Comments:eng 2310 - honestly, I loved this class, he is very kind and entertaining, the workload isn't crazy. You have a 4 question quiz over notes each Friday that is maybe 5 minutes, 2 essays that you can pick the topic on and the midterms are over the quizzes and super doable. 10/10  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - He is a nice guy, kinda awkward but nice. He gives you a lot of time to do the work and he explains everything in class. You can have him look over your essays and he'll show you exactly what you need to fix before turning it in.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:British Literature 2310 - I think he deserves a higher rating. I had him for American Literary Cultures and British Literature, and he was great. He will literally read your entire paper before you submit it and offer suggestions, basically guaranteeing you a good grade. If the majority of the class gets a question wrong on the take-home, open note quizzes, then he will omit it and give you bonus points if you got it right. These bonus points greatly increased my quiz average. The quizzes are easy if you pay attention in class and take notes. They also take like 5-10 minutes to take. He doesn't force you to talk, but appreciates if you do. He understands you if you're shy (I was shy and didn't talk at all -- talked to him during meeting times to help me with paper). Sometimes, he can be a bit boring, especially since he teaches earlier, but you can tell he's passionate and tries to be engaging! He really wants his students to do well. He always tries to make the midterms and final exams easy. If you go to his review sessions, you're golden for the exams! He looks intimidating, but I promise he will work with you and help you. He appreciates feedback. Also, he has allowed those who didn't do well on a paper (in American Lit. Cultures) to rewrite papers for higher grades. He is great! Definitely take him. It's not hard to make an A. Just read the stories and once you have read them, you can use sparknotes to make sure you understood. He also brings food to the final review session. Srsly the nicest!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - great professor but he’s simply so dull and his class is not engaging at all. Maybe it’s because it’s at 8am but he goes off on tangents that don’t make sense, assigns an insane amount of reading, and teaches class as if we’re all English majors when it’s just a gen Ed class. It’s a fine class, just so boring and uninspiring.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Amazing! He is such a cool guy once you get to know him. He constantly asks for feedback on how to better the class or ways to make things better understandable. His homework is usually just some sort of reading, but tbh he never quizzes on it, he lectures about it in class, and it doesn't normally have to do with the essays (which are the true assignments he grades). The main grades are the three essays you write over the semester. He is literally available at almost any given time and will work with you for literal hours on end until you get the full help you need. Very quirky and different, but super chill and easy to get along with. He truly cares about each student and the effect his class on you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I have really enjoyed his class. There are three major essays that define the course. He explains the essays well and is helpful with questions. He has great availability for office hours and responds to emails well. He is friendly and invested in our success. As long as you put in effort for the essays, the course is not difficult. The essays take time but he is not a ruthless grader.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Hatrick is a very nice guy but he is a really hard grader. His class is composed of three papers and a final research paper. The final research paper determines your grade and that is the bulk of the class. He doesn't really explain concepts too well and goes off on tangents about another subject. He does let you come in and show your paper and is lenient on appointments if his office hours do not work. Overall he is a nice guy, but he is a very difficult grader and that is hard for me since I do not write very well. He also isn't very good at putting grades in Canvas and if you are someone who likes to know what you get in the class then I wouldn't advice to take him  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1304 - Professor Hatrick is very different from any other english teacher I have met. He has big teaching focuses of eliminating passive and clarity in writing. Further he is not a professor who refuses to give good grades because 'there is no such thing as a perfect paper'. Very clear in what he wants. Reading assignments are minimalistic (I would highly recommend doing them thoroughly though, because class room discussion is how he forms his opinion). Being a subjective class, discussing reading material intellectually during class will force professor Hatrick to give you the benefit of the doubt when he grades. Relatively out of tune with with young culture and has interest in scientific topics (great professor for pre-meds because he finds science based writing very interesting while lacking a thorough knowledge, thus minimizing the possibility of criticism.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1304 - For an English class, there really isn't much work - 3 small essays, a final research paper, and a multiple choice final! He's very helpful and I have gotten A's on every paper so far with little to no effort. He has an amazing rewrite policy so if for some reason you do poorly you can make up for it very easily. He's awkward and quirky but super nice and a super easy grader...he really just wants everyone to do well! I would definitely recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1304 - I would recommend taking Hatrick if you want to get an A in the class! His grades are composed of three essays, a research paper, and a final. So far I have gotten high A's on all of my essays, and I am NOT the best writer. My biggest tip is to let him read your essay before the due date! One thing I can not stand is that he doesn't have a personal computer...So he only responds to emails/questions during his office hours (TR). How a graduate student doesn't have a personal computer just dumbfounds me. Also, the guy is pretty weird and seems to have a three-piece suit in every color. But he is also hilarious in a quirky kind of way. You need to buy the Perspectives on Argument textbook (and the current edition) because we use it almost every class. But do NOT buy the Harbace Handbook or whatever it is called. We literally used it once. Such a waste of money!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Class review: TAKE HATRICK! He is my favorite professor to date. There are readings before every class but you can totally get away with not doing them if you forget or don't have time, but I could always do them in 15 minutes or less. His workload really isn't bad, there are 4 essays and a final. He has checkpoints when you write essays so you can't wait till the last minute, so if you are anything like me and procrastinate, this was incredibly useful. He is really fair on grading, I have gotten 90s on both essays so far. You can rewrite any essay for a higher grade with the exception of the last one because there isn't time. He gives great feedback on essays and genuinely wants you to become a better writer. Attendance is mandatory, but you don't lose any points until you have missed 5 classes. He was great at working with for missing because of extracurriculars. Missing a few classes won't hurt you at all because he teaches straight out of the book. Class discussion is always good and fun in my opinion, but only about three of us participate so if that isn't your thing you'll be fine. Personal review: Not going to lie though, he's kinda weird (but in a good way). He wears a three piece suit and a matching fedora to class every day which I always got a kick out of. He's still pretty young and he's getting his doctorate right now, so he's really personable and wants to get to know you. I always came to class early to talk to him because I really liked him. This class is a lot more enjoyable if you have a relationship with him, so I really do recommend getting to know him! tl;dr - take Hatrick if you want a really reasonable class that you get something out of!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - took this class at 8 am and highly do not recommend. Class is boring, goes off on tangents, lectures and homework don't have anything to do with the papers we have to write. Homework is easy its always discussion questions and he just looks to see if you did them. most of the class is discussion or him going off about something that has nothing to do with the class. Papers are all prep for the final which is nice but they are weird prompts and there is no room to be creative. everything has to be done exactly how the prompt reads to a T. Will not be taking his class next semester  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:ENG 1302 and 1304 - Mr. Hatrick is a great professor. I took him for both 1302 and 1304 and he actually helped me improve my writing. He is a fairly easy grader and seems to genuinely want to help students. He helps you individually if you need it and is extremely flexible with office hours. A little quirky, very intelligent. Would take him again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - Professor Hatrick is a really cool dude. He is very helpful and is a fairly easy grader. There are 5 essays due and each is 3-4 pages. He is willing to meet with you during office hours or by appointment. I would highly recommend this guy. He's the man  - Grade In Class:A
