Comments:3315 - Dr. Jordan will give you an A if you work for one. This class was one of my most challenging last semester due to the workload alone, but the material and general class environment were fun enough to make it worth it. I agree with the previous comment about TA grading, but I believe that those changes every semester, so the previous one will have no effect these coming semesters. He posts all of his quiz banks on Friday the week before you have the quiz, so you have lots of time to do the readings, fill out the quiz, and start studying. He also offers office hours for five hours on Thursdays so that if you are unsure about your answers, you can have them checked. It is a lot of memorization, but I always felt more prepared and confident walking into his exams than any other class. On average, I would spend 4-5 hours a week studying for the quizzes, especially when the infamous chart is introduced. I spent roughly 40 hours each for the midterm and final, but I made approximately 98% on both exams. I believe these hours are a little more than in previous years due to the difficulty in grading that our class faced, but that is not Dr. Jordan's fault. Be prepared to work for the class, but it is rewarded. He also offered significant extra credit, which compensated for the couple of bad quiz grades I received. Dr. Jordan is an amazing professor who cares about his material and students; I cannot recommend him enough for this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3315 - I did not enjoy this class. The professor was very high-brow and made students feel inferior compared to his ability. He left all grading up to the TA, who was equally not welcoming or helpful. The class depended on the weekly 10-minute quizzes, which were near-impossible to finish in that time. You can afford bad quiz grades if you do well on the final and group work. But made for a stressful semester as a non-IR major. I would strongly recommend you take another section to avoid Dr. Jordan.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3315 - I learned the most about the political world from his class. International Politics is one of the hardest classes you will take at Baylor, so come expecting to work hard. But Dr. Jordan is a great option if you truly want to learn.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 4V94 - Dr. Jordan is amazing!! I took him for Leadership and Foreign Policy, which is a special topics class right now. He is one of the only professors I've had that truly cares about students learning the material and not just getting grades. He fosters an environment and friendship and allows everyone to ask questions. The class is hard, but incredibly rewarding — the lectures are fast and the quizzes are tough but I don't think I've learned half as much in the dozens of classes I've taken than I have in the 2 I've taken with him. He is just an amazing prof, take him if you can!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:4V94 - Dr. Jordan is the best professor in the political science department. He is incredibly passionate and helpful. Anytime someone would ask a question, Dr. Jordan would always make sure to answer it completely. He was also incredibly helpful during office hours. The feedback he provides is fantastic and he makes you become a better writer. He also provided extra credit for the class. He is a very approachable professor and wants to get to know his students. He requires readings but you don't need to read them that deeply. You can get by with skimming. He had pop quizzes but you would know what the questions would be, you just didn't know when they would come. His quizzes had 1 reading question, 1 lecture question, and 2 review questions. THis made you really understand the material. You only had to take the final if your quiz average was under an 80. I don't think anybody had to take the final. The quizzes were graded by the TA Clay who was super nice. Clay provided great feedback on the quizzes. I ended with an A-  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3315 - Dr. Jordan is the best professor in the department. He makes sure every student is doing well in the class and understands the material: this is his #1 focus. He is very willing to answer any and all questions and encourages his classes to mingle and become friends. In the 2 classes I've had with him, he has achieved this. His powerpoints are VERY organized and you can tell he puts a lot of effort into them. He's incredibly intelligent and it's truly infectious to be around him when he's passionate about the topic. He's made me love political science and international relations more than I could've ever expected. Take him if you get the chance! Amazing guy.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Grand Strategy - Dr. Jordan is fun and interactive in his lectures. But he stresses participation as you have to talk. His rubric is also unclear.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:PSC 3315 - Dr. Jordan is one of the best professors I've had here at Baylor. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the class, and making sure you learned. He gives powerpoints but encourages discussion throughout them. His quizzes and tests weren't too bad considering he gives every possible question about a week before, but he still expects good answers. Lots of reading every night but some are really interesting. He does grade participation so if thats not your thing try to answer one of the quiz questions or if theres a list in the reading write that down because he usually asks for some of the parts of it. Overall, very nice man, always helpful in class, and one of the best classes/professors I've had!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Fund./Grand Strategy - Dr. Jordan is the best professor I've had in the political science department. His lectures are designed for you to learn and retain information - I still can recall verbatim parts of the readings and theory he emphasized. He is very kind and willing to help you succeed in the class if you put in effort. Don't blow off his class, but instead prepare weekly for his quizzes and you'll be set for the final. He has high standards for his students and does everything in his power to help you reach those standards with your own efforts. I cannot recommend him more highly.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro/Grand strategy - Best teacher I have ever had at Baylor. Very quirky but very approachable. Always makes time to meet with you for office hours. For all of his classes he puts quiz questions online and if you can answer those, you will get 100%s on the quizzes and tests. The people who get bad grades in his classes are ones who don't put in the work. If you do the bare minimum, you'll come away with a great grade. Highly recommend--you will always know exactly what to expect.