review sessions before every test and he answers any questions you have. You can email him a question and he will solve the problem and send a picture of his work to you.   - Grade In Class:A