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3315 - Dr. Jordan is my favorite and best professor I've ever had. He really cares about his students and is willing to work with you to help you succeed. He really knows what he is talking about and narrates his lectures very well. There is a good amount of reading to do every day, timed quizzes every week (but we get the questions before hand), and there are about 3 group projects you'll do over the course of the semester. Going to class is a must & you do need to put forth effort. I highly recommend taking any class Dr. Jordan is teaching you won't regret it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3315 - Dr. Jordan's class is very interesting and well organized. He is always very prepared and is so knowledgeable. The workload is pretty heavy, but that's to be expected of a 3000 level poli sci class. The quizzes and tests are easy because you're given all the questions beforehand, however, you will almost always run out of time which is frustrating. The simulations and debates are fun, but he isn't always clear on what he's grading on. Overall, very good professor that I highly recommend taking. Cares about his students and cares that you learn the material. Very approachable and available. Cute kids too  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3315 - I had Dr.Jordan for international politics, and he made the class super interesting and fun. He is an excellent lecturer, and he utilizes powerpoint and will often draw on the chalkboard. He does assign a TON of reading which you have to do. The class includes a good amount of discussion which makes it crucial to read the assigned readings. There were four simulations in class which are group based. There are once/twice weekly quizzes based on the quizzes and maps. He does give you a study guide for every quiz as well as the midterm and final. He will check your answers so as long as you can memorize the correct answers your guaranteed a 100 on quizzes. His handwriting is really bad which makes it hard to read his corrections. All in all one of my favorite classes in poly sci. A bonus he does have great sweater vests and a cute baby.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3315 - Dr. Jordan is such a great professor. He is a little awkward at times, but knows his stuff inside and out. Very great at handling questions and conflict in class. There is a good amount of work, but it's all interesting and corresponds with the quizzes and exams. The simulations and debates were so much fun, and the books weren't too bad either. Take Dr. Jordan if you get a chance, definitely improved my time here at Baylor!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Fund International Pol - I was looking up reviews for another prof when I scrolled past Dr. Jordan and saw that he has a 57 rating on BUBooks. I created an account so that I could give him a review myself because he was by far and away the best professor I have had at Baylor. I wasn't particularly passionate about the subject and simply registered because it fit my schedule and met a requirement. By the end of the course he had sparked a passion in me. The workload in the class is intense, but honestly no better or worse than any other PSC course I've had at Baylor. You will do lots of reading every night and write lots of essays, but that is simply the nature of the subject. His lectures are clear, well-worded and well-timed. If you feel he moves too fast he is happy to rehash any discussion points and even asks the class if the pace is too fast. He always provided me positive feedback on essays and made sure that I saw the areas where I made mistakes and offered help to fix them. His office hours are also extremely helpful. He is not only a great prof but also a great man. I respect him greatly and you would be doing yourself a disservice to pass up an opportunity to take his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 3315 - Dr. Jordan was a great professor, a bit awkward at times but I really did enjoy his teaching style and personality. That being said hi class is pretty difficult. The workload is pretty large and the assignments require quite a bit of thought but thats to be expected from an upper level PSC class. He expects a lot from his students and frequently calls on students to randomly answer questions throughout class. Overall: smart guy, hard class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 3315 - Dr. Jordan has been far and away one of the best professors I have had at Baylor. In terms of personal growth, I have without a doubt learned more from this class than I have from any other class I have taken. Dr. Jordan greatly stimulated my interest in a topic that I knew next to nothing about coming in. It is certainly fair to say that you get out what you put in to this class. Dr. Jordan gives out every question to every quiz and test before hand- every single one. The quizzes are all free response, and usually ask questions directly from the readings or lecture, along with mapping and placing a few events on a timeline. These questions given beforehand are specified to each reading, and allow you to focus on the important parts of the readings (which can be quite long at times). This gives you the opportunity to prepare a correct answer for each and every question you will see on a quiz. I see this as making it unjustifiable if you do poorly on a quiz, as you were already given everything you needed to do well. The exams are also based largely off of select quiz questions, so if you've been keeping up throughout the semester, the exams are no problem. I found his grading of writing to be very fair- certainly not easy, but I was able to see his view on where I missed points. He looks for you to show that you understand concepts and can apply examples for thorough answers. I felt that Dr. Jordan respected our time as students, never assigning massive writing assignments. One assignment is 700 words and the other is a research response of about 1200-1500. There are lots of group projects, which are graded a bit ambiguously, but as far as I know nobody was docked an absurd amount of points. Dr. Jordan isn't good about posting grades on Canvas, which annoyed me, but he does pass back all quizzes and the midterm. He also wants the whole class to participate, as reflected by the numerous group projects and discussions throughout the semester. He will call on people who aren't talking if the same students keep answering his questions, so keep up with the readings to avoid getting called out. I found his lectures very engaging, but can see how they can be overwhelming if you're not a good note taker. Pay attention to what he is saying and write down lists rather than stare at the skimpy powerpoints. The reasons his presentations are bare is because he wants his students engaged and answering questions, not just copying down slides verbatim. Overall, I loved having Dr. Jordan. He is extremely knowledgeable about international relations, makes success in the class very possible, and cares about your growth above all else. I cannot recommend him enough if you are willing to put in the work to grow tremendously.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3315 - DO NOT TAKE HIM. He grades very harshly and is not very accommodating. Came from Princeton so you can totally tell. He does not post lectures on canvas or updates grades until the end of the semester. There's no rubric of how he grades group projects and individual assignments so it's very hard to gauge if you are doing well in the class or not. Also rushes through lectures so I never felt like the material was cemented well and ended up picking up most of the slack by doing additional readings but that did not help at all. One biggest problem I had is that for the final paper is that he lists movies to write on and to email him for a prompt and HE REFUSED TO WATCH THE MOVIE. Which begs the question, why list the movie as an option if you refuse to watch the movie or haven't watched the movie and not have a prompt prepared. Just very disappointing. Please just avoid him at all costs. Overall not very organized yet grades very harshly when he doesn't even seem to know what he is doing himself.   - Grade In Class:C
